deForest Kelley!!! I can't believe they forgot his cameo ! Wasn't that in Encounter at Farpoint? He is walking with Data through the corridors and talking about treating the ship like a lady and she'll always bring you home, wasn't that it?
Because that scene was filmed with Brent and DeForest. On most television shoots the whole cast doesn't show up for every scene.. only the ones they're directly involved in.
My understanding (I forget where I read this) is that scene in the TNG pilot was originally written to be Kirk, but Bill Shatner refused to appear so it was changed to Bones. So it's just as well they didn't bring it up and reopen old wounds.
Leonard Nimoy, in my opinion, was the most versatile actor in the group. I saw him once in a western, can't find it now, but he played an incredibly effective, tough, grizzled, hard-ass cowboy. He was very much in character and there was not a hint of the "Spock\Star Trek typecasting that happened to Shatner. He was a great and very underrated actor. R.I.P. Mr. Nimoy.

Awesome....love this....I am so glad to have found this conversation with one of my best actors namely William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy (who I have seen in other films) and that I have followed throughout the Star Trek era....all of Star Trek's actors are unique individuals which needs no introduction....Star Trek itself has given me hope within a hopeless situation to help keep me going when things get too tough to handle....that's when I do watch Star Trek to help me focus on something else besides the negative aspects of everyday living issues that are hard for to handle at the moment. Afterwards, I can then go back and focus on it with a positive aspect instead. Thank you all for your contributions to Star Trek and Gene Roddenberry's hope for humanity....God bless all of you.

Not the same way, but Spock did get laid. In The Search for Spock, he did pon-far (I think I misspelt it) with Savvik on the Genesis planet, and that's essentially having sex. And, for those who don't know, the supposed reason why Savvik stayed on Vulcan instead of going back to Earth in The Voyage Home is because she was pregnant with Spock's child
The Star Trek future world with no wars, no poverty and exploring the universe instead of conquering and exploiting it was truly inspirational. I am still optimistic
What Star Trek series were you watching. No wars? The Temporal Wars - Captain Archer; Earth/Romulan Wars/Federation Klingon War - Captain Kirk; The Occupation of Bajor/ Dominion War - Deep Space 9. I could go on!
@@rebeccamangelsdorf3806well of course he's talking in general. Wars and attacks and whatnot isn't what the show is about even tho them things happened on the show, war was never the premise and I'm certain that's what that comment was about.
I wish I had found this video a long time ago. I have never been able to sit through a video like this. Mr. Nimoy, "God Bless his soul" is no longer with us, but the rest of you are and for that I am thankful. Thanks to all of you for making my life adventurous.

37.26 Patrick Stewart is talking about my mum! We were in a store in Batley, Yorkshire, England his home town couple of years back and queuing at the counter, turned round and he is there, right behind us being very normal with his shopping... my mums face lights up and she says at the top of her voice "Oh its Captain Kirk!" - he looked at me and I just kind of shrugged. Star Trek TNG is the only tv show that made me cry at the end of the last episode. Seeing the cast at the Poker Table... knowing that it was over.... i felt like if my girlfriend just broke up with me.
William Shatner as Captain Kirk inspired me to serve in the US Army and never forget the importance of our foundations and live by them. Leonard Nimoy as Spock inspired me to philosophy and critical thinking. He also helped me cope with being biracial. I never could get Patrick Stewart out of my mind in his roll in Excalibur, as a result he inspired me by bringing Kirk and Spock together as a philosopher Warrior.
This was awesome. I never met these gentlemen in person. The only one i ever met was Walter Koenig at a StarCon in 1976. Both, my brother and I, had the opportunity to spend 2 hours with Mr. Koenig after the signing party. What a wonderful experience that was. We had gone with him, and his agent back to the hotel room, and talked about everything but Star Trek. I was 16 years old then. What a memory to have.
Yes, Picard yelled. In fact, on the very first episode, he yelled what has to be my favorite line in the whole TNG series: "Turn that DAMN KLAXXON OFF!!" I busted out laughing. Loved it. 😂
Loved it! Yes I'm a die hard Trekkie! This was just wonderful! I learned a lot I didn't know. Those little tidbits were just great. A must see for a Star Trek fan! Thanks for sharing!
Star Trek is the only show on TV right now that consistently deals with important philosophical questions such as morality or the way that science and new technologies should play in our lives. This extends into and improves every aspect of our lives, from smart phones, to the civil rights movement. Star Trek has embodied fully all the technocentric enlightenment notions that make up the American constitution, and hence, stands as one of the most important cultural propositions of the democratic American experiment. Being set in a post-apocalyptic world, it even sets a standard to which to aspire in the face of titanic failure, great injustice, and the long term survival of the human species.

Wow! This is one of the best and most captivating interviews that I enjoyed, to see these 4 actors known to have played characters like Captain Kirk, Spock, Captain Picard. Commander Riker and also Guinan (Whoopi Goldberg) is very refreshing. To see these actors interacting with each other and exchanging their memories on the Star Trek stage and laughing it is very emotional to see how this series has changed their life and also mine and many fans. Many thanks, you can't imagine watching an episode or movies from this series to fill the void in my life at times and give me a taste for life instead of depression. I admit having laughed heartily at some point in this interview thanks to the laughter of these 4 actors. My only sadness was to see that William Shatner did not watch a single episode of Next Generation it's sad because thanks to Next Generation because from there was born DS9, Voyager and Enterprise it made the Star Trek franchise grow. I would like to add that I became a Star Trek fan because of Patrick Stewart as Captain Picard for me he is one of the best Captain role models for me, his integrity and maturity is something I value and also the actor is so talented and convincing.
Love to Mr Nimoy and William Shatner for they are truelly my heroes and both men are extremely intelligent and responsible for many of the science we have today! These men will be in my heart forever. Thank yu gentlemen! You both are my heroes!God bless!

Love when they gather all these great iconic actors together in real life. I'm an average fan, growing up in the late 60's and 70's, now a retired Veteran I've had the time to watch all the different series and movies beginning to end. I love the story lines but am more interested in the special affects and fictional engineering involved. My dad was a pretty well known mechanical engineer working for the govt. back in the day, for about 40 years. They actually used one of his hydraulic designs on the space shuttle landing gear. Now my dad loved engineering, math and science, but he was farthest from ever being considered a trekie or even remotely a fan of science fiction and every now and then I would hope that he would sit with me and watch episodes of star trek when I was growing up. He wasn't interested at all. Well when Wrath of Kahn came to a theater up the street from us, I convinced him to take me. During the ship battle scenes, I could see that he was amazed and interested in the amount of power and the engineering that may have been involved, not so much the destructive power, but more towards the shear size of the ships and of course to see something that incredible taking damage like that would make me a bit emotional as well. But yes, the Star Trek series did help give me one of the more memorable moments I had with my dad. It just felt good to see his reaction, knowing that he enjoyed the movie with me, even though his amazement was more on an engineering level. I could only imagine what was going thru his mind, trying to imagine how they would designed a ship that large and powerful. He also commented that now he could see my interest in those types of movies. We went bowling after that. :-) So now when I re-watch the old series, I always have that fond memory of my dad. Many thanks to all involved in the making of those great shows and movies. God bless all who have past and may they rest in peace.

While you dislike some because they are different, or they are not tight with “canon”, or they are shot differently (serial arc vs episodic, only 10 episodes, or are more direct with social issues and representation) doesn’t make them any less Trek, or non-canon, or less believable. I agree, but why do you need to use all caps?
At 25:07 Patrick Stewart says "this is star trek you never die...." How true .
What a fun roundtable this was...Nice to see Mr. Nimoy again!
Rest in Peace Leonard Nimoy. Live long and prosper 🖖
deForest Kelley!!! I can't believe they forgot his cameo ! Wasn't that in Encounter at Farpoint? He is walking with Data through the corridors and talking about treating the ship like a lady and she'll always bring you home, wasn't that it?
Is the right answer. Couldn't believe they forgot that
Because that scene was filmed with Brent and DeForest. On most television shoots the whole cast doesn't show up for every scene.. only the ones they're directly involved in.
energybengt indeed it was. He was the very first cameo in Next Generation. Then it was Leonard then Jim Doohan
My understanding (I forget where I read this) is that scene in the TNG pilot was originally written to be Kirk, but Bill Shatner refused to appear so it was changed to Bones. So it's just as well they didn't bring it up and reopen old wounds.
Also, I believe Scotty first used that line in the original series.
I haven't laughed like this in a long time. Too many genuinely great moments in this conversation.
R.I.P. Mr. Nimoy.
Very true.I grew up on star trek tv show the first one.Mr Nimoy in later years did some voice over work.He was in the transformers movie the animated one.He played galvatron his voice fit like a glove. All the actor here are very good at what they do.
@@ericoxner326 He also voiced Master Xehanort in the Kingdom Hearts franchise. It pains me to know that the newest game is coming out in a few weeks and we won't get to hear his voice.
Mr Nimoy was also in a Syfy series called The Fringe
He also was Sherlock Holmes once. Which makes his reference to Holmes in TUC funnier.
He also was a surgeon in a Columbo episode.
I could watch these guys all day!
The conversation between these wonderful actors just breezes along effortlessly
What a delightful conversation! I have watched it three times, and I think I will watch some more times. Thank you, Nathan, for posting it.

Patrick: Data got laid, several times.
Jonathan: He was fully functional!
Patrick: He had 3 speeds! DO THEM! DO THEM!
Jonathan: zzz!, zzZZ!! ZZZZZ!!!
I bet every meme about a TNG character was started by one of their castmates!
He had three speeds... lol... oh Patrick
We literally learned that Data had a dick in episode 2 of TNG. The writers answered the important questions right away!
@@CrazyPangolinLady I suppose, technically, it is never confirmed which sexual organs he had, only that they worked. 😉
Unfortunately USA and UK don't want peace only profit and war and hegemony
What Star Trek series were you watching. No wars? The Temporal Wars - Captain Archer; Earth/Romulan Wars/Federation Klingon War - Captain Kirk; The Occupation of Bajor/ Dominion War - Deep Space 9. I could go on!
@@rebeccamangelsdorf3806well of course he's talking in general. Wars and attacks and whatnot isn't what the show is about even tho them things happened on the show, war was never the premise and I'm certain that's what that comment was about.
@@rebeccamangelsdorf3806no wars between segments of humanity
I wish I had found this video a long time ago. I have never been able to sit through a video like this. But five of my favorite people on this planet in the same room talking about their experience in two different versions of one show is absolutely wonderful. I have watched Star Trek from day one. I still watch reruns. It never gets old and I always see things I missed the first to the fifth time around. I loved all the characters. Mr. Nimoy, "God Bless his soul" is no longer with us, but the rest of you are and for that I am thankful. Thanks to all of you for making my life adventurous.
I always come back to watch this. These kind of interviews are so much more interesting and insightful. No overly obnoxious audience noise, or obvious spots for comedy, and no apparent rush to get through the interview because of time constraints. Just five people having a conversation about Star Trek.😃
This was awesome. Star Trek has always been part of my life .
Thanks to you all..
I love everyone on this panel unconditionally. Beautiful.
If the ground could have opened. Sorry Pat.
Great! Great! Great! Great! Great! Great! Where's Q? Great! Great! Great! Great!
Way cool. Very funny. Thanks for sharing.
Is she still around? If she is you should show her this if you haven't already :)
It seems fitting your mother's son would think Patrick's story was about her
@@myztik5716 - it happened, it was real, so in part it was about her. It's his home town... very few Trekkies in the backwoods of Yorkshire. Of course it wouldn't be the only time this happened. It was an anecdote. I bet you are great fun at parties.
Leonard Nimoy`s voice has such weight to it, could listen to him tell stories for hours. :)
Star Trek TNG is the only tv show that made me cry at the end of the last episode. Seeing the cast at the Poker Table... knowing that it was over.... i felt like if my girlfriend just broke up with me.
@Homer Simpson Star Trek Picard is a disgrace and non cannon to the actual Star Trek fans.
@@TheKawagawaga for me it's better than straight nothing...glass half full ya know
@@iLoveLucy420 it really isn't better than nothing
100% it’s worse than nothing. How about vomiting all over the legacy by creating such trash?
omg dude get a life. please tell me you're 12 yrs old.
Seeing this reminds me of how much I miss all of them on the bridge. Have fun in heaven Mr. Nimoy.
Kind of rude of William to say he didn't watch a single episode of Next Generation. Jonathan you are amazing actor!
Had the great pleasure of meeting Leonard Nimoy back in 2009, I finally got to meet my Sci-Fi Hero, RIP Spock
When I got the news of „Spocks“ death, I appeared all in black clothes in Parliament for one week. RiP
I met George Takei about 15 years ago, met Nichelle Nichols last year.
16 yr old in takeis room
Hmm
This is the best interview ever! Ever! I love Spock and miss Lenny :( Nothing can ever replace him, nobody. Ever.
What a wonderfully charming lady, Whoopie is!! She leads the conversation and at the same time lets everyone speak their minds without interruptions. I love this. She's sure of herself without having to throw her weight around.
Shame now a days, Whoopie is now a liberal.
She is an idiot for selling her soul to the democrats.
FoxyPercival714- 100% correct. I was reluctant to watch this because I can't stand Whoopi on The View, but I thought she was great on here.
Only because they are all democrats lol
@@FoxyPercival714 Or, you know, she is standing up for what she believes in. Unless you can show me a receipt of that soul transaction you're mentioning.
@Chris Terry At least Trumptards are better than libtarded SJWs.
Thought I would watch a bit of this.
Ended up watching the whole thing.
These guys have given so much to so many.
RIP: Mr Nimoy
Bill: I never saw a full episode of The Next Generation
*hands come flying in*
Leonard: Close up Patrick!
love Leonard Nimoy, he was so awesome
mzdva pure gold
Haha well done Leonard
Completely laughed out loud
I am so appreciative of listening to these actors chat about their experiences and perspectives with each other about a series that has affected my life and that of others around the world. Thanks for sharing this with us 🙏
29:11 “Bridge on the Captain”...I’m in stitches.
I easily could have watched another hour of this.
They are so warm and friendly and full of fond memories.
Stewart: Shakespeare in space.
STEWART played a great Gurney Hallack.
Rip. Leonard Nimoy

This is a fantastic interview. All of them are relaxed, good-humoured and completely candid.
Love to Mr Nimoy and William Shatner for they are truelly my heroes and both men are extremely intelligent and responsible for many of the science we have today! These men will be in my heart forever. Thank yu gentlemen! You both are my heroes!God bless!
This was absolutely beautiful! Glad this was recorded. I think we as fans, needed to see and hear this!
And to you great actors, thank you for your work which has been a great inspiration to the world! Do not ever regret the characters you played.
Picard season 3 is the only modern one worth any time
@@jadewolf1024 Eh its not bad. The way they tie up loose ends and bring back previous characters is nice. Trying to squeeze an 8 season finale into 3.... doesn't seem a justice for the long lived institution. Maybe they'll find time to work on the other series.
Agreed! Fingers crosses for the Legacy spinoff that's being talked about from the Picard s3 showrunner, he's proving his worth. Actually though, Strange New Worlds was fairly good as well... Picard seasons 1 and 2 were so bad though.
@@jadewolf1024 Oh exactly, I hope they continue the other spin-offs and keep things rolling in the universe :-) I Like Pike! he he he. Funny my sisters husband and in-laws were Pike's.
@@jadewolf1024the rest of Newest trek may not work for you, but Lower Decks, Discovery, Prodigy and Strange New Worlds aims for different types of people and Star Trek fans, especially younger and even children while still appealing to adults conversant with Trek or not. I’m 69 and love them all for different reasons. While you dislike some because they are different, or they are not tight with “canon”, or they are shot differently (serial arc vs episodic, only 10 episodes, or are more direct with social issues and representation) doesn’t make them any less Trek, or non-canon, or less believable.
They are different stories for today’s and tomorrow’s Star Trek fans. Trek is not stuck in the past, and IMO does pay homage AND is respectful of past Trek while filling in gaps and giving us glimpses back and forward.
This is an incredible interview to watch, particularly if you are a Trek fan. The group is very funny, smart, introspective. Whoopi ran a great interview here.
Awesome. We miss you, Leonard Nimoy ...

This was a lot, lot, lot of fun to watch. I miss Leonard too. I was lucky and got to visit the set of "Voyager" one day. Very business like, quick, functional. Amazzzzing crew. BAM its done.

I started watching Star Trek in 1971 or so, when I was around 9 and I've loved it ever since. This was a fantastic interview / summit!
I wonder if Patrick Stewart was aware that when he hummed "the other theme song" he was doing Doctor Who.
Star trek just always made, me feel young, the cast and crew of the enterprise, were and still are monumental figures to me, all I can say is Live long and prosper to them all

This was so amazing to watch. I felt like a kid again, like I was watching this on the Bridge Screen of the Enterprise.
I've been a fan of both Star Wars and Star Trek since I was little and the person who introduced me to science fiction specifically these two franchises was my dad ( may he rest in peace). I never got a chance to tell my dad thank you for introducing me to science fiction.
Absolutely brilliant interview, the camaraderie was very evident. It's very rare that I'll watch an interview like this from beginning to end, but this was captivating. Can't wait for the new Picard series. R.I.P Leonard Nimoy.
