I've been a bodybuilder on and off for years.I am 56 now and started using bands a year ago.I am getting great pumps,I'm breaking down my muscles, and I'm growing. With bands you don't necessarily have to go to complete failure, but close.Time under tension does wonders and no injuries.

Love working with bands. Longevity with this kind of training is definitely possible.

Fantastic video and such great presentation, explanation. Your emphasis on keeping tension on the band is such a key for strength gains, I feel. I know my body feels it. Bands are just so versatile and functional, and the playground is the perfect place to train with all the possible attachment points. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Thank you for that great explanation. But one think bothers me: How can you actually perform a precise progressive overload with bands? If you lift i.e. 100lbs in an exercise with weights, next workout you try to lift 110lbs. You know exactly, how much your last weight was and how much to add. With bands, of course you can grab it tigther, move a step forward, choose another band etc., but you can't measure it precisely and you don't know, if you actually lift heavier weights with bands. Any thoughts on that?

Thats why i believe you should only use them as a supp for weights or together, is hard to log this type of training, you can only go by feel

Patrick... understand your question .. Band Training is about effort. There is no exact way to quantify the poundage. However if its about getting better, which it is... you can always recheck your strength every 2 weeks using weight. If its going do you care how it got there?? If you getting shredded... Does how matter?? Point is you train with bands because it make you look, feel, and move better . You will be able to tell and you don't need weight on a bar to tell you that... Hope that helps!!

I know you've been making these vids for umpteen years, but I recommend (for the talking portions) just stepping forward so that you're under the light, and then basically stand still, not do this step forward, step back, step forward, step back, step forward, step back, etc. But overall, it's good content. I wish I had a basement where I could set up a band gym, but I have a stair ballister inside, and a really heavy public park picnic table and fence I use outside.

Thanks for the advice about the lighting. I know this looks like a basement but it's actually a little hallway on the main floor. I also have a setup out in the garage.

Dave has a ton of energy. Most passionate folks I know pace when they are sharing knowledge. Maybe be less critical and absorb some of the knowledge?
