That Titan swapped Frontier just looks phenomenal!!
Titan swaps are pretty common on 2nd gen Xterras and Frontiers. It gives you beef your front end components, so you're less likely to break a CV or tie rod.
@mr2gud2u actually, people are breaking CVs more after Titan swapping because they are using cheap QX axles. It's less common for people to break stock R180 axles in stock modified form. Factory OEM CVs are the strongest most cost effective option.
Makes me want to do it with mine
Like the old warrior concept on the Titan. Too bad Nissan didn’t build that truck.
Thanks all dogs coop and tfl for the opportunity to see what the Titan swap suspension can do had a awesome time 😎
sweet truck! the Tswap looks great on the new frontier.
You have an IG? Need to follow for inspo
Those new Nissans have been underrated by most reviewers, yet I have done every trucky stuff with mine😊
i think they compare them to the top of the line Toyota trd pro or whatever it is these days and thats not really a good comparison.
These are NOT the new Nissans.
They’re not even close to stick. All aftermarket and swapped.
@@johnathanbeicher536 kinda, i mean one of them just has a basic lift and tires, the other is more modified.
So glad TFLofforad show cased alldogs on this video. These guys are the dope for upgraded Frontier suspensions. I like to upgrade my 2019 with these guys someday. They use high quality components. IMO, the lastest gen Frontier is the best mid size on the market and the most reliable. They are built like a tank with the F-alpha box frame.
They are here in Omaha!
I absolutely love my Frontier. Among other things, I just don't want a 4-cylinder turbo truck.
I would bet that my 2024 Colorado zr2 with 2.7 liter turbo 4 cylinder engine could easily keep up with your Nissan frontier in most trails. It is a beast. I replaced 32.6" tires with 34.2" bfgoodrich ko2 all terrain tires. So wirh factory 3" lift and the taller tires it is very capable of tackling tough rocks trails.
Let's go up ontop of flag top above harrisonburg,va and see how good your Nissan frontier can tackle the trail I went down 3 weekends ago. It took me 2 hours in the fog after sunset to make it down off the mountain.
I don’t know why people sleep on these. Like I said, built a Tacoma TRD sport 4x4 that suit my needs because I live in the NorthEast, ended up being $56k which is insane. I build a tundra and it ended up being $57k. Build a frontier, $44k.
Buy a SV 4WD and make it your own for sure.
I don't mind that they do, cus I'd still like to be able to afford one in the future.
Thinking about getting one of these Frontiers myself. The new Tacoma is trash anyway and the previous Tacoma doesn't have the power I'd like.
@@jeepinintexas6215 dude the new taco is slow AF also. Add an Ecutek tune to the new Frontier and its a godam beast!
Because no port injection.
Great people at All Dogs Off-road. Even 2nd gens are getting more love now... As Chad said the support has been getting better and better.
Even in the frontier stock form is awesome
ADO!! The boys are here!
Yahoooo!
As a 19 Pro4X owner going on 4 years driving in all conditions, the difference between a Frontier and a Tacoma really just comes down to preference just like choosing between a Silverado or a F150. I’d go with the Nissan, but of course my opinion is a little biased. The power plant in mine, 19 and prior - the 4.0 was around for over 15 years and considered one of the most reliable engines on the road. The new 3.8 is proving to be great as well over the last couple of years. Glad to see the Frontier getting the attention it deserves as of late.
I wheel a Titan-swapped Xterra 3.5" Radflo lifted, fully armored and 34's Grabbers and locked. These vehicles are very good when kitted out but issue is wait times. You can get any part you want in less than a week with a Toyota or a Jeep but while you can get the same mods for the Nissans they're a lot few companies that make them and you can wait months for bumpers and sliders to be made. Chad and Steven from ADO have helped me with my rig as well.
It's nice to see Nissan Frontier showing what it can do. There has been too much obsession with Toyota lately. I was looking for Nissan videos and found that Chris Forsberg built a Titan and a couple of Frontiers. The Titan swap by Chris Forsberg explained that it gives the truck a wider wheel track (more stability), more wheel travel (better articulation), stronger suspension components, bigger brakes, and bigger tires for more ground clearance under the diff. The Titan swap can also include taking the V8 from the Titan and putting it into a Frontier for increased performance. A Titan swapped Frontier can have the capability and performance of a Ranger Raptor but at a fraction of the price. In Australia, a Nissan truck was the first to cross the Simpson Desert and is considered equal or superior in quality/ability to Toyota by some offroad enthusiasts.
I like Nissan trucks. But Toyota has been the talk for a reason. Nissan keep dropping the ball over and over with their truck lineup.
@@rhdjdmda6 I don't think Nissan has dropped the ball. They just haven't gone as high tech with their trucks as Toyota and the other manufacturers. But recently Toyota had massive recalls because when you push technology sometimes you make mistakes or have production issues. Nissan has been ridiculed for using old technology and not updating the look and technology in their trucks. I think it's better to experiment with technology in a sports car because it's a toy or a pleasure vehicle. A truck is used for work and needs to be reliable. So I want 10 year old technology in my truck because it's been torture tested, it's proven that it works, and when it breaks replacement parts are easy to buy from any auto supply store. If you take your 4X4 off-road then you will break something and the more high tech your truck the more difficult it will be to fix and you may have to wait for a replacement part to be shipped to you.
Chris Forseberg is leaching off the Titan swap idea from 20 years a go. It's nothing new. The components are also not beefier unless you swap to a M205. Also, Brennan from Driven Desire fathered the VK swap.
@@TheSmittysGarage The Titan is a heavier truck than the Frontier, so obviously, the suspension components will be "beefier" or stronger to handle the off-road abuse from the heavier Titan. I don't know who pioneered the "Titan swap" or who is leeching off of who. But since Chris Forsberg has a relationship with Nissan through his racing team, he was able to modify a Frontier, and those changes were incorporated into the Forsberg Edition Frontier. He recently installed a mid-travel suspension on his race truck with a Deaver spring under kit. In 2022 he built a "concept Frontier" for SEMA with a complete Titan swap including the V8 and complete drivetrain into a Frontier with a carbon fiber widebody kit that has wheel openings big enough for 35-inch tires. The ability to put a V8 into a Frontier gives it equal or superior performance to a Ranger Raptor. His relationship with Nissan means that hopefully a future Frontier could be offered with a mid-travel offroad suspension and other performance parts.
@aerynlovell4754 won't happen but ok. How many Titan swaps have you done? I've worked on these trucks and sold parts for them for three years, I'm pretty familiar with the differences. I also did the first VK/6speed swap into an Xterra thanks to Driven Desire and C3 Performance.
If you really want to see a cool Frontier, Z1 Off-Road is building some of the best, and is working on a roots supercharger for them. Frontiers are pretty awesome trucks for the price.
Had two Frontiers no issues with either one 👍
Just got rid of my '18 TRD 4X4 Sport MT, gonna get the Frontier Pro 4X, new Toyotas are just way too overpriced.
You won't regret.
I think the Frontier is the bang for the buck in the small truck market...
If I never heard the word overlanding again I’d die a happy man!😅
But I can sell you products at 10,000% margins if I add the trendy word
Exactly. I'm with you.
did you notice that even Chad used the word 'fad'. i thought that was interesting.
How about camping from an offroad truck?
@@jeffk464 how about $10,000 for $600 worth of camping gear you carry every day but use twice a year in developed campgrounds that you never leave asphalt to reach 🤣
Love my all option 22' Titan XD Pro-4X. For a 60k selling price (easily negotiated at any Nissan dealership, or even lower) - it's a steal of a deal. No residual value after purchase and discontinuation. But use that truck through the full 100k warranty and you'll get your 'money's worth'.
I think Nissan is missing out on a big marketing run with the Titan swap trucks. They could bring out a Frontier Pro-4x Titan, have the Titan swap parts installed at the factory.
You could say that for any aftermarket add-one though. Better to build it yourself to your specs.
Lmao that’s like saying Toyota should have a Tacoma TRD Pro Tundra
@@Lee-gt5blcan you directly swap control arms, coils, etc. between a tundra and Tacoma like you can with the frontier and titan?
@@vegasxventures I’m just saying the name is dumb
@@Blue-moon12yeah but the others don't seem to have a problem at least moderately picking their trucks off the ground from factory. Good lord tacomas are already way off the ground and I think you can get them to lift it another 1.5 to 2 inches from the factory. I think it would be a major help if nissan redesigned the upper control arms on the frontier so the front of the arm wasn't directly over a strut tower. I don't think I've seen any other truck that the tower wasn't centered on the control arm. Hey I guess alldogs is enjoying the $$$$ though.
Bro is ready for the next flood in those shorts
Chad, your sister wants her shorts back 😂😂😂😂😂
ADO off-road will be where I’m getting the lift kit for my Frontier.
A friend just bought one and I find it way nicer than the new design Toyota inside and out...The new Frontier is definitely worth a look
Years ago i switched from a 2nd gen Tacoma to a 2nd gen Xterra and imo Nissan builds a better truck platform. I now own a 23 Titan pro4x.
TFLoffroad this is one of my favorite videos you guys have done. I loved the content and the format of this video. Just hanging out and getting the perspective of someone else in the off-road RUclips space. Please do more videos like this with other companies in your space.
Toyota owner here but loved the old school nissan pathfinders. Also cool to see local shop on here too. Nice to see lincoln shop on here even though I'm 50miles east.
The white Titan swap Frontier looks great!
One the last naturally aspirated V6s too (Toyota, Ford, GM have all gone turbo in their midsize trucks).
Ford ranger will also prove to everybody you don't need to spend alot of money for offroad trim bs just to get difflocker just don't forget to tick the box when ordering🤣
I’m really impressed with this gen Frontier. I have a 22 S 4x4 and for what it is, it’s pretty much perfect.
Would love to see a video of all base model 4x4 midsize comparison.
Thanks for doing different brands that people might not have thought about! Great video.
Thank you for showcasing Nissan here. It’s unbelievable that they thought so well ahead that these different trucks underpinnings can be swapped out so seamlessly.
Great informative video on Nissan builds. Loving the flip-flops 😂.
Love all dogs off-road! Just bought their upper control arms for my frontier and I love them
I never really understood offroading just for the sake of offroading.
If I'm offroading its driving on the lake ice and blasting trough big snowdrifts to go icefishing or swamped out beaver blocked roads for hunting.
Going over rocks and trails like this just for fun looks like banging up your truck because youre bored
It gets you to places you would never see otherwise.
Awesome all dogs off road is on tfl these guys do so much for Nissan owner's i have a titan swapped 2nd gen frontier myself. And z1 has a supercharger coming out for the 3rd gens.
I’m definitely not a fan of Nissan passenger cars and crossovers. However I’ve liked the trucks and older suvs and I’d love to have a Frontier for my daily.
Ado was the correct company to pick with nissan off road stuff
Great video! Love seeing modded Nissans on the channel!
Nissan Frontier is a great truck platform to build upon, best part is it is still normally aspirated V-6
In keeping with the underrated Nissans, you should review a pair of R51 Pathfinders, one that has a few mods like a lift/tires to one that is built with many mods like differential lock, skid plates, winch, snorkel, etc.
Case one of my friends was looking to but a 2024/2025 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter here in Canada ,he figured it would be his last truck since he is retiring in the next 1 or 2 years and he got an MSRP from a dealer of just over $86,000.00 CDN ,a TRD PRO was only $80,000.00 6k less, well he had to think about and told me i love the truck ,not the price , he did not want an F150 and is now reconsidering it, he can buy it for less money and have a front locker installed at the dealership and still come out cheaper, all i could say was wow 👍 great video Nissan builds a good truck
If I dump my 3rd Gen Tacoma, I'm getting a frontier for sure.
A titan or a titan swapped frontier? I believe the titans are over with.
@@JohnnyRebLa I meant frontier lol
Enjoyed this! George did a great job letting the truck do its thing and figure it out.
Chad wears hot pants and shaves his legs? This has to be Colorado.
😃 😀 😄 😁 🤣 😂
That guy looks like a Chad 100%
i just don't understand how the Frontier does all this without a phoney hood scoop......
And TRD logos everywhere 😅
for some reason, this made me miss my Op corduroy shorts from the 80's..
History always repeats itself! Wait until they make a comeback
Kase, great video! Glad to see Tommy let you go on your own. I had not thought about the Frontier as a capable alternative.
Holler at Z1 Off Road for these trucks. They have the largest selection of suspension, interior and drivetrain parts.
Getting mine in 25! Love this truck!
The apocalypse is upon us. TFL has allowed Nissan to be showcased.
Highly recommened Alldogs Offroad!
Have ADO 2" koni kit on my 22' with 285/70's the ride is so nice.
When people say Nissan trucks haven't changed, 7:55 explains it all. They've purposely used the F-Alpha platform for 2 decades to make it as modular as they can for generations to come and it's held it's ground very well.
Toyota just started doing something similar with TNGA-F so it's kind of cool to see them adapt.
Nissan all day!
That IFS flex on the titan swap is great. Long travel ln a budget.
A couple of great trucks. Good to know bargains still exist in the midsize truck market.
Dude sporting the Reno 911 shorts!😉👍🏻
Love All Dogs Off-road!!
One of the better unique reviews. Well suited for the channel
I didn't even wait for the new Tacoma. I knew it was going to be a turbo 4 cylinder and I wanted a NA V6, so I got a 2022 PRO4X and I live in Canada so its also a king cab. I put the ASFIR skid plates on mine, and the ADO RCKilla lift. I do mild off-roading occasionally, and my setup is more than capable for what I do. I'm happy with it
Love my 2020 with the second gen body style but the upgraded drivetrain. Added a 2-in lift front and back with 33s. All the capability I need for what I do. Headed to Moab right now.
I like the 4x4 flip-flops
hard core.
Amazing how the Frontier didn't break going up the trail like the Tacoma did.
That was driver error and if the Frontier did the same with the factory R180, the out come would have been worse.
@@TheSmittysGarage The error was driving? Or taking a Toyota on a trail? I'm confused.
@@TheSmittysGarage yes, the error was driving it like a regular truck 😂
@@DaBrute Maybe instead of TRD Offroad and Trailhunter, they should come out with the Trailwatcher package.
It was totally NOT a driver error. Toyota admitted such. They had to modify the software so it will not happen again.
Thanks for this video. Shows what my '22 pro4x is capable of with the right lift. ADO is great.
I am a former Tacoma owner and now a Frontier Pro4X owner. The Nissan is by far more comfortable for me. That transmission is so much better and I no longer drive with my knee resting on the door or smash my head on the roof getting out 😂
I chose the Frontier over the Tacoma for the NAV6 and lower price!
Titan swap has been around for years, glad it still living on
The biggest downside is that you cant fit a true 33" tire. You can get close like a 32.6", but that's maxed, the tires in this video is maxed out I think. Its kind of the same problem as the last generation Tacoma. I guess it depends how hardcore your going to go with your offroading.
Guys fit 35’s on these trucks with a little trimming. No different from any other midsize on the market.
@@orodos I watched videos where they had to cut away part of the metal body, not as bad as the old Tacoma where they had to bash in a major body mount, but still. I do like these trucks though and they finally upgraded the screen and cameras. Its definitely a valid competitor in the segment.
@@jeffk464 I used to watch instructional videos on how to put 35 inch tires on a Colorado by trimming the fender. It was funny how close to the cab they were cutting. They couldn't go any bigger because the front axle was too close to the cab but the newer GM trucks have the axle moved forward. Nifty City makes an upgraded head unit for the older Navara/Frontier.
These guys KNOW Nissan!
Good to see affordable upgrades on anything. You spend a ot for a extra 10% improvement in components.
Always love the underdog truck.
I drive a 4runner but if I needed a midsize truck, I'd get a Frontier.
Every time I see that tree at the razor rocks, I think of Andrey’s F-150 getting pin striped.
Bro showed up in Village People shorts today
One day you'll be secure enough in your manhood to be able to wear whatever the hell you want. It'll be a good day for you.
Love the frontier and my only beefs with it are the low resolution cameras and no log beds although I’ve heard the latter may change for 2025
you could always get a long bed on the frontiers, they did add the long bed to the Pro4x for 2025.
I have an Armada and it has that crappy camera as well.
Would be great to see if you guys could put the frontier pro-4x against maybe a ranger Fx4 and maybe one more like Colorado Z71
Wow, I didn't think nissan enough bright shiny toys in it for TFL spend anytime with it. Considering you can buy a Pro4x for under 40 right now with discounts, makes it a very smart buy. It was also cost the least to own to 15000k
You better get an oil catch can for the Frontier as it's a GDI engine without port injection, so the intake valves may need periodic cleaning.
I would be considering buying one if they had added port injection.
I own a 2023 Pro 4x with a catch can and also a 2018 Genesis G80 Sport with a catch can. Regular oil changes, and intake cleaning no issues. My Genesis has 195k kms and drives like new
Should I trade in my 2023 trd pro for a 2025 Nissan frontier pro?
Yes you should. You know the upsides. No hunting transmission, not sitting on the floor while you drive feel, more hp and torque, and reliability through the roof.
Totally.
I am selling my 21 Tundra TRD PRO and getting a Frontier ASAP. Doing this while the Overland fad is still strong!😅
I will actually pocket some cash for mods to the Frontier.
@jaysonc2102 The Tundra is a great truck too though. Can't go wrong with either.
No way, your TRD Pro has upgraded suspension stock, the Nissan has a great crawl ratio but the stock suspension is just regular Bilstein shocks. The V6 in the Toyota is a good design using both direct and port injection, best of both worlds.
The Nissan is direct injection only.
Just use the ECT if you want it to hold onto gears longer and if it’s a manual it’s already a keeper.
Frontier is what I'd choose id still like to see a Nismo kit versus a TRD at a similar price point as the Nismo full suspension lift/ leveling kit with similar tires to level the playing field as Nismo off-road is a division to compete with TRD division but everyone takes the stock pro 4x & puts it up against TRD kitted truck I'd like to see apples to apples Nismo off-road vs TRD in a bang for the buck as it seems people tend to try to protect Toyota & put a TRD with 10k plus in TRD upgrades against a non Nismo upgraded truck I believe the results will be very interesting
You don’t need a Tacoma to go off road…you just need a Tacoma if you want to actually get anywhere off road. TFL has always been anti Tacoma
Loving my 22 frontier pro 4x. All dogs and z1 offroad are the best for aftermarket parts for nissan. Love my truck
ive got mine with a dana 60 rearend and a dana 60 straight axle its a 2023 coil over suspension no leafs. 37 tires and 24 and a half tire travel. rides better than stock. was a little costly but worth it.
That's rad, Do you have IG? We want to see this.
I have a 21 TRD OR Tacoma I’ve gave serious consideration considering about trading out for a Pro 4X.
You wouldn't regret it.
You will regret it down the road.
@is6566 lol you are a tacoma guy I'm guessing. No thought process, just action.
@aaron… Never owned a Tacoma or Tundra. Had a Corolla 30 years ago and my family members own a GR Corolla and Lexus products. I don’t.
Owned mostly Ford, Mazda, Jaguar, BMW before. Currently I own a Jeep Wrangler, RAM 2500, F150 and a GMC 3500 Sierra so I guess based on your comment you lacked the thought process.
My comment was based on research I did before I purchased my last truck. I considered current Toyota and Nissan trucks. I would not buy current Tacoma or Tundra. The Nissan Titan is ceased to exist this year. I would rather buy a current Frontier than a current Tacoma.
However the guy asking the question has a very recent but PREVIOUS generation Tacoma. I would NOT give that up for a Frontier. That Tacoma worth its weight in gold. Honestly, I am thinking that in a few years I will trade in my F150 for a 2022 clean Tacoma to keep it forever.
I recently compared the new Taco and Frontier. The Taco felt modern and much more responsive than the Frontier. And even more so over the 3rd Gen Taco. The Frontier felt old and dated. The interior wouldn't feel modern by 2005 standards.
R.I.P. paint on that swapped Fronty.
It's good to finally see Nissan get some love on this channel. It always seemed as though TFL shit on Nissan in their reviews. I realize that was due to all the whiz bang and bling BS other manufacturers were adding to their product lines. However, all that did was price people out of the market and add complex systems that are extremely costly to repair. Whereas Nissan stayed tried and true with the KISS method of manufacturing their vehicles. Cost was cheaper, no BS turbo 4 cylinder engines, and quality some say similar to Toyota. I could go on. At least the Frontier is still available here. Sadly, the Titan is done as of this year and it might have done better had it had more positive a push to people who want a real truck, not a car disguised as a truck as many trucks are now...
@@TheNecronacht Engineering Explained has some good videos explaining the pros and cons of turbos and naturally aspirated engines. In one video he says that to build an engine strong enough to handle the extra pressure/stress of boost is more expensive and that makes the vehicle more expensive. For the past few years everyone was critical of Nissan for not having a turbo on the Frontier and using an old engine. Now that prices on mid-sized trucks are crazy a cheaper truck with a naturally aspirated engine is looking like a smart decision.
Muy buenas camionetas!!
Saludos!
Buena vibra ✌️🔥
I trade it in my 2022 Nissan Frontier for a 2025 Nissan Frontier because of the minor improvements made it much better.
Im not a Nissan guy but that Titan swap is pretty awesome
It's Chad!! We love ADO!!
another benefit of the nissan is its just a plain ole V6. no hybrid or turbo. simple is good.
Let’s go all-dogs love my UCA’s
I'll just say that I'm still a big fan of the frontier! For the price of a fully loaded Tacoma TRD pro or a nison / ranger tremor that cost at 56-70k you can get a pro4x or a 4x4 at around 42-4000 and still have any $ 10,000 left to upgrade, and modify it as you see for and as you can afford it! I want to see more!! Hey Tommy @tfl y'all should get a frontier 4x4/ pro4x get it and. upgrade it and then compare it against a TRD pro/ rather tremor/ raptor, trail boss or a bison
cool tire size, didnt know 255/80/17r existed. could be viable for lifted grand cherokees someday.
What does the Titan swap do to the overall payload on the Frontier?
Nothing. Your payload is not impacted one way or the other.
@@is6566 Thank you!
I was hoping Titan Swapped meant it had the V8 (somehow)
Bolts right up actually!
That’s known as a VK swap and the Titan v8 also drops into the frontier with little to no mods.
@@daywalker4029 is that true for this newest generation? I know the older model was very simple though I just envision a bit more electronics in the new one especially related to the engine wiring harness and ECU.
@@ALMX5DP Nissan did it in their 3rd gen frontier for SEMA a couple years ago. It’s still possible but more costly with the direct injection and added complexity to the wiring
Not in a smog hell like CA unfortunately
Who wears short shorts? He’s rocking the short/flip flop combo. 😂
I really wish Nissan still sold the Frontier with a manual transmission. That would seal the deal for us.
