It took a while to find a video walking through this info. But this was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much for sharing. Also, thanks for the auto window roll down tip, I had no idea that was a feature. Thanks again!
I'm a bit suprised, that many people still don't know about the thing with the windows. This feature is from the 90s...My Golf MK4 already had that feature, my peugeot 206 s16 had it and my Beamer E91 had it also. Now my Mondeo MK5 has it. And it 's not even the Smart Key from this video.
Do the remote start already installed when you get it from the dealership
@@Donnerfink not all vehicles are programmed with this feature. I have a 2015 F150 Lariat and it didn't have this feature until I went into the computer modules and added it to the settings. It's annoying if something is available why not just program it so they all do it.
@@joerogers7359 thx for the info. Didn't know that. It seems to be pretty much standard in germany/europe. Even the old FIAT Bravo of my wife's sister has it.
Unfortunately my Ford fusion doesn't come equipped with the door locking gig but it does have the window gig I'm anxious to find out what other features I come across this video just gave me a whole other out look on it Thanx to this video
The keyfob for my 2017 Ford Edge will remote start the same way (although my keyfob looks a little different from yours) but it will also tell you that the remote start was successful or not. Really! After you do the remote start, keep looking at your keyfob and within a couple of seconds, you'll get a light. The light will be green to let you know your remote start was successful, or it'll be red to let you know the remote start failed. I most often remote start my car without being able to see it, like in my bedroom when I'm dressing, and I'll know the car is running and warming up. Or, I'll start doing the remote start sequence while walking toward the parking garage. I'll retry while I walk until I get a green light and that way, I'm starting my car at the maximum distance from the car. That's my thank you for being shown in your video how to roll all the windows down and up! I didn't not know that! :)
I like the part where he says "actually".
Actually
I think I counted 23 times that he said “actual” or “actually”. Helpful video though.
I saw this comment before playing the video so I kept count and got to 20. I may have missed one or two, but it was actually kind of distracting.
I actually like that part as well...
@@carlosmejia5728 obviously he actually meant to do that.
To raise the windows, you only need to press and hold once. No need to press, then again in and hold. Just press an hold it once
It doesn't work.
the window up thing also works with the button on the door handle... i found this out the hard way, leaning in the car to get something, i leaned against the lock sensor on the handle and the damn windows starting rolling up on me while i was leaning in through it.
It actually does all those actual things, actually!
I actually thank you for actually posting this actual info
Funny that my 1999 Mercedes S500 did everything here except the remote start plus rolling windows down would activate seat ventilation as well. Mercedes would actually open and close trunk too🤣
Does this work on the 2015
yes
Dont have the button on all 4 doors the 2020 bummer only on the front doors
Is that the Ford fusion hybrid 2019 just wondering cause I'm getting one
I just got a 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid last month and I LOVE it!
in the video its 2015 fusion
The 2019 hybrid fusion key does the same thing
Not all key fobs like that one will do it
I’ve had my 2018 edge for about a year and a half and didn’t know all this!! Thanks. Informative video and direct. No excessive talking etc!!
All these negative comments really not needed. Give the guy a break. Also on the windows rolling down you can just let them halfway down by immediately releasing button after they begin to open and quickly push button again. The faster you do it the windows will be only partially open, if that's what you want instead of fully opened. Same for rolling up.
Agreed!
Totally agree with you in the useless negative comments. I wonder if the people commenting could make a perfectly flawless video that no one could criticize. I didn’t even notice the actually’s because I was paying attention to the great information he provided…
If your ford double honks when you exit the car with the engine running, you can prevent it from doing so by holding the keyfob pressed to the driver window as you close the door. After that, you can still lock the door with the fob. I do this when I leave my dog in the car so I can leave the AC running.
That double beep is incredibly annoying. Every time I hop out quickly to check the mailbox at the end of the driveway or run back into the house to grab something. I will try this.
not sure i get it, where should i press it exactly? window is big.
I been doing it for years, glad to see someone doing it too😯😂 its so annoying
Who knew you could roll the windows down with the remote?! Great tip! And I didn’t realize that “button” on the door handle would lock my door. Thanks!
Just bought a pre-owned Ford Fusion Energi and totally needed this! Thanks!!
I am happy with mine saving 100.00 a month on gas.. We have free charging at work and use only 30 % to go home then save the rest for the drive to work since it is more up hill.
If you want to crack the windows just tap the button during the operation, unlock/lock, when the windows reach the desired opening/closing.
Thanks, this is what I was looking for.
Tap which button?
@@rgruenhaus Unlock: 1,2 long press on the third press = windows down. Short press during the operation response (a fourth button press) = a halt of the operation. Same thing with the lock button. When windows are down. Lock button/ closes windows. 1,2& 3rd press is long - windows roll up. Fourth press stops the windows rolling up where you want them.
An old Ford Trick that still works today is if you have the number keypad on the B-pillar of the driver door you can enter code to unlock doors and if you press together 7-8,9-0 it will lock the doors
Wait, what?
and you can just lock the doors by holding 9-0 without putting in the code
5-6 will pop the trunk/tailgate too
the best part of that feature is that you can lock the doors with the key inside, and the car "knows" the key is inside and not outside the vehicle so it won't let anyone open the doors (but just make sure you remember to lock the doors with 7-8,9-0... otherwise you've got an unlocked car with the key inside, anyone can get in and drive away). I'm not sure exactly how the car knows the key is inside and not outside the vehicle, it must have multiple sensors and triangulates the position. I've tried many times to fool it, but it always knows where the key is.
then when you come back, use the keypad to unlock the doors
this is very handy for situations where you don't want to have your key in your pocket (i.e. you're doing something where the key could get lost or damaged). I usually leave my key in the trunk.
After entering your code to unlock the driver's door, press 1-2 and 3-4 together and all the doors will unlock. Pressing 7-8 anf 9-0 together will then lock all doors. Regardless of the key being in the ignition or not.
drink a beer for everytime he says ACTUALLY!
Thanks, im in the hospital getting my stomach pumped
Would die from actual alcohol poisoning actually.
I was actually going to post to that effect.
I did not know anything you had said! but did you know that there is a key in that remote? on the bottom, there is a key (inside) but the key hole is not super easy to find, it is on the bottom of the car door handle I only have seen this on the fusion, and I have not looked at other cars.
Edit: I haven't looked back at this in forever, you probably knew but if anybody does not I will leave it.
Id hope people knew how to remote open/close windows this been a thing on vehicles for at least 10yrs i know vehicles from like 2004 that do that
I mean as someone poor coming from a cheap 1997 vehicle I had no idea :/
Yep, my 2004 545i came with this feature from factory
@JOHN RUSSO not all vehicles are programmed with this feature. I have a 2015 F150 Lariat and it didn't have this feature until I went into the computer modules and added it to the settings. It's annoying if something is available why not just program it so they all do it.
@@joerogers7359 it has it you just didnt have it on your option list. Its not standard equipment on most vehicles you have to have a decent trim level. I also had a 2015 lariat and it did have it you just didnt have the option from your spec list
I didn't know it, I have a 20 fusion, I thought only Rolls Royce had it.
You can program your key fob to control your driver side seat/mirrors setting, key on engine off press your seating/mirror number hold till it beeps twice, when it beeps twice lock and power off key, move the seat mirror out of your setting and lock your vehicle and then hit unlock and see if it works. If it does you can do this for every key fob incase different ppl drive the vehicle with different seat/mirrors setting.
Or if the fob battery is dead you remove the cup holder rubber and place the fob in the cut out and start it
I don't know how this works, but it does. In a 2020 Ford Edge ST, it's in the bottom of the center console.
It's where you program the remote starts as well. The sensor is right below the front cup holder
You can also program separate seat memory with each key fob so the seat will auto adjust depending on who is getting in the car.
Ooohhh, now I need to find out how to do that. Thanks for the info!
We have tried that and it just seems to go back to wherever the seat was last. Also, if we both get it and have our own fob in our pockets does it know which fob to set the seat for? My husband is 14” taller than me so this will be handy if I can get it to work!
@@5heinens It seems to work for me, but maybe check your owners manual to make sure it is an option on your car. You have to go through a programming step to link the seat memory # to the fob. I've also noticed the seat memory can be "forgetful" at times. I'm not sure how it tells the difference between 2 present fobs, maybe the one closest to the detector in the drivers side dash it goes with.
In my moms 2019 Ford Edge I have that programmed with the key she uses the most. What you do is unlock the vehicle with the remote, the press the number button for what preset seat you use.. You press in the button hold it until you hear the first beep, but don’t let get go of it until you hear the 2nd beep, the it will program that to the seat button you selected. So the. Just to test to make sure it works. What you can do is move the seat all the way back shut the door then press the unlock button on the remote and it will move the seat up! Only works with the smart key only. Hope this helps!
There is a hidden key you can use if your remote battery is dead
And a hidden keyhole under the handle
Or you can simply put the dead remote inside of the slot located in the bottom left of the glove box and it will start your car
@@CJ-bl4de the key is to get into the car itself if the remote battery is dead
@@Floodbait_117 you can use the touch panel on the side of the door to unlock the car that little key won't start the car but if I put the remote in the slot it will start even if the remote is dead this is for push to start
@@Floodbait_117 The key is there if the car battery is dead, not the fob battery. You use the keypad on the B pillar if the fob battery is dead.
If your car battery or remote fob battery dies, you have an emergency key inside the fob, the plastic at the back of the driver door handle comes off and there is a key hole to open the door.
If your remote fob battery dies you can still start your Ford by putting the fob near the push button start, sometimes inside the glove box or at the bottom of the storage bin at the rear of the console.
The window remote is a great feature that you have to enable through the menus in the cluster and using the left navigation buttons on the steering wheel.
You can also choose other options like only unlock the driver door.
Enjoy!
I bought my 2018 Ford Explorer brand new in May of 2018, and I never knew about this feature until I saw this video, and I don't think that the salesperson knew this either.
Well, it only took me 5.5 years to find this out, but better late than never.
Thank you for your informative video, it's very much appreciated. 👍👍
Wow, I've tried everything to make the remote start, even used elm and Forscan but all I needed is just to click LOCK before 2x remote!😄 Thank you very much, you made my day!
Omg FACTSSS IVE BEEN USING THE FUSION FOR A YEAR AND I DIDNT KNOW HOW TO REMOTE START TILL I FOUND THIS VIDEO!!!
@@eduardocua7194 It's all in your owner's manual ! :-)
@@leighsheppard8614 thank you sadly I don’t have the manual 😭
Yeah they require you to lock it first as one of the ways to keep you from accidently starting it.
Yes! I just got a 2016 explorer and I just thought I didn’t have remote start. We tried it s couple times. Well I found this video while trying to search how to program a 2nd key fob and viola yes mine started right up! Yay
Thanks for a helpful video The actual/actually counter is at 22, my favorite part was when you worked 3 into one sentence. :-)
I thought I was the only one who counted them. ;-)
🤣🤣
I think the windows thing is called global , don’t know why .random fact of the day .
Yes, it's actually called "global opening"
Yes...the window up/down via the remote is called Global.
Need to try the window thing on my car would be nice on the hotter days just have a little fiesta (I'm from the UK) and it not top of the line a not sure it will work 🙂
@@PsychoticEwok it is worth a shot. Some Ford vehicles have it...some don't. Only one way to find out. I like the fact that I can also close my trunk with the remote.
@@SuperFrogman69 pfff check out mister bloody fancy here 😆 yeah my dad's car does that kind of jealous tbh 😂
I just bought a 2017 Focus titanium with the smart key good to know all this.
I just bought one too, loving it so far
The window trick doesn't work on the Focus sold in north america by default, you need to use a scan tool and enable the feature in the computer first.
My F150 smart key doesn't have the trunk button 🤣🤣🤣
Mine does but opens the tailgate.
My 19 Fusion Energi doesn't have the touch-to-lock on the back handles 😭 Sad they gave up on the Fusion...I love it!
Yeah I feel like I want the older car now
Well I mean it's not hard just using the driver or passenger door to lock the doors, or even better key pad, I mean got ways of locking the vehicle, an you may want the older but the new one blows it away especially LED lights an led strips looks more aggressive, I have titanium hybrid model! An the sync system is WAY better then the older one I heard I have 3.4 since the update like the 2020s
If a keyfob battery is dying, a message will pop up on the dash cluster telling you to replace the battery.
The only thing(s) I didn't know was winding the windows down...that would be a cool thing to do on a hot day as you're walking back to the car. Will need to remember that. Why did they not say that that the dealership? Also didn't know you could shut off the remote start manually. I have a 2016 Ford Edge
I actually have actually the same actually car and it actually worked actually very well actually better than that actually. Actually I don't actually have the car actually I just wanted to say actually as many times as I could actually say it
I'm about to go try these neat features!
Thank you so much for posting this video!
I cut keys and program car keys for a living as a locksmith. You would be surprised how many people don't know they have an emergency key, and hoe many know its there, but don't know the door has a manual lock under the cap on the handle 🤣
Thats why its going to be very interesting when the grid goes down and all technology seazes to exist, how many people will become lost and helpless
I'd say more than half are surprised when they find out. That's from poor sales people not doing proper customer hand over.
Its called global opening, now Fords global window system. Had it back in the early 2000. Had people accidentally hit it rolled all the windows down when it was raining. Some vehicles you can turn it off and on.
not all vehicles are programmed with this feature. I have a 2015 F150 Lariat and it didn't have this feature until I went into the computer modules and added it to the settings. It's annoying if something is available why not just program it so they all do it.
If you type in your code on the door then press 5-6 it pops your trunk
Bro!! I have a 2014 and the windows up/down I NEVER knew I could do 😫🤣 awesome. Thanks man
Good God all I here is actually
I have a 2016 Ford Fusion and it didn’t come with this smart key
Same. It’s similar and my remote start is a separate FOB. Kind of annoying..
mine either and its a hybrid 🤨
2016 fusion se awd here.. didnt know the window trick. Thanks for the great video
I have a 2016 taurus , this feature only works with the passenger and driver windows , and it tilt the sunroof for some reason. Unfortunately i can’t close the windows using the remote either
Remember when car keys only cost one dollar to replace? God ole days.
now they are like a monthly payment to replace smh
I just bought a 2020 fusion, dealer told me 300 to replace my fob if broken
@@Poloco65 I just bought a Lincoln mkz....glad it was borderline new and came with 2 keys
What are ya, 90?
Awesome features on that remote key.👍 I want a car like that.. 😁
Going through the comments, it’s amazing how many people don’t check their owners manual. That’s where you’ll find all of your maintenance intervals, safety and convenience features.
I have a 2018 fusion but don’t have that key will these tricks work
Yes
The window thing blew my mind. I have a slightly different fob for my 2011 Edge. Curious if it still works.
Didn't work on my 2015 f150 lariat
It should work. I had a 2011 Fusion and the global window down feature worked. Not up though. That came later I think.
Had a 2013 and was leaving a friend’s house after doing some work and came out to my windows all rolled down. 😂😂😂. In other words be mindful to your key fob when performing activities
I frequently hit the panic button getting in and out of the car. It's a slightly older fob (2013). So, I disassembled the fob and taped over the contacts.
Very common problem. I've turned this feature off on many customers vehicles. They complain about the windows being down when they come out, most ask if it can be disabled.
Great. I have a 2017 Focus and I did not know I can open and close the windows with the key fob. Thank you for sharing.
He says actually/actual 23 times in this video.
Actually?
He actually did! Are you actually mad about that? 🤭
I have a 2017 mustang and it will not lock the trunk if the key is left in the trunk compartment it just peeps and.does not shut completely ..
Am I the only person that reads the owners manual? You know, that book that came with your car. All of this info is in there, all you have to do is read it!
Could've bought used without the manual. So this is helpful for those people as well
yes
My 2016 F150's windows and sunroof would not open using the press and hold method shown in the video. However the Aviator does respond to the press and hold.
Dealers used to take the time to go through all that but not anymore
mine did on my bronco sport. He set up my phone, google maps and my FordPass app.
You can stop the windows halfway by pressing the button 1more time , as they are going down.
To be perfectly straightforward...all of this is in the owner manual. I own a Ford Focus Titanium, Lincoln MKZ and Lincoln Continental...all 2013 models. Also, to shut off the remote start, just press the button once. Again...all of this is in the owner manual...just look in the book.
If you have one! I bought my Fusion Energi pre-owned so I find it on the internet or youtube. Many times much faster to find out stuff on RUclips. Just sayin'
@@CarolynCJMatthews on the new Ford vehicles there is no remote start feature via the fob, it is now in the Ford Pass app. I prefer to use the fob rather than my phone. Also, Ford removed the exterior key pad and the only option is to pay around $400 for a keypad the sticks to the door.
@@CarolynCJMatthews I wanted to ask...how do you like the Fusion Energi? I have a 2013 Lincoln MKZ 2.0H...which is short for hybrid. Please, I would like to know how you like the Energi, as I am currently looking at one.
You dont have to double tap the button to turn off the car, only a single tap is necessary
Didn’t know about the putting windows down feature.
Weird though, the windows down feature worked, putting them back up didn’t. Tried several times, down always worked, up never worked.
The also work for Ford Taurus’s btw!!!! Love the auto window roll down feature
Yes 1 trick, dont close your trunk by pushing down on the spoiler.
Why not? I am doing that way over 10 years...
@@skuzmanovic3227 it's plastic, and it's possible to break it.
And don't lift the drunk by the spoiler either. Over time the spoiler will begin to pull away from the trunk lid. Been there - done that.
Why i been doing it everyday for like 10yrs
Didn't know about the lock button on the handle... nice!
AWESOME INFO! Just ordered a keyfob from Aliexpress! And a Ford vehicle from Temu! Wish me Luck yall!! 😅
If you took a drink every time he says "actual" or "actually," you might actually die of alcohol poisoning.
I'm actually already drunk
Can confirm the window feature works on a 2013 fusion se. My car doesn't support remote start, so the keyfob is a little different though.
Some Fords with the smart key don’t have the window opening feature. I’ve got a 2013 Escape with the smart key and I can’t roll my windows down in that manner. Also not all the cars have the pad for locking the door on all the handles, again my Escape only has it on the front two.
not all vehicles are programmed with this feature. I have a 2015 F150 Lariat and it didn't have this feature until I went into the computer modules and added it to the settings. It's annoying if something is available why not just program it so they all do it.

Intelligent unlock not unlocking only on driver’s side. Do you have a tip ? 2016 Ford Escape
To add, most folks are unaware of the back up key that is located inside the fob, in case of dead vehicle battery. I've been a parts guy at a Ford dealer for 23 years, and get allot of folks that come in needing their fob batteries replaced, and 90 percent of them aren't aware of the back up key.
Does anyone know about the key to 2016 focus SE key without the smark key ? Mine is different has three buttons for door lock , door unlock and trunk release . I'm now locked out of my car and waitiong for roadside assistance to show up . I know theere are different keys made some more basic than others . the more features more expensive . What kind of low basic less expensive key will unlock doors ?
If anybody sees my comment, can somebody help me, I just bought a 2016 Ford Escape titanium, and it won't work for me. I'm referring to the windows rolling down...
How do I disable the double hunk on my Ford Explorer. I'm sure my neighbors don't appreciate it at 4 o'clock in the morning
If you have a vehicle with that key...sell it and get a Toyota. Safe yourself the problems these vehicles bring even if purchased new or certified like new.
Thank you hope this works on my 2016 edge
Pls can this type of smart key work for Ford Explorer 2013 Limited edition?
Nice, my acura only rolls them down but won’t roll them up 🆙
There have been a few occasions when I found all or at least the rear windows fully open when I returned to my car. Freaked me out, now I understand there are some "hidden" features. But that didn't seem good to me.
So you unlock the front doors with the front handles. You cam unlock all the doors by using the rear handles. Also you just have to tap the auto start button o ce to shit off the car.
I think my battery is dead. I can’t get anything to work and cannot get into my car. The key that is inside the fob does not go up into the hole on the door handle. I guess I’m going to call a tow truck and see if they can tow it without being able to put it in neutral since I cannot get in. I do not have the code for the panel on the door since I just bought the car recently and they did not have it. If anybody knows a way to get into the car without a code please let me know! I feel pretty trapped right now! 2017 Ford Edge titanium
Socks I have a 2016 Ford Explorer Limited and the window up down did not work for me.
The beep doesn't tell you that the car is locked. Quite the opposite. It's telling you that a door or window isn't closed properly.
Actually, I think he needs an actual memory reset, and delete the word actually from his actual memory bank.
To lock doors with fob. Does it set alarm with just one click or need to double click and hear car horn beep? Does touching door handle outside to lock car set the alarm as well??
My ford fusion won’t start idk why. It’s a 2018
which key combination “auto-sends” this months payment? Please do tell .. .. lol

You can actually turn off the vehicle after remote starting by only pressing the button once.
I was bummed, and nun of the window hacks work with the switch blade key.. :-(
Ford keys have done these things since 2000, I was ready to learn something...
Only problem is you can't remote start your vehicle if your check engine light is on

Glad this still works because the app to control the car & go times on the Energi doesn’t work anymore. Some BS firmware update rendered it useless & of course I’m out of warranty now.
I heard about the app not working anymore due to that update AND that they haven't bothered to fix it! Ugh!
