I was out at the roommate's parents cleaning OP's closet! That's a huge invasion of privacy. Like clan your kid's closet if you want to but keep your nosy ass out of my stuff!
As for being an adult, I still often don't feel like an adult and I'm 40!
I would also change the locks on the apartment even if they did give the keys back. I can see that entitled mom coming back in just to parent OP because she feels like she has a right to do it.

Even though he returned the key, it's always best in these types of situations to have the locks changed anyway. There's nothing keeping somebody from making multiple copies of a key. You loaned them for even just an hour let alone something they've had in their possession for months

There are noise ordinances during the day in residential areas. My neighbor learned that when he got two noice citations. It not my problem that he has no job and nothing better to do then sit in his car for HOURS smoking weed and his bass bumping so loud I can’t work from home without risk of getting fired.

Bruh, at first the mom letting herself in sounded pretty chill, until she would be going through my shit? Fuck that. I hate when my own parents get nosey. I’ll put a goddamn fucking deadbolt and a keypad entrance on that door, I swear to god. I will etch with a laser or a drill to a message saying, “if you’re a locksmith trying to unlock this door, call my number.” Just to make sure that these parents couldn’t go behind my back to get a locksmith to get into my room, because they definitely seem the type. I will *BARRICADE* my room and leave out the window before I give someone a chance to go through my shit.

So in some neighborhoods, including mine houses will shake when the music is too loud like things will vibrate off the walls and pets will start freaking out to the point where they’re traumatized. I have this one cat that’s Too stupid to be afraid of anything, and it actually scared her, although based on the neighbors reactions, it sound like the OP left something out but if it was how OP was describing it, I don’t think she is the a hole

We got one car on our street that blasts music so loud my house vibrates and the dogs go crazy. You can hear the glasses clinking in the cabinets when they pass.
I would be yelling at the OP's neighbor's ride, if it was loud like that. Forget the parents, not listen to them. Their child is 18, I will yell at them if I want.

14:40 mark: Your majesty, respectfully I have to disagree with you. The roommate is not blameless here, just because your parents are overbearing doesn’t mean you get to let them walk all over other people in your life. OP invited the roommate to live with them, the roommate gave her parents a spare key, then she gave her parents no boundaries, she let her parents disrespect OP, she let her parents run the apartment like it was their own, she let the parents be all over OP’s privacy and autonomy and try and basically parent OP. Everything was because of her lack of self respect and boundaries with her parents. Everything is a consequence of her actions whether directly or indirectly, and now she has to deal with those consequences.

When I was about 26, I was commuting on the train to work and reading a book. This older man (maybe 40-50 years old) started trying to talk to me by asking if that was a book I was reading for high school. It was a modern fantasy book that I've never heard any school use in curriculum before and idk how it even would be. I didn’t want to engage in further conversation with him, so I simply said "No" and kept reading. He kept trying to ask if I was reading it for some sort of school obligation and where I went to school and I kept only saying "no" or vague answers without looking up. If I didn’t respond he would move closer to me as if I couldn't hear him.
I had graduated high school at least 8 years prior to this and university several years prior as well, but he was so fixated and sure I was a teenager which didn't stop him trying to ask me questions on the whole 30 min commute to work. I kept trying to move away from him, but the train was so packed that there was barely an inch or two between me and the people around me. It was a huge relief when I finally got to my station and got off the train. Thankfully, I never saw him again.

San Juan is a night for big bonfires on the beach in Spain, then at midnight everyone jumps in the sea to baptise themselves (St. John the Baptist). After that people jump over their bonfires for fun if they're brave. It's fabulous fun and usually everyone brings drinks and food to share and cook, sometimes there are toasted marshmallows for Smores (that was usually my contribution, being the only American). My ex and his bandmates would bring guitars and a cajon and play till the next morning.

Story 2. I would be very interested to know if OP is white and/or what the race of the neighbours or the friend dropping Teddy off is. Because as a person with a mixed race father who dropped me off places as a kid, I’m hearing a lot of dog whistles, especially dog whistles that I hear applied to young Black men often. “Shifty music” in his car “looking for attention” when he was clearly checking before turning at a stop sign, “too loud” when it’s the middle of the day in public/on their own property. Also it would make way more sense why he called her a Karen, because that’s exactly what the word Karen started out as, a description of white women who try to use their perceived privilege to berate or even call the cops on black people for disturbances they aren’t actually causing.
And it would especially make me understand the parents reaction because I have also GONE OFF on people for talking about my dad or male cousins in similar ways because I know what they MEAN is actually trying to be exclusionary of Black men in certain public spaces.

If you don’t live somewhere then you shouldn’t have a key. If you are a parent you don’t deserve a key unless you pay for the apartment. Kids if move out of the home give up the key unless parents are ok with you keeping the key.

I had the same situation with my husband's roommates. I was only over when my husband was there, 2-3 times a week, otherwise he was at my place. We only cooked from his groceries, but I've absolutely bought things. If I showered there it was at the same time as my now husband. Yet his roommates, two of which were a couple and I'm sure it was her idea, told him that I should be paying rent or at least pay for electricity. I argued, because that sounded so silly. Our solution was to move out into our own place.

First story…OP said in the very beginning that she and R didn’t get along in High School. I don’t think having R move out is going to affect the girls’ relationship. R’s parents own 3 Subways and they’re almost broke? I’d question that. I’m thinking that R’s parents were looking for free room and board for R to save them money. I’m sure that R’s parents are the ones that said they were going broke just to take advantage of OP’s parents. Glad R is being evicted.

I'm 38 and still don't feel like an adult sometimes. But I'm also not the same person like 10 or even 5 years ago. You keep evolving, learning and changing. It's good to keep a bit of child in you, some people without it or just bitter in my opinion, no matter the age. It's also difficult being an adult all the time, it gives pressure and can cause a lot of stress and you need to find a way to get rid of those emotions. Keep learning (about yourself) and you will find your way. Love the show, but now that you two are making solo's shouldn't it be: OKOP Show with Sam, John, Sophia and Riley?

When they have a key, it is not breaking in.
As for the loud music one, there is this thing called common courtesy.
You never know what your neighbours are dealing with. People also work shift work.
Did she overreact? Sure, but it all comes back to common courtesy no matter what the noise bylaws are.

I live in a small neighborhood community. We have three different neighbors who one or the other are always blaring music during the day. U shouldn't be able to hear in the house. Both my mom and middle sister work from home. I do understand ops sixe here. Although they could have handled it better. We also have delivery ppl that do this too. And when u go to appointments and i have to use Medicaid transportation and sometimes when they park and get out of the vehicle to unload the ramp for my wheelchair they sometimes leave thier radio up really loud. I hate this. Imo its very unprofessional. But again op really should have handled it better. Like were they having a bad day and that was the last straw? Not that that's a good excuse.

Riley should be able to have a lock on HIS room Sophia. There is no sane or acceptable reason why you need or have a right to just barge in. He’s a grown man. You aren’t together. He deserves his privacy. You trying to gaslight him into not wanting one was stinky. Shame on you.

I have really loud neighbors that sometimes literally I want to cry, but all this things are in the day, and I also would feel weird calling someone on them, it isn't popular in my coutry to call for nosie hmm... But yeah they are loud with music and talking like I hear everything, like they would sit next to me and talk... I think part is how buldings are, simply sound really goes around, but bc they are loud then it all adds and makes it sometimes too much, I close all windows then, this is literally only thing that helps ehh...
I'm always happy when winter is bc I don't hear them bc they have close windows too, but only it gets a little warmer and they have all windows open music on full and they don't talk they scream at each other (and this typ of talking is normal for their culture, so I don't make it bigger then it is, they literally scream instant of talking), they moved like year after us and before it was so quiet here, like I feel betreyed...
And second loud noise is the kids, when it becomes warmer kids start to go out more and they are loud a f*, but yeah it is normal that kids go around scream etc or have like loud toys, but bc like I said buldings are in this way like clised from sides "" they make ideal atmosphere for sounds to travel we live at 4th floor and I hear literally word for word what people say, so yeah that isn't really on the kids. But I'm soo over it... so much noise....
Thanks God we have AC so we can close windows in summer and have quiet time and nit die from overheat.

Sophia has a "baby face" just like me. (I hope thats the correct term here.) :)) But be glad for that. It's annoying only in teens and early 20s when we all wanna grow up and be/feel as adults as soon as possible but for the rest of your life you're gonna love it. xD Nothing boosts a woman's ego like people guessing you 10 yrs less in your 30s! Or when a part-timer cashier asked for my ID when buying a beer to make sure I was over 18yrs when I was 28. xD

Last story: Mia was jealous because she feels like she's lacking and she didn't want Molly there because she's afraid the comparison will highlight how she's lacking. So instead of dealing with her insecurity and working towards improving herself or her self esteem she instead made Molly "the problem" in an attempt to remove the comparison that way. Blaming Molly means she doesn't have take any personal responsibility for why she feels insecure and doesn't have to change.

Wow the first story makes me so upset.. that “mother” sounds very, VERY jealous of the girl. I don’t understand how her parents could be friends with that lady. To go through her private personal items and to ridicule and criticize her (instead she should have been using that time working so she could provide her own daughter with a space 🤦‍♀️). Here she’s traumatizing this girls whose parents are generously providing for and helping her and her daughter. What is wrong with ppl? And no the girls shouldn't talk to her especially since she is abusing & much more her. I don’t know what is happening next I just had to pause at 9:55 to speak my peace because I truly don’t understand why some older women do this kind of thing.. jealousy? Control? Power? Sadistic? A very cruel person.
