Fabulous job. Those must be the best loved pliers in the world… I’d almost be afraid to use them! Since inheriting my parents’ house I’ve been restoring some of their old tools that have been sat around in a shed unused for decades, totally rusted up. It’s so satisfying, therapeutic even, to channel my love for my parents into restoring implements that they once regularly used. I’m using a basin full of white vinegar (with a cupful of salt) to soak them for several, days, which takes off a lot of the rust, then rinsing, drying and finishing off with hand-held and drill mounted wire brushes. Then a liberal dose of WD40, wipe down, then general purpose lubricating oil for the moving parts, wipe off excess, and final wipe down. Not as comprehensive as this video but the tools are transformed and have a new lease of life. I’m now just wondering how to keep them that way, since they obviously aren’t stainless steel or they wouldn’t have rusted like that in the first place. Probably a drop of oil wiped over them from time to time, and keeping them in a wooden drawer which draws off the moisture in the air, and if necessary I’ll wire brush and oil them again periodically.
Wth? REUSE RESOURCES? Dude no hate but he's freakin using so many resources to restore this thing i mean the resources may be available to him already but they DO COST money(another resource fyi) and he's using so much freakin stuff to restore just a plier which if bought new from a store, would probably cost him half the money or even less and he's wasting so much time on this(another resource mate).
