Mustang, Camaro, or Challenger - Which is the best base muscle car?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 15 май 2024
- I take a hard look at the Camaro 1LT, the Ford Mustang EcoBoost, and the Dodge Challenger GT and compare features, mechanical specs, and how they drive. While these cars have the essentially the base level engine offered by the manufacturer, they are by far the most popular trims of their respective lineups. Which one would you rather have?

it's just like saying "bulbasaur, squirtle or charmander" it's up to taste..
Lame joke from RAN bro everything was fine.. but in the end you took big shit
@ALSO-RAN ! that fits. Mustangs are always on fire when they run into pedestrians and the challenger is already a boat. 🤣
Not the gt or rt
Fact. Dodge has always been Charmander 🔥
ALSO-RAN ! Bulbasaur is the best starter to use throughout the game 😂. And charmander is the weakest to use
The challenger can keep this same design for 500yrs and i will never complain. I think they hit the nail on the head with mixing modern and classic.
Agreed. They should focus on more tech or interior for future models but leave that look with a few tweaks!
I agree 100% with you. It stands out of the three. It is the only one that really looks like a muscle car. For me it is the ultimate muscle car. I really like all 3 of them. But the mustang and the camaro look less like muscle cars with their new looks. I think that the challenger looks much better.
I was at work thinking. What if the mustang goes back to their older large model? Like a updated version of the 1967 .. 🚗 Might be something. Add a awd ? Nice
Totally agree...I've been a ford mustang Cobra Shelby guy forever, but the Dobge Challenger made me jump ship with the retro look...keep the look but continue to improve the indoor tech. Just an awesome Dude looking car. Never been a Chevy Camaro guy...always wished for the return of the Thunderbird but that's not gonna happen. Unfortunately, the mustang just doesn't have that nestalgia sticker on it Dodge definitely does reminds me when I was like 6...
Umm, you know nothing about cars? 😂😆 jk
Based on looks, I’d choose the Challenger. They all were muscles cars when they were first made but the Mustang became a sports car, the Camaro became your average car you see everywhere, but the Challenger hasn’t really changed at all, that’s why I like it.
That’s a dumass analogy

A Camry is also a comfortable and good looking car...

Having driven them all, I personally feel the ecoboost is the best of the 3. However, they're all super super similar and just comes down to preference. The challenger is definitely the fat slow kid of the group, but still fun to drive with a good power band.
@345gang it feels quicker, lighter, I love the interior and exterior design of the new mustangs. To me the car just handles fantastic and is feels like it pulls hard. However I will say the top end sucks. Also to note I love them all and wouldn't mind driving any of them, the mustang is just my preference. This day and time, it's purely personal preference since their performance is all so similar
@@VermillionRacing The top end is better in the high performance eco boost. LOVE it! That plus the individualized damping system on the wheels, magnaglide makes it feel like a luxury car OR a sports car depending upon which mode you put it in. That’s my experience anyways :)
@@NanceDrew it's interesting because I hear so many different opinions on it. Like to me it feels like it falls off way up top, but has a good mid. I guess it also had factors that go into it, but it is interesting seeing the different perspectives on how it feels. I'm really excited to drive the performance pack version
I’m getting my first car next month and I’m trying to figure out which one of these 3 I want, thing is for the Camaro I would get the in-line if I chose the Camaro but the challenger I would get that v6 but idk what would you recommend
@@coachtreyston if you're looking between the camaro and challenger, I'd go camaro. But you also gotta think about practicality to a certain degree. The challenger is MUCH much bigger on the inside, has good storage, but is slower because of its weight. The camaro is tiny in the interior and has little storage. The interiors are both wonderful, but I feel the camaro Is just ever so slightly better in its feel and design. Now personally between them all, I'd go with the mustang. Its the in between of the camaro and challenger, it's the fastest of the 3 usually (comparing to the 4cyl camaro), has the medium sized interior, a large trunk, and usable back seats. So it's the middle ground of the other two. Also to note, the camaro and mustang handle a lot better than the challenger.
I like all three, but the mustang is my favorite.
They’re all nice, but Challenger will always be my favorite
Old school for the win 👍

@@willkaufman8208 yes I would say that too. Mainly I was saying if you are willing to either put up that type of cash or get a loan and be making payments on something why would you get the crappy v6 girl version LOL if you were in the market for one of these cars and couldn't afford the good model off the showroom floor I would rather get a clean used one for less money then buy a new v6 and get laughed at
@@thomasburr9244 agreed
Having driven all 3 of these while I worked at a Chevy dealership, the Mustang takes it for me. It’s got good power with a smooth drive. The challenger also has good power and it makes you feel like your fast. The Camaro is fine, but it doesn’t become something special until you start to look at the SS
I just drove these 3 the mustang and challenger are neck and neck I didn't like the camaro
Any idea which is the most reliable , least maintenance,? If all were driven the same?
@@Scallywag94 it really does depend on how you’re driving them. I’d you’re just daily driving them like a normal human being, each can be a good pick that would just come down to preference. I do know that with all 3 of them, when something breaks it ain’t gonna be cheap so you do have to be careful. The Mustang in the past has had transmission issues so I’d look out for that. The Camaros have minor things like the paint on the interior chipping and the window tint peeling. I didn’t drive the chargers or challengers all that much, but from what I’ve heard from friends they’re really good and don’t break all that easy. In fact none of them do. My personal pick would be a Mustang, cause as long as you’re not driving it like a race car everyday, it should treat you just fine

Very true Charles 👍

Looks like you get better options with the Mustang 💁🏾♂️
The mustang eco boost is honestly such a nice vehicle. Super speedy and is just a nice vehicle overall.
I shopped for a muscle car this year, compared the camaro, mustang and challenger and they all offer pros and cons. I feel you get the most engine and options for your money with the mustang, the challenger is in the middle and the camaro went up in price very quickly with trim and options. I bought the 2020 Challenger RT for 33k, not fully loaded but i got the color and options i did want, passed up a similarly set up mustang for 32k, and the camaro was up near 40k with similar bells and whistles.

Glad to see someone covering the base model options. I am shopping for what will probably be my last car, and planning to pay cash so every dime counts. Initially, I approached the situation with the idea in mind that I was going to buy a V8 or nothing as I have always driven V8 powered cars. My current car is an 04 Mustang GT with the 2V 4.6L.
Apparently, I’ve been out of the loop for too long because I had no idea that these newer V6 powered cars were putting down the kinds of numbers that they are. A V6 putting down 300+ horsepower is amazing to me. Perhaps to a lot of younger folks these cars aren’t impressive, but to me they are plenty powerful enough for anything I would intend to use them for.
There is a fair to moderate chance that I may go with a slightly older SS or GT just so that I don’t miss the sound of the V8 engine. I definitely want to drive at least the V6 Camaro before I spend my money though. If it runs at least as hard as my current car, I’ll be a buyer.

I have a 2023 mustang ecoboost and i love how it drives, its fast when i need to, never failed me. Im not into muscle car because im a girl, i just wanted to buy a sedan to drive to work but the mustang spoke to me the moment i saw it.
Awesome video! I have 2 out of 3! A Camaro v6 and a challenger v6. Luv both!
Loved the vid! You should go another comparison with the base V8 model of each
Love all of them💪🏾✌🏾
They are all great in their own right 👍
Agree..
same
The base Mustang with the turbo 4 cylinder reminds of the SVO Mustang from the 80's. The SVO was super sharp but it needed an additional 100 horsepower to make it stand out. Sadly it died on the vine. Now it's spiritual successor is here and it's the real deal.
I'm happy with my 2020 HPP Mustang, it's comfortable, drove it to Florida from CT and got decent mileage even though I didn't baby it...it scoots with over 100 HP more than my 90 5.0 and more torque. It's definitely no slouch...it's better than my old SVO & 5.0. Do I miss the V8 sound, sure I do...but this car is a blast
Excellent content! Your range of evaluations is on point! I couldn’t help but snatch up a 392 Scat Pack Challenger from someone who really did some great cosmetic work. Love it! Overall, I think Dodge did really well in making the engine bay look very clean.
Absolutely.. hope your loving that Scatpack 👍
Love your channel! Show all levels of all muscle cars, not just isolating performance!!
Thank you Jadon.. much appreciated

Wow... A really great unbiased review of all 3 cars. 👍 😎
Not a muscle car without a v8
The Challenger is the quintessential muscle car. The gap between the three isn't huge at the base models but when you start to get into hellcats and demons there is no competition for the challenger.
The Challenger and Charger are based on the Mercedes S class chassis which was very good but very heavy. They also inherited the IRS rear. I've never ridden in either but with correct valving and damping, they should be very nice cars to ride in.
All three are great looking, I did notice something though. Did you travel the same route with all three? While watching the test drives, the Challenger looked like it was vibrating enough to cause a slight blur, the Camaro looked like a harsher ride while the Mustang was pretty smooth. Great info, thank you.
Great comparison!! The deep drive into each model is awesome. All three make great daily drivers
Thank you Chris 👍
Very good review. I would like to see the same thing, but with the low-end V8s. (R/T, etc.)
I like all three, but the Challenger is my favorite. I owned a Mustang back in early 2000’s and really enjoyed it. Have owned a Challenger R/T since 2014, and it still brings a smile to my face. I sometimes stare at it because it’s so beautiful. Never did that with my Mustang.
Dude this review is amazing. Just what I wanted to see when I clicked your video. I was leaning toward the challenger 90 percent of the way but I would definitely say the mustang has a better interior. Thanks for you information like seriously awesome review. But I would rate it a 9/10 only because I would have liked to listen to the radio and see how each one plays out. I’m a big music fan so stereo is a huge deciding factor. Anyways still an amazing video ❤️
Another excellent example why I subscribe. Thank you for being respectful and excited for all the base offerings from the big three in this segment and thoughtfully reviewing their strengths. Although I am a 5G Camaro SS fan, I like all kinds of performance cars, and like to see what’s out there. Great to see your content on the STI and other models, whether it be a Mopar offering or something different!
Much appreciated Kevin 🤜🔥🔥
Great review! The Mustang and Camero’s actually keep up with some V8 cars. Unfortunately the Dodge with more weight and less horsepower isn’t quite there in terms of performance. But they still have the old muscle car look.
the challengers are all close to 4200-4500lb. thats insane. my pickup is 4400lb lol also they cant really turn that well. pretty much just like a new old school muscle car plus a bunch of weight, 69 camaro 427, 3000 lb. 69 mustang bos 429...3200 ....69 challenger 440 3800+
@@joefries365 Since it was based off of the old E-class platform, which is a big car, not that nimble, which probably helps you make it the most comfortable of the three, and a nicer daily. driver,
I'm assuming you're referring to only the SXT or GT variants, since Dodge categorically produces the fastest available muscle cars.
As camaro and challenger owner the 2018 v6 challenger sxt plus 305hp feels way more powerful and lighter than a 2018 1lt v6 camaro with 335 hp. That's why I got rid of my camaro since it's the slowest car compare other v6 cars even with 30 extra hp. I even got gapped by some 4cylinders cars a few time with that shitty camo🤣🤣😅
@@sambrainard3487im assuming your referring to the brochure numbers cause Mustangs and Camaros own mopar
Great video man
Am a huge fan of Mustangs 😍💪🏼
Challenger has that classic 60s 70s muscle look and thats what i love about it
This is insane, i had to do a speech for college comparing three items and i chose the 2020 base model mustang, camaro, and challenger, we had to upload a video of our speech and i sat in my car for the speech, a 2014 mustang, i made my speech like 3 weeks ago but just videoed it today, of course my teacher doesnt know anything about cars so i got to bs some of it to get it over with, but its in unlisted mode on my channel😂😂just a weird coincidence i came across this randomly today
