Just got this pedal yesterday. Boosting a mk4 and Splawn streetrod. Fantastic boost but it does so much more . Just sounds like a natural extension of your amp.
I just picked one of these up thinking I would run it into the Dirty Shirley then into my Marshall DSL 40c combo. That sounded good but I wanted to see how the BB would sound as an always on pedal right in front of the amp. Wow! It fixes the combo's eq, makes even the clean sound more muscular and then when I run the Dirty Shirley or even a BE-OD into it, it sounds great! No flub on the bottom, no ear piercing highs either. I'm gigging on Saturday and think this will be my sound.
Pete, all of these demo intro songs are amazing, they should ALL go into an album! I'd buy it in a heartbeat! Also, that middle position on the Macmull is killer!
Pete, a short demo with bass guitar is always appreciated! I wish more dudes included a bass… I watch a lot of guitar vids with the hopes of at least hearing a little bit. ❤
Awesome video - I really dig how you really show how a audio tool like this one can be used for certain situations . What might sound good for one song doesn’t always sound good for the next so it’s great to have a variety of tools that can make it easier to get the job done . Again great video Pete !! Keep them coming !!
"Lie to your friends, tell them Friedman modded your Fender." Instructions not clear. Now I have no friends. Just kidding. I didn't have any friends to begin with.
The pedal is cool. I have one and was amazed I could use it as a clean channel preamp with my Two Notes Cab M should I want to. However, I find it really odd that the Treble knob has a center detent, while the middle and bass knobs do not. Very odd design choice. The boost knob is interesting as well. Generally boost pedals (true boost pedals, I mean) start at unity, and go up from there. This, however, seems to get unity around 9:00. Either way, you can boost the hell out of a stock Marshall JCM800 to get well into that "modded and hot rodded" modern territory.
Nice FooFighters-y groove, and a nice P90 guitar...a cool pedal, too. ps Can it be used as a 'on all the time, makes everything a bit better with a clean tube amp' kind of pedal?
Great demo like always brother! I've been thinking of getting this pedal for an eq as well as a boost pedal at the end of my pedal board. Currently at the end I'm running my bogner harlow, after seeing your demo of it, but I think this boost makes more sense. Love the new guitar brother and the Claddagh!
Yeah I would already have this pedal if the EQ was on a footswitch. I'm using a Koko Boost which has a similar thing going... a clean boost with a second footswitchable mid boost that goes on top. The Buxom Boost would do the same thing except you'd have more control over the mid boost using the EQ - the Koko pedal just gives you a 2 way switch for the mid boost tone shaping. But the footswitch is a must for me.
@Pete Thorn Was just wondering what bass your playing , i didn't see a name on the head stock. And that string tree is unique lol It sounds killer!! :) Awesome vid as always man \m/
Sounds great! But I'm a bit confused... seems like the online retailers (Sweetwater) say it's true bypass but Pete is saying it's buffered... anybody know if it's indeed true bypass or buffered? I'm looking for a boost like this that is buffered to put at the beginning of my chain...
Did you buy the MacMull?so jealous. I'm a single dad and I've literally been working hard and saving for almost two years and I still don't have enough money for the American special strat I want
Try just playing chords you know- then moving one note, start with the bass note. Just experiment moving one note. Sop for example, play an a chord, 1st position- then play it with G in the bass, then F#... then F.. now the F doesn't sound so good with the C# note on the 2nd string but just move that one note to C... mess around like that, only moving one note in the chord, and only altering other notes when they really clash. That's basically what i do. :)
Sorry I don't hear the magic how that tightens up the Bassman, not in any good sounding way at least. It may be just me but that didn't sound Marshally to me either. I was really interested in that function.
I really enjoy your channel Pete! This is the first time that the tone and song were way off for my taste. I know you'll be doing a great vijeo next time.
Pete Thorn, I thought it looked a bit big for a band.. But I had to ask...keep rocking man... You're the best at what you're doing here on RUclips. 👍🎸🎸🎸🎸
Most underrated guitarist in the world, right here....
I know Im pretty randomly asking but do anyone know of a good website to watch new movies online ?
@Clay Hendrix i watch on FlixZone. You can find it on google =)
@Emory Parker yea, have been using flixzone for since april myself =)
@Emory Parker Thank you, I signed up and it seems to work :) I really appreciate it !
@Clay Hendrix no problem =)
I love new demos here. Not just because they're in depth and informative, but because each comes with a new kick ass track to enjoy.

Tears of joy from that track, man. Always love your stuff but that one went especially hard
Nice.....Ive got the BE-OD and Dirty Shirley pedals, now I gotta get this one too \m/
Great demo song as always Pete. You always deliver the goods. Great sounding pedal indeed!
Pete, all of these demo intro songs are amazing, they should ALL go into an album! I'd buy it in a heartbeat! Also, that middle position on the Macmull is killer!

Man that Mcmull sounds ultra "wirey" I bet it was a blast to play with that tone.
6:40 "Tonight there's gonnnnnna be a jail-break..."
Killer tones all around Pete!
Jail Break! Oh man, we used to cover that back in the day. Fun song!
Outstanding playing and tones, as always! Bravo!

The Friedman Buxom Boost has that "Marshall gone Tweed" vibe in a very good way!
So many good things happened in this vid, another PT signature? Thank you!
"Lie to your friends, tell them Friedman modded your Fender."

I thought the Bassman with the Buxom Boost sounded a bit like a Dirty Shirley (hot rodded JTM45). Makes sense.
Great Demo , as usual.
Thanks Pete.
This might be my new SD-1 which i mainly use as a high-pass filter when playing baritone. Nice review.
Nice FooFighters-y groove, and a nice P90 guitar...a cool pedal, too.
ps
Can it be used as a 'on all the time, makes everything a bit better with a clean tube amp' kind of pedal?
Came here to say the same! It's Foo Fighters all the way. Great track.
Great Demo Pete - love those P90's what a great tone.
Pete, I appreciate your informative videos. Excellent playing too. Thanks for sharing.
That new Suhr sig model is sic Pete! So nice!
Gotta love the new Marshall! ;) Sounds great Pete!
I bought the Friedman BE OD cuz of your demo.. and it's great
I dig it! I have a Gibson LP Special DC with P90’s and I love it!
Great demo like always brother! I've been thinking of getting this pedal for an eq as well as a boost pedal at the end of my pedal board. Great demo Pete. And that P90 T- Wow!

Awesome demo as always. Great playing.
I love this guy! Killer demos
Great tune, Pete!
Awesome as always Pete 👏👌
Orrrright - love a bit of Thin Liz!
That's a great sounding track
Haha. Jailbreak used to be one of our top covers back in the day with my old band! You play it better than I did... although I did sing it too.
Great stuff Pete !
Jailbreak, such a killer tune :)
Love your vids man, always on point playing and great demos
+J H thank u!
Great video,I've been looking at this buxom boost, now I'm going to get one :-)
Damn those p90s sound great.. and yeah, that vibe is awesome
Sweet! That bassman tone was off the hook. Tonight there's gonna be a jailbreak... If only that eq switch was on a footswitch...
Yeah I would already have this pedal if the EQ was on a footswitch. I'm using a Koko Boost which has a similar thing going... a clean boost with a second footswitchable mid boost that goes on top. I've been wanting to check out the new BE-50 Deluxe, but, I can't get that Dave kid to GIVE ME one.
Gee! I thought it was David Beckham playing guitar! Again awesome review Pete!
Very informative review as always. Rock on!
Love your channel!
Nice one Pete!!
Gret demo as always Pete. Btw I see a Boss ES-8 on the floor there with all the other pedals. Guess a possible demo's coming of that one?
Any chance to get a glance at how you set up your video lightning? Your videos always look very natural!
Awesome awesome awesome Pete! Let get you more subscribers !
@Pete Thorn Was just wondering what bass your playing , i didn't see a name on the head stock. And that string tree is unique lol It sounds killer!! :) Awesome vid as always man \m/
Another great demo. Have your pcs that you use at the beginning of each demo ever been fleshed out into full songs
Those P90s sound incredible. Anyone know what model they are? Custom wound maybe?
Nice Macmull!
Reverend guitars P90's sounds really GOOD.
Wow, that Macmull has some serious treble.
Sounds great! But I'm a bit confused... seems like the online retailers (Sweetwater) say it's true bypass but Pete is saying it's buffered... anybody know if it's indeed true bypass or buffered? I'm looking for a boost like this that is buffered to put at the beginning of my chain...
Lead in should def be an album track!
That intro track was very LA man, could only be from California. Reminds me of the great soundtrack songs from Califorication ;)
Great video as always Pete. Can you tell a novice where you would put it in the pedal chain for best effect? Currently I'm relying on a Boss MS3
I need one of these
Buxom boost or Suhr Koko. Which should I get and why?
Hello, for you wich pedal or combo of pedal could capture the sound of Jerry Cantrell ?
Thanks
Did you buy the MacMull?so jealous. I'm a single dad and I've literally been working hard and saving for almost two years and I still don't have enough money for the American special strat I want
I like that tele style guitar in the beginning, what is it?
kickass demo !!!!
Looks like you're over the jet lag from Germany dude lol...great pedal and jam! Yep, tighter is better said Friedman! hahaaa
Ugh another 200$, its only money$$$$ !! I wish you'd do some vids on chord theory. You use the most kick as voicings, very tasty and musical!!!
Thanks Pete! I will try that!!
man... no words!
+BarbasBandas 666 🙏
I wonder how this will pair with an older mess boogie 2ch Dual rec
I see somebody came back from GuitCon with some extra luggage ;-) Sounds great!
Sorry I don't hear the magic how that tightens up the Bassman, not in any good sounding way at least. It may be just me but that didn't sound Marshally to me either. I was really interested in that function.
What about Friedman guitars?
It's soft and warm
I need a dang P90 guitar!!
this or xotic rc booster...?
The demo and your hair was on point 👌🏼👌🏼✨✨
As usual, great demo, but with the added benefit of a boatload of humor. This one really had me laughing. Flat out amazing video.
Heh, Pete, your bass face is different to your guitar face. Funny. Nice vid, mate.
Badass!
nice!
Why doesn't anyone ever demo a clean boost with an actual clean tone?!
I didn't mind the bloated sound
ya its not Deluxe style bloat just typical vintage lower damped tone
I really enjoy your channel Pete! This is the first time that the tone and song were way off for my taste. I know you'll be doing a great vijeo next time.
P90s!!!!!!
Enjoyed the video
Sounded like No More, No More tone
try switching it on an off more so we can tell the difference between the fender and plexi Ishmael tone.
I wanna like this cuz its a very good review but....the likes are at 666 right now ,and I don't want to mess with that.
Something that trims off the bass and boosts the mids......when have I heard of that before, hmmmmmmmm
+VoxPathfinder15R if you want it to! Or not, if you don’t.
Pete, did you get married?
+jim phelps bag nah, my ring with 3 skulls just fits on that finger 😂
Pete Thorn, I thought it looked a bit big for a band.. But I had to ask...keep rocking man... You're the best at what you're doing here on RUclips. 👍🎸🎸🎸🎸
I don't know about a video that recommends tightening up the back end while kicking the crap out of the front. Might have to report this one! HAHA!
