- In this video we show you how to use launch control in a new Camaro SS with the automatic transmission, this works in the 2016-2019 Camaro SS. We ended up running our fastest 0-60 time towards the end of the video! With a passenger! This car is stock with stock tires and 1k miles on the car.

Hey! That’s my house ur talkin about! I built it there so that I could hear you guys’ Camaro!
I tried one out and found the best time was by putting the slip target at 15% and the launch at 1200. 2000 is too high and a low slip target pulls too much power That last one looked a little downhill. I put 38 pounds of air in all tires and got a 3.8 and 12.17 at almost 115 at the dragstrip.completely stock But the one I tried tried had 41k miles and 240 treadwear tires.
how do you change the slip target?
Sorry but that was a rental and it was over 2 years ago and I don't remember how to do it, but I'm sure I either found how on YT or maybe the owner's manual. Don't think it was hard to do. Good luck.
@@highlanderc options in the launch mode click the right button on the steering wheel. It’ll say custom, select that and then hit slip target

My 2018 1ss auto don't give the option to change the settings or i cant find it
Man you're getting better times than I do in my 2019 ZL1, the best I've ever got is 4.6 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) but thanks to watching your video I think why I've never got launch control to work is I'm not hitting the gas hard and fast enough, every time I've tried using it I've held the brakes hard but slowly floored the gas and just sat there doing a burnout.
You have to go straight to the floor with the gas quickly. Your ZL1 with a sticky tire would do 3.6 0-60mph.
Some newer videos on my channel have a ZL1 in them.

Thanks for the video...wish I'd seen this vid a few days ago, before taking my 2019 2SS out before getting new tires and trying to get into launch control. One little detail that prevented me from getting to launch control...the owners guide says it will work in both Track and Sport modes. It doesn't...it only works in Track mode. I went out the next day and switched to track mode and got to the launch control screen. That's also where you can do burnouts.
They're fun cars once you figure them out!

Whatever tires come stock on the 2019 Camaro 2SS, and the car and tires had about 400 miles on them at this time.
Your gauge in launch control IS working. It shows up until you click the performance settings. It is that little rectangle at 4:59. If you had pressed the brake hard before clicking the perormance button that little rectangle would have shown a slider going to the right until you had the brakes pressed hard enough.
Even when we figured out launch control, the gauge never worked no matter how hard we pressed the brakes.
@@1018Video Its not the brakes. At 4;59 that little launch rectangle is there I see it with the lttle green light on the right. Dont go to the performance timers after you see the rectangle but skip that step and press the brake pedal. The bar in the rectangle should start moving to the right Will not show the performance timers and the launch/ rectangle screen at the same time. Good luck

@@1018Video Well it still seems you are not doing something right. What happens when you apply the brakes after seeing the rectangle. Does it not move the slider or just go away.? The correct display/rectangle is there in your video at 4{59

When we keep it on that screen and apply the brakes, it does nothing on the screen, just an empty rectangle.
Launch control is an awesome feature. I don't use it much, as I disable all the "nannies". Push and hold the button down until both icons pop up on the dash. Then it's all turned off. Burnouts and drifts galore!
Gets scary on wet pavement if you do that though! These cars on wet pavement will spin tires at like 50mph, lol.

You’d get a 3.9 with no passenger at sea level with tires warmed up rear tires 26psi on 93 pump with octane booster added
This car has longtube headers, an E85 tune and a full catless exhaust now.
Just got a 16 1ss and can't find the option or settings for launch control. Any ideas

@@panero718 I had a 2016 2SS, which is the same as 2018, and it did not have RPM and slip target settings. Got my 2020 2SS and it has these settings. It’s a cool feature but you’re not missing much. Once you play with it a few times it gets old and you just launch without trying to perfect RPM and slip%. I can’t remember what the default launch RPM was on my 16. The new line lock feature is def fun though. Wish I had that on my 16.

Apply the brakes hard and floor the gas, release the brake when you're ready to launch.
Keep flooring it you only take foot of brake

So what year is this SS? Because I have an 2017 automatic 8 speed 2SS and I don’t have this on mine.
This is a 2019 Camaro 2SS, some Camaro's didn't come with that feature.

That's the launch-control screen, not all Camaro's got that.
What are you pressing to get to those seetings..I get far as track/traction control twice..then what? I dont see options

I'm not sure, it may be a fairly new thing for 2018 and up.
Hello I have a 2018 camaro 2SS and for some reason when I put it in competitive mode and go to performance I can’t find launch control just g forces, tire temperature and other things. How did you do it?

Good video. After you floor the gas pedal do you let off the brake fast or slowly???
You will need to quickly get off the brake to get the car moving as fast as possible.

I want to put my 18 2ss through this again but it is currently experiencing torque converter shudder. GM TSB 18 na 177 & 355. Going in shop Monday.
We plan to get an aftermarket torque converter, not sure if the 10 speed transmissions have that issue but we don't want to find out either, lol.
The torque converter shudder is due to cavitation in the transmission fluid they used. GM created a special formulation to solve this problem that I think only dealers can get. I had my fluid flushed and replaced with the new formulation and the transmission is smooth as silk now!!

True! There is a recall on the fluid, you can take your car to a dealership and they can look up your vin and see if your car has had the fluid flushed or not.
I call bs on gm! It's not the new fluid that fixes the issue. This fluid is just a bandaid so gm can hope they can keep replacing the fluid until the warranty runs out. Back in the day if your tranny slipped you poured sawdust into it then sold it while it wasn't slipping. GMs new fluid is basically a thicker fluid with fibers. It does not fix the misengineering!
My 2017 2SS has launch control but not the customization menu

Check the owners manual. Mine says track only.
The ZL1 is sport or track.
Sounds right to me, that is a track feature I believe.

While traction control and everything is on, double click your traction control button quickly. The car should go into competitive mode.

Hey I have a question I own a 2018 2ss 6.8 8-speed and I activate stibilitrack and put it in track and I have my steering straight and I look in the settings for launch controls but it doesn’t pop up and it doesn’t show it’s disabled either it’s just not there any help?😅😂
If you quickly double-tap the traction control button, your car should go in to Competitive Mode, which then should allow you to use Launch Control. If you can't find the Launch Control menu, your car may not have that option, I don't think all of them have that option.
Man I'm looking and looking but I don't seem to have some of the menus you have. I select options but don't see anything on the right menus for custom. What's the trick??
Did you put the vehicle in Track Mode?
Or Competitive Mode.

You need a 2019 or newer, or 2016 or newer 1LE. Put it in track mode, then press traction control button twice to enter competitive mode. Then navigate to the custom settings.

My 16 keeps going left and steering against it to keep it straight just makes the car go left and right and nearly out of control
Sounds like it needs an alignment.
@@1018Video I thought that as well, I recently found out that I was launching it wrong though because apparently the automatic doesn't have a launch control function and your just supposed to floor the brake and gas while in competitive mode then let go of the brake and since I've done that I haven't had the issue anymore so maybe it was just because my tires were spinning out and had no traction

Is this work for the 8 speed Automatic to? Because I can’t get the launch control menu at all. I don’t have a menu in the settings. I thought I had found it once but I don’t know what I did and I can’t get it again and I have the 2018 2 SS with the eight speed automatic. Yes I’m in track with the traction control on in the competitive mode. But I don’t have the menu for the launch control. Please do you have any ideas for me about what I could be doing wrong? Help please
Hmm, it should work in all LT1 powered new Camaros with automatic transmissions. Put the car in Competitive Mode and if you can't find the launch control menu just try to launch it with the instructions in this video, you don't have to be in the launch control menu to use launch control, that's just how you can set it up, you just have to be in Competitive Mode.
I have done everything you say in the video but I’m not getting the launch control menu at all and I don’t have anything in the options menu for launch control. The only way I can get it to work is to put it in the 0-60 menu then I’ll have to hit the button on the right wheel control when I take off and it will give me the 0-60 time but still no launch control menu at all in the options menu. I have tried everything and I guess it is time to take it to the dealership and see what is wrong. Thank you for your reply.

The owners manual says that there’s two choices of clusters a base one and a high end or different one. I haven’t been to the dealership yet. But I just don’t think that my cluster has it. I have heads up display and I don’t know if that’s the difference between the clusters or not yet. But I’m going to find out sooner or later. Thanks for your help.

We had the launch control set at 2k RPMs and 10 percent slip.

That's pretty impressive, must have a good tire on it.
Set rpm to 2300 with 10%
Higher RPMs made the car spin tires pretty bad, the fastest we got the car to go on stock tires was with the Launch Control at 2k RPMs and 10% Slip Target.
