bought one of these on my Birthday July 1st from Blade HQ, absolutely love it, and I also have the bigger freek, both are incredible, fantastic knives! great overview!
Thanks for making the vid , just ordered one of these puppies and I m a little excited . Love the cF bugout 535 and osborne. The 3” blades are great for edc . The bigger ones work better tho for me when on a site .
I’m just digging that you’re wearing Marc’s Long Island Watch gloves. I have the original Freek , Mini Freek and the Super Freek. I just ordered the carbon fiber Mini yesterday. Nice Sinn, BTW.
I agree. The Benchmade "super" freek is perfect! But then, so is the 550 griptillian with the sheepsfoot blade with licensed Spydy hole. Ditto for the Ritter grip. And the Knives Ship Free exclusive 908 stryker in carbon fiber and CPM-M4. And the de-assisted 581 barrage with aluminum bolsters/G-10 and M390 blade steel. And......... well, theres quite a few "perfect" Benchmades imo. But this mini freek just might be the perfect, perfect Benchmade! Im really sweating it. Something about those red thumbstuds on that bright finished blade and carbon fiber handle. It just looks.....SPECIAL. Gonna have to.add one to my collection.
Stock 945 pocket clip is same arrow style as the one that comes on the mini only its a little bit less than half the size its the perfect clip for this knife it takes all hot spots away and makes ergos perfect order one from benchmade if you dont have a mini 945 clip handy it made me go from liking the carry and ergos to loving it
@ Knife Watch I think its feel fine you have to really squeeze down on it to feel it and even then I wouldn’t consider it a hot spot. I tried the Bugout clip first and hated it compared to this one.
I have this knife on the way and then saw this video on my homepage. I had ordered the benchmade deep carry clip from their site, do you think that would be as good as the clip that you used? Figured I should stick with the same brand clip in case I decided to sell it.
Hi, is it possible to have the link for the pocket clip, it seems there is several ones that looks quite similar. Thanks for the awesome review, I am now thinking of getting it
Enjoy the knife in good health! Thanks for watching, Vinh! mxggear.com/products/custom-made-titanium-deep-carry-pocket-clip-made-for-benchmade-knives-1
Do the drilled out holes for the pocket clip have some brass/steel inserts for the screws or do the screws go straight into the carbon fiber scales ? Nobody has covered this small detail, which is kinda important.
Excellent review of a beautifully designed knife. Never mind the materials the cosmetics are superlative, a stunner. I’d like to buy it on the strength of its appearance alone but the price is a bit off putting. Must think on it for a bit. Thanks for sharing!! Ciao.
You got me when you said you didn’t want to get dirt and sweat on it 😂. I’m so stuck between the freek or the mini freek. I like the freek but wish it was S90V
I agree completely some guy said he could get better knives for 125.00 😂😂 I said you find a knife with s90 and full carbon fiber for that let me know I’ll buy 5
That knife is perfection. And I love the point you made about it being cheap. You brought up great points about pricing and comparing it to the chris reeves. Btw I love your reveiws keep up the great reviews dude👍👍
Is there any reason why you didn't go with the benchmade deep carry pocket clip from there site? Just wondering because I'm about to buy one I have mxg for my spydercos
That's such a good point on the pricing. I think to myself, "benchmades are a bit overpriced". Then tomorrow I'm going to pick one of those up potentially or the 940-2003. Point being is that I can say one thing and do another all day, just like I'm sure a lot of Benchmades' customers do.
@@KnifeWatch Appreciate the response after going through the responses I see that Hung asked a similar question and you linked mxggear.com/products/custom-made-titanium-deep-carry-pocket-clip-made-for-benchmade-knives-12?variant=5885947395 if you don't mind clarifying which of the 2 you got.

The reason China sells more stuff is price, you can argue that quality lacks but when you make tens of thousands or more you could come a little closer to the competition in price.
Your video is done well. I will take your challenge to refute some claims though. When it comes to pricing you say that the knife is priced reasonable because you know about the complexities of cost analysis, however, you don't have that information in front of you. I can, right now, buy s30v at retail cost for $7 per blade of this size and buy s90v from the same retailer for $8 per blade. There will of course be some difference in machining cost and heat treat but the reality is that Benchmade is pushing the market value up because it can bear it due to consumer cultivated prestige, the value of s90v to us consumers, and the artificial value placed on it by companies through supply/demand manipulation...like with diamonds. I've had two business owners do this in front of me with no other justification. Prices already make these knives unattainable for many and I feel that we shouldn't support price hikes by justifying the cost without empirical reasoning. Concerning the deep carry clip: people have different hands and different preferences. The deep carry clip isn't just a hot spot because of it's size, it's because of the tall loop that's placed right at the end of the handle. It works better on some handles more than others and in some hands more than others. It's a matter of preference. Thanks for reading this; I wouldn't have bothered contributing if I didn't like your video. I enjoy hearing about your user experience and opinion.
This mini freek is on my radar I will definitely be buying one as soon as I recover from buying a shamwari. I haven’t had any knife in s90v and I’m really wanting to try it out.
Wow the shamwari is remarkable. I hope you enjoy it. That’s got to be a fun honeymoon phase. S90v definitely feels different, the level of quality is noticeable.
It’s amazing quality it’s going to be a while before I actually carry it. Kinda like buying a Ferrari you are afraid to get a scratch on it. But it will get used that’s what they are made for.
garrison g it’s the same for me. I barely bring my Koenig anywhere because I baby it yet eventually we will grow into it. I believe it’s maturity to take what you’ve got seriously and treat it with care and respect. Enjoy your collection in good health, my friend!
Love this model. Probably my most desired of the Benchmade line. Still, at that price, I consider just a rich man 's toy if you already own more than one knife. My other complaint besides the price are the red thumb studs and spacer things. Can't say I find find that appealing.
I doubt anyone would argue S90V is inferior to S90V, but I will argue S90V is inferior to S35VN. The reason is that S90V is relatively flawed. While S90V has relatively good edge retention and corrosion resistance, its toughness is relatively weak. In comparison, S35VN is relatively flawless as its toughness and edge retention are relatively moderate and its corrosion resistance is relatively good. With no flaws - relative to the universe of 55 knife blade steels empirically and objectively assessed by metallurgist, Dr. Larrin Thomas - and with a far more affordable price, I'll take S35VN on a folding-blade or fixed-blade knife anytime rather than S90V, which is prone to chipping. I suppose S90V on a folding-blade pocket knife might be okay if you're willing to baby it, but why pay such an exorbitant price for a knife with limited utility? I buy knives to use them.
So do I, but I recognize that different knives work better in different applications, and that 99% of my applications are opening packages… Therefore, what I really need is a very light, sharp knife that is easy to carry, which a small knife like this is perfect. If I were doing a lot of heavier work, I’d get a bigger knife, for sure.
We re all pretty sure BM s are a little overpriced lately . Still a great brand imo. All their models bring me joy . I also like a few twosuns , the 129 and 380 and a few spidercos and civivis and kizers
Uh this dude acts like he never heard of Spyderco… for real? Talk about how you can get s90v for under 200 for very good Spydercos. They also have better Action.
Happy to provide context. When this video was made over 3 years ago, Spyderco was not throwing out s90v for under $200 with any type of regularity, my friend.
Your spewing some false facts there you can get a quality s110v for $150 range. Pricing is also based on competitors. There exists USA made knives that are cheaper, better quality, steel and better QC. So how does benchmade justify charging a premium? Either they are inefficient or are trying to artificially increase their margins... maybe there's a reason they arent as sucessful as other companies... The way you review things is really strange theres an overall tonality that makes it seem like no other knife companies or knives exist.
