I've always thought my Bugout was perfect for my EDC -- nice blade, light weight, compact -- but my mind told me it was "delicate" so I've been gentle with it. Thanks for taking a robust gamble on it! Quite impressive!

I agree.. I been carrying a bugout for a year and I do the same. The best thing about this knife for me is its light and the pocket clip is great. Otherwise I can't seem to like it and I've tried. I'm used to knives more robust like aluminum handles and thicker blade. I carried a buck 722 spitfire for 8 years and it was a workhorse with a aluminum handle and 420hc. The bugout is not a bad knife im just not used to a plastic handle and thinner blade

I ordered my bugout and received it yesterday but I gotta admit that moving forward I’ll never spend that much on a knife that feels so cheap. I ordered the griptillian as well with it and it costs like 30 bucks less and feels way better. I got my Benchmade feeler and I won’t ever buy another one again. Maybe the adamas. That’s it.

Steel flexibility/elasticity is always fascinating, swords will even have silicon added to help them bend 90 degrees without deformation or fracture. Watching steel bounce back is so weird! Sara continues to be a great co-host. Going through the grain with thin blades was always going to be rough, but still doable.

These tasks definitely aren’t easy if you don’t spend a lot of time outdoors doing them, I appreciate the effort these two put into the testing. Also glad to see how well the bugout held up. Anyone who is expecting a hard use tool out of the bugout is looking for a different knife, still cool to see that it could make it happen in a pinch.

The Bugout is the Greatest Folder Of All Time. I don’t care that it’s only been around 7 years. It’s slicier than it should be. It’s tougher than it should be, and it has the best blade to weigh ratio in the game. Excellent ergos. Carry form is incredible, it’s almost imperceptible in pocket. The aftermarket’s massive and allows you to make it completely your own. Benchmade doesn’t even take nearly as much advantage of it as they even could. Need sone more aluminum options from factory. Bonus, it’s a full size knife that doesn’t look imposing to use in public. I’ve got 9 of them.

I bought a mini Griptilian in D2 when they first came out. It was a nice knife and I'm a huge Mel Pardue fan but, damn that thing would grab inside my pocket so bad it was hard to pull it out. In the 3" range, the 705 was the best EDC Benchmade ever made. I gave several away as Christmas gifts and still have my Forum Knife in M2.

So you’re trying to break a light duty knife? I don’t get it. I’m a backpacker. I carry a mini Swiss Army knife, and the blade on it is more than I ever need. It also has scissors and a toothpick and tweezers, what a perfect tool! But sometimes I’ll really splurge and carry my mini bugout. At over an ounce and a half, it’s a bit heavy and it’s 3 inch blade is far more than a backpacker ever needs.
