When 2020 happened, I was glad they were able to get this movie out before that time for that cliffhanger to be solved. The 2020 was kinda like a baby version of Thanos in a way and no Avengers to combat it.

The “I went for the head” line hits so hard every time I see this film. Too bad when I was at the theater when he said it the entire theater burst into laughter. I was so annoyed.
I don't blame you, that scene was no laughing matter. That was the part of when the Avengers felt despair when they lost all hope, but I understand if the theater thought that what Thor said was lightening the mood.
I was annoyed too. This was supposed to be a serious moment.
I remember something happened when, right when thanos got his head chopped off someone in the back, said, "HELL YEAH!" and everyone just burt out laughing, but thankfully, no one laughed at the I went for the head line. Best experience I have ever had in theaters.

Looking back on this, what Thanos did actually makes a lot of sense. By wiping out half of the total population across the universe, this essentially stops any Celestial emergence from occurring. Since they require a dense population to fully develop, erasing that many lives put a firm halt to their growth. His actions saved countless planets from being completely destroyed. I only realized this after watching The Eternals, and it makes so much sense now. Still horrifying to witness, but the logic behind it is sound.
Unfortunately the Avengers would not be aware of this, and by their actions, puts Celestial growth back on track for their emergence. So in hindsight, they potentially caused more harm than Thanos, when you consider the grand scheme.
it makes no sense at all no matter the why and how ... he just turned back time for a few years, nothing he did prevented further growth and getting back to the status quo. In case of advanced societies he even accelerated growth given the free ressources for those who won the lottery and all achievments/developments (lkike modern medicine) remaining.
Half the people on earth, big whoop, just take a look into how little back in time we had half. ... just cutting population into half is a dumb plan, no matter the reasoning.
Celestials wouldnt even notice the short intermission of the Thanos snap even if it wasnt undone.
If that was his intension, he could've done something else.

@@frostea7043 certainly not according to the MCU. While your idea would be a workaround for the stupidity of "half it", it certainly would have required a more complex change (manipulation of fertility, ongoing manipulation of population distribution, etc) and explaination in the plot. Also such a solution wouldnt require to half all intelligent life in the universe, as most worlds still would be at or close to a sustainable population, which would mean that the 50% plan was still dumb and cruel.
But lets not overthink a silly comicbook villian / evil plan ... all what this was supposed to achieve is making Thanos the bad guy, and that worked just fine.

Realistically the only scene that those words can come close to is the ridiculously unnecessary scene in Endgame of every female on the battlefield landing in the same spot giving each other stupid looks to offer protection to one of the top 3 most powerful heroes on the battlefield that in no way needs protection....that was just unnecessary. This is most definitely not the Thanos from the source material. The Thanos from the comics is absolutely nothing like this. I don't even know why they chose to name him "Thanos" because he isn't. He is TINO: Thanos In Name Only. He has absolutely nothing to do with the Thanos from the comics.
I find it really strange that they were quite faithful to the source material when it comes to most of the other characters, but when it comes to Thanos they essentially just threw the comics out the window and created an entirely new character that has nothing to do with the original.

Hey, let's do an origin movie with Thanos starting out as a child and evolution into the mad titan ,and his love affair with the goddess of death. Culminating with his first monstrous act, in his insane quest to bring balance to the universe . That would set in motion a whole other franchise. What i didn't like about this movie is that as a example hulk is alot stronger then thanos and some other's are stronger then him if hulk really lost full control seeing his anger makes him stronger a whole 10 block radius would be destroyed it seems that marvel is making the hereos be weak and they certainly are not weak I don't think who the director of this actually did his homework cause hulk still would of came out to fight for sure but that's how I see it.
