  • I compare the Challenger Scatpack to the Camaro SS and the Mustang GT and give you my thoughts on some of the drawbacks of each car. While each has it's merits, there are some drawbacks to each model, which can be very important when trying to decide which one to buy. Which of these cars is the best fit for you? I love them all and you can’t go wrong with any of them. Anyone who claims any of the three sucks is a fanboy or a hater. I went with the mustang because it’s a very nice balance between comfort, handling and retro. Obviously for the best chassis the Camaro wins and for the most comfortable and retro challenger is the move (and would be my number 2 pick for sure!)

Nice video, The reason why the Mustang feels unstable and can get sideways quick is all the rubber bushings in the Rear Sub-frame and IRS components. They just squish and deflect and were designed for comfrot. Get a BMR lock out kit and it will feel like a totally different car. Made a huge difference on my 15 GT. Along with lowering springs and wider wheels and tires.

Just something to recognize in cars that I dont think people understand is that having a sunroof in your car actually lowers the headliner a bit, giving you less headroom, as it needs to have room for the mechanism and rails.

The 2024 Mustang GT still has the MT-82. And there isn't anything wrong with it. I have one, and I've known many people with them - flawless function, no reliability issues, etc. The only people complaining are idiots on the internet who don't tell you that they also add a blower to the car & don't strengthen the transmission, then complain when it breaks.

Plus I live in Albuquerque, home of Hellion Turbo packages for mustangs so if I ever decided to make it a monster for around $12 grand, that could be an option. I just added a Throttle body spacer and cosmetics and it’s perfect. The fact that it’s so easy to mod Mustangs is what makes them great to me. Im glad I never let the visibility concerns keep me from buying my 21' SS. Im pretty risk averse person, so I was definitely worried about the reputation, but even at 6 feet tall the visibility was never even a problem on the test drive. It definitely is different, especially when going back and forth between it and my other car, but its not really a problem as long as you have good mirror placement.

I was looking at the three of these cars last September and I ended up buying the Camaro. I felt the driving experience was, by far, better in the Camaro than the Mustang and the Challenger for what I want to do. Take that with a grain of salt; everyone has their own driving preferences. I like fast, twisty roads and the Challenger felt like a boat and the Mustang felt a little too slippery in the rear for my comfort. The visibility and ergonomics are something you get used to pretty quickly, in my experience. The only thing that I can agree on is the rear seats, close to useless outside of anyone taller than five feet. It is a tight fit, too, so if you are a larger person, this is not the platform for you.

I’ve had all 3 as new-ish rental cars (Ecoboost Mustang, R/T Challenger, and not sure trim on the Camaro) for a 4 hour commute to pick up an airplane from maintenance. The Camaro was my least favorite by far due to the seat position and blind spot. The Challenger felt the most planted and fun for a muscle car experience and the bolsters dug into my sides on the long drive. The Mustang was exceptional in terms of driver experience, comfortable seat, great infotainment system, and just overall the best car in my opinion. Now, I know they weren’t V8s but extrapolating from my experience I would go with the Mustang.

Blind spots were virtually nil in comparison to the other two. Granted, I suppose you could get used to it in the Camaro and Challenger, but it's such a drastic difference that I couldn't justify getting anything else when I could get 9/10's of the performance and be able to see everything in the ford.
But then I remembered that I already own an '89 Camaro, giggled to myself a little bit, and let it go.

I think the Mustang still gets my vote. I had a Camaro and loved it, except the visibility was terrible. The Challenger is really cool, and I love Chevy's (great power and puts it to the ground really well) but there is just something about the Mustang. I have driven my dad's quite a bit and It is just more liveable safer feeling option over the Camaro, so I will be shopping for one this summer. I know the Mustang can get a little squirrelly under hard acceleration, but I don't drive in way that will cause that to be a concern. Also, I love the Mustang look. It has really grown on me over the past few years. The others are good, but the Mustang is my fav.

You're so right with the tires, if I had any of these I would put 305 at least on all corners because it's just unthinkable to put less than that on a car that can spin the wheels so easily, especially the Challenger because as you've shown and we've seen before, even on third gear or at 60+ mph you can still lose traction if you so wanted. Also I mean this cars are made for fun, they got the power, they got their own quirks with the way the drive but what they all have in common is fun. You might think thin tires might be more fun because you can break traction easily but if we're being honest 305 tires don't prevent that, even 315 I think it is won't prevent it at all, it's just so you have to be aware you're doing it every time and won't spin around by accident because you pressed the gas 0.2% more than what you though lol

Thanks for calling out the interior size difference. After a great performance at a track day with my Scat, I had several people tell me well I'd do in a lighter car. (Duh) But at a broad 6'5", there are very few options, especially once you add a helmet. Also, the Challenger lacking a B pillar can help with side visibility (and shoulder room) when the seat's all the way back.

Unfortunately, my wife just recently got a 2023 Explorer Timberline for the practical family car instead. By the time I’m able to get a new car any Dodge V8’s will be long gone. My only issue with the Mustang is I desire to have a pushrod set up with a cam for the chops! Mustang GT is the easy choice. With good performance tires and gearing if your wanting to reduce your 60' time. The Coyote is a easy and great engine to modify and even in stock form has a strong top end. The 10 speed automatic makes up around 90% of Mustang sales plus is quicker at making quarter mile passes. The new S650 GT and Dark Horse with the new Gen 4 Coyote and modified suspension should be a great sports car for both straight line passes or track days

The only reason your 60foot is up so high is 2 fold, first your twin turbo set up takes a while to spool, next your stall on the converter is hampering your launch. I have seen numerous gen 3 Mustangs launch and hit 60ft in 1.3 or 1.4 on drag pack but power adder was a positive displacement supercharger. The positive displacement supercharger is king with 10R80 mustangs for fast launches. Just my thoughts.
