    I made an M4 with jade G10 Griptilian in the custom shop. Yes it was pricy, but it’s amazing. It only took a week, week and a half tops to get it too. I have beat the crap out of it since I got it and I love it. You won’t regret it. Do it!

    Can't really go wrong with either. I just recently got some custom Deathgrip scales for my Grip in burlap micarta/orange G10 and it totally changes the feel of the knife. Yeah, you will pay more for a customized Grip over a Super Freek but having a customized knife is worth a little extra IMO. Good comparison.

    I own a m390 griptillian with the carbon fiber scales, my favorite knife hands down, also own a valet in m390 and the old school griptillian. I've carried spiderco, fox, kabar, and higher end buck knives (s30v) I always come back to my benchmade

    I would say Griptilian! Like the blade shape look on the super freak but functionally it wouldn’t be as useful or easy to sharpen. Also love the super freak handle colors. Agreed a grey coated blade would be nice. But Griptilian has more customizable options, and more utilitarian blade shapes. And just comes in way more options.
    Funny, thumb studs never got in my way. Also who’s cutting all this cardboard all knife reviewers are talking about. Blade distance from hand means nothing to me. If your precision cutting I would hold the blade itself from the top like a chefs or pairing knife. That is why I find choils kinda silly waste of space that things just get caught on. Awkward to hold when used for precision cuts as well.
    Had two omega spring break but usually takes 5 years or so. But I know people who have had them way longer with no problems.
    Also the handle material thing. Everyone seems to hate plastic handles on both Benchmade and Spyderco, but love g10, micarta and Carbon fiber. All are fibers set in plastic resin. So why pay more for a different plastic? Esthetics maybe? Grip never had a problem. I would say weight but I’ve never had a pocket knife that was too heavy. Never worried about weight like most. Maybe you need to wear pants that fit or get a belt jk lol.
    Another thing is I never got a Benchmade that has bad factory edge or not centered correctly. I’m on #6 not a whole lot but I see those complains a lot. That’s my 2 cents

    I have both and they are both keepers. The SF seems slightly better built for the long haul, but both will do anything I need them to.

    Metal complex , what slimline tactical pen do you recommend? For a small female with smaller hands? ( preferably with inexpensive an easy to find ink cartridges.)

  • @louieb5182

    Would you prefer the standard freek over the standard grip? Especially in terms of the handle scales. While the freek is made of that versaflex material, it has way shorter liners compared to the grip. Which handle scale do you think is more sturdy and less likely to flex more?

    I love my super freek, but I was so disappointed with the edge grind. I expect a $190 knife to come at least as sharp as a $20 ganzo. I've bought 2 benchmades and both hade edges that needed sharpening in order to be useable.

    The Mini Freek is one of my favorite knives, and I'd really like to have the Super Freek. But tbh I'd probably never carry it, not just because of it's size but mainly because it looks like a fancy murderweapon😯 I wish they'd make it with some natural-looking Micarta scales and a stonewashed or satin finish on the blade😑

    For me, I was a bit surprised by how short that internal “chassis” is in the freak vs the Griptilian… once you get under the hood it’s quite obvious… my limited understanding would lead me to believe the grip is a bit more strong overall…

    All black with metallic green accents .. I’d be all in . Unless it was over 300. I’m not quite there and I’m pretty good at ignoring impulse itches.😂 I finally pulled the trigger on a spyderco Manix 2 .( waiting on it in the mail.)

    You know, they need to make a Grip with g10 but still s30v and kinda split the price difference between the frn one and the 20cv one. I don't mind s30v at all, but the standard grip's grip feels cheap for a knife over 100 bucks.

  • @erickarp308
    @erickarp308 4 года назад +3

    I recently went to Benchmade’s factory store to compare them. I settled for the Griptilian in CPM 20CV as I need stainless steel on my blade. I also got the thumb hole instead of the thumb stud so I don’t have the stud getting in the way of my cuts like you discussed. If the Superfreek was given extra options in the custom shop, it would have been the winner. Not yet though. Grip is still king.

    I had a Super Freek but I let it go because of the negative press surrounding the axis lock. Was that a mistake? I wish they would build every axis lock like the one in the Anthem. I also saw a video in which the knife had to be sharpened many, many times before the edge performed like true M4. I almost love this knife.

  • @robertm8401
    @robertm8401 4 года назад +1

    Logically the Superfreek wins, but my brain tells me I'd pick the Custom Shop Griptilian with CPM M4, deep carry BugOut style clip and G10 scales, everything in black. BM quotes $230 for it and I'd be happy to pay that for a knife that came from their factory that way, I'd carry that everyday 😊

  • @progunliberal
    @progunliberal 3 года назад +1

    Yup, super freek IS better. Same edge retention, but tough, handle being just a tab longer gives a substantial grip area... The griptilian is dead, long live the Super Freek! Now, if they'd make a freek with the sheepsfoot and opening hole....
