    the mini freek is the perfect knife for me, i switch between this and a demko 20.5 cf s35vn for heavier duty use. nice video!

    Wish I could get both hahha, the price for the mini is ludicrous, the big one for me definitely.

      Good choice. I've been carrying the Super a lot to work lately.

    They should've went all out with the 565-1.. adding matching red anodized liners OR red inlays on the inside of the carbon fiber. Similar to the bigger one. The red really pops but it needs more. Black Axis lock hardware too.

    • @CuttingEdgeAction
      @CuttingEdgeAction  2 года назад

      With the knife being so small I could see the red inlays being a bit too loud, but I'd have to see it to pass judgment. I agree that the lock hardware should be black, especially at this price point.

      @@CuttingEdgeAction Yea definitely. It's highly priced. But all of their factory s90v knives are. I have one. it's great. I just wanted more red on the inside & black Axis hardware. I asked Benchmade about buying some blacked out Axis, they said no & reverted me to their customer shop.

    Really nice comparison, and great video. Shows off the knives perfectly!
    I was debating on going from a PM3 to a Mini or Super Freek, but I think I am gotta go with the Super because I really love the handle on the PM3. Thanks for the video!

      Benchmades are great but you certainly pay a premium to get that little butterfly on the blade. I have several Spydie's and they're excellent as well. Nothing wrong with protecting your wallet!

    Weird, why would you put a standard Benchmade pocket clip on the mini Freek rather than the deep carry mini? I understand not wanting the standard arrow as many do not like them. I went with a really cool mini red titanium clip on mine. Each to their own , but I was curious.
    I also hear so many complain about the price of the mini Freek. Can someone please point out an American made knife with the same materials and attention to detail for any less? Every knife brand I see is either about the same or far more with the same materials. What people pay for American made Spydercos with materials that aren't even on par with this knife is crazy. But no one ever seems to complain about Spydercos pricing. I find that nuts. I purchased a ZT in carbon fiber with a blade steel that is sub par with the Mini Freek (super) and it was under $300.00 .
    Maybe too many of yuh ou buy Chinese made knives and that is what you are basing an opinion on? The gold class models I purchased then would make many of you fall over.
    But anyway. I think the ( super ) mini Freek is an awesome knive and is very well executed.

      I had the full-size deep carry clip on while shooting this video because it was the only extra deep carry clip I had on hand. The Hogue Deka Sub Zero and Scorpion models offer MagnaCut steel, carbon fiber handles, and a bar lock for $200. You can still get the Scorpion Clip Point here: www.smkw.com/hogue-deka-scorpion-magnacut-clip-point. Benchmade makes great products, but there is most definitely an R&D/branding tax that comes along when you buy one of their knives.

      I'm a big Benchmade fan but you won't hear any arguments against that from me. The pricing is especially ludicrous on the mini.

    I have both of these knives clones $26.20 for the feek large in jade G10 and the mini in carbon fiber $ 39.60 ! ( the blade steel liehype , it would only raise the price a few dollars not hundreds of dollars )! I collect only clones of way way over priced Chinese cnc machine clones ( most all knives are made by Chinese cnc machines ( yes even the so called American co) ) ! but the so called American co. do not pass on the labor and skill savings on to the customer ,like a customer loyal co would ! they say they are ripped off by clones ! I say it is their turn and their karma !

    • @CuttingEdgeAction

      I'll grant you Benchmades being overpriced. However, the difference in quality between the real thing and a Chinese clone isn't even comparable. While the steel stock may only be tens of dollars more expensive per knife, that's multiplied by the difficulty of working with higher end steels. The higher end steels are typically more temperamental when it comes to grinding the correct geometry, heat treating, and sharpening. If one of those blanks gets destroyed by a bad heat treatment, the process has to be restarted. The cheaper Chinese steels are prone to snapping, bending, or dulling quickly. The variance in quality from one Chinese clone to the next can also be vast due to lower QC standards. All that being said, if the Chinese clones do the job you need them to do, then use them to your heart's content.
