Have you heard the idea that we have 20 pounds of toxic poop in our colons? Today we're going to talk about if there's any truth to it.
I don't think the average person or even a person with constipation has 10 or 20 pounds of toxic waste in their colon. It's not impossible for someone to have this much waste in their colon, but it's rare.
Waste is not always toxic. Many people think they need to flush out waste to be clean and healthy. But, when people do these cleanses, they also flush out friendly bacteria that they need to help with digestion and many other things.
Different factors can affect the material going through your system. If someone is constipated, they need to consider probiotics and fiber. But, you need to get your fiber from vegetables and your probiotics from foods or a high-quality probiotic supplement.
Herbal laxatives can also be beneficial, but keep in mind that the root cause of your constipation relates to something wrong with your diet. Ultimately, fixing your diet is the best thing you can do to help with digestive problems.

I've studied nutrition for many years now after discovering how diet contributes to cancer. But even so, your vid has added to what I've learned. This type of stuff should be taught in school.
Don't you study different diets around the world and like the US people poop 3 to 4oz a day and people in many places with a much healthier diet poop at least a 1lb a day.
The harm that junk food and sugary drinks and alcohol does to the human body should definitely be taught in school.

My mother recovered from cancer last year, only to pass away from what was basically constipation in January. She was in so much pain that it caused a heart attack. Just found your channel. Binge watching everything you’ve made! So informative. Thank you Doc! Going to share with my Dad.
Researches are learning that the gut microbiome MUST be restored. SPORES are what survive to reach the GI tact and are the rebulders.
I’m so sorry. I’ve dealt with constipation myself and I know how mentally and physically painful it is. Condolences.
It could have been diverticulitis. Which is so indescribably painful. I take 600 mg of magnesium at night in gummy form. Especially after surgery.
I'm so sorry to read this about your mom. Sounds terrible.
My sympathies for the loss of your Mom. So sad. My uncle was going 2x per week because he was very constipated from a Parkinson’s med called levadopa. He started taking 6000 vit C and tons of Magnesium Citrate per day. His bowels started moving 2x per day!
Back in 2005, I once had a major case of food poisoning and I spent hours on the toilet that night. I actually lost 8 pounds! 😱
You also lost water though
Another vital & informative video! Dr. Berg, you are brilliant in your knowledge of the human body. always explaining medical issues in a detailed, easy to understand manner.
My husband and I did a 9 day water fast one time and we pooped every day and even on the 10th day,. Pooping after 9 days of consuming nothing but water is remarkable.
I've had to have a colonoscopy.
I don't think they're pounds of toxic poop in colon
However, when I was a child, I was constipated because of being born with a fissure in the rectum.
At least once a month. I had to have an enema.
Rarely have I been constipated since puberty...
If I did..menses loosened it 😊

THIS MAN IS NOT A DOCTOR
I didn't know how poop was toxic until I've got diagnosed with liver cirrosis. In final stages of that sickness, I had dementia symptoms because my liver didn't worked and I had to take and horrid medicinal syrup to help my body cleaning my blood. I trembled so badly that couldn't use a pencil anymore, don't remember words when I spoke and was not able to use my phone anymore. I needed somes trips at the hospital because I had poop in my intestines and it intoxicated my blood. I had to take prophylactic antibiotics for almost a year because if I don't, I had life threatening fever. All thoses symtoms were because some poop was in my intestines for more than 8h. Its very very toxic and we have no idea all the jobs ours liver do before it starts failing. I had a transplant last year, at days of dying of liver failure. I was lucky. Take great care of your body everyone because you don't know how mutch it's important before it's start failing.
Bless you and thx for sharing your experience.
God bless you brother 🙏❤️
Give thanks and I’m happy that you found out in time and take action. We have to take care of our bodies, if we don’t want to have all these illnesses and making so many trips to the doctor when in fact it’s just our way of eating . Some people have backed up poop in their system and the poisonous toxins from it can cause all those problems because the liver cleanses the blood before it’s taken to all the various parts of the body and if the liver is overworked and can’t do its job any more then we are going to end up with all these problems with toxins spilling out in the bloodstream affecting our brain, getting dizzy spells , fevers and even pain in the legs . So put the right stuff in your body and you will get good result.
i’m so glad you got a transplant before it as too late.i think the information in your post will help a lot of people. thank you for posting.
Have you tried Yoga and Ayurveda, it reverses liver problems
I had my second colonoscopy several months ago. I came out with pain in the left groin area. The doc who performed the procedure told me the initial entrance was difficult because my lower colon had an unusually tight bend. He also said I didn't fully clean out..but he did get a good look at everything. He recommended that a juvenile scope be used the next time. Those words cleared some history for me. When I had a hernia repair in 1998, the doc told me he would make 4 small incisions. When I woke, I had a 6" cut across my groin. He told me he found my lower gut kinked. I didn't give it much further thought. In 2005, I had my first colonoscopy. The doc said I hadn't cleaned out fully. So now, 2023, same story. So...I happen to be one of those people with a linked lower colon and I need to be extra careful with my diet. Im 2005, when I went on a juice, no McDonald's, no soda diet, I went from 220# down to 180# and I felt fantastic...sciatic and other pains totally disappeared. I think I would spend more that 20 seconds on the toilet and most of the time it was a clean one shot wipe. People...watch your diet...walk and stretch at the very least.
Thanks for encouraging words to walk the very least
Thank you for your testimony. God bless you. ✝️
I started eating Spinach salad everyday. My bowel movements was amazing, the cleanse feeling every time I went to the bathroom made me feel super refreshed afterwards like I was cleansed from the inside and so much lighter too.

I agree! Walking everyday is so important! And stay away from inflammatory foods and stress etc. I was just in the hospital for back to back surgeries: a burst appendix followed by an adhesion small intestine bowl obstruction. I was doing Keto and IF before this and was in pretty good shape. The bowl obstruction, as it was explained to me was not do to constipation but a complication related to my appendix. I went out of my way to walk in the hospital and now at home i’ve built up to an hour on flat ground - I feel like I’m preaching to the choir but its so important to get your body moving and stay away from garbage processed foods and sugar / carbs.
This just happened to me today. Walking helps.
Walking is so underrated. Especially an early morning walk.

I do think Dr Berg should have health food shops, he's a big brand now, or even keto restaurants. It's a lot of work and dedication staying on a ketogenic diet, so a keto restaurant would be very convenient. I really think its something Dr Berg should consider.

Constipation has recently been confirmed as an early symptom of dementia. So many issues are linked to fast food and processed food. My mum just left us ... she was 98 with no illness, no arthritis - she lived on a restricted diet until late 1960s when the ration books finally disappeared in England then continued on a basic, bland but healthy diet out of choice. She had treats but they were occasional. She did eat lots of toast and cakes however - making up for lost time. She was still tiny in her final years but regularly suffered with constipation. It's all about the food!!!
Sorry for your loss
Sounds like an amazing life for her. You will be reunited
Lol ! 98 is age of death why should we weep
Your mother was the Queen?
My Mom's dementia started at 75. It could have started earlier but because she's always been so eccentric it was hard to notice. Her diet has always been bad. There's no value in the cracker aisle and that was her favorite place. Now I'm working to stop the progression. Keeping her away from sugar helps but with every bite, she says it needs sugar. 🥴 So glad you're Mom made it to 98. That's almost a miracle these day. 🙂
30 oz of coffee and a cigarette first thing in the morning will empty you right out. If it doesn’t your screwed. Just a joke don’t smoke!

The world needs your videos more than they need doctors
You are definitely helping me fight my cancer! Thank you for all your knowledge🙏
Locate a book"f&cancer" ..young man used keto for cancer
N drberg has had hum in his seminars as well
Hi,
Could you elaborate on what exactly is helping you ? Are you keeping the toxic 💩 in your colon on purpose for health reasons ?
I make so much ferment and haven't had a colonic in years because my diet is now better than ever. Again, thank you!
You are awesome Dr. Berg. I love how you relate to us lay people that is in a matter-of-fact format that I can understand...so much appreciate your knowledge.
Thank you Dr. Berg for the wisdom
I had an ex with 4ft of poop in his colon from constipation (showed up in an ultrasound) because he was just eating pizza and drinking soda. He always had these horrible attacks where he would double over and sweat and nearly pass out from the pain. And he was a thin good looking dude so we never even considered that he was just backed up. We just gave him some milk of magnesia and that seemed to help a lot.
Eat your greens and probiotics people.
4 ft of poop?!?! Holy smokes, that's gnarly lol are you sure you didn't mean 4 lbs??
Magnesium lubricates the lower colon.
The woke left would say he's pregnant 🤰
I hope he made it to the backyard
mocha ice coffee fast food really causes back up.........
Thank you Dr for going above and beyond your call of duty to educate us on the excretory system.
In some people constipation is entirely stress related.
Get rid of the stress, no issues whatsoever going to the washroom. If the stress source is family, maybe go for long walks.
😉😆😅😄😃🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's like saying: get rid of your spouse; children; job; in-laws; etc.
Basically IMPOSSIBLE
but good for a laugh🤣
@@ratkatbarnes5238 Or give them real nutrients rich keto foods with enough potassium… see what happens.

❤🙂 Bingo. Real food decreases huge amounts of stress problems, and also goes a long way to help with mental health issues.
But we still have to add changing our ways, in how we deal with stress and triggers. There are many selfhelp books out there....

Yes there can be a humorous side to everything, if we seek it.
A sense of humor can solve many issues and uneasy situations.
Going for a walk certainly also gives us some time to reflect and pray as we walk alone. 🌲🌲🌳🌲🏞🌄🌅🌃
Kindness, understanding and forgiveness go a long way to make peace.
But if physical abuse raises its ugly head, it is time to get urgent help. Never let things go that far.
Stress can give you diarrhea too, ever hear the saying "scared shitless"?
That poop animation is impressive! It definitely helps the learning Doc
Thank you! It is like you are a dear friend that is the worlds most incredible doctor that has easy to understand information and you are talking to me 😀
Thank you for being honest and informative.
One of the most informative videos of Dr. Berg that I've ever watched!
Thank you Dr. Berg for making it plain. Very important stuff.👍🏾❣️
Glad to help!
I was hospitalised for 2 months in Japan. And only ate what they fed me 3 times a day. I swear to go even my sweat lost its smell , as well as all the waste coming out of my body.
This is incredible yet simple explanation! Thank you
All you have to do is look at the sheer physical size of 5 to 20 lbs of anything and you'll realize just how unlikely that would be. Look at a gallon of milk at about 8 1/2 pounds per gallon, a 5 lbs bag of sugar or flour, or 10 lbs of ground beef. Imagine that much mass concentrated to such a small area of your body.
Dear Jay, the large and small intestines take up a huge amount of one’s torso. We can easily hold that much, given how long digestion takes. 48-72 hrs. + ya buddy, that steak dinner you had Friday night won’t leave you until Monday.
@@rowenamoynihan4753 I suppose the hot peppers I had, took the express lane.
Exactly. I lost 75 lbs thru proper nutrition n exercise. I compared it to a suitcase n a carry on bag! Unbelievable how much weight the human body can carry!
Have u ever done a colonoscopy? Although colonoscopy is for colon cancer check or other health issues If u ever change ur diet after this in a month u can lose 30 lbs. I totally changed my diet 2016 after colonoscopy and i list 34lbs..inluded protein shakes every morning and did 1 meal a day with lots of vege. I lost weight like crazy..pooing twice per day
@@lavjamsoflocamp Actually I have...twice. Add to that, a number of procedures that required similar preparations. The first was about a year after having lost 60 lbs. by changing my lifestyle. Any weight that I lost prior to the colonoscopy was negligible and unremarkable. There is no magic blueprint that fits everyone and what works for me may not work for you. I do like protein shakes from time to time but I don't add anything that can turn that 160 calorie drink into a 1200 calorie dessert.
I love that you address diet. There are a lot of good supplements- and they can do good- but diet is king. Thanks for sharing!
You are what all Dr. Should achieve to be like .❤
I appreciate your frank conversation here, a lot of people seem to get panicked about the idea of tons of poop being stuck.
You health tips changed my life, especially on fasting. Grateful.
I've been going through major constipation issues since January of 2020. I've been to the emergency room three times, each time told that I was constipated, that it was not an emergency, and to follow up with my primary care physician, each time the bill was $12,000 to tell me to go to my primary. I have had ten different primary care physicians in the last three years, they tell me it's hard, we just don't know, and none of them followed up on anything. I was told I had lung cancer then told I didn't have lung cancer, told I have heart disease then told I don't have heart disease, told I had chronic kidney failure then told I don't have chronic kidney failure. I saw a new gastroenterologist last month, who ordered a defecography MRI, which I've had to wait a month and a half for the appointment. My bowels barely work at all now, I simply can't go no matter if I take laxatives, change my diet, or hydrate more. I feel so bloated I can barely breathe. Each day I get sicker and sicker and these doctors do nothing at all to help me. I'm so afraid that I have colon cancer. I feel like I'm going to die, and nobody is listening to me. Thank you for your informative videos.
Go get a different opinion and go to a gastrointestinal doctor asap.
@ Robbie Arlene Easley try eating more of papaya(pawpaw) or ripe seeds of neem plant 7 to 10 seeds in the morning. Hope this will relieve you.
@@josephinechizoba1986 thank you for your advice!
go get a colonic
Dont give up as hard as it is pray God will show you the correct person to go too🙏
It is very educated and makes sense to control our diet.
Thank you so so much.
Great introduction to micro biology. Most people should be educated on this stuff but we can only blame ourselves for not asking questions and seeking out the knowledge. Truth deserves a subscription!
They need to teach this at school.
@@amberturdcoloringbook1733 Agreed. Its not even required at the college level at my school for a degree in Biology.
Well the fact Americans only teach lgbtqrs and CRT🐇 we are left educating ourselves which very few in society can do.
This was a controlled planned collapse. 🤯
