- Decided to see what my new 6th gen Camaro could do. Car is a fully loaded SS (minus mag ride) with the A8 automatic transmisson, running on stock Goodyear tires. DA was 2100 to start and fell to 1300 at Gateway Motorsports Park. SUBSCRIBE for much more 6th gen content!

Reaction time only matters if your trying to beat the guy in the other lane.
Why is everyone so hung up on his reaction time?! The timer doesn't start until the car moves. He can sit at the light for 10 minutes and still get the same 12 sec 1/4 mile times

Just got a 2018 2SS fully loaded in blue with black wheels. Planning on going 800hp with Hennessey after the warranty drops. Love these cars. Play with them for 80k miles trade them for the new model and repeat as needed.

Damn, that's impressive. I have an '02 SS 6 speed cam only with 4.30 gear and from a 40 roll barely got a '16 SS m6 by about a car.. Things are serious bone stock, cant wait to see what intake, full exhaust and tunes do for these things!
On e ate up my stock A4 99 TA with 3:42s so bad. almost was embarrassed.

The counter starts when he crosses a given line, so it doesn't matter really, and if it was me I'd take it easy also.

Automatic is faster in and all, but I still think i'll get the 6 speed. Hopefully i'll have one in my driveway really soon.
I would recommend the A8.
Nice, that LT1 motor has a lot of torque down low. In fact if you compared the torque curve to the LS7 they are identical until the high rpm’s.

Bushwacker 702 density altitude. It's a curve that accounts for weather, humidity, elevation etc. if you run a 15.6 at a humid, hot, mountain level dragstrip, then on an ideal 60 degree, dry, and sea level drag strip you would run a 14.9 or so
If elevation is under 800 ft, every 1000 ft of DA above sealevel will add .3-.4 tenths to the time and drop about 2 mph. If the DA gets to 5200 ft, a mile high, the times will be a full 2 sec more/longer and upto 8-10 mph slower in speed.
Just a heads up on the official camaro6 forums, owners have seen 11.9 on the factory tires with the 8 speed auto

Damn! a little slow on the reaction, but nice runs. At sea level, a few of those passes would have been in the 11s which is crazy for a bone stock Camaro, but I have heard of many doing it. Nice car. Enjoy it!

My trans am is no 13 sec car anymore... it has a stroker w/ trickflow heads and two kits adding up to 500hp on top...
The 500 is n.o.s only....motor made 563hp. A new motor is being built now and i'm using a r.h.s block. will be done soon and ready for nexty year.

Talkditings dem but the SS is faster in a straightline. watch motortrends comparison on the m4 vs SS. 9 out 10 times the SS won the straights.
Adren Fernandez faster in a 1/4 mile, but in real life cars go further than a 1/4 mile. Trap speed proves that, just like Telsa's, they are quicker to a 1/4 mile but after that it will get walked. So for you to say a car is faster is kinda subjective, if you are referring to a distance at which the car is quicker to. A camaro ss vs bmw m4 trap speeds, shows the m4 would be faster than the Ss in a mile race, so why would a magazine say the Ss is faster in a straight line, it might be faster to a 1/4 mile.

One HUGE suggestion to this cam SS driver: Your not on the street. Don't wait till light turns green man. Pedal to the metal at last yellow. It'll be green by the time your frt wheels trip the timer/line. Obviously you've never been to a 1/4 mi track before.

He's leaving when he is ready rather than trying to race. Him being late on the light doesn't affect his ET.

not bad. up here were we are at .. that same car would only run a 13.5. high altitude .. 7k-9k in summer

+Mike Boss The one time they ran close was when the Camaro spun out of the hole. The auto and manual Mustangs run almost identical times.
+Deadeyedickification it ran about the same exact time the first run against it as it did the 2nd. It wasnt spinning bad enough to really make a difference. I'd say less than half a second difference at the same MPH is a pretty fair match. Every run ive seen between the two stock cars, the camaro has the slightest edge. I wouldn't go as far as to say they arent competition though.

I love camaros but i couldn't see myself driving this one. It practically has no door windows. Just a small gap to see your side mirrors.

Since when does sports cars weight 4,000+ lbs? Thats only less than 400lbs than my Audi s8, which is a saloon. Please someone explain to me why are American cars so heavy? I would never buy a sports car that weight more than most mid size sedans, what difference does it make how fast it goes in a straight line if its not nimble and agile like a sports car should be, because a s8 is heavier than this and run a 11.3-11.6 in a 1/4 mile consistently. What is American car makers trying to achieve?

A fully loaded camaro actually weighs 3900lb +/_ and I did a little research and the Audi S8 weighs 4700lb, it's a little more than 400 bud. now despite the big weight difference, an S8 has over 600HP as compared to 455 with the Camaro so that's why there's a 1 second difference on the track. Now if you want to talk about American sedans with over 600HP and still weigh less than the Audi, we got the Charger Hellcat, 4600lb, running high 10s consistently. Only things missing are some interior luxuries, but how can you complain when you get that for under 65k as opposed to 120k right? All in all, Audis are one hell of a car, it love to own one myself, but I'm young, and a roaring V8 calls my attention for now.
And about nimble and agile, let's just say the 45k Camaro SS 1LE, is beating Porsches and BMWs that cost wayyyy and above that 45k mark. ZL1 is beating Lambos, Mercedes AMGs and other high end cars.

Youre forgetting your comparing 6-2 vs 5-0 litre so pound for pound the Mustang is badass. No offense but why are all you testers so slow on the tree? Those reaction times would never even come close to wiinning one round in a bracket race. One time you got beat by a car that was 3 tenths slower in ET. Pitiful. Most bracket racers where I live are consistenty postng less than .050 reaction times on every race. some even hit perfect .000 lights sometimes.
