I am using iPhone 13, but the front camera. I would love to start using the back one, but it's hard to shoot without seeing yourself. Any advice, Omar?
I have to say this. I love the way you present your material. You don’t act all hyped up. You are very matter of fact. You don’t talk too slow or too fast and all your instructions are easy to follow. This was a great video. Thanks for all your great content!
Your contents are very helpful. I’m a blind RUclipsr that lost his sight last three years to an armed robbery attack. Your advice I’ve been very helpful. Your videos are really helping me in my channel
I clicked on all the links and came up with this: Mic - $131.88 Lightning extender - $15.50 Lens - $270.00 Vlogging kit - $39.95 Seflie Mirror - $25.58 Total Cost (if you already have the phone) $482.91 as of 8-6-22 Awesome setup guys! Thank you for doing this video! The content filmed with this setup looks really good!
Thats insane prices.. I would just get a budget action cam, more compact & practical w great stability. The lens, mic and even the phone is just too expensive.. Never understood ppl using expensive iphone, it cost more than many Sony/Canon cam. Simply ridiculous..
I haven't watched the full video yet, but i want to thank you for filming this video WITH the very equipment you're talking about. I've watched so many of these videos where the people talk about the set up and how great it is, but do it while using a high quality DSLR.
A tip for anyone considering getting the screen mirror… If you have an Apple Watch, you can connect your phone to your Apple Watch and it will broadcast what your phone camera is showing. It’s more compact and convenient. Happy shooting! :)
It’s always so tempting to want to drop huge amounts of money on a “real” camera rig but this. This changes things 😂 it has that people aesthetic and feel while not draining your bank. I think we can all appreciate that. Great content! Thank you!
jesus Christ I wouldn't have dreamt of starting my youtube journey without you guys. Thanks Think. Omar. Sean. Heather. And all the other lovely people there!
This video came right on time! I’ve switched from my heavy 80d to my iPhone 13 pro max for vlogging and wanted an option to see the screen while using the back camera. Thank you!!
Thanks for sharing this, Omar! A few years ago, I was using a Canon 7D to shoot 1080p, and edited with iMovie and Premiere Pro. Now, you and Nolan have inspired me to use my iPhone (SE 2nd gen) and Lumafusion. I do everything on my phone, which, at first, did show me down a little. I’ve been able to pan and zoom in post -thanks to 4k. Thank you so much!
I’m in a bit of a creator depression from both of my channels and this information is so valuable. I definitely want to expand my career as I do enjoy creating content. But quality over quantity I understand. I subbed! Looking forward to learning more! Thanks for what you’re doing!!❤
This is great!! I’ve been an advocate for using your smartphone camera throughout the pandemic, particularly at the start when we were all isolated, for individuals from companies who aren’t self-confessed tech nerd video types like us, because they already know how to use them. The big drawback was always having to use the front facing camera for them to see me directing them or software bridges to turn their smartphone into a virtual camera. Plus the added challenge of plugging in mics to the port for better audio meant they were essentially then deaf too! I tried all sorts of fudged, DIY set ups, also using mirrors to try and help with eye line into the camera but most proved just too challenging for the average user! THIS however, surely must be the most practical and easy to use set up there is! Thank you! (Audio sounds AMAZING BTW!)
Wow! I love that mirror ❣️. One thing I love about vlogging with a smartphone is that it doesn't ring a bell. A smartphone video rig and a boya by-mm1 or m1 is also good and cheaper in my opinion.
I have such a shopping addiction and I love everything camera related so this excites me because I really don’t need to buy a new camera. I just wanted something lighter than my canon rebel eos t7 to carry around when I’m traveling through the city. The city being NYC, I just moved here… so it’s really no shock that I want to capture ever moment. Thanks for this awesome video. I’m so excited to start my vlogging process
Phone cameras are sick … i got myself an iphone se 2 because it does 4k camera and im so happy i did .. i dont carry my camera around all the time and its amazing to just take out an record maybe some broll or if i catch something intresting … amazing time to be alive … amazing video as always Think 🔥💯
Thanks for such a great video! I have a question for you. What resolution are you using to recording your videos? I do have an iPhone 13 pro max and want to have the same quality as you have on yours. Your videos are helping me to create my own content. Thanks.
Nice! Recording with your smartphone really is the way to go when starting. Definitely the easiest way to go. There are channels out there that just use their smartphones to create videos and they have some great content!
My best investment for my channel was a powerful video editing software. Everyone has a smartphone these days so we have to access to a great camera and microphone wherever we go... But the video editor is what brings everything together and provides you the tools to create something truly wonderful. I use Final Cut Pro X but there are a bunch of editors on both your computer (or smartphone) that are affordable and offer great value for money! 👌🏻

Thanks for the advice! I watched so of you reviews on actual cameras, but I think this would be a better option than investing in an actual camera imo..
I was thinking between this or Sony zv e10 and at first all the stuff he has on phone looks amazing and great but then when I come to think about it it might just be better to have a camera. To always setup your phone with the rig everytime I feel like it just addds extra time and more stuff to carry around and the thing is it’s like when you’re recording off your personal phone it’s like you got to put your phone on dnd to not mess up your video so it stops. I appreciate the content though I do think about getting a second phone to just do it that way and never have to take it off as much and using as solely a business/video set up but maybe it’s just time to get into the camera realm. The only thing I get nervous about is that with getting a camera is buying so many attachments for it like lens and tripods too. But at least I’ll I can just have it for what it’s purpose is for and then I can use my phone for certain scenarios where I maybe don’t have my camera on me
I’m hearing it more often then the year before, that “the best camera to use is the one that you have with you” and we will always have our smart phone on us therefore making it the best camera!
I think it is well worth it to get a camera. With a camera, you can change out SD cards for unlimited memory and swap out batteries for unlimited battery life as well. I am filming with an i-phone 6s in 2022!!! It has great image quality. However, when storage fills up, the phone stops recording without warning causing me to have to start over. Also, you have to set your phone to charge and wait for it to finish before you can finish a video. Its ok if you don't have anything else to use, but I wouldn't spend money on a phone specifically for recording videos for these reasons.
Very well presented. Very useful tips. Thanks for also including android. The audio is awesome (that is one of the issues I am fighting with right now)
Great video. Really appreciate the information. Wondering when you are vlogging with an iphone as your camera are you using a teleprompter, or did you memorize your script (you mentioned on a different video that you did prep and have notes). If you do use a teleprompter can you share what you use?
Excellent setup. I feel like the moment lens put it over the top a little bit considering the price but overall the is the best use of the iPhone for flogging I’ve come across.
I just bought all of this equipment based on this video so thank you very much. Question, how do you have the settings on the Shure microphone app because it sounds great in this video? Thanks!
Hi Think Media! Hope you’ll see this comment. I’m just a beginner in vlogging and I got one question: is it better to vlog with a gimbal or just like a hand stick like yours? Cause first one is more fragile but it has stabilisation and the other is more sturdy. Thank you in advance!
A gimbal may just add a level of complexity that could paralyze you from filming. I would start with just a stick and once you find a flow add a gimbal when/if necessary
What do you recommend for filming in golf? iPhone? Other cameras? Budget is under 1000$ and am a beginner really with cameras. Would want something relatively simple to setup before shots
I definitely recommend beginning to make videos with your iPhone, as it's a camera that you already have and will be used to. It has the capability to make slo-mo videos, which could make some impressive shots of a golf swing. For editing, I like the free app called InShot; it has all of the editing features you'd ever need
Great video, love all these accessories. Would you recommend vlogging with a iPhone 14 pro max over using an Sony ZV-1? This all new and I want to make it simple and possible. Thanks for your help!
Wow man!!! Perfect video. I want to increase my golf vlogging and you really spoke to me on this one. Wish you showed some ball hitting footage to see how it looks and sounds!
Welcome to Shanghai, China 😜This setup is really good for girls we don't want to carry lots of these or those spare parts- it's sooooo heavy for females! Besides, we're not geek guys, color grade, special effects these kinds of things which make us more difficult to create videos. I think I might recommend a cheap microphone that goes with lighting!
I made my own mirror hack using a magic arm. Then realized I preferred using the front camera on my Note9 as it softly filters out facial features vs the harder images coming from the rear camera.
Omar, your know how videos are awesome and truly informative and I’ve learned quite a few things specially with this one to start using my phone as a camera as at the moment it is way out of my budget. Thank you for sharing al this content, you guys are awesome!!! 👍👍
Hi, Very good video. clear audio, good video, good content, and most importantly, plain simple information. My question is, can I use the mic you suggested in this video for my home setup as well if I'm using my iPhone?
I thoroughly enjoy these type of videos when you make them. I learn so much and I always end up buying some add ons. I have a quick question: I purchased the selfie mirror and I have the Manfrotto Tripod from a previous video. How or should I ask what do I need to get to connect my mirror to this particular tripod? Thank you in advance.
I just came across this video at about 3 months old now, but wanted to leave a comment about the mic suggestion. If we are talking "basic" or low cost setups, I would not, nor could not suggest the $150 Shure microphone, when you can get a Rode Mic for half the price at $80 or the Palovue mic at $40, with just as good of sound quality. As an audio/video person I like Shure and Rode equally, but sometimes price is a factor for many people.

I use my front facing camera so I think I’m definitely going to invest in that mirror monitor so that I can start using my back camera. Thank you
Hey Omar! Glad to see you’re doing well, haven’t seen you since high school! I’m starting to Vlog Dj Gigs and am glad I ran Into your video. I’m definitely going to purchase this rig since I’m too busy to learn the ins and outs of a DSLR camera and can definitely just pull out my phone and start recording footage for my Vlogs. Awesome video!
Bro! How are you fam?!
@@ThinkMediaTV I’m doing well, thank you. I’m in the Dj wedding industry and am starting to Vlog my gigs. I’m glad you guys out this video out so I can use this rig and glad I was able to reconnect with you.
I love this guy but preaching how good a lens is while being covered in glare and red So it's probably wasn't the best time to describe how amazing it is
Great video! I just bought the Sure mic and stand setup! Thank you for breaking this down and offering actual quality recommendations! What do you do for lighting? Do you find that the LED attachments suffice?
