They should sell a kit with both mic colors. That way people can choose light or dark, depending on what they’re wearing. I would have liked to have seen compatibility with the hot shoe adapter. Good review. If it had those 2 things, it would have been a instant order for me.
You don't need a comparison, that one is way better and smaller. With that one you have two receivers, one with USB C and one with Lightning. Oh, it's also cheaper with Black Friday offers for $111
@@asalimi It isn't way better. It is a great deal but doesn't have the mono back up track, the 5 volume settings (just 3 with the camera receiver), or the headphone monitor feature. I love it, but it isn't perfect or the exact same.
Great review, really like the test you made with it. At min 11:38 on the Audio Quality test I can hear a bad sound in the background. (sound interference maybe) I am the only one hearing that?
Not having built in lav input or onboard recording definitely not a deal breaker since the mic 2 exists for that purpose. Pretty sure they designed this mini to be it's own unique product for specific purposes. Thanks for the review!

Great Review! Thanks for the info. I was looking a video like this
Can one connect to the iphone with a 3.5mm male to USBc male cable? The 90-degree connection through a relatively fragile friction-fit adapter is is an invitation for damage. Drop the phone, twist it the wrong way, apply pressure the wrong way and it';s all over for the connection.
UPDATE: This totally works. Like a charm... the only thing you lose is the ability for a cam op or producer to hear the audio via the 3.5mm jack that has been co-opted for the work-around. My next experiment is a splitter...
I bought one. I have the mini, the hollyland, the Neewer, the comica....yes, I know. I'm a mic geek. I love these little mics and here's the real lowdown: they ALL sound and work great so buy the CHEAPEST ONE that meets your needs. You won't be disappointed.
Awesome in depth video! ❤ less not forget the price! I paid a lot for the DJI 2 and I rarely use them bcuz they seem to never connect to my devices! A total waste of money! Glad they made these, I wish they made them in white in the same case. That stop and start recorder is a game changer!
Bro i am so happy i waited to buy a mic cuz this for the price it’s absolutely mental !!!!!!!!!😮😮😮😮 Dammnnn DJI coming in clutch with an affordable Mic system! Damnnn guess i can finally get me one of those 🤓🥹
I really like the DJI Osmo 3 & Action 5 features that link the equipment to a phone number, just in case some authorities would like to locate a content creator. If the phone is linked to the camera on a regular basis there is also the possibility of metadata being sent to the mothership, so authorities will be able to access more detailed info about all the content being videoed. All great features.
If you connect this mic with Osmo pocket/Action, is it also a bluetooth connection between them and bad quality like it is when you connect one mic with the phone by bluetooth?
Thanks for the review! Can i ask let's say i mount the receiver on my camera via jack. And i record two people talking.. How can i adjust the volume differently on each mic? Thank you!
I prefer the mic2. The esthetics and build quality is superb in my eyes. I dont mind it being a little bigger. But i do like the price point of the mini 😂
5:27 This is not mentioned in any other review video, and is tested nowhere, I would like to know more about this feature 😊 Edit: The user manuel only says "for audio output to a camera". Have you tested it?
Great video. Just a question, to use with the Action 4, which one do you recommend between the mic 2 only transmitter and the mic mini receiver + transmitter? They are almost the same price. I would use mostly for some ambient sound for the video tour we do on our channel. Thanks 😊
So I'm pretty sure the lighting adapter doesn't come with the $169 package, it didn't come in mine. Also I am going to keep my Hollyland bc the transmitter is light and when I have my phone on the DJI Osmo Mobile, the adapter can be added easily. I mainly wanted the DJI mic mini bc of the noise reduction to use out on the street but I haven't messed around with the noise cancellation thing so we'll see if it's worth keeping.
Does it record directly to the video in an iPhone? Just like those cheap $20 ones on Amazon? I did 3 interviews in person with those cheap ones in somewhat noisy spaces, and I had to EQ out at least 60 resonant frequencies during the audio edit. I probably did more audio editing on that than on my songs LOL!!!! Or about the same. Which is nuts for a spoken word interview. I'm hoping either this or Rode Micro solves my outdoors-content-creation-with-a-friend-itch.
Thank you for this video it's answered a lot of my questions now if you're just a person that's just walking around walking around just doing videos I need a better audio is there a need to buy the DJI Mike 2 more than a beginner and intermediate person would need I am going to be gifted a microphone and they asked which one I wanted 😂I appreciate your feedback on this thank you so much👍
@@ThinkMediaTV yeah noticed it in different review. I ask because that would make it a interesting cheap option for action cam 4/5 use. Any idea if these smaller mic's can be used on the mic2 receiver ?
@@uzico Yeah but i already have the big dji mic2 and some others. Them goal for this is smaller when travelling or on bicycle videos i make. For that it will connect directly to action5 / osmo3 so size matters. I have ordered the $59 set will get it and test. Getting the one with the case means more space in bag. One thing that would be nice if they would make a recording app/somehow fix it so it uses their own BT protocol to phones so quality loss is not there.
@@ThinkMediaTV I am wondering if I buy a solo mic mini, if it can clip on to the top of my Pocket3 case like the DJIMic 2... It seems like it would be smaller sitting on top of my case...
DJI has been really competitive on people like us on the consumer end.. first was dji neo and now dji mic mini.. if they’ll have dji osmo pocket 3 mini (budget version) I’ll really get that too..
1) The price is a lot less then De DJI Mic 2 or Mic1 for that matter and 2) it's a lott smaller in size than the latter. A simple reason to opt out the the external mic option or the internal recorder on both mics.
I ordered the set yesterday after it was released I’m excited to use it and see how it is. Sounds good that’s for sure. Was looking at the Mic2 for awhile. I don’t really do post production for my videos and doubt I’ll ever need internal recording.
@ listening to both from different reviews it seems the mini is close though. I would say I like the receiver of the mic 2 more I played with a mic 2 it was cool. But for the price the mini is great and it’s compact and easy. We will see hopefully mine comes today.
Do the mic minis record onboard without using the receivers? That’s one of the best features of the DJI Mic so you don’t need to worry about receiver and just sync audio and video in post
can the RECEIVER record audio from the transmitter without being plugged into a camera or other device? And is there an onboard mic on the receiver itself? (I believe the mic2 has that feature?)
I believe you are talking about backup recording on the DJI Mic 2. If so, the Mic Mini does not have that feature, It has to be plugged into a device to record audio! Hope this helps!
Thanks for the thorough video! I was wondering with the magnet removed from the transmitter, can the clip be placed into the hot shoe of a camera? Or is it narrower than the clip on the receiver? For example, if I had a cage with a cold shoe. I can attach the receiver to the camera's hot shoe and the transmitter to the cage's cold shoe. I'm looking to reduce my footprint from a shotgun mic. Thanks!
I just got the single unit which comes in a nice pouch but sadly doesn't have a charging case. Even my older and much cheaper Lavalier microphone came with a charging case. Aside from that little annoyance, based on your review I am looking forward to using this device with my OM5 gimbal and iPhone. Can you tell me how I know when the devices are charged fully. I have a green light flashing twice quickly on my mic in the charging mount it came with but don't know what that means. Thanks.

USD $169 LMAO
noise cancel is wrong

RIGHT! Neo then goggles N3 now this!
I was stunned to see the price range under $200! Woohoo 🙌

While ordering you can actually choose to have 3 different colours!
They come in white & black
This is INSANE value for the price! Just put in a pre order thanks to this video! Thank you

6:40 sounds surprisingly good and full, maybe partly because it´s picking up the chest voice due to placement. For the price, it´s a surprise.
sound quality is astonishing
Wow I might just pick one of these up just for the osmo pocket 3
So with the usb C adapter, would I be able to connect the receiver to my gopro?
Love the audio profile. Wasn't expecting it to be this good. It has that calm travel video-like audio quality.
I know, right? Totally blew me away!
Can you compare it to Hollyland Lark M2?

It does my head in.
After contacting DJI by phone, they confirmed the mini transmitter doesn't link with the mic 2 receiver.
Way to go DJI.
And boom I still have a lightning port on my phone. Honestly keeping up with this shit is exhausting 😂
Just got mine for Christmas! Do you know if it works with the Osmo pocket 2? I haven’t upgraded to the 3 yet. 😅
Thanks for the review, mine is out for delivery this afternoon.

how do split the left and right track in premiere to edit the audio tracks individually?
Power button stop / start recording - this features works with iPhone 15 pro as well?
Yeah, that would be great.
Can you plug the receiver into a TASCAM DR-60DmkII mixer to have more control?
Can you connect both transmitters to the action 5 pro? Or just one?
5:15 100%! I hate apps. Does this work in gopro?
say your recording a walk 'n talk with two, each with one transmitter. In post, does each transmitter record in 2 channel stereo or simply mono?

Were the audio around 8:10 been enhanced or manipulated in post prod? Gosh that sounded good
Nope!
Now we're waiting for an honest review from a blogger who wasn't paid and who can compare Dji mic mini vs RODE Wireless Micro vs Hollyland lark m2...
The Verge compares them.
RODE Wireless Pro is Still #1
Yesss
Will the mini connect using the mic 2 receiver? I can’t get a straight answer from DJI.
No
Thanks … anyway to add a USB-C to Lightning connector to allow transmitter to attach to iPhone 13?

Excellent presentation! Awesome

not much high frequencies.. The clip can be rotated in 360?
With being able to also attach the receiver to your laptop, could this feature also be used for voiceovers?

Thank you so much Nathan, I saw this just come out and was hoping that you had a review, Guess what? You did, thank you, I am buying a set!!
My pleasure!
I'll definitely stick to my Mic 2. What I love about it is the internal recording.
can i record using the iphone camera app using this? or do i need to download a third party app for iphone
I used the iPhone's default camera app!
Nice video, the mini works with the previous receiver?
Does it connect to iPhone 14
Great Job!
Appreciate it!
Wow! 10:41 dji action cam so good
bluetooth can transmit cd quality signal since years.. i dont know why quality is so bad without dji receiver.. any clue?
If the lights on the TX and RX are solid yellow/orange... does that just mean the battery on any of them is low?
The distance test was funny 😂
I try! lol
@ThinkMediaTV, would this work if I connect a USB-C hub to my iPad or iPhone and then plugged in the transmitter into the USB-C hub?
Hey! How do I use with a gopro 10?
