I have had all the tests and they always come back normal and it is just IBS-C. I suffered to the extreme. Then 3 yrs ago i thought to myself that if you are impacted the doc will remove it manually. Ppl have anal sex. So i tried to dig it out with a glove on and it worked really well and have been doing it ever since. Seems all it is was it just wouldn't come out so all that was needed was to get a little out and the rest would follow. It has been Heaven sent. I call it THE CURE. I am a 76 yr old female.

@@linnellbrooks5711 Someone else in the comments recommended getting a high colonic. He said he gets one every couple of years or so and it cleans you out completely. You might want to get one right away! 🙏
I have had chronic constipation my whole life, which had gotten worse with other health issues over the last year. The following is the regimen that I have developed with God's help:
      1. Upon awakening, I take 2 Metamucil capsules, 2 magnesium citrate capsules, and one ox bile capsule with a glass of very warm water. Most mornings this will cause a gentle, quick bowel movement within the next 15-30 minutes with no straining.
      2. After getting dressed, I go into the kitchen and eat six prunes with a glass of very warm water, and some lightly salted nuts. This will usually cause me to have a second bowel movement either right away or after breakfast, with no straining.
      3. I then have oatmeal for breakfast with peanut butter, diced apple, and blueberries. This will many times cause another bowel movement.
      4. I used to strain, which makes things much worse and can cause other problems. Don't strain. If you only have a partial bowel movement, don't worry about it. Just follow the steps and you will complete it later.
      4. I drink six glasses of water and two glasses of soy milk daily. Try to get eight glasses of fluid per day. It will really help with constipation.
      5. Elevate your feet with a step stool when you go, or elevate your knees higher than your hips by going up on your tip toes. Keep your back straight, and relax. Do some deep breathing. Think about things that make you laugh, or things that you are looking forward to and excite you. Laughter and excitement stimulate your vagus nerve, which helps with peristalsis.
      6. Get your veggies too. Also a good quality cold pressed oil like olive oil is helpful. Beans are really good too. They have a lot of soluble fiber. I make a bean and brown rice wrap for lunch that tastes great and helps keep me regular.
      7. Stay active and enjoy your life! God loves you and wants you to be happy and healthy! God bless you! ❤

Warm prune juice is the answer. When I was backed up in Germany once I couldn't find prune juice in the supermarkets. But in the UK it is widely available. Pour a glass of prune juice and put it in the microwave for 20 seconds. Test the temperature with your finger. If necessary, put the glass back in for 10 seconds. Note that the juice should not be hot, and just lukewarm won't work either. Once you think you've hit the right temperature, drink it down in one go. This has an absolutely disgusting taste, but about an hour later you will start to feel like you're ready for the toilet. The effect of just one glass of prune juice can last for several hours, so be prepared to visit the toilet more than once. Especially useful to remember if you decide to go shopping.

    3. No chips of any kind (popcorn once in a while).
    4. A glass of pop once per week (usually on Saturday snack night).
    5. 32 oz of water daily, 4 oz of prune juice daily

My Mom had a 100% cure for constipation she got from her Mom who got it from her Mom. Every year during plum season she would buy a large amount of purple plums, just the regular kind you get everywhere, wash thoroughly, remove the pit and fill a large pot to about 3/4 full. Add water to cover the plums plus a bit. Then she let it simmer for a few hours until it became thick like a paste. Never let it boil, just simmer. Then it went into jars and when cool into the fridge. This would last us until the next year for a family of five. At the first sign of constipation, we were given 1 spoonful and within an hour, we were going, without cramps or pain.

@@traceykoontz2868 Please, anyone you know who has to get a caretaker...BE very careful.. Do check often, if someone is hired that you don't know. This monster was recommended by a worker at a nursing home. This monster had a very kind, and fake baby talk like line of crap. She alienated my friend's neighbors, and took over. My friend had just lost the last two family members, her grandson, and second daughter. When my friend entered the hospital for a few weeks, the nurse told her POA that the monster came in at nine p.m., to relieve the day care lady. The Monster stayed about one half hour, left, and put her hours in as all night. The nurse said that this happens often, and if the POA, who was an in-law, chose, they would support him in filing charges. I was ready to help witness, but the in- law, was involved with an out of town girlfriend, and didn't want to peruse it, so, I was ON guard . Eventually, the monster told me that my friend didn't want me there. She knew I had her number. It was weeks before I got a call from my friend's late daughter's friend. The daughter, was my best friend for many years. The woman told me that she had spoken to my friend, as the monster allowed her to take calls. She said, "Hurry, and call her, And, she wants to hear from you." I called immediately, and my friend was So glad to hear from me. I asked her if I had done anything to upset her because the monster told me to stay away. My friend said, "Those were not my words." And she elaborated by telling me that she was in a bad spot. I promised her, that if she was afraid, I would talk to her POA, and we could get her into the nursing home, where she would be safe. The neighbor arrived a few days later to see my friend before she left for the nursing home, but monster wouldn't let him say goodbye. This monster was alienating her from everyone, and, instead of using an ambulance to take her to the nursing home, the monster's husband or boyfriend, came over, and he lifted my friend, putting his arms under her armpits, from behind, and lowering her down the three wobbly back steps, and into the car, in the garage. I never figured out why. My friend had a bad shoulder injury, and that had to hurt. I was LIVID, but my friend only told me that AFTER we got her into the nursing home physically. For weeks, I went every day to make sure monster didn't show up, because my friend so was SO afraid! Eventually, we got her calm enough to be reassured monster was not coming back POA called her to relieve har of her duties. There was much more, but getting sore fingers. My friend died at just before her 100th birthday. She slipped in the bathroom, and broke a hip. I was at the hospital for threevdays, when they kept puttingbsurgery off due to irregular heart activity. She died an the third day Due tempos, being out of town, I had to pick output funeral clothes, etc. I FOUND a beautiful black shift with a silky blouse top. It was a gorgeous red rose with green leaves, and specks of gold here and that. The funeral home did a great job on her hair, which I asked the nursing home staff to reverse condition her hair, as It was so dry and frizzy. POA ordered a blanket of deep red carnations for the casket, and my friend looked BEAUTIFUL. I thought, wait until Ralph sees her! He was a wonderful husband and father, and I was sure that he wasn't watching over her, or I wouldn't have been able to get her away. When you have to deal with someone evil, you have to worry about them harming someone as revenge. I talked to a doctor about this, and he said, it is a shame, and it happens more and more, because there are so many elderly, and not as many caregivers. I am keeping strong, lifting weights, and eating healthy, just in case!

I’ve been dealing with constipation for years. It’s to the point where I have a lower abdominal protrusion. I went to er and had an X-ray about a year ago and the doc said there was “a very large amount of stool” told me to try otc laxatives. (🙄) I said I’ve tried every otc laxative available with minimal relief. I have also tried colonoscopy preps like sutab and it helped a bit but not much more than Miralax did. They didn’t offer any other options. Just discharged me. 😡 after that I decided to go another route and try a colonic. I started getting colonics about 2 months ago. Typically I go for a colonic weekly and I lose anywhere between 5-15 lbs per time. I still have a protrusion but it’s definitely getting better. I always feel so much better after each colonic. I definitely recommend trying them if you haven’t.

I've also used salt as a laxative. You have to eat a LOT, like a couple of teaspoons at once dissolved in plenty of water. And then wait like 30 minutes or so. It basically gives you diarrhea which moistens/lubricates the stuck poop. Use at your own risk if you have high blood pressure or other conditions that would make it dangerous to eat so much salt. I have the opposite problem (my blood sodium tends to run too low, and my body gets rid of sodium MUCH too fast), so I have to eat a lot of salt to avoid cramps, which is how I inadvertently discovered this trick. Might be a lifesaver since pretty much everyone has salt at home but you might not have another type of laxative on hand, or you might have already run through the ones you do have.

There are health practitioners that do a procedure called high colonic. It is an effective enema, cleaning out the entire colon. It is done with tubing and tanks so that there is no odor, and they cover you for privacy. A gentle abdominal massage is done , which helps move things along. I get one done every few years, and feel really great afterwards. I always wondered why they didn’t do them in hospitals when patients have constipation post surgery.

If you're from SE Asia like me with some lactose intolerance then cold milk works. Anal douche is very effective for me but I've only needed to use it several times. You can buy an attachment to screw onto the shower hose, be careful not to turn on the water too strongly and test the temperature first. Do not let too much water in each time and it works after a few seconds. Have a bowl ready to avoid messing up the shower floor. As for medication lactulose works gently as stool softener. Some people with chronic constipation have lost the contractility of the bowel muscles so senna might not be so effective.😮

Still, I developed a severe fecal impaction, it made me very sick- fever, nausea, horribly distended belly( like a 6 month pregnancy!) and triggered a UTI because of the pressure on my bladder. In the ER, even after an enema and suppository, there were no results- I was then given Lactolose and it caused horrible, foul, diarrhea! I am glad that this doctor is so straightforward and explains things clearly... Friends and family who have never experienced this joke about it and don't understand... Yes, this condition is embarrassing - but it is serious and one must educate themselves. I have heard about the finger dislodging method, and it makes sense, but I just can't being myself to do it! I am on day 5 of this entire episode and still feel miserable, and my primary care doctor isn't responding - I may have to go back to the ER. Back in the 1980’s several people in my church tried what might be called “the orange flush”. Might be another name for it. What it was is that you bought a lot of the best oranges you can find, and on a day you are staying home you eat one orange after another until you have an eventful bowel movement. One older gentleman in church who had a large belly tried it and lost over 20 pounds. I’m a slender man. I was the last person in my family to try it and yes sitting on the toilet I reached a point of very strong abdominal pain then it all passed, and made enough noise that everyone in the house could hear it. The odd thing is that just before it all passed it felt inside me in my left lower abdomen that something was peeling off that had been there a long time and it had been very well attached to my large intestine. I’m 57 now and I’ve stayed basically slender most of my life besides a spare tire years ago.

I’m in my late 50’s and I have had to change my diet because of Lyme disease, hypoglycemia and food intolerances. The main thing is eliminating dairy, much much less beef, almost no chocolate and now I’m spending much less time on the toilet and taking a 💩 is much easier. No more slowly pushing agonizing hard lumpy 💩 to deal with.

I had the issue where I hadn't pooped in like 4 or 5 days and really felt bad. The next morning I woke up very sick and to to vomit and it looked like stool. I went to ER. The did a scan and said I completely full up. I said what do we do. They said go take laxative, stool softer and get some enema's. I said I've been doing the for 4 days. The keep doing that and sent me on my way. So 3 GI docs later and none of them ever want to deal with my constipation. So I appreciate your desire to help with this. In one respect your happy when you body says time to poop, but also so fearful because of the pain your going to be in for the next 30 to 40 mins trying to pass what doesn't want to come out. I've also done colon-hydrotherapy.Thanks for all your help!!!

Have you tried a squatty potty? And using a gloved finger? That's less painful because pieces of the stool can be broken off, instead of trying to pass a huge, hard one. Just putting a finger in the rectum and moving it around stimulates the bowels to move things downward.
I hope the colon hydrotherapist had suggestions for you. Vomiting stool is serious.

I extremely rarely get constipated. I experienced an episode of it earlier this year. It was like my whole insides had turned to thick clay. Horrible. No idea why that happened, I normally eat a diet quite rich in vegetables & fruit & drink two litres of water each day, more in hot weather. I saw a video & the woman recommended eating a diet of cucumber, celery & melon till the difficulty resolved itself. It did work. Took a few days but felt very gentle, healthy & hydrating.

Wow. I have literally tried everything except the finger. All the OTC meds. Warm prune juice. Smooth move tea. Prunes. 35 grams of fiber a day. It's definitely emotional because it started when I was diagnosed with cancer. My yoga teacher told me I am in constant "fight or flight." And the treatment meds made it sooooo much worse. I now take laculose daily - try to adjust the dosage so I'm not taking the max daily but sometimes it is needed. Pooping in a warm bath is an idea except for cleaning the tub.... good luck to anyone else in my situation.

I was eating these earlier this year somewhat regularly, while trying to lose weight, and they exacerbated my constipation problem (along with not drinking enough water, which I have now rectified). The one I was eating has 18 grams of *insoluble* fiber. Whenever I eat one of those high-fiber tortillas, it always triggers an episode of couple of days later when I can barely make it to the bathroom in time.
The next time I eat something for which I would use a tortilla, I'm going to use a regular tortilla and half of a high-fiber low-carb one to see how it goes.

My colon twisted and they removed 12 inches and in still healing…limited mobility and tenderness at the incision the same incision 27 years ago with my youngest a c-section.
