"Nobody's Consenting To Be Filmed... If You Could Just Stop Filming"

  • We recently documented the area outside this Starbucks drive thru from the public sidewalk . Soon after we began , customers in their vehicles were giving cam-backs & asking why we were filming? I replied to one person in their car letting them know that we weren't filming since there was no film in our cameras 😁 Although the customers seemed to take issue, just as we began documenting, the drive thru attendant gave us a thumbs up & a hang loose 👍🤙, so he didn't seem to concerned with what we were doing. A while later it was possibly the supervisor or manager from the coffee shop came out informing us that people did not consent to be filmed. Thankfully my audit partner who normally joins me on Sundays was there, and immediately informed the gal who approached us that no consent was required since we were on public property (inset mic drop) lol
She then retreated inside with no further incident & approximately 20 mins later 2 officers arrived on scene. They proceeded to go inside without making contact with us which was nice & about 5 mins later they returned to their patrol car and carried on with their day to more pressing issues. I would give this Starbucks location a fail for them wanting us to stop recording & the police a pass for not making contact with us.
