The dirty shirley is my favorite pedal and I have alot of pedals. Almost every Marshall in a box made. The Dirty Shirley is Great for low volume bedroom playing which is what I do. The pedal sounds awesome and has great note clarity.
"Buxom Betty is a clean amplifier" Funny, because I TOTALLY LOOOOOVE the overdrive that kicks in very soon (I'm using UAD Plugin and it starts to break up around 3), I recorded countless rock songs driving the Buxom Betty amp plugin and it gives me really THE NICEST tone I've ever heard on a guitar
I have the Dirty Shirley, and I really enjoy it, but I’m a circuit nerd and I need to know; is it really just a TL072 driven LED clipper? All the schematics I’ve seen make it look like two cascaded Klons.
Dirty Shirley needs a sister: Naughty Betty! Clean on the outside and naughty deep down. Somewhere between a Vertex Steel String & a Dirty Shirley. Clean boost to lower-to-mid gain and naughty when turned up or stacked with a DS!
hate the dirty shirley.... or was it just the guy with the hair , playing whatever that was he was playin'-- haha! the other 'pedal' sounds just the same! ah, i'd like either one, or both, i guess, but i've got a spider amp! an old one! how do the newer spiders sound, does anyone know?
i'd love to have lots of effects, of course it's also just a distraction and the more you've got, the more difficult it would be to recall all the settings and whatnot...i like to play, i'm no engineer or technician...i should have a fulltime guitar tech just to keep my 3 guitars playable--haha
I have the Line 6 Spider II 75 watt. I can't remember when it was built, but it's definitely not new. It's a pretty good amp even with all the hate it gets.
mine's 50 watts, and looks to be like a very early,if not the first model...the effects are a bit weak, just better than none at all...the distortion is great, really good range, and the chorus effect is cool...so a newer spider has better effects, at least slightly better, which would be nice...but i can't imagine wanting anything louder than this 50-watt thing can get!
I bought the buxom boost way back in October when it was first released..must say, I was so disappointed. I was waiting for it since its showing at the NAMM show of Jan. last year. Terrible pedal in my opinion. Much better boosts out there. Way overpriced.

Dave's amps & pedals are second to none.
I love Friedman stuff. It doesn't get much better. I didn't know however that David Friedman would remind me of a turnip.
