Alan Smith I had a similar situation about 3 years ago and could not find what I was looking for. So frustrated. This video is simple and direct. Great video.
One more quick tip, if your vent goes straight up through the plate line, it's a good idea to offset the vanity vent so there is no conflict with the electrician's light box.
Typically the entire drain, including the vent, is going to be offset a few inches from the centerline of the sink to allow the required p-trap to be installed under the sink during the finish. If the centerline of the sink is used as the location where the waste line is accessed, it leaves very little room to install the trap and is going to make for a messy looking finish.
I requested the free diagram and I received much more than what I expected. Very detailed for several positions of bathtub, toilet,, sink. Awesome ! ! ! Thank you so much. The video is the best that I could find here. I learned a lot.

Nice it would be awesome if you made a app that would teach this information and interact as well. Like different plumbing situations that are common and use United States plumbing codes to help inspiring new plumbers to complete the jobs correctly!
In the uk, the basin vent isnt required. It all just flows into the main stack, which is vented. I know that US code is more stringent, but all of that venting is overkill. Which is actually a good thing in my opinion. We also use 4 inch (110mm) drains.

@@TeamKevin31 easy, you don't have to tie in with so many lateral lines. Fewer fittings and pipe. One 3 or even a 2 inch vent pipe off the back of the toilet vents the whole room. It's in the SE plumbing code.
Is there a diagram that shows this? The issue is a vent needs to be placed above the fixtures traps normally above a sanTee so they have to be tied in to the main vent somehow.
@@RubbinRobbin yes there is a diagram, but I don't know how to load it for this reply. Normally you are correct, the old code for the SE is the same as this video shows. But if you can imagine a 3 inch pipe going straight up from the toilet in the wall instead of 2 or 1 1/2. No lateral tie ins required. Also the sink goes straight in to the 3 inch above the floor about 18 inches.
you can wet vent an entire bathroom through an 1 1/2" vent off the lav. 3x2 y ->2x1/12 Y. 3" run picks up toilet, 2" run picks up lav and 1 1/2 branch picks up tub/shower.
I have been a master plumber for 35 years now. A plumbing system needs a 3" vent by code whether it's one toilet or several toilets. We size the vents by fixture units. Never use an 1.5 vent for toilet or drain. I recommend u guys use UPC instead

Thanks for making these awesome videos and providing great content for everyone! This is great for the motivated DIY who wants to do things right. I'm doing a bathroom remodel in the near future and the new layout will be identical to bathroom #3. The only problem is that it's on a concrete slab and I can't figure out where to put the cleanout. Can I extend the 3" pipe backwards (against the flow of water) to the nearest stud bay and have a cleanout inside the wall behind an access panel? I want to do this right with a permit, and screwing up the cleanout will probably fail my inspection.
