Shape Up with Belly Dance Lesson 4 - Beginner Class is a belly dance workout where I teach you the classic moves of belly dance as you tone your body and learn to control your muscles. In this beginner belly dance fitness class, we warm up with belly dance posture and balancing exercises in a classic belly dance pose, then we learn and practice basic belly dance moves-snake arms, hip lifts and drops, hip drop kick, chest slides and twists, hip shimmies and shoulder shimmies. As we shape our bodies in the class exercises, I teach you the art of belly dance with its isolations, layers, and concepts of improvisation. Learning these belly dance steps with the rhythm of the live drum (known in the belly dance community as drum solo) is so much fun you won't even realize what a great workout you are getting. Nothing gets your whole body in shape like belly dancing!

About JENSUYA
I began my "training" in 1973 when most of my childhood was spent overseas immersed in other cultures. In 2002, I began belly dancing with classes, workshops, self-guided study, and more travel to the Middle East. Two years later, I and my husband, musician Robert Peak (yep, our beloved Drummer Bob), founded our music and dance ensemble, TarabRaqs. Since then, we have produced and performed in hundreds of live music and belly dance shows. With honors bestowed by the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, the American Turkish Association, and two feature profiles on the U.S. Government-funded MBN, Middle East Broadcast Network, broadcasting to over 24 million viewers in the Middle East, we are on the forefront of Middle Eastern dance in America. Your techniques are unique and easy to follow. Can you add a continuous dancing tutorial for 30 minutes ? It will be really helpful

my adult son with severe autism loves the drums so we watch this together hoping he joins in on the drums..lol thanks bob
That is just awesome! Bob reminded me that we recently watched a beautiful movie about a young man with autism who plays rhythm with a "retired" pop star. It's called, "I Used to be Famous." (It's on Netflix). Also, I don't know if this would be appropriate for you son, but we have an online course for grades 3 to 5 where we teach rhythm and a Mid East folk dance called Debke. Really enjoyed the arms in the beginning, and the hip drop release (which needs more practice). Kept the shoulder and vertical hip shimmy slower to do them better. Thank you, these are great and I am enjoying them.

Afwan Habibi! You are very welcome! 💕 Yes, consistency is the key. I used to "beat myself up" if I didn't think I'd worked out enough-thank goodness that age and experience have taught me to be kinder to my body. And to listen to what it needs each day. Some days, that's just a few minutes. 💕
I added another bellydance day to my circuit now I do 2 days which helps me have fun and feel the burn ..wow @@JensuyaBellyDance
I got confused - you have so many tutorials for beginners, twice lesson 1 and lesson 2, then separate videos… wouldn’t it be easier if you group the separate videos into complete lessons 1, 2, 3 and so on. In this way it will be easier to follow and not confusing ..
