Dough starter (糕种):
65g (1/2 cup) plain flour (普通面粉)
1 tsp caster sugar (细砂糖)
1 tsp instant yeast (即溶干酵母)
75ml (1/3 cup) water (水)
Ingredients (材料):
250g (2 cups) plain flour (普通面粉)
1/2 tsp baking soda (苏打粉)
50g (1/4 cup) caster sugar (细砂糖)
300ml (1 1/4 cups) water(水)
3 large eggs (鸡蛋)
Filling (馅料):
300g (2 cups) ground peanuts (花生碎)
Some sugar (少许白砂糖)
Some salted butter (适量牛油)
Katherine, I followed your recipe and instructions. It turns out so well.. It makes my dad very happy, as he still get to enjoy this during MCO . Thank you..I finally figure out around 350-375ml batter makes the thickness of Apam Balik..=)

Thanks for sharing the recipe. I tried using your recipe, its nice. My family loves it! But I used the ready-ground peanuts in packet form from supermarkets instead making from scratch. I am too lazy for that! Maybe I would experiment in my next round, using pandan leave to add into the batter to give it more fragrance. Hope it will turn out nicer

Brings back memories. The ones I remember had sugar mixed in with the peanuts. I never knew what they were called. I just recognized them by sight.

Hello. I'm one of your subscribers from Indonesia. So glad to watch your video.
This recipe actually same as in Indonesia, we called it Martabak.
But the steps to make it a bit different.
Usually, when the batter almost gets firm, we will spread some sugar. Then after taking it from the stove, we will put some butter on it. Continue with the filling. Flip it up and cut into pieces. don't forget to put some butter on its browny skin 😍😊
I am familiar with the Indonesian version. Not necessary to hv butter on the brown skin. That is too much use of fat and unnecessary food cost. And make the snack more unhealthy.
