Just a quick tip for anybody filming with their iPhone. If you want to do the transition where you cover the lens with your hand in one shot and then open the lens with your hand in the next shot, remember that the iPhone will automatically cut out any footage of the beginning of a video if it’s black, so you have to film for a couple seconds then cover the lens up and then uncover it and start your video.
I really hope so and I hope my OnePlus 8T+ 5g is enough to get me in the game. I think I am just going to order the Movo phone kit and maybe the Vxr-10 Pro but I'm not 100% sure yet.
Quick tip for iPhone users, i use the Mavis camera app to film, it allows for many different settings on your iPhone such as changing the FR to 24fps, which is a game changer in my opinion. It allows me to have a relatively clear and HD video without using a camera!
Love this - perfect timing for me. Thank you! Listening from my iPhone speakers the iPhone mic sounded just as good as the Rode, however, if I had headphones or AirPods on I would presume I could tell more of a difference....but again...not a big difference when just listening from my phone’s speakers. IMO.
Love these options. I'm one day going to make a video based on how you can totally vlog on the go and how it would turn out. Love this. As someone who also really want to help new RUclipsrs post content. I can say this will truly help others!
Love your content and I especially love how you all fine the best tech for us. From High end to low end and everything in between. Thank you for being awesome.
Thank you much for the information. I wish I had saw your video before buying my selfie stick. Mine is from Amazon and will work fine but I believe the cheapest choice in your vid will be perfect for me specifically because of how the stick holds the phone in place. Mine, you have to pry apart the clamps and they squeeze the phone in place which is very sturdy but I like the ease of the screw down way. Thanks again for your vid.
Hey this was a great video! We use an Android for our videos, but this was pretty enlightening. We have 2 of those $20 selfie sticks and they are very versatile! Can keep it short for talking to the audience, but also extend the stick and set on a chair when we do videos in restaurants. For sound we have a separate audio recorder and it all goes into the editing suite afterwards.
So I’m watching all your videos and I’m loving it. What would be the ideal kit you can create for us to just buy? Lens, lights, microphone & etc since their are so many options. Traveling, vlogging, editorials & etc
Quick thoughts: Filmic Pro is a game changer. Get it. Switchpod is a beast, and worth looking into. And finally. Gimbles are your friend. No matter what, if you've got a smartphone, you've got what it takes to make great content.
Thanks Omar! I am a newbie. I watched this video twice. I like the #2 set and going to place an order. Love most Think Media’s video contents. Please keep up. 🙏
I pretty much use a mixture of all those. I’ve got the rode videomicro + ulanzi light + ulanzi phone mount + a tripod. I also use the Moment wide angle + VND filter.
Great vid :) Dumb question from aspiring vlogger: Do you always use your phones rear cam? I find the front so much easier, because you can see yourself and operate your phone, With the rear I have no idea of the angle. I'm doing more of a stationary setup.
My channel is mostly filmed outdoors and I've recently got the rode video micro and it does make a big difference with wind. I still get weird looks though 😁
One thing that people don’t realize is your smartphone is capable of shooting some really amazing footage. Don’t use the excuse that you don’t have a professional camera or microphone. Your iPhone + an external mic is plenty for a channel! If you say otherwise, you’re just making excuses! 🤷🏻♂️
What about a wireless mic for the iPhone that clips to your shirt if you're shooting an instructional video, for example a workout video in a noisy gym? Recommendations?
I say convenient is the main key. It’s getting heavy and cumbersome if you added anything else. I’m just plugging in a lav mic with 20ft cable is crazy already.
Thanks a lot Omar... I currently record on my iPhone 7,though the microphone is kinda cool, but now I know the right iPhone to use and make my channel more professional.
Thank you so much for the vid, it was extremely helpful! I'm not a content creator, I just want to vlog/record my dance class as a record of my progression. I appreciate all the comments below as well! the $20 or $40 option will work best for me!
I am commenting about halfway through the video but if you are going to be doing a talking head video mostly the Rode mic is definitely worth it's definitely I can tell a big difference!
Hi. Thanks for all your videos. They are super helpful! Can you possibly do a video or recommend a vlogging setup with an iPhone where I can attach both a portable light and the Niceyrig mirror with a tripod and a shoe mount for both the light and mirror with a wireless microphone and an affordable wide lens? Also, instead of a portable light, replace with a standing ring light for stationary videos with the same setup. Thanks in advance!
I have a tip for the shogun mic for people who don’t use a handheld… turn the setup upside down so the shotguns at the bottom. U will see why it’s called a shotgun. If u have some sort of grip it is pretty nice
A bit of a difference with the no mic set up vs the mic set up. ( would say the mic set up has a bit more crisp sound/ would also have more wind canceling)!!
The extending option is not the only one of that class. The Huawei selfie stick is practically sold out, but my local store had a generic one that was practically the same thing. I haven't tested the remote yet, but will probably aork just fine.
I like the cheapest version! Thanks for making this video. I have that mic set up minus the light and only used it a few times. Screen didn’t really work as well as i wanted it to in blocking wind noise.
I have the Ulanzi kit (bought separately). I added a Bluetooth remote shutter release but a replaceable battery one. I've found that rechargeable ones lose their ability to recharge over a short time! Soundwise, your iphone11 sounds better than my iPhone 12pm! So I've added a wired $20 PurplePanda lav which is great (& even better than a wireless Fulaim X5 costing $129) even though I hate wires!!!
Thank you! This channel has helped me so much- I don’t have a proper camera yet but want to start interviewing with either my iPhone or gopro. You have so many options/ideas here
Watched and used your link to buy the 40 inch one with the remote. $18 is a good deal and I get it in two days. Can’t wait to try it. I just need to get a light that attaches.
