Hi Jorge! I remember asking a salesperson at the dealership what I should if my remote went dead. He was clueless except call the dealership! Lol. Thanks for a great video!
My pleasure! Hoped it helped. I do have a playlist of "how to videos" here if you would like to check them out: ruclips.net/video/aGOV7y-EXKE/видео.html
Hey Jorge, thanks for this. I didn’t know where the key slot was “under” the outside door handle. Or how to access it. My dealer told me about the key but nit how to get to the key slot. My son has an F150 SuperCrew and he told me about the spot to place your fob with a dead battery to start it. I tried to find something like that in our ‘17 Explorer but can not find it. Is there one in it? I couldn’t find anything in the owners manual about it either
Thanks Jorge! I bought my mustang from y’all in 2016, never even knew that about my car! So many neat little secrets about the stang’! Thanks for the video!
Yep. You explained this all to me when you delivered my new 2016 Ford Edge. Of course I immediately forgot because I knew I wouldn’t ever have to use it. I still haven’t but my warning message came on telling me to replace the batteries. Instead of ignoring the message in a rare moment of brilliance, I fetched the other FOB and headed out. Whew. Now all I have to do is buy a couple CR2025 batteries and all will be better. I’m sure you have a video howling how to change them too. Thanks Jorge!
Thanks for the heads up Jorge! I bought a '16 explorer and wondered if you could start it with a dead fob. I can't believe the sales guy didn't show us this! But for the PURPOSES of the comment I wanted to say thank you!
Apparently the fabs that come with a vehicle that has keyless entry pads like the F150 don't have the emergency keys in them. You just gotta know your code and you're in. But I did not know about what the empty slot was for in the cup holder. I think in the F150 however, the slot is under the rubber pad in the storage compartment directly in front of the floor board shifter (on those models that have them).
Great videos to watch, as i just picked up a 2016 GT/Coyote Performance Package. I found the other video with the 5 things to know. Thanks for heads up, take care.
Yeah, so this is kind of a difficult process. Exposing the key hole and getting the key to turn was not easy. At least I was able to get inside my 2016 Edge and jump it.
Good morning great video by the way. So my battery will not start I got it up and running with a jump. Let it run and cut it off came back to see if it would crank up and it had died again. Any tips you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Ciara
yes good video jorge i need to reprogram garage door open place i you have video thank i have ford mustang 2015 EcoBoost convertible and oso i have en may screen see manual avanse track service
I have a 2015 Ford Fusion hybrid. It’s not a push start. I changed the key fob battery and it’s not starting or responding at all. How do I get it to start?
This video got me a beej in gratitude for getting a stranded girl back on the road at 1:30 AM in a bad part of town. She totally shouldn’t have been there, she was probably buying cocaine. Lol she said “thank god you’re white, do you know how to start a car with a dead key fob?”
Hello Jared! Thanks for watching and commenting. Sorry for the delayed response. It has been busy for us here at the dealership. Now, to answer your question. When the smart key is placed in that key square area, the computer module is able to read the chip that is in the key. The module is placed just below that area. The batteries are basically to extend the range of the key so that you are able to start the car no matter where the key is just as long as it is in the car. Have a blessed day!
is your truck a lariat or above and have the push button start? If so, then the slot will be under the cup holder's bottom rubber tray or under the bottom rubber tray in teh media hub where the usb connection is. HOpe this helps
Yep, the slot is under the rubber matt in the compartment where the USB ports are. My dealership told me about it, sort of, one time, but got the details wrong. They told me that just keeping the fab in that compartment would keep it charged. Apparently that's not the case. But the slot under the matt is where you put the fab to start the vehicle if it's dead. I assume the vehicle can detect it there and therefore allow it to start. I have a 2016 Lariat, btw... I'm here because I got a low fab battery message on my 8" instrument panel screen the other day. Haven't replaced the batteries yet though. But I have a spare fab.
Rob Fruth yes Escapes are the same but in your case the module is by steering column. you will need to get the key touching it. you should also see a "key" symbol too
GOD BLESS you bro... Thanks so much for your help🙏 ... This man is amazing... I called him and he gave me an immediate solution to my question and it really works. Can’t thank you enough for your help. You saved me a 10hrs trip. Thank you so very much🙏
Yes, the place to put your key should be inside the tray compartment under the rubber bottom in front of the shifter or under the cover of the cup holder.
You are a star ! Every Ford salesman should inform the buyer of this on handover ! I will be asking mine why he didn’t !
Thank you my friend!

too difficult to answer. It could be so many different things. I suggest taking it to a mechanic!
Did yo ever get the problem solved
PRECIUZ739 yeah. It took me sometime to figure out that it was the car’s battery. Didn’t really expect that a new car will have a death battery 🤦♂️.
Great video thanks brother!
No problem 👍
