I don’t understand why people are saying you can’t drive that nice of a car in the snow. It’s a CAR, he pays for it, it’s his not yours, and cars are better in the snow and ice and much safer. They are more heavy and are much more even in weight. A truck is light in the back and heavy in the front which you can lose control much easier especially if there is ice on the road
A rwd car is the worst thing to drive in the snow. That mode is there for an emergency situation if you have to drive it. Plus why let a $60,000 car get rusted out on salty roads
An emergency situation? Lol yeah like if you live in California buy a camaro and then boom all of a sudden its snowing, oooops emergency situation, time to switch it up... your statement doesnt make sense, also id take my camaro to a car wash at least 3 times a week in the snow, theyre as cheap as 3 bucks to get it washed.

That the reason a manual car is better than an atomic because 1. You have better control of the car. 2. You have better traction. 3. Your the one controlling the car unlike the atomic the car is controlling you. Why would you ever drive a C7 corvette in the winter. Thy are too low to the ground

The tar based undercoating is good for maybe a few months to a year before water eventually gets underneath it & actually speeds up/exacerbates the rusting process. You could also consider pairing it up with these electronic rust inhibitors they're coming out with these days, see if that helps.

Dont get why people are complaining, he obviously bought this car to enjoy all year round rather then only a few months in the summer. And it comes with snow and ice mode for a reason lol
What helps me out is putting the car in S/I mode, and transferring it to manual shifting Instead of automatic. It seems like the power to the rear is limited, which give me better traction in snowy conditions. I live in Ohio and this was my first time driving my Camaro in the snow so I was worried at first, but it didn't do too bad.
Sam Aluka Yes and no. Snow and ice mode works good but with the heavy snow we get I was driving my Hummer lol. I took the Camaro out a few times in a couple of inches and it was ok. Still had to drive cautiously tho.

I have a 2013 camaro with snow tires never had issues. For all those people who ask me how is it in the snow I tell them with snow tires it goes better than could have hope for
I had a 2010 Camaro, it was the 2LT so it was a v6, and it didn't have different modes like the newer ones, I lived up near Seattle and when it snowed, that car stayed put, it would just spin in place, granted I didn't have snow tires on it, but at the time had a 4 wheel drive Blazer. I plan to get a newer camaro because I miss mine so much, and currently live in Georgia but plan to move back up to Washington state where it's mountainy and snowing in the winter, so the gist of this is, with proper tires I could get back and forth to work and grocery shopping and such?
I have an SS with upgraded 6-pistons brembo on the front, they are even bigger Not all 18 inch wheels will fit. You can look at this thread I did in the past, you have pictures, the rim I used, etc. With a setup like that your camaro will drive just like any other car in snow. www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=469933 Here is a picture of the wheel: i.imgur.com/5uzNnM2.jpg
I want to buy a 2SS as a daily driver. Any input? A lot of people say yes, but a lot of people say no due to snow and stuff. Is this car really that delicate that you can only drive it in the summer?
It’s only because it’s rear wheel drive, the back tires work and it’s not really ideal for snow, I would say if you get snow EVERY year and it stays like a week or longer it’s not worth it, NYC hasn’t had snow in years so I debate each time but tbh if it’s your dream car I would say test drive it
not bad i drive a charger hellcat here too, snow tires make it soo easy to drive. Last winter was the worst snow wise in years and i had no problem. I don't know about the camero but the hellcat has valet mode which limits it to 300hp and it is better then most front wheel drive cars

The only reason to not drive a car like that in the snow is to protect the undercarriage from all the rust causing salt being kicked up into it.
Just get it undercoated. Problem solved.
@@abbashaider8668 How much does that really do? That's one of the things keeping me from buying a nicer car like this one.
Kevin McDonald It does a lot. Its pretty much a barrier between the metal and the salt. The salt never gets through it and the metal never gets exposed to the salt.
@@abbashaider8668 Nice, I guess I can cross that off the list then. 🤘
@@kevah94 Make sure to get Corrosion Free brand undercoating & not the black, tar based stuff like Ziebart does. The tar based undercoating is good for maybe a few months to a year before water eventually gets underneath it & actually speeds up/exacerbates the rusting process. You could also consider pairing it up with these electronic rust inhibitors they're coming out with these days, see if that helps.
WAS DRIVING IN THE SNOW WITH NO SNOW MODE !
Cool video! How do you keep your exhaust always open? Did you take the fuse out? And if you did, did it throw a code in what year is your SS? Thank you in advance! D
Thanks! I left my fuse in, however I did remove my secondary cats. My car is a 2016. Check out this video for more info!
ruclips.net/video/qJ_XVbuWmC0/видео.html
Go into the Engine Sound Management setting, and set it to Track. This will force the exhaust open all the time.
First of all the track setting opens up the exhaust but closes it when in the lower rpms once passed 3rd gear also don't delete your cats just pull the fuse like I did and you'll be good and you get no error codes so don't listen to these guys that's how I run my car and it's great but remember you will lose like .5mpg because when the car tunes down to 4 cylinders it can't close the valve to back track the air it needs to save more gas.
Big L Ross I am in Ohio too I want to buy Camaro but little worried about this fucking snow
Do you still recommend?
Sam Aluka Yes and no. Snow and ice mode works good but with the heavy snow we get I was driving my Hummer lol. I took the Camaro out a few times in a couple of inches and it was ok. Still had to drive cautiously tho.
Big L Ross I understand 👍🏻 thanks for sharing your experience 😊
Great video and thanks from a fellow Michigander! Sorry if I missed it in the threads, but may I ask what winter tires you are driving? I just bought a 2015 Mustang GT and have ordered a set of winter wheels and snow tires. Bridgestone Blizzak LM-32s.
Nice! I use blizzaks as well and they're AMAZING
I’ve seen another comment saying the Blizzark’s are good! Will these work for a 2020 camaro 1ls?
I posted the comment saying “finally a sports car that drives well in the snow”. 3 years later, I’m picking up my 2022 SS today 😅
I got a 23 camaro and mine doesn't have track mode? what's the difference between sport and track?
I kinda feel bad for neighbors about the noise from the camaro but then again I’d do the exact same thing and burnout or donut 90% of the time
The neighbors are luckily car people!
Are those upper door pads suede? I’ve got a 2017 SS and mine are plastic...if so, I’d love to know where you got them so I can get some myself!
I almost purchased a camaro but ended up getting a great deal on a 2019 Corvette GS and I also created a RUclips channel to share my ownership experiences. My main concern is exactly what your video is about, I use it as my daily driver and I wonder if what you experienced in the video is going to be my experience....not that is snows a lot in North East Texas but we do get a dusting here and there. Thank you for making this video, looking forward to seeing more content from you. I just subbed
Thanks for the sub! As long as it's only a dusting you should be ok with the stock tires and taking it easy
Thanks for the video. I Spend way too much for my '17 2ss to let it sit in my garage for days after a storm. Just got a new set of Blizzaks and looking forward to trying them out tonorrow. We are expecting about 2-5 inches tonight so it should be interesting.
I do not have driving in snow experience. Is it safe to buy a Camaro with snow tire in Idaho?
Bro just revved his ice cold LT1. Praying for those internals 😂
Watching this cuz I’m thinking bout getting one then I’m like oh shit it’s Stoney creek
Its really sad living here in PA. Your whole life you want a RWD V8 and you have to settle for 4wd cars cause you're afraid you wont be able to drive in the snow. Such a sad life
Get a beater 4wd
greeting from Hokkaido, Japan
same here bro
Subscribed. I'll be joining the daily driven winter camaro club in Michigan this spring/summer. Right now I drive a subaru wrx. Gonna get a 1le.
That's gonna be awesome man! Always good to have someone else in the daily driven camaro gang!
I wouldn't buy a sport car if that was the only thing I had to drive living in a state that has snow months.
Finally someone's asking the real questions here
Have u had any electrical problems driving in the snow with the heat extractor hood?
No problems at all!
When he started the car i was just now putting my earbuds
I have a 2013 camaro with snow tires never had issues. For all those people who ask me how is it in the snow I tell them with snow tires it goes better than could have hope for
Thanks for this video. I am considering buying a 2019 2SS and I live in buffalo NY lol.
Nathan Backus what do you do to afford these cars 😭
Zach they’re not expensive, they’re actually really cheap for what they offer, good power
Zach just save as much as you can and not spend on anything you don’t really need and you’ll be fine
People must not know about buffalos snow season. Because it gets bad out here. 😆
I’m buying a 2010 camaro ss in buffalo
Maybe i missed it but which snow tires are you on?
I have a 17 2Ss in Detroit. Without snow tires you die. Snow and ice mode in a manual is fucking balls.
In snow mode does it pull timing to cut power or does it ease throttle-gas pedal ratio?
I had a 2010 Camaro, it was the 2LT so it was a v6, and it didn't have different modes like the newer ones, I lived up near Seattle and when it snowed, that car stayed put, it would just spin in place, granted I didn't have snow tires on it, but at the time had a 4 wheel drive Blazer. I plan to get a newer camaro because I miss mine so much, and currently live in Georgia but plan to move back up to Washington state where it's mountainy and snowing in the winter, so the gist of this is, with proper tires I could get back and forth to work and grocery shopping and such?
I live in Michigan and I can take any good car anywhere in the winter I’m locked down to trucks only cause our winters are so awful😂
I'm in Cali so snow isn't an issue here but for practicality I'd go for an Audi S5 over a Camaro, or maybe even a Q60 Red Sport to get AWD
Is anyone else here because they want a Camaro as their first car but they live in new jersey with terrible snow storms🧍🏻♀️
That is one slick Camaro. I'm from Canada so if you had to guess how would it work set up the same way?
I drive mine here in Canada. The best thing to do is to buy 18 inch wheels and put good winter tires with studs and a narrower tire
Alexandre Baril do you have an SS I didn’t know 18 inch wheels will clear the calipers on an SS.
I have an SS with upgraded 6-pistons brembo on the front, they are even bigger Not all 18 inch wheels will fit. You can look at this thread I did in the past, you have pictures, the rim I used, etc. With a setup like that your camaro will drive just like any other car in snow.

Here is a picture of the wheel:

Alexandre Baril thank you.
Tell me please why it has quad exhausts but only 2 seem to have an airflow.
Who is Jim and what did he modify on this Camaro? How does this car differ from bone stock?
No idea why car manufacturers don't understand not everyone lives in Florida or some where hot. Offer awd ad an option. U will sell more cars
Which one is the best mode
I want to buy a 2SS as a daily driver. Any input? A lot of people say yes, but a lot of people say no due to snow and stuff. Is this car really that delicate that you can only drive it in the summer?
It’s only because it’s rear wheel drive, the back tires work and it’s not really ideal for snow, I would say if you get snow EVERY year and it stays like a week or longer it’s not worth it, NYC hasn’t had snow in years so I debate each time but tbh if it’s your dream car I would say test drive it
Auto and snow tires helps you more than anything. Try a 1LE on the Goodyear Supercar F1s when it's wet outside, let alone snow.
What’s the exhaust setup? Sounds good!
not bad i drive a charger hellcat here too, snow tires make it soo easy to drive. Last winter was the worst snow wise in years and i had no problem. I don't know about the camero but the hellcat has valet mode which limits it to 300hp and it is better then most front wheel drive cars
Just picked up a 2016 2SS a couple of weeks ago its driving me crazy that I cant take it out and see what it really can do. What part of Michigan are you in? Im around the Ann Arbor area
That’s gonna be awesome man! I’m from Oakland county!
2012 5th gen convertible. Hasn't seen snow since I've had it.
hey bro i just got 2ss and live in Lucifer winter weather here in Toronto. I have 17inch Blizzaks from my 17 v6 camaro will those fit in this car ?
This video helps so much because I’m in Chicago wondering should I get one, people have been saying no because of the winter but you are right up the street and car seem to work okay thanks for this video 🙏🏿🤝
Did you ever get the Camaro?
@@kennychinnam9841 still trying pushing towards it but for sure it’s my next vehicle I don’t want nothing else
A Challenger GT is AWD. Works great in the snow and has over 300 horse. 👍🏻
Grizz Meister also slow as shit
@@airwick2k915 in comparison to what?
Does the car stay in that mode on a startup cycle? Or does it default to something else?
So, how does it handle on the streets, with the snow?
Looks like you have strobes on your leds. Got any info on them? 17 ss midnight gray.
Haha it does look that way, however that’s just my low quality iPhone camera
I live in Illinois drive a 2016 ss manual with summer tires and this past winter was really interesting to say the least. Not my smartest decision.
Thanks for the video, very helpful!!
Cool video which winter tires are you using?
Thanks! I use Blizzaks
Yo dude I've seen you at my gym lol. Nice car!
Thanks bro!
I love the camaro. Nice video too.
Thank you!
The camera man is cold asf
He was listening to Walk thru hoodrich Pablo Juan 🔥🔥
great job bro. zl1 is my next ride man. you sold me, i live in ny. brutal winters dude
New York? Brutal winters? Those two don't really belong in the same sentence, come to Canada and see how you are feeling about your winters lol.
@@griffintaylor3861 He didn't say what part of New York. He could live upstate.
What part of Michigan are you in? Almost want to say your plate looks familiar.
Ouuuuuu that cold start though! 💪🏾🤙🏾
Shes a beast!
The true snow/ice mode, WINTER TIRES. end of line
This is clean. . .Great color combination & review. . .
Thank you I appreciate it
Just drove my camaro through the worst snow in a while. It almost got stuck 4 times in snow and ice mode. Switched it to sport mode and burned a bit of rubber lmfaooo. Needless to say, I got home haha
