Both knives are great. I owed the PM2 but now love the PM3 more than the BM Mini Grip. I've owned a lot of Benchmade knives; however I am shying away from them after a couple bad customer service experiences and their unwillingness to address a concern. Spyderco is always tight. My two cents.
The mini Grip was my first knife over $35. Maybe the full size would have been better, but I actually love the size of the mini grip cuz I can carry it on campus. Carry it everyday!
Here's the deal , the new Griptilian with a s30v steel blade is $110.00 on Amazon and a Paramilitary 2 with an s30v blade is $151.00 on Amazon , but now you have to buy a deep carry clip because the stock clip on the Para 2 sucks ,so that's an additional $25.00 - $35.00 which now brings the Para 2's price to around $176.00 + compared to the Grip's $110.00 . It's up to you . Me personally , as a collector , I own 2 Paramilitary 2's and 3 Griptilian's. Very nice comparison (and collection) sir! While I love the Spyderco Persistence, I also find the HARNDS Maverick (D2) a very solid, robust EDC. Also interested in the Hogue Exemplar. Any thoughts on that one? I've heard that the Hogue "ABLE" lock is a variation on the Benchmade "AXIS" lock, but have no experience with either. Thanks again!
I've got the 154CM Mini Grip and S30V Mini Ritter Grip, both with custom scales from "Igorded". Google him if you're interested. I've also got the PM2 and a Para3. The regular Mini Grip is my most used out of that bunch, along with several others that I EDC more. My favorite Benchmade is the 707 Sequel though. Too bad they discontinued it. At last count I had about 110 folders and fixed blades, about 20-25 of which are Spydies.
I avoided Spyderco for ages, everything is inflated in the UK and even cheap models like the tenacious and resilience were going for £87 on Heinnie Haynes and similar prices everywhere else, I think you can all agree that £87 is an absurd price for an 8cr13 liner lock. They have them on Amazon UK now tho for their normal price and I got them about 4 months ago and love them, the resilience hasn’t left my pocket and I’m going to be getting the para 2 in s45 very soon. The ergonomics of the handle is way better now & the blade steel is now Cruwear which is fantastic! Truthfully I’ve been wanting to get the new version of the Adamas in both Full Size & Smaller sized version. Seems like it would be a great addition with my PM2’s. benchmade's painted pocket clip that chips and looks ratty very fast is one thing they need to fix. they need to use a finish that looks good as it wears.
just bought the mini grip. Haven't received it yet- I am replacing a 530 pardue lightweight axis with the spear point blade. My sister found it in a taxi at her college nearly 10 years ago and sadly I lost it an uber about a year back. Sad to have lost it but happy for whomever gets to have it next, the universe brought it to me and now has brought it to someone else who must need it more. For now, the mini griptilian should be perfect for my edc. I wear basketball shorts nearly every day so the lighter and thinner profiled knives are best for me. Thanks for the review.
Hey Talon, pick up an older Grip with the sheepsfoot style blade and the spidey hole then change the scales and you'll have everything you want minus the steel upgrade. Good video bro
For me...Spyderco PM2--CONS--the blade. Don't like the recassa/nub. Gettng a serrated edged version would be my way around that. Will buy a Para 3 and maybe a Dragon fly 2..both serrated. Benchmande blades are done right Like the 940 (base and the -1 CF/S90V) and the Griptilian (G10/S30V or CF/S90V)....maybe the Bugout -3 (CF/S90V) or -4 (Alu/K390)...wish they had more than the one colour choice for the scales.
People get bugouts and then swap the scales for something "more sturdy" are defeating the purpose of the bugout lol, benchmade makes a ton of knives similar to the bugout but with full liners and more sturdy scales so just buy one of those lol

Own both of them but for some reason I always gravitate towards the grip. I’ve field dressed two deer with that knife.
Griptilian Black Tanto is my EDC and serves me well.
Love my Manix 2 with titanium ball cage and pm 2.
benchmade's painted pocket clip that chips and looks ratty very fast is one thing they need to fix. they need to use a finish that looks good as it wears.
I just got the Griptilian mini 555 with the bottom serrations as my first real knife.
they offer the Griptilian, and Griptiliann mini with spidey holes.
OK on the count of three name your favourite dinosaur, don't even think about it just do it. 1, 2, 3... GRIPTILIAN...
Great video. Your knife collection and mine are very similar. 👌🏼
just bought the mini grip.
The only thing wrong the Para 2 is it's weak tip.
you forgot to mention the price factor for each
Two of my favorite knives. I really want the 551-1 Grip, with the 20v blade, and flow though G10 scales
Just got the Grip 551-1 and its great! Beautifull too!
I'm bias, I love me some spyderco. Hated them until I got a pm2 and now they have won me over.
Also screw benchmade for cutting up guns.
I'm loving the knife vids
I like the benchmade knives, the bear and son and the bear ops!!
I love both and EDC both.
I also carry both at the same time
Hey Talon, pick up an older Grip with the sheepsfoot style blade and the spidey hole then change the scales and you'll have everything you want minus the steel upgrade. Good video bro
odb military is the fav of me never leaves da pocket . presidio 2 comes next week and we will see we will
Have a benchmade 550 and pm2 I like the grip better personally. I’ve actually just sold the 550 to buy a 550-1
You should review a Griptilian 550-1 vs Paramilitary 2. 550-1 Griptilian has the Spydie hole and with the axis lock is the ultimate flicking knife.
You don't have one but the sheepsfoot blade profile would have been the best comparison to the pm2.
So modify or forge a Spyderco blade on a Benchmade body and you have the perfect knife. Maybe a colab with Alec Steele or Laura Kampf?
Benchmade has a Griptilian that has flat slab of G10, deep carry clip, and thumb hole in the blade.
I also own a Sebenza 21 with a cf scale and a UTX-85 both great in there own way!
Love the Griptillians, especially in sheepfoot blade
Highly recommend you check out the new Kershaw launch 11!!! Super sleek design and fires with authority
does the griptilian come with a bench grinder?
People get bugouts and then swap the scales for something "more sturdy" are defeating the purpose of the bugout lol, benchmade makes a ton of knives similar to the bugout but with full liners and more sturdy scales so just buy one of those lol
