Virgin America really fascinated me and especially with their safety video! Every here and there I always enjoy how much I remembered them well and always wish they were still around as we certainly lost a really great airline!

I think Virgin has the best safety video than any other airline in the world because they make it upbeat, interesting, and dancy instead of boring.
Flew Virgin America exclusively for a couple years back from 2013-2015. They were my favorite. Still haven't found something that I like better sadly.
I love planes with mood lighting. American delta and United dont have alot of planes with mood lighting. But I have been on a 737 with Boeing sky interior. And I loved it. The better thing was the flight was at night so the blue lighting filled the cabin.

Great video, as always. I love Alaska Airlines, but I'm with you, I hope they don't change Virgin's style. BTW, I started flight school in 2001, and I just finished paying off my student loans. That FO will be paying those off for years, unfortunately. You have to love what you do to want to pay that kind of money. :P Keep up the great videos.

last time I flew a decade ago was on Virgin America and I flew coach and I tell you what it still felt like first class service
I really enjoyed Virgin America. Flew them several times. Too bad they were taken over and ruined by Alaska Airlines. I liked their quirky ads and their employees. As I have often said, anything that is good, will one day be ruined. lol...It's only a matter of time.

I've only gone through LAX post-terminal swap. No wonder why T3 is so bad and crammed with Delta, it used to be Virgin America with their A320 family! Can't wait for those renovations to finish.

I have never flown Virgin American but I totally want to in the near future. I read a few books about Richard Branson and his friends thought he was crazy for starting Virgin Airlines. I have a copy of them in digital if you would like a copy. I have 2 or 3 of this books. All really good! I learned a lot from him and it was inspirational.

I love your trip reports but I have to say something about VX. I worked for them for six years (2009-2015) which is a large portion of their existence considering they've only been around for ten years this August. They are a great airline for their passengers and have a wonderful product but these days they are horrible for their employees. In the beginning things were great. Everyone was happy. We were enjoying reinventing the wheel in the airline industry. But as we grew we had very little infrastructure and things got messy very quickly. There were a lot of dirty politics going on as I moved up the ladder I discovered that more and more. Then I got very sick physically and had to take FMLA but I worked at a large station and was a supervisor. The station manager couldn't have one of their supervisors taking FMLA so every time I came back the other supervisors were watching me and waiting for me to break any little rule. This went on for months I had to go back out on FMLA for more tests. When I returned I was told to meet the station manager and I was fired that day the reason was because I had health issues. That is totally illegal. Most of my best friends work there they were all told not to speak to me on their own time off work as if this were the CIA or something really weird stuff was going on. More work groups were unionizing and after I left a lot of employees quit because they hated the station manager and only trusted me. I went to American Airlines and so far three have followed. Even Branson was disappointed in what happened to Virgin America. It started out great but in the end it was corrupt and has Frank Lorenzo style management practices.
Woah.... this really left me thinking. Sadly, all great companies and countries have their dark side. What you just told me really surprised me. Firing you for being sick is against your rights, you should seat up a lawsuit.
iTripReport Thanks for your sympathies. I am in litigation with them and have been for quite a while. I wasn't the only one that they screwed over. Another friend of mine was fired and they wouldn't even give him a reason he had been there since before the airline launch. I still respect the Virgin Brand and Sir Richard Branson. As I said before he only owns 30% stake in VX and leases the branding rights to the airline. He has become disappointed of what's become of the company. I also wouldn't be the first, second, third, fourth, or probably 20th to sue in a wrongful termination. All of their frontline workgroups are becoming unionized or already are like the F/A's (already), Pilots (already), Mechanics (attempting to), and GST's (attempting to). Lastly the merger will go down exactly like TWA & AA because Don Carty (CEO at the time of the TWA buyout) is the Chairman of the Board of Directors at VX and VX's CEO is an ex Carty era director at AA and loves AA more than VX. He flies them more often than VX. If VX doesn't operate independently which I doubt it will for long. The majority of VX employees will be let go because AS flies everywhere that VX does (except LGA) and they're buying VX not merging. They'll keep the hubs in LAX and SFO. They'll close DAL because AA's codeshare agreement is way too lucrative and offers so much connecting traffic for The AS flights into the DFW area. They'll dump the routes that VX flies from Dallas to DCA and probably LGA. I could see LGA getting moved to DFW since that's the VX only city AS doesn't fly to. I see DFW having nonstop service to SEA, PDX, SFO, LAX, LGA for AS. AS will also sell the A320's to another airline like AA sold the PW powered ex-TWA 757's to DL and the 717's to FL. AS wants to keep their proudly all Boeing certification. The only thing you'll see left are the routes from LAX & SFO that they don't operate already.

Hopefully at least one of my upcoming legs will upsell to F so i can give it a try. I have a bunch of transcon flying coming up on VX. I've flown AS F many times and sad no comp upgrades on VX. I'm going to miss getting upgraded on every flight :( Oh well back to coach for me.
If you do upgrade to first class, it is well worth it! Very comfortable seats and amazing service

Thanks for this review. I am considering taking this flight in January, but I've never flown Virgin before. That lounge is a little sad looking. Small, crowded, and there's not even any good free food. I'd almost rather sit out in the main terminal where it's at least more roomy.

Alaska will be keeping the virgin product alive however there may be very little changes but you can still fly virgin America

They do have TVs, they are just stowed under the armrest, and can be brought out once past 10,000 feet

Although Virgin is the only US airline to offer meals on domestic flights, Air Canada is also offering meals on continental flights.

Thanks! Think about it, at the time of the flight, that was the only daily virgin America flight into MCO, and with that terminal only being used by southwest, it feels weird.

It’s not your fault. If you have trouble with the language, there’s no shame in autocorrect. It was made for the problems the English language has, not people. Unless you’ve been born into it, English is stupidly hard to get. Our former Vice President (Dan Quayle famously told a kid in a spelling bee that potato was spelled POTATOE and he hasn’t outlived the joke) couldn’t get it as proof of the needless complexities. Just type it into a word page or any text message, then copy and paste the results. Great work though. 👍
