I own this knife and it's big brother, the Super Freak. This knife is very expensive for what it is. I will say it has some of the best feeling carbon fiber scales I have experienced and has a great feel in my hand. It is a great cutter and is nice to carry. It is a very good knife and as with all Benchmade knives you are paying for the materials and rock solid warranty. I think it's big brother, the Super Freak is awesome and one of my favorite knives. I really like this knife and will definitely keep it. If you are into Benchmade knives and looking for a smaller EDC that has good ergonomics and great materials this may be for you. If you are looking for value alone, the 565-1 is not your knife.

I have a rather large Benchmade collection for main reason that it is so ambidextrous for us 10% of the population left handers. Seriously, there are not many premium knives that offer models for southpaws with the exception of Chris Reeves. You can also get a Spyderco PM2 in a left handed model, but only in the standard model. I really appreciate that Benchmade allows the user to mount their pocket clip on either side of most models. You can also reverse the pivot so the torx head is on whichever side the user considers the presentation side. Every left handed knife enthusiast should support Benchmade whenever you can. On a side note, if you want to customize your Bugout, 940, or Bailout, Rockscale Designs make some awesome titanium scales the can have mounting holes added for left handed carry at the owners request. Sorry for the left handed rant because I’m definitely on the right when it comes to everything else.

Love the size of this as an everyday carry.
I think if you have a 2 inch blade on u, that’s more than enough to do every average edc task we throw at it. So this at 3 inches with a 4.05 inch handle is perfectly capable but convenient to carry cause of its size/weight profile.
I appreciate your videos a lot. Being fairly new to the hobby....I’ve learned a lot from each one of your videos.

Did something change in knives that made lanyards less necessary, or is it that they were never necessary but were just a trend that has since faded? I never wanted them myself, and while I understand that it helps some people pull them from their pocket or hold a shorter one a bit better, I never needed that or wanted a lanyard hanging out. Just curious when you talk about no one using lanyards anymore, how recent a change that is and why it is.

I just got mine, put it to work as I packed and unpackaged 56 boxes (moving to another town). I just put it aside and grabbed my leatherman again. This mini freek is a disappointment in terms of factory sharpening. Yes, by box 30, my leatherman edge wore off, so I went to minifreek again, which it did hold on longer but not as sharp as I though it would be from factory. Any way, can’t wait to sharpen it my self and see its performance.
The minifreek ergonomics is awesome though.

I never saw the big deal with the Benchmade knives until I bought one then two then three etc... However I can honestly say the knife company Tops also made in the U.S.A is a fantastic knife. I carry the Tops Cat with me when I go outside in the night. I live in a ghetto that's not that bad but just in case my Tops I sincerely trust with my life! The only criticism about my Tops is honestly the sheath. It locks the knife in perfectly but has messed up a lot of my belts so I tuck it inside my belt. The Tops model Cat is not too big and it is built for a regular sized hand but this is one hell of a knife! The price of the Cat is reasonable so check them out you won't be let down.

I know I am once again really late to view this. I wanted to add something that may explain the reason for the lanyard hole. We who work in rescue situations especially when we are part of a medevac team and we are transporting casualties a knife that falls loose can be a hazard to everyone on board. So I wanted to add that Benchmade who works with many different individuals try to cover all their needs. So for us we have to carry on a lanyard. To the rest of you a pocket clip is just fine.

What I mean is you can purchase a knife like Kizers Assassin and have a much smoother as well as quicker deployment for the asking price of I believe around $60.00?
Granted when I was serving phosphor bronze makes so much more sense in Dirty environments.
But setting aside those type of conditions doesn't it make more sense to go with something with bearings?

I reread this. The reason I say the price is high is because there are plenty of US competitors using similar materials foe substantially less. I know good and well the materials aren't the only things dictating the price, but all things considered, equally high quality knives are being made here in the US with the exact same materials for less money. This knife is overpriced.
