My Dad and Star Trek...
No, my dad was not a "Trekkie" or "Trekker". He was aware of Star Trek, as everyone was, fan or not. But there was this one time, early-mid 90's, when he watched an episode of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" with me and my brother. While I don't remember the specific episode, I do remember his critique after the episode ended... Paraphrasing here: "During this whole episode, it never even crossed my mind that these characters were all different species. They were just people. This was just good storytelling. Now, in the 20th century, why can't different peoples of the SAME human species get along like that?" One of the best memories I have about my Dad.
Just another reason that Star Trek is so important.
This is fantastic! Love these actors and the camaraderie they obviously share with one another. Thanks so much for sharing. I wish I could have been there. I keep hoping someone has video of the Crusher Family Reunion, which I have heard was hilarious.
It is absurd for me to think and realize that TNG season 1 was 35 years ago. Also my person favorite ST cast is TNG, without question. You could just tell as the show went on that they were not only co-workers but friends/family. The chemistry of this cast has simply never been fully repeated in any other ST franchise since. I still love all the ST shows/movies in their own ways simply because I absolutely love the opportunity to be in that Universe to explore. Gene Roddenberry made a place that was safe for everyone to enjoy and I will always have a very special place in my heart for the foundation he built. I only wish the newer stuff would be just a bit more respectful of Gene's vision.
Not just Star Trek casts getting along, but I have hardly heard of 8 people getting along that well for a few decades!
Thanks for uploading. Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Great panel. Thank you for posting.
At 28:51, I thought the guy said something else, so I'm SO GLAD I replayed that part with CC on!
It's easy to see why TNG had so much magic. It's because of the chemistry between the cast members!
Gotta tell you guys, while at Uni, we watched new TNG eps...and we called her Lieutenant PHWOAR! :)
whats up with the camera is it because you were on a ship?
Haha yeah. And it was my first time using this equipment. Sorry!! Oh oh! I was just trying to share the feeling of being seasick. Did it work? Haha
I had to miss the Discovery panel due to craps tournament…do you have it?
We do! I’ll work on getting that up very soon!
Why do they *still* do these panels? These actors have answered every known question about their life, their careers and their work on TNG. You might as well get volunteers from the audience to have the actors ask them questions instead.
I think you have a point, it's very nice of them to do it but also they're actors and used to repeating things. And it is different to be there live vs. watching a video- same reason we still have in person concerts.
Dude why can't you hold the camera steady or Center
I think it's mentioned at the beginning that the ship's pitching and gimbaling.
Star trek cruise: pay some out of work actors to talk about an old tv show to a bunch of rabid fans willing to shell out big bucks to scratch a parasocial itch. Exactly how roddenberry envisioned.
I mean, it's not like a cruise is normally free. I kind of agree that Trekkies can get a little crazy and toxic but I don't see a problem with a cruise. And they're not out of work, even some that are at retiring age still acted/directed recently. And this is part of their work.
