The family saying "we've fostered a lot of troubled people" sounds like my mom. She's been so amazing over the years and throughout my childhood. As my sister was in her mid to late teens, she brought around many troubled young woman (and a boy) and let them stay for a few weeks, to months, and one girl, for a year while she was pregnant. My sister LITERALLY moved herself out with her bf while her 7mntb pregnant friend was still here in our home. She wasn't a good friend, still isn't. But my mother has always been such an amazing person and a shoulder for a hurt young person, to lean on. My mother is amazing ❤

Even if she's telling the truth and she really is pushed that easily into a sexual relationship then you still can't trust her. Because she essentially said all it takes for her to cave is a random dude to make inappropriate advances. Cutting contact with male friends won't change anything because she didn't cheat with someone she had contact with. She cheated with some random guy who lived in the same building and hit on her whenever he saw her. He's practically a stranger. What happens when the next random guy hits on her and doesn't care that she has a boyfriend? How can you trust her when she'll clearly let him make the decision for her? You can't.

Personally i think we should just enjoy Riley and Sophia's banter. I totally get it but I think we gotta try not to comment about their interactions so much. The comment sections under their videos shouldn't be about what we imagine could happen. Totally get that it can feel harmless but unless they say otherwise I think we should comment with the assumption that shipping real people can be awkward for those real people. And if it gets awkward it could make it hard for them to live in the same space and work together. Meaning no more videos with the fun interactions they have together. Absolutely no hate towards you. Im sorry if it sounds like that. Infact I can see a world where they have chemistry but I dont want things to get complicated for them or the rest of the team.

Gravity falls was one of the only shows where the creator decided 2 seasons and that's it, and I can't blame him, disney treated him and his team like trash. Alex Hirsch actually put out a list of all the silly or petty complaints that disney had and what needed to be changed. Though disney still begged for another season from him allegedly.
Not allegedly! I attended a talk of his back in April and he said that Disney wanted 4 seasons but he was firm on the show having a good beginning and ending and not milking it. He did get asked in the q&a if a gravity falls reboot or spin off could ever happen and he said no but he's not opposed to it if it doesn't ruin what the show is and the right people get together for it. He is releasing the book of bill in July tho! so it's a little bit more content on the show.

For me, the best way to address that last issue (appreciating the roommate's efforts in cooking, and wanting to encourage them, but not liking the things they've made) would be to go buy a few cookbooks. I'd start out with a basic skills overview book such as "The Encyclopedia of Cooking Skills & Techniques," "How To Cook," "The Elements of Cooking," or my personal favorite, "The Clever Cook's Kitchen Handbook. Once I'd selected one of those that was appropriate (there are others, of course, and they can be found in all sorts of themes, such a vegan, paleo, etc, but it's the "basic skills" focus that's important) I'd also pick out a couple more books, depending on what kind of cooking my friend was interested in doing. Are they showing a fascination for crock pot meals? The "Make it Fast, Cook it Slow" book series is a great base to start with and build from there! Do they seem focused on breakfasts like we'd expect to see available at a diner in most of rural America? There are a veritable heap of books focused on different regions of the US, and the diners and bed & breakfasts that have served guests over the decades. Since the roommate in this particular story seems focused on making omelets, I'd probably select something like, "Omelets, Quiches, & Egg Casseroles," which will provide a strong base of recipe ideas and skills while also offering inspiration for new possible uses of eggs (as a primary ingredient) as well as ideas about how these aren't only a breakfast item.
Once I've gotten at least 3-4 books, and also maybe picked up a new cooking tool of some kind as appropriate to the specific interest my roommate/family member/friend seems to be showing in coking (maybe something like a new apron, a set of nice oven mitts if they were using the oven much, muffin pans if they were baking, new set of spatulas more appropriate for flipping/manipulating eggs/omelets if they were into breakfasts, etc), I'd bundle them up together. Then I'd present the cookbooks and the new tool(s) to my roommate/friend/family member and let them know that I'd noticed that they'd been cooking more and exploring how different flavors and techniques worked together, and I was really enjoying it. I'd tell them that I have some experience cooking and baking, and I'd love to get back in the kitchen a bit and maybe we could cook together sometime and bounce ideas off of each other. Until then, I'd gotten them these things that I hoped might give them some new inspiration and thoughts on what they might like to make next.

@@cats1970I was a gymnast too, but I got some PTSD from one of my back injury and I can’t deal with any bone injury since. Ive seen most injuries happen too, but I can’t even hear stuff about it due to my PTSD. TW this is why: ( the two weeks after I got my injury I’d see ways people could get their knees and elbows bent the wrong way😭 typing this just AH. I’d see it when I closed my eyes and when I was doing everyday things, I’d see ways for it to happen on normal objects. Needless to say, it still haunts me but not 24/7 like the two weeks after my injury. I did bend my knee backwards at like 9, and had plenty of injuries, but since that later back injury, my brain fucked me up, I just can’t even if I were exposed to a lot. I still imagine ways when I’m exposed to new things which absolutely makes me want to puke or switch brains😭.)
@@sophiacalon3463 That makes total sense. The biggest factor for whether you develop PTSD after trauma is compounding incidents. AKA your first traumatic experience seems fine.
Then when you live through another thing, even if it's small compared to your first event, the brain goes "THIS IS A PATTERN THIS THING WILL KILL YOU IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN WE WILL NOW OBSESS OVER THE BIGGEST THREAT TO OUR SURVIVAL."
That's why PTSD treatment tends to delve into things like childhood issues. By the time PTSD forms you have to weed out all your traumas by the roots.
The gymnastics part of my PTSD is about listening to pain/your body. As you know gymnastics makes you push through all pain since the goal is to do stunts that seem beyond what the human body can do.
I can't tell what's too much because I continuously put too much stress on it through childhood. Until I was forced to quit at 16 from the damage. My orthopedic doctor told me "look if you keep going you're out of knees and in a wheelchair by 20." As much fun as it was it did fuck me up and staying away from gym is the best I can do. It's a long road, but we surely suffered through worse when we did gym right?

As a girl that had a hard time saying no to men. It is a conditioning, something that is born of abuse. This is still no excuse for her behavior, but it explains why she spiraled the way she did. There is something she has not addressed in her past. She will continue this behavior until she gets therapy.

Salmon and quinoa (or rice) is a tasty pescatarian dish. I season with salt, garlic, black pepper and rosemary, then rub olive oil on each side. Cook a few minutes on each side and its a tasty and relatively quick lunch / dinner 😋

The girl who came from the conservative household sounds a lot like me when I was younger even though I didn't cheat on anyone, but I was afraid to say no. I had been taking advantage of us. They're very early age and I was afraid of men to the point where I would have done what they asked when they asked and how they asked because I was conditioned that way. It took me a very long time to find myself and that with you all. I do agree does she does need to find herself. But unfortunately, this does happen in a lot of very conservative, most likely Christian households where they teach traditional values in the sense that a woman is supposed to submit to her man. So this reinforces the concept that you're not supposed to disobey men that is against God. And in a young mind, this can also lead to not speaking up and saying when someone is hurting you
