This recipe works well with shrimp, as well as pork, beef or duck I use Pyrex custard cups instead of the aluminum cups since I didn’t haves yet. I also made this recipe totally vegan too thank you for sharing 💖

I fail to understand you precooked the mushrooms n sauces with garlic etc, but the marinated chicken pieces were not prepared cooked before steaming it. No wonder I find it difficult to eat this dish when I buy sometimes because I dont like the smell n taste of the chicken as it's not pre cooked before steaming. But you did an excellent job, very hygenically, neatly n meticulously prepared. Thanks 👍💝🙂
iI make this dish, but add dried (pre-soaked plums) I prepare it a bit differently, as I cook the rice and everything mixed all at once while the rice is steaming it cooks the chicken and sausage plums and mushrooms..a real favorite..and sometimes I use it as stuffing in a turkey or chicken at festive times. Everyone loves it. No aluminum anything in my cooking though.
Back then at Kuantan,Pahang of Malaysia this dishes is quite everywhere to be found at chinese kopitiams.however when i return to my hometown at Sibu,Sarawak of Malaysia i see none.😤

I was wondering too why you didn’t sautee the glutinous rice first with the seasoning sauce (and also partially sautee, pan fry the chicken with the glutinous rice too before steaming it. I think the fat rendered from the chicken will also add flavor to the rice. When you mix the already cooked rice with sauce as shown here will turn the rice grains into mush. For your other savory glutinous rice, I saw you pre-mix and pan sautee your uncooked /unsteamed rice before. Why do you do this one differently? But thank you for your usually wonderful recipes. 😊
Well, I be done THiS Recipe but with leftover Japanese Rice..I used BANANA Leaves with Pandan Leaf and it's what I use to wrap This Recipe then I steam it..I NEVER use Foil.. it's LiKE The Matchang wrapped in Lotus Leaf in a Chinese Recipe
Your method of cooking the glutinous rice makes it less presentable. Try frying the rice with the sauce then steam ot with the chicken. That way when u pack the rice it will not look mushy
if we are going on your cooking steps that will be the other taste so; there will be different cooking steps and different taste which are calling the top Chinese cooking steps....

Ginger juice and Shaoxing wine are to remove the raw meat smell. White pepper also helps but it will add a bit heat to the taste. :)

iI make this dish, but add dried (pre-soaked plums) I prepare it a bit differently, as I cook the rice and everything mixed all at once while the rice is steaming it cooks the chicken and sausage plums and mushrooms..a real favorite..and sometimes I use it as stuffing in a turkey or chicken at festive times. Everyone loves it. No aluminum anything in my cooking though.
