Worked on SST for years. Welds are grinded and blended using flapper wheels, sand paper and scothbrite.
Thanks for the review and the demo on multiple different surfaces. Just bought one from Vevor's Amazon store for $80.
Thanks for watching!
I love mine. Great price and heavy duty.
Very handy tool. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Harold!
Thanks Bob.. Great video.
When I was doing some temp work at a stainless shop that made sinks and shop equipment & hot dog vendor carts. They used a green pad that they told me was VERY expensive around $200 Can.
The one thing you never did with this was apply any pressure. As well in order to make the Stainless Tig welds disappear the skill with this tool is go one direction only. No side, side. The bosses son would rap your knuckles with a rubber handled file. My knuckles get sore watching you go at it. LOL But since these are way cheaper and more affordable for the general public. Live like you wanna live brother! I would do the same just because!
I bought virtually the same machine from Harbor Freight. It came with 3 different grit drums which look the same as your Vevor drums. I use it primarily for cleaning up metal prior to cnc plasma cutting but it also works great to get the dross off the back once I an finished with a cut. Harbor Freight sells replacement drums at a reasonable price.
One drawback with the HF version is that it won't accept the dozens of 3rd party drums available--and it's 50% more expensive. I just bought the Vevor and can get flap drums, embedded-grit bristle drums, wire brushes, sanding sleeve drums, buffers, etc.
great tool I have a version of this, not a vevor. It's definitely a great to have. Vevor I think has a stronger motor than the one I have, but mine has a vacuum port, which is really nice for cleaning surfaces with paint. There's really few ways to do tis kind of work so this is kind of a must-have for anyone who wants to restore anything of a reasonable size like furniture and with large areas of metal.
Any idea how this compares to Harbor Freights version? Is it decent quality?
This appears to be a good idea and I too, would have a place for a "surface conditioner" in my workshop, but I can't, here's why... Vevor seems to market almost everything, but just try to get a technical question answered from them, good luck with that! ( Specifically for me, I tried to ask about the magnetic base drill presses they offer, ( electrical power requirements for the tool )
, and as I said, it was a waste of time. So when and if parts and service are needed,... good luck )
I would like to put my faith in their products, but honestly here in Canada, I just had to give up!
If some other well known ( and trusted ) tool maker, such as Bosch or Makita, brings this tool to the marketplace, I'll buy one.
I bought one of those type of grinders from Eastwood when they first came out many, many year4s ago. Works great. The price of that one you show is very low. The drum sanding rolls look like the same as Eastwood's, I wonder if they'd fit. Eastwood has many different grits and sanding/buffing drums. If they're the same it would be nice to pick them up or find another supplier. If I was close to your shop I'd stop by with the many different drum sanding rolls I have to see if they'd work. Good review.
Yes they do fit I have two the HFT version and vevor ....the Eastwood and HFT are better balanced than the vevor. Drums are cheaper at Amazon and HFT.
I was wondering how this would compare with just hand buffing with some abrasive pads? Aluminum is pretty soft and responds well to abrasive pads. It would be nice to see a short follow-up where you just buffed it by hand. I know it would be more work, but you wouldn't need to buy the tool to still get reasonable results.
I may do that. Thanks for watching!
Wow!
Vevor: “Let’s just put our name on… well everything.”
Kinda like Acme in the Roadrunner cartoons. LOL
@@MakingStuff YES! I've got a 10 Ton Toe Jack from them. Works good.
I have a lot of Vevor stuff.
Will this be a good tool to remove rust from table saw table, and with what drum? Thanks.
I would get a different drum like a scotch brite pad.
@@MakingStuff I haven't found one. Do you have a link? Thanks.
Oh ya it would, but it's a rather expensive option if that's all you are using it for.
You should use a bosh 6" orbital sander! It cheaper to get sand paper and the drum get rip easely by sharp edge.
I had buy the same Kind of attachments for my big grinder and I remove it and I never use it.
It clean fast but it dont remove mills scale.
Thanks for the tip!
Apples and oranges. Like comparing a jigsaw to a circular saw.
That was amazing tools for restoring grinding marks love to have this if some one will sponsor me at tools hehehehehe hope to have sponsor also
Just subbed. How does it do on hot rolled steel scale?
Haven't tried it, but it would probably take a drum that is more coarse than what came with it.
As long as you stay away from the Harbor Freight version, you can get dozens of 3rd party drums for most any purpose: wire brush drums, grit-embedded nylon bristles, sanding drums with interchangeable sleeves, etc. I just bought the Vevor and it's a bargain at $99 with 4 burnishing drums.
👍👍👍
Just a reminder, once you use a drum on steel you cannot use it on aluminum. It will embed the steel grit in the aluminum and rust or contaminate welds.
Yes, good point. Thanks!
I don't understand why you taped off the section. It doesn't match the rest of the boat. Are you going to do the rest of it? Also didn't appear to remove mill scale, right?
I was wondering the same thing, why is a clean crisp edge important?
I just think the straight edge looks cleaner. The drums that came with the tool won't remove mill scale. There are drums that are more like sand paper and lower grit available from other sources. I haven't tried them, but they will probably remove mill scale.
@@MakingStuff OK you were going for that look,I was just thinking about a uniform finish.
this is a nice tool to have I have one and love it when I can use it I know on amazon there is a kit you can get that I have and it work nice hope to see what your projet going to look like after your done

I WONDER IF ANYONE MAKES AN ADAPTOR TO CONVERT A 7" BUFFER?GRINDER INTO ONE OF THESE?
Bangood use to sell one but they discontinued it.
Yes, they are just a spindle with two keys. You need to make certain you match the thread pitch. Most of the "kits" that include a guard are designed to fit the collar of a 4-1/4", but may fit some 7"--maybe. If you don't want the guard, the spindles are out there. If you can't find one in the US, AliExpress will definitely have one that will fit.
This seems like Shill-for-Vevor month. They must be sending out tons of free review tools lately.
