Hi Roger, I am a retired teacher now, kind of always wanted to be a plumber. Will have to settle for doing some plumbing at my own house, at this point. I still enjoy learning a lot from your videos, and I enjoy them even more because of your passion about your plumbing career.

Roger, that’s pretty much the way we do it in Virginia, except we are not allowed to install two-way cleanouts. Also, we usually do turn up our slab toilet rough ins 4”, but we will use a 4x3 flange and glue it inside of the 4” pipe. I noticed this plumber sleeved the 4” to allow room for a 4” flange.

Very cool. Similar to how we rough in/test houses here in California. Big difference: here in southern California. We mostly use ABS for DWV. 9 times out of 10

Not when there’s 1” of meat left on wood. Don’t waste ya shoes. Drill center and tight to save the use.

Very informational. Thanks for the content. Quick question, is water pressure at 80 PSI dangerous? My inspector said 80 PSI is borderline dangerous and needs a PRV. The plumbing company argued as long as it's not 85 PSI, it should be fine.

80 is border line for what’s considered safe by code department. Yes you need one. Not dangerous enough to say dangerous. But will cause your fixtures to fail prematurely. Most plumbing parts from the USA have to hold more than 150psi.

Just an FYI, the B vent for the two water heaters is installed improperly. The clearance for B vent is one inch to combustible material. It is quite obvious the B vent is almost up against the wood. So if you think they did an excellent job you may want to take another look ( most likely this was installed by the HVAC contractor). The plumbing rough-in looks good ( still need nail guards at the vulnerable points and I prefer copper stub outs). Still not bad👍.

Like the video but all codes are not the same. In kentucky we follow our own Kentucky state code, so off the bat, every fixture here has to be individually vented so that kitchen sink isn't vented right because our code doesn't allow studor vents at all, and rightly because they are crap. That also means that bathroom around 7:20 is a big red flag because the vanity is wet vented into the comode vent. Wet vents are not allowed whatsoever here. Also, main valves to cut the whole house off is required beside the water heater here anyways. I do love the drain for the washer pan and that all the water lines are insulated, however.

I bet you all the money in my account that the PRV was not set to like 70… i come across so so so many slightly older home in service where new owners say “well our pressure has always been this low”. Test gauge reads 55, because its preset at 55 right out that 📦.

Since the great freeze out of feb 2021, I am concerned about my outdoor spigots and keeping the pipes that go to them from freezing. One is outside of my garage wall, but I dont know how the pipe gets to this location, from above or from the slab below, .. which is most common for a 2 story home built in 2000 ? thanks
