    In high school, the juggalos were the friendly outcasts. Many of my friends dressed that way with face paint, but they were harmless. The sort of people who would give you their last bit of food or give you the shirt off their back. I don't know about todays juggalos tho.
    edit: just saw the live chat and someone said "whoop whoop" which is the juggalo call 😂 I am not even kidding.

    First Story, frankly I believe he was waaaaay too lenient, a parent shouldn't tolerate their children cursing them out.
    I feel like OP grew up in a very abusive situation (leading him to drugs) and now is afraid to discipline his son, bc he would perceive it as "violent".

      I used to be super into ICP and horror core in general. I think I listened to the dark carnival on repeat daily for months, even got my little brother into it and we bonded over music for the first time. Since then I've broadened my tastes but I'll still let ICP play anytime it pops up on my playlist. The fact that people get bent out of shape over self-expression really only makes their kids dig their heels in harder, it's really stupid on the parents part... IMHO. The community is 9 times out of 10 what theyre after, and things kids do to find acceptance could be so so SO much worse. Love your kids allow them to be who they are and experiment with their identity. There's only so long until society sucks their souls away anyway.

    I thought to myself “this dad needs to have a heart to heart with his kid after the yelling” and that is exactly what he needed. My parents were strict, but always checked in and were vulnerable about arguments when they were trying to protect us. Explaining why they set these rules always smoothed things out between us after disagreements and I saw why my parents were so strict. It’s all in the name of helping or protecting the kids and kids can see it if you respect them enough to explain things to them and just be real and vulnerable. Most kids can anyways. Certain neurodivergent kids might need some more explaining but this kind of vulnerability and respect is super helpful in these tense situations

So being in a lot of pain constantly, I get it, it's easy to be snippy and nasty. But you need to treat people the way they deserve to be treated. She doesn't need to be acting like a complete Ahole. As a Midwesterner, I read face paint & teenagers, and already knew without a doubt what it was. 😂 this dad doesn't seem to have ever been exposed to poverty or a rough upbringing. How are you surprised by all this stuff? The juggalo community probably gives his girlfriend some much needed family. 🤷

    • @swhitson9633
      @swhitson9633 6 месяцев назад +14

      Since when do you have to know what jugglalos are to have experienced a rough upbringing or poverty? Lol. I knew ONE juggalo growing up and he was a spoiled, wealthy farm kid. Meanwhile I was already in a treatment centre by age 13 and in foster homes & stuff, but never once felt like I wanted to be a juggalo. When I hung out with the juggalo kid I was 14 and homeless, and he got dropped off by his parents with full face paint on (which I felt embarrassed by) and he was telling me about his horses lol. Juggalo doesn't equal tough upbringing or poverty. It's just a preference in style & music, nothing more. Also, the dad in the story used to be a coke addict and said he comes from a family of addicts so that's even more reason for you to not make that assumption about him.

    Man that travel friend is a pain. Reminds me of a business trip i had one year. My hotel partner was a big lady with trouble walking etc and she didn’t prepare for a lot of walking (like renting a scooter chair at the convention center) . It was a business convention so lots of walking. I had fallen arches, and SI joint pain, they hurt plus my back pain ugh. i researched travel friendly therapy pain management devices. For example i brought refillable ice packs (hotel ice would be used) my meds cushioned insoles, different shoes in case my feet suddenly up and say “i hate these runners” and a massage wand from con air,.. what a life saver. Anyways this chick would get more and more witchy and practically shouting ow ow ow in the hotel room and told me to just put the ice on her back for her. I thought you can take a turn when i am done but i need them too. The fool kept demanding them and she would fill them and use them and omg refuse to get up for the next days meetings ignoring me when i tried to wake her up, then i go alone and she gets mad at me for not getting more ice for the packs before i left etc. WTF.
    Entitled. That’s what that is.
    One day i came back to the hotel i think 2nd last day and i grabbed my packs off her,.. refilled them went down to the lobby and put my feet up watching the rain storm come in with a pop in hand and talked to other guests for a few hours. (We ordered a pizza for a lobby party so fun! ) Felt awesome icing my feet and having great conversation. 😊
    I havnt spoken to that woman in i think a good 12 years now. 😊
    Breaking up my friendship with her was the best thing i did. We didnt suit and neither does Cheryl from the story suit with that entitled travel partner.

    Tough call.... My entire family believes in corporal punishment. My partner doesn't so there is conflict there. I think if Dad couldn't lay down an A**whopping, calling the cops is the next best thing. Letting that kid disregard his dad was the only unacceptable opinion for me.

    • @tcfan80

      I was raised with corporal punishment (genx) and raised my oldest with it, too. I had my youngest 6 years after my oldest & realized that hitting doesn't teach anything except fear. That's not true respect. My kids are now 24 & 18, and I haven't heard from my oldest since Aug 2021.💔
      I went no-contact with my parents and siblings 9+yrs ago. I was BEAT, tho. I also dealt with emotional abuse and mind games bc my mom fits the definition of narcissistic.
      If I am not willing to go back to my mom, I can't expect her to either.
      I have taken accountability and apologized numerous times. I have also changed my ways. My parents never have & never will.

    • @teamthoth
      @teamthoth 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@tcfan80 there may be a cultural element to it but everyone on my side of the family has a good relationship with Thier parents and almost all of us were beat... Some within inches of Thier life. One of my uncles had his front teeth knocked out by my grandparents. One of my aunt's had gotten pregnant young and was beat until she miscarried. We're Samoan so meeting one of us that didn't get whooped growing up is rare. My aunt was the scariest... She used to beat all our booties if we didn't say our multiplication numbers fast enough or spell things wrong. She is the reason we had 2 valedictorians in our family and I had an equally strict uncle that sent 2 in our family to west point that way.
      I can't be that way with my kids as the fear I experienced still haunts me but it's the first thing that pops into my head when they act up and I have to talk myself down.
      All of us are on good terms with our parents but I think there is recognition of what they went through and maybe pity or an understanding that was all they knew. I haven't seen anyone in my generation of cousins repeat that cycle but who knows what happens behind closed doors.

    My dad is always been a bit of like a metal head guy kind of and he worked in the music industry for years. He used to listen to ICP all the time. My cousin has five boys and they all run around, her too, like juggalos and juggalettes, it involves the midget wrestling world too somehow. It was definitely bigger like back in the 90s and early 2000s. There was literally like a whole movement, and depending on where you were in the country and how big their base was in your area it could have been considered a gang; especially because their music is considered violent and their logo is hatchet man. Some of their music isn't bad, if you have a dark sense of humor and can stomach some gory lyrics. There's a skit on the album where the guy calls the suicide hotline, if you're easily offended I would recommend not listening to it😂😂 "if you're going to do it do it outside or something" 😂😂

    Fibromyalgia is extremely painful. When doing normal every day things like getting dressed it hurts so bad tears poor out of my eyes and I don't notice I am crying before I wonder where all the water is coming from. I do have an issue with throwing up and once I get started it will not stop for 18 to 48 hours. I just thought that was a me thing I didn't know it was a Fibromyalgia thing. That being said I pick up my service dog's poop. I NEVER leave it and can't stand it when able body people leave dog poop. I would never demand my friend clean up my dog's poop much less my own human poop. It is okay if you require extra help but if you require that take a care giver with you on the trip and pay for the stays in the camp grounds yourself. I travel alone. It is extremely hard but I feel like it is important for me to learn to cope with my disabilities.

    Fibromyalgia- an autoimmune illness that causes symptoms like limited energy, brainfog, post-exertional neuroimmune exhaustion, and most importantly, pain. So much pain. Every sensory input is painful to some extent. I can see how it makes some people snappy. It can also make certain sounds unbearable, ditto bright or flickering light. Sleep is hard to get and unrefreshing 'cause Pain. It's incurable. Sounds like that lady needs to start trying other earbuds; if one set hurt her another may not. Travelling will be so hard for this lady, I'm really surprised she went in for it. Perhaps she overestimated her limits.
    Source: I have fibromyalgia, comorbid with myalgic encephalomyelitis. I hope Cheryl can find a happier place where she can be less snappy and miserable.

    5:32 actually you can tell a child what to wear because you're the one giving the money and giving them Wi-Fi a house and the clothes they wear on their back. Especially when you going to a family cookout or a family dinner with all relatives looking like a marana idiot with face paint on as if you just got from a concer looking like you're on drugs. At a certain age like 17 to 18 and up you can't cuz at that point they have a thought courtesy of their own by law. Especially when you're going for a job interview or just out in public and you try to get a job and they're like aren't you the guy who was wearing that face paint all the time if so I don't want you working at my job because you look ridiculous. You can do it when you're comfortable in your home or out in concerts or parties but in job interviews and family cookouts and family reunions or anything family related you keep that somewhere else cuz you look terrible do others who may have an opinion on you and you can't stop that because that's how the world works

    Jugalos aren't a "GANG" that was the stewpid D.E.A. they are just dorky fans who paint their faces in clown paint. They are really community oriented though their songs might sound extreme but they actually preach inclusion and supporting your friends and family. The band are actually Christians of all things.

  • @ryanbashor7371

    Juggalos ARE NOT A GANG. I hate so much that people are saying theyre a gang. it's just a group of basically outcasts who don't have anybody to fit in with for to fit in. Because they accept well old school juggalos basically accept everybody and they didn't do this new crap where they gatekeep their music and stuff. I am / was a juggalo. I still listen to ICP I still wear their clothing, and if there are concerts I absolutely go. They are friendly, accepting, it's just like a family. At least old school juggalos were I don't know anything about this new school juggalo crap. I never painted my face or anything not even to go to concerts but a lot of my friends did. I wasn't an outcast or anything but I like the music I liked my friends that were juggalos, even like I was a cheerleader, I had a couple cheerleader friends who were also juggalos like it was just like a family thing. Plus their music is badass. Twiztid is my favorite.

    yeah i don't think the OP is violent, but when that was his dads answer to stop him from doing stupid things ,
    which btw it didn't work if he was addicted to cocaine but whatever,
    that he'd think that would work too,
    this is why spanking is not good,
    spanking just teaches the kid to hit other people when they are wronged.
    that showed alot on the show supernanny.
    it's why she doesn't condone spanking.
    and you see the kids on those shows hitting eachother,
    and it's cause they get spanked.
    that's probably why that thought naturally comes up for OP, his dad normalized it.

    The father in the face paint story did the right thing, a 16 year old kid will always think they know better than their parents, he will not listen to them, less when he is head over heels over a girl and is also rebelling against all his parents believes and morals, calling the cops was a "you will get in real life trouble for that behavior" no amount of grounding a kid already swearing/disrespecting their parents and having/consuming drugs will work on him at this point, he needs real life consequences to actually pay attention

    Dad wasn’t in the wrong. It’s his house. If someone won’t leave your home, you have the right to call the cops on them. The son doesn’t run the house. Period. You don’t get privacy, you don’t get locks on your door and you sure the hell don’t get to yell and scream.

    • @Nathan_Bookwurm
      @Nathan_Bookwurm 6 месяцев назад

      I agree in some degree, but it's also the mums house and she didn't agree on calling the cops. Until 18 it's also the kid's house - since parents are obliged to care for them at least 18 years - so all members in the family have a say (parents more than kids ofc) when it's about privacy and running the house. Sure, dad can run the house like the king of the castle but then he shouldn't be surprised when he ends alone. A family household is a group effort.
