My opinion: Mustang if you are looking for an entry-level sports car. Charger if you are looking for a comfortable daily and care about a backseat at all.
I feel like the mustang eco is a good daily driver but for obvious reasons the charger would be better if you need a back seat and the convenience of having 4doors. My sister has to put a car seat in a mustang. Lol
For anyone wondering, Challenger is also a really good option if the Charger isn’t convincing you a whole lot. I drive a v6 SXT and it’s pretty good! For the good mileage, classic muscle styling and comfortable interior, it’s pretty great. It drives smoothly, really there isn’t much a difference between both Charger and Challenger other than the space inside. Overall a good daily driver, and I’ve been pretty pleased with what I’ve got. My 2018 ecoboost on sports+ mode on the highway is a dream to drive, im not racing anybody but this thing is pure excitement and in the future it'll be easy to throw a bigger turbo and smaller things and be way faster IF i want
I have a 2020 charger RT and I’ve been spanked by several ecoboost Mustangs I’ve beaten the 2015 and 2017 mustang ecoboost but the 2018 and up have more torque and a 10 speed transmission and those are pretty fast they must have a performance tune or something cause they beat me by like 2 or 3 cars from a dig forget it they totally smoke me it’s incredible how much torque those little 4 bangers have I give them respect.
The charger is absolutely more comfortable and has a bigger gas tank. It is probably the better daily. The mustang is a great hwy cruiser surprisingly. Took mine to Austin and Houston with the only complaint being the small gas tank and obviously no room for 4 peeps.
Took the v6 charger on a texas road trip, got 29.9 mpg being on the road for 6 hours. Definitely can get up to speed and loved the 4 door option, could fit the whole family.
the tank wasnt too bad. we went to Marfa tx from houston. entire round trip i stopped 2 times after heading out on a full tank. if you set that cruise control i was getting around 32mpg. Me, the girl and a trunk full of stuff. it was nice to cruise in. and the premium w/ digital dash make it all the nicer.

I recently rented a convertible eco-boost 2020 Mustang, 10 speed auto what a terrific car. The sport + mode Turns the car into a beast. Wet/snow mode tames it down tremendously.
Son has an SXT Charger and loves it. Good looking car comfortable ride and good power for a v6. Really like the eco boost mustang too though. Little better response if I’m a car if your don’t need the room of a 4 door.
I think both are too far apart to be comparable. One is more sporty and faster. The other is more practical, daily driver focused (even with the lower fuel economy), and with weather (if AWD is chosen). I think the V6 Challenger would've been a better option to compare each.
I personally gotta choose the V6 charger. I have a 2021 sxt and have only had it a year wirh 10K miles ( I was at basic training then AIT don’t @me) and I gotta say it’s a amazing daily driver. Sure you get crap for a "V6" but really it’s still a car with some pickup and amazing looks🤷♂️ I just don’t exhaust work and got a pedal commander with some cosmetic things with my car and it’s such a fun and good looking car and with gas right now I’m loving it

@@ResonantFreq528 I like it. Got from American Muscle for $500. Did the tune myself as there were few Ford dealers in the Dallas area willing to install the tune. Really good information on both cars. However, your comparing a family car to a sports car. Should have been the challenger and the musting. In my opinion, and its just my opinion, a four door care is a family car no matter how big of an engine is it. Maybe you can do a review on the mustang, challenger, and camero. Top,, of the line for all three. That would be a good review. Yes,, I do understand the camero is supposed to be going away. Thing is Chevy's not always made the best decisions when it comes to stopoing production on cars. They seem to always wait to see who is doing what before they make a move. Anyway, thats another complete story and getting off the subject. But like I said, the review had lots of good information and its appreciated. Cheers Don
Mustang is obviously faster, but with the Charger you can keep it 100% stock and daily it and it'll last you at least 200K miles as long as you take care of it. The Mustang NEEDS an oil catch can or else the valves will get caked in carbon. Inherent problem with GDI engines is they aren't self-cleaning like port injection engines. There's probably a reason why you don't see too many Ecoboost Mustangs with over 100K miles on them.... That's why I went with the 5.0.
Ford service suggests having my ecoboost engines checked for any build-up and cleaned if needed at their first 20,000 miles. I had My Ecoboost Escape Titanium and Edge Sport checked during oil changes at 25,000 miles and found no buildup. The procedure took maybe 20 minutes. It was clean likely from using better gas and 5000 mile or less synthetic oil changes. I'll have them checked again at 50,000 miles. Like all engines, regular maintenance is required. I also own a 2018 Chrysler 300C Hemi. It has some bolt on mods and gets it's full synthetic oil changed every 3000 miles. I only run 89 to 93 octane gas in my 3 vehicles, avoiding 87. My concern with my 5.7 is possibly a camshaft issue later in ownership. With only 22,000 miles. I'm currently not concerned. I've owned previous EcoBoost powered Fords without any issues. Everyone has options, but I find them strong performers and extremely dependable.
My understanding is that, starting in 2018, ford moved to a dual port hybrid design to keep the back of the valves clean. At least I know the 302 and 2.7l Ecoboost have it.
@10:23 Racer X the 93-97 non Ram Air Trans Am made like 285hp 350tq but actually made more like 300hp. The 98-02 non Ram Air Trans Am made about 315hp/350tq but actually about 330hp which is in the ballpark of that new Ecoboost in this video. The Trans Am ran 13’s and weighed about 3400 LBS.. Just wanted to get the facts out there..
Good comparison, but I’ve always preferred Fords so bought the 2020 Mustang Ecoboost premium. I wanted a GT, but at my age (56) the four bang ‘Stang is fine. I think it’s a good daily driver around town and I’ve taken it on a few trips through the Texas hill country. Plenty of power and averaged about 31 MPG. A few years ago I had the Dodge as a rental for about two weeks and really liked it as well. Just have a soft spot for the pony. I’m amazed the mustang is only 100 pounds lighter, when the Charger is so much larger and has two more doors.
I own an ecoboost. I love my car. I will be really excited to eventually to do the built motor on my pony. It’s crazy to think that the people at EMS are getting these 4 cylinders to perform with 800whp. You have to pay to play at that power though! My goals are not so lofty, I’m thinking more of the range of 460whp which will probably run me around 12k to setup reliably.
@@redrum5.0_ He’s not raining on my parade I did months of research before I even bought the car. I want the handling of the ecoboost and the power of the GT. These cars really take modifications really well. The build I will be doing will wipe the floor with a Stock GT and at the same price it would had cost me to buy a GT. Racer Xs GT is a whole other animal! I could easily have the car do 600hp with the build I’m planning. Once you go past 590ft/lbs of torque you have to worry about the transmission since that is what the 10r80 is rated to. You actually have to own a sports car before you can make have a legitimate debate.
The challenger would have been a better comparison but your right as far as the v-6 it's the same in both cars, if your doing a video on a family sadan vs singles then your comparison is spot on but my opinion if your going to have a muscle car it should be a V-8 just saying. Another awesome video RACER-X keep them coming 👍 and as always be safe 👍
actually just went through this, test drove both cars and ended up with the eco boost, im 24, 6'3 single no kids. i wanted the faster car, more options for power upgrades, the 6 speed manual, and frankly i think it looks alot nicer. With that all being said, if i was someone with kids not a chance in hell would i buy the stang the backseats should just be deleted for weight savings, the ride is not as smooth and the audio was slightly nicer in the charger. Charger for the family man, stang for the sports car experience. Yes, the eco boost is alot faster around town than the charger
I disagree completely. My 2017 Challenger RT+P gets great gas mileage with MDS. I'm easily getting 27mpg if I keep my foot out of it. Thankfully, I work 8.5 miles round trip away and any stores/gas stations/restaurants are in-between said route. Even in the off chance I have to drive my fiancee to work it's only an extra 4 miles. Best of all gas prices here are anywhere from $3.89-$4.00gal. That's one of the many reasons I love Florida so much. That and no damn emissions. That will play nice when I punt the cats on the car down the street.

We bought an SXT yesterday. We love it so far. Not that fast but it's better at passing and getting in the interstate then our 2018 Altima was. It's no R/T but we knew that. It's more affordable. It was 12k cheaper. Over all we're happy. There was actually a discount on them vs a mark up above MSRP like some vehicles we looked at.
I heard that the ecoboost requires 93 octane to achieve those numbers, but that you get the numbers out of the Charger with 87 octane. Is that true? And does the charger not call for higher octane. I never even see 93 around me...here super unleaded is 91 and expensive.
I’m debating whether getting a charger or challenger sxt to use as a daily work car. I own an SS so power doesn’t matter to me. Which is more comfortable?
I would say the Mustang, but I am biased. I daily a 2020 GT. For a younger person with a family the Dodge is the stuff. Can't beat 4 doors. My youngest has his own car, so I am done toting kids. Smiles per a gallon.
that charger at 8:48 wanted smoke shoulda gave it to em lmao but thats just me i owned 2 of these babies and drove a charger n challenger vs and hands down the ecoboost is by far better i even have to give the visibility nod to the mustang i never been in a car other than suvs n stuff that i could see more i can weave through traffic like nothing just because i can see so damn good more power only real question between the two is do i have a family that needs 4 seats or i want something a bit more sporty lol but me with no kids i need more sporty but by winter i should be in a fully paid for gt500 and i cant wait
I don’t think anybody just goes out and wants either people just buy them cause they’re on a budget but i don’t think anybody just goes out and wants a v6 charger or eco boost mustang
I see no reason at all for the eco boost mustang. 1 it's not practical, 2 just get a gt if you want a mustang. Even though the challenger is slower, it's the easy choice between the 2. Hell even the challenger v6 is more practical than the eco boost.
The ecoboost is a great commuter car. Good on gas, and fun to drive. I enjoy mine. My previous mustangs were all v8s. I will admit.. the challenger looks better though.
while these cars might be rated HP wise comparably to LS powered fbodies both are getting smacked around by them. i never understood this comparison. but anyway. i never knew these mustangs had that much torque. thats impressive. im curious how a 4 cyl. camaro does against these
The Mustang is classified as a Sports car. The Charger is classified as a two door sedan. I love the Mustang, but I needed a usable backseat so after looking at a Charger RT. I purchased a new 2018 Chrysler 300C Hemi that I added some bolt on mods for some Saturday fun when not having employees riding in the back seats. Having recently test driven a premium HPP Mustang EcoBoost that's powered by a higher performance 330 horsepower 2.3 EcoBoost. The HPP Mustang was quick and handled fantastic from the front end engine weight reduction. Since I'm retiring and no longer need 4 doors. It's in the running for my next car with the upcoming new S650 when Ford announces engine choices and if it's design surpasses the Mustang Mach 1.
The exterior of the charger looks better in this video than the Mustang. Don’t like the rims on the mustang. The interior of the mustang looks a little better to me. If you’re single then you buy the mustang. If you have a family then the Charger is the right choice.
Had the Jeep grand cherokee limited as a loaner for a few weeks, that v6 in sport was a total baby TrackHawk it even wines. I was blowing away everything that moved including that bs mustang lol. Had the sxt charger a few weeks before, no sport mode and the jeep is faster.

Another impressive review, Racer X! ✌✌
I love my ecoboost as a daily driver
I bought a charger v6 for traveling with the family and a daily, but I have my 87 mustang gt with a 351w for my go fast car, just buy both
I would go for SXT because Dodge sticks to 1970s
The Charger looks nothing like the 70s

Unfair review ! base challenger would have been better though outcome would have been the same Plus what was the Dodge price?
Rite now those cars are definitely better to own for gas reasons over the v8 hahaha im in cali 6.29 they trying to brake us
I disagree completely.
@@Sinn0100 ya i drive my car like i stole it so i get 9.8 miles to gallon hahaha and i live in cali and i work 40-50 mins away from home let just say i mite be getting a new job in town hahaha
@@UR_AL_SHOOK_UP_21
Nothing wrong with having fun with your car. I know I drive super chill when I goto work and stuff like that but on the weekends I'm all over it. I hope you land that new job man
@@Sinn0100 ya I definitely need to learn to chill more thanks man hella appreciate it
Charger ❤❤💪💪
We bought an SXT yesterday. We love it so far. Not that fast but it's better at passing and getting in the interstate then our 2018 Altima was. It's no R/T but we knew that. It's more affordable. It was 12k cheaper. Over all we're happy. There was actually a discount on them vs a mark up above MSRP like some vehicles we looked at.
ur tripping it’s definitely fast
I heard that the ecoboost requires 93 octane to achieve those numbers, but that you get the numbers out of the Charger with 87 octane. Is that true? And does the charger not call for higher octane. I never even see 93 around me...here super unleaded is 91 and expensive.
What about the maintenance? Which is cheaper to maintain?
How is the gas mileage between the cars.
Love it. Next time try the Camaro 4 cylinder turbo
Mustang 🐎🐎🐎🐎🔥
I raced a 2018 ecoboost in my tuned 2014 sxt an smoked it don’t believe the hype
I like this content!
I’m only thinking about this from a racing perspective ….. mustang all day lol
Charger better dd anyday much more roomy and comfy
Is a 2017 ecoboost mustang 37k miles for $27k worth it?(from used dealership)
Add a tune and some basic bolt-ons and the EcoBoost is a proven performer. Step up to the NX2 & you're holding your own with 5.0s
I haven't even watched this video yet but the ecoboost tuned can outrun v8 sports cars.
Facts , before I got my GT I was considering a big turbo for my ecoboost
Yepp I’ve seen tuned eco boost beat or hang with 5.7 hemis
@@LEGO.SC.MOD1FIER at the end of the day you're still driving home a 4-banger though lul
Would it help if I put a cold air intake in it?
I’m debating whether getting a charger or challenger sxt to use as a daily work car. I own an SS so power doesn’t matter to me. Which is more comfortable?
It’s essentially the same thing but from a charger owner the charger would be more convenient imo
Mustang because tuning potential
Ill take the charger, those turbos blow up to fast.
Vinmango B
They do?
They blow up if you abuse it! I've seen 150k with no issues on many.
I would say the Mustang, but I am biased. I daily a 2020 GT. For a younger person with a family the Dodge is the stuff. Can't beat 4 doors. My youngest has his own car, so I am done toting kids. Smiles per a gallon.
A 71 4 Barrel Challenger 340 only had 280 HP
I hate the front bumper on those sxts, should’ve just made the scatpack bumper the default bumper
u can get that with GT model. my homie has one
@@armanjan848 yeah If I wanted a v6 charger I’d definitely get the gt. V8s the only way to go tho lol
Peep the dude in the 08 charger when x passed him😂
11-14 charger were the best body style years
Agree. That’s what made me want one in the first place and I eventually got around one in 2020
That’s great! Enjoy the ride. Similar story with me, I purchased a 2012 blackberry pearl charger last year.
Hard disagree
that charger at 8:48 wanted smoke shoulda gave it to em lmao but thats just me i owned 2 of these babies and drove a charger n challenger vs and hands down the ecoboost is by far better i even have to give the visibility nod to the mustang i never been in a car other than suvs n stuff that i could see more i can weave through traffic like nothing just because i can see so damn good more power only real question between the two is do i have a family that needs 4 seats or i want something a bit more sporty lol but me with no kids i need more sporty but by winter i should be in a fully paid for gt500 and i cant wait
The SXT ralle is a better trim.
I don’t think anybody just goes out and wants either people just buy them cause they’re on a budget but i don’t think anybody just goes out and wants a v6 charger or eco boost mustang
this makes no sense. Both cars are expensive.
didn’t know 2 30k cars were seen as being on a budget
add a pedal box to the v6 and it’s just as fast
hey racer x do you recommend a mid muffler delete or straight pipe for a scatpack?
@Zach Check out "Exhaust Addicts" on YT they got plenty of set-up styles on their page daily
It's all about that gas milage tho
Nice video i subed!! I have videos of jesko!!
Unless you have the need for the big land yacht, ecoboost all day.
Eco boost do be better
I had a 2014 eco boost charger loved it💯
Not really apples to apples, since they appeal to different demographics.
I see no reason at all for the eco boost mustang. 1 it's not practical, 2 just get a gt if you want a mustang. Even though the challenger is slower, it's the easy choice between the 2. Hell even the challenger v6 is more practical than the eco boost.
that's subjective.. If you aren't carting around a bunch of kids, the mustang is just as practical. Just depends on your life style.
The ecoboost is a great commuter car. Good on gas, and fun to drive. I enjoy mine. My previous mustangs were all v8s. I will admit.. the challenger looks better though.
The charger is better
It's not faster dude!
@@will4.0ofthethrone9 so what
600+ on a v6 challenger no warranty vs Ecoboost 593 a month with warranty bye bye mopar
while these cars might be rated HP wise comparably to LS powered fbodies both are getting smacked around by them. i never understood this comparison. but anyway. i never knew these mustangs had that much torque. thats impressive. im curious how a 4 cyl. camaro does against these
if youre going to have a slow car it might as well be big, comfortable and ride like a dream.
it’s not slow dumb ahh 300 hp ain’t slow
Mustangs are just too small
Ecoboost always has some recall don't buy that car 🤥
SXT CHARGERS ARE SO TRASH , better getting a Toyota Camry or Honda Civic if it’s for a family sedan 🚘
sounds like ur mad you can’t afford a charger
V8 all the way brother
V8 wasn’t even mentioned in the video all you dudes care about is the engine smh
The exterior of the charger looks better in this video than the Mustang. Don’t like the rims on the mustang. The interior of the mustang looks a little better to me. If you’re single then you buy the mustang. If you have a family then the Charger is the right choice.
valid point my friend
The optional rims on the HPP Premium EcoBoost are fantastic looking. Birds nest style with performance rubber
None of theme
SXT challenger has 305 hp 13 more hp than the charger 305 sounds better than 292 Lol
If you're hauling kids around ; Charger, if not, neither.
How you get a muscle car with no muscle lol. My Honda Civic is just as fast a these lmao but I get 35 mpg
