- Sorry about some of the dodgy camera work, its pretty hard to hold a DSLR with battery extender and using a telephoto lens without a tripod while clapping! (will remember that for next time) Anyway its more about what they say than what you see. Turn up the quality to HD for the best sound quality!
Also sorry about some of the cuts this was the first time I used the Canon 550D for such an extended period of time and I was getting temperature warnings which got me worried. Also after a 24 mins of recording the camera cuts and makes a clip which takes a little time to buffer.
This is such a treat. Janeway and Picard are my favorite captains. Kate is doing a great job as "Red" in Orange is the New Black, but unfortunately her hair became a victim to her role. She mentioned that when they cut and died it magenta she almost cried. She always had beautiful hair.
Janeway & Picard are both abysmal, appalling & a travesty . dreadful & pathetic.
All five of them ought to come together for one HUGE Star Trek Movie
@@oneiroagent Or, pretty much get new actors to play them. Shatner is 90
@@oneiroagent Horrible, this darn pandemic is really gumming things up
Janeway is my favorite. I've also met Avery Brooks...he had my boys come up onstage with him some years ago.
Avery Brooks stole the show. every answer he gave was either deep and insightful or hilarious. The sisqo is very wise
"Avery Brooks stole the show" AND SCOTT
It was pompous and pretentious, wanting desperately to sound profound… but ok…
You don't see Avery Brooks do too many conventions, so it's nice to have some footage of the Sisko.
It’s because he is of bajor
For the first half of this I thought Brooks really didn't want to be there (or was drunk or something lol) but after the comment about taking his time with his fans, I was a bit more impressed with him
Kate Mulgrew singing that first note--basso profundo...just perfect.
This was a pleasure to be able to witness, thanks for posting it mate!
I didn't start doing conventions until 2016, but I wish I'd gone to this one!!
Avery was my captain of choice. No other captain there, with the exception of perhaps Kate, could pull off the acting and growling needed for being in the chair of a ship like the Defiant. A small, aggressive, little powerhouse of a destroyer that looked as harsh as the captain's decisions often were onboard it.
One of the best videos I watched in quite awhile...Most enjoyable !
It's time for a new Star Trek series. Netflix...make it so!
Christopher Grey Agree and I have a great idea for one!
Look what you've done Christopher.. thanks to you we have the abomination Star Trek Discovery!
You just had to say that didn’t you
This is an incredible recreation of the same scene in Galaxy Quest ;p
Fun interview of the 5 Star Trek captains in London (2012)!
Avery Brooks is the best. I cant decide which of the two are favourite captain, but Avery and Patrick Stewart are my favourite people of the 6 up there. They should have got Q to ask them the questions though. Thanks for uploading!
I think I prefer those two as well, though there's a definite warm place for Shatner for me. But Avery is such a delightful moon bat :) He cracks me up and -- at the same time -- impresses.
AndrewKendall71 yeah same :-) Havent watched much of tos tho, so dont know what shatner's like. But i like him for just being a part of star trek ;-)
***** in what way? (I'm not trying to disagree, just curious, please don't take it the wrong way) Voyager's my favourite star trek, but those two are my favourite captains.
Janeway’s always been my favorite. She was the Iron Lady of the Delta Sector :)
“Quadrant”...my bad
you've got no idea
That Richard guy had the best birthday present I can think of.
I cant wait to see all 5 captains.
The one big thing from Star Trek I remember is Transparent Aluminum and we laughed our asses at that, well they have it today.
If by comparatively you mean proportionally, then yes, I agree with you.
I hope everyone will urge more episodes. We are long overdue for another series of Trek. Even a Worf based series would be splendid, and actually my preference.
I absolutely love this ,it's awesome!
I want more new star trek episodes made.
Yeah I'd like to see a new series set after TNG/Voyager/DS9. It's been a few years now!
how could this get better?
Answer: It would be very hard
John Barrowman is the new John De Lancie.
John Barrowman for the new Q.
I know that this was written 5 years ago, but if they ever bring the Continuum and need to introduce a different Q, I think he'd be a good choice for a follower of De Lancie's Q. He can't be THE Q because DeLancie is still involved.
@@christinacody5845 Agreed. Although now I have a new one: Brandon Potter. He's in this new show called The Chosen, as a Roman Praetor. (Btw it is a show about the life of Jesus.)
Yes, the defiant is a BEAST!!
scott and patrick for life
It is a shame that only 2 of the 5 captain's have had big screen movies filmed after their series was over. They ALL should have had big budget movies. All 5 series had a great cast of crew. Now it may be too late.
when people talk about their most fav sci-fi stuff, i always miss roger zelazny. i regard him as a true grandmaster of sci-fi, like frank herbert, but different. and hes way less known than he should be. check him out pls, roger zelazny. hes like the unknown original behind famous ripp-offs. at least grr martin knows whats up, his fav writer.
Small children won't grasp the subtleties; older children who are able to understand deserve to.
Die Star Trek Welt von Gene Roddenberry ist das Beste, was dieser Planet je gesehen hat.
there were 6 captians on stage... one from a different series altogether
one is not a captain
nikos papanikolaou Captain Archer, Captain Kirk,Captain Picard, Captain Sisco, Captain Janeway, Captain Jack Harkness (the moderator), like i said 6 captains, one from Doctor Who.
burned!
Phil Thomas He may have been a captain, but he was not a star trek captain. Hence the point of this talk/video. He doesn't really count in this situation, and neither does any other actor playing a captain in TV. Unless they played a star trek captain at some point in time.
Brittany Radcliff Unless I missed something there were no other captains from all of TV on stage, only those 6. The talk may have been focused on Star Trek but this is not the point I was making, I was pointing out that there was another franchise represented on stage.
Just eating a delicious Pizza. Then loosing my shit at "Pockets" with full mouth unable to stop laughing :D
if your are not having fun ... you are not doing it right!!
great upload :D
I agree! I got into it after it went into reruns. Kirk then Archer in my opinion. The others don't come near!
Missing Captain Sulu
Avery is a professor. He doesn't need the money.
It's good to see Avery not stoned out of his gourd.
Avery is a good choice, I find it really hard to believe that you consider Kate in the same league especially in aggressiveness. Yeah she has her moments of anger being in the Delta Quadrant but I think the real Captains (Kirk and Picard) could have handled the Defiant no problem, and both probably would have made it home to the Alpha Quadrant by the fourth season.
Kirk would've been home by the end of the first episode lol
Scott you look very familiar. William Shatner your voice is still the same and I love it!
The Sisko is wise...
I wish Scott Bakula had answered more questions.
I am really growing to love Enterprise and it's characters :(
You will be one of the very few that do
The show itself wasn't that great, but the last 2 seasons really had it come into its own but ended too soon. It could have been a great redemption for the show. I still think Archer was a good captain.
@@709mash He wasn’t a bad Captain, but compared with the likes of the other 4, there’s really no comparison. Especially Sisko. DS9 quickly became my favourite series. Never thought a show set on a space station would work, but damn it was brilliant in every way. Sisko and Picard will always be my 2 faves.
@@muttley8818 Didn't think a space station would work? Check out Babylon 5, the show of the story that "inspired" DS9. It's a must see and my second favorite sci-fi show of all time after TNG.
i think that was the best show! i did not like when the shows started to focus on one specific war and enemy. i loved the one single shows finishing up one story and they were great until they made a never ending war story out of it.
Shatner's story about standing in the middle of an airport and flipping out one of the first Motorola flip phones was hilarious 😂
CPT JANEWAY GOT THE BIGGEST APPLAUSE! SHE MY FAVOURITE & PICARD
everyone hated her
@@peanut1001xlol just you
Captain Jack in conversation with the Star Trek captains. I had to watch this in ten minute installments or the nerdgasm may have killed me.
Best comment.
Take 1 dose of Babylon 5 and the Nerdgasms will subside.
love B5
Is amazing how Piccard got so popular. Of course, Patrick Stewart deserves every penny.
Patrick's microphone wasn't working, so he MADE IT SO
Also, in answer to the little boy's question; Space is big. Really big. Think of the biggest number you can think of. Multiply by a million. Then another million, then another million, and you're still not even close to how mind-bogglingly big space is.
x1StapleGun I have a great imagination. And the space can't be THAT big. It's no bigger than 20 bn light years ;]
oh
Johny Walker actually, it is expanding every second...for ever.
Johny Walker Depends on what units you use for measurement :)
Avery Brooks would have made a great Lex Luthor.
if he did play lex, superman would be dead before he hit kansas.
Patrick Stewart has such a sense of the moment. He’s magical :)
This is neither here nor there, but Kate Mulgrew is the youngest of the five (Shatner being the oldest). For something reason I thought that Scott Bakula was younger, but he'll be 61 this year. Time doesn't stand still for anyone.
"Time is the fire in which we burn.."
Shatner is the freakin MAN. Such a legend, and so self aware. Awesome stuff.
yes, he is. he is like the "mean" person and such. but i love him. shatner to me is just iconic.
@@Slimer-kf6ss he's been a butthead and weird sometimes, but his age and all of his roles have overcome that.
I can't believe John Barrowman is pushing 50.
The captains singing Happy Birthday is just so wholesome even if it was forced
100%! I normally hate that stuff and the dryness of the birthday song, but how they just jumped in warmed my heart. ❤ It was easy enough to do and they are clearly gracious to their fans. What a special memory for that person, regardless of it being forced, as they didn't make it feel that way.
Riker: "Tough little ship."
Worf: "Little?!"
Patrick Stewart showing up in a suit is so... Patrick Stewart.
I really wish we had more Star Trek Enterprise, I really liked it, At least compared to disco.
So much love for Kate... Simply a superb person and easily my favourite captain.
i was shocked to learn that she was a mean person on set. that puts a dark cloud over the show for me.
@@Slimer-kf6ssI've heard that too, but only from social media comments, and Garrett Wang, so it's probably mostly overblown. Kate apologized at how she came across to Jeri, but that wasn't because she disliked her, but because she disliked the producers sexism.
Puts in fan service = ripoff
Decides to be original = no fan service
The movie isn't the problem, it's the people who watch it, especially the type that can never be satisfied and appreciate the hard work/blood & sweat of others.
I swear I could listen to Avery Brooks read a phone book. I think he is on the other end of the Morgan Freeman voice spectrum. Instead of him being calming and soothing with his silky smooth voice. He has this motivational gravitas to the syllabic cadence and inflection of his speech. If only he were to hold a rally, I guarantee that whatever the cause may be, he would gain infinite support. If I remember correctly he is a huge advocate for human equality, with a main focus on African-American civil rights. I can't express how insane it is to me, that in the 21st century of this common era of ours, that someone has to be a spokesperson for the concept of "equality". You know? The simple human state of think that is literally the easiest concept to master. Where when you wake up and decide what you're going to ostracize and hate. You check the box that says, "nothing". Anyway, I was a DS9 fan growing up and really enjoyed this panel. I wish that someone had found a way for these wonderful 5 gentlemen to reprise their roles. So that they may be on the same screen at the same time. It would have been wonderful, but alas, it doesn't appear like it will be. It would be hard to go backwards with the "Star Trek" movies that rebooted the franchise. I may be wrong, but I'd say that, that juggernaut killed anything involving the former shows.
HA, you mad bro?
Corey Carnes
Nerp. In fact, I'm grateful you didn't subject me to another mostly-irrelevant "cool story, bro" wall of text.
Agreed. Avery Brook's voice is liquid buttery goodness.
I loved the calmness and civility he brought to the role, he reminded me of a school principal I worked with. Everyone loves him.
***** Yes, everyone obviously knows that inequality is bad isnt it? I mean, what good could possibly come out of people working together towards bettering humanity and evolving from the primitive caves people live in surrounded by there ignorance and prejudice caused by uncontrolled primitive emotions? The fact that you are here on this video suggests that you like star trek, and star trek is all about bettering humanity and equality and imagination. Yet you contradict yourself with your caveman comments. What a hypocrite. Such a shame to see so many resources being funneled right into your throat to keep you alive and for what reason? What could you possibly contribute to this world with such a primitive attitude?
To have all 5 captains sing happy birthday to you must be the best feeling ever!
Das ist so cool hoffentlich drehen sie alle Mal zusammen Mal Star Trek und hoffentlich dreht Sir Patrick Stewart noch ein paar Staffeln von Star Trek Picard
How can anyone not like Avery Brooks? he was a stage actor much like many other Trek actors. After TOS DS9 is my favorite series.
There....are...FOUR...lights!!
Check it out: Dr Sam Beckett, Hawk, Mrs Colombo, Lucius Aelius Seianus, and Sgt TJ Hooker.
This was really interesting to see and hear. Great capture of a historic event. Thanks so much for holding the camera for all that time. Keep posting : )
Is it just me or does everything that comes out of Avery Brooks' mouth sound like a speech?
I love the way Kate Mulgrew speaks
Actually the first female captain in Star Trek was the black female captain in Star Trek IV. Also, Rachel Garrett is depicted in command of the Enterprise C in the Next Generation episode Yesterday's Enterprise.
Captain automatic stabilizers are malfunctioning. We won't be able to get a good shot. lol
Avery Brooks is so deep. I would love to smoke a bone, drink a magnum of Cabernet sauvignon and engage in some serious discourse..
No posthumous mention of Jeffrey Hunter? Not good. There would no Captain Kirk had Jeffrey Hunter's wife seen the light and agreed to do the second pilot.
Thanks for uploading this. Great to see all five captains on stage.
I too have wondered where Porthos would pee and poop in the ship. And what happens when the ship is in combat and gets shaken about? Does it scare Porthos and make him pee on the floor?
The Sisko and The Picard. Oh yeah.
Avery Brooks (Ben Sisco) was the station commander of DS9. Following three years of command of the station, Sisko was given a promotion, attaining the rank of captain, and command of the starship Defiant.
So yes, He was just only a captain, but also a station commander, a rank none of the other captains ever held.
WAIT IS BENJAMIN SISKO REALLY THAT OLD?????!!!!!Z
What a movie that would be! All the Captains meet in a movie written by Brent Spiner!! Tell me that wouldn't be worth the time and money.
Mr. Avery Brooks should be a philosophy teacher in a university.
thank you for uploading this was awesome. i really wish they would do the movie with all 5 of them i think that would be awesome.
Wow before 26:00 happened I made the exact same joke to myself. Nice to think I share a sense of humour with Sir Patrick Stewart ^^
... didn't like the pelvic level ~ humor ~
But ~ times R eh ~ a changing (Bob Dylan)
I envy you. Wish I could unhear of him. He was in Doctor Who and Torchwood and inexplicably is in some huge movies now like Zero Dark Thirty. The guy, though, has one comedic setting- filthy. Which is fine, I got nothing against dirty jokes. But Star Trek conventions tend to be family affairs.
Dont think it was necessary for the MC to show his bare ass to everyone.. The captains didnt seem to appreciate it too much either.
Just seen the whole video. It's great to watch, Thanks for taking the trouble to record this event and to share it with us.
John Barrowman??????? Jesus, are they serious???. . . . :O
That's actually 6 captains talking :)
was he even captain considering the fact DS9 was stationary object?
Thank you so much for posting this. I have been a Star Trek fan since the 70's. Although my mom did watch it when I was very young in the late 60's and I remember it then. I was too young to understand it then. I became such a Trekie that I used to audio tape record the shows in the 70's on cassette and listen to them. I had seen each episode so many times, I could visualize in my head what was happening. I also remember when TNG began. I thought they were going to ruin Star Trek. But to my surprise and delight, they captured the essence and magic of the original. Some of my favorite memories is watching TNG with my kids. It is one of the greatest TV shows ever. We went to all the movies too. All the other spin-offs were great as well. This group of actors are all icons. What an amazing group of people. Thanks again !!!
for me watching TNG and Voyager during dinner with my mom dad and brother are the best family moments of my life....
Enjoyed seeing this..I love ST.
My fav Captain's are Kirk & Picard. ❤❤
Kirk & Archer
The Sisko looks pretty gaunt these days. Is he unwell?
Scott Bakula doesn't get enough credit as a Captain, come on his father created the warp 2 engine! It's a shame Enterprise didn't get the run of the mill 7 seasons because I think a lot more people would talk about how good the show really was if they didn't get the impression that it was a "canceled" show before they watch it. Enterprise went to new levels of developmental Story Arcs versus the average "alien of the week" that most of the star trek series faced.
You are missing Captain Pike!!!!
Loved Voyager, but all the Star Treks are pretty amazing. I love seeing this!
Really can't pick a favorite amongst these five. They all made the chair their own.
Ice Berg Oh come now. I can pick my favorite .... Janeway !
@@lordbyron3603same
@@mochapoetics KIRK only forever
@@peanut1001x which version? Strange new world's, Chris Pine's, or the original?
Fear: I am scared
Janeway: I know
To be fair, Enterprise had a pile of new ideas, they were just executed poorly in the first 3 seasons.
ein film von allen 5 captains star trek 5geration wo alle 5 beteiligt sind verganheit und zukunft wäre interessant nicht treffen der generation sondern weiter
@rabone first I thought your comment was harsh, then I watched the rest of the video. Averys' mind is definitely somewhere in the gamma quadrant
I like the Captain Janeway character, and I also loved the Voyager series, especially Seven of Nine
