That was pretty hard to watch, but you have instilled more confidence I now have for my Bugout.
That was horrible to watch but now I know it can handle the kind of work I need it to do lol.
I was thinking of buying a bug out and wanted to How durable it was and now I’m definitely going to buy one
cringeeee lol nice video 👍
Cool vid. Should finally shut up every person that claims the knife self-destructs when you look at it because of the “flex” and “cheap” scales. 👍👍
Thanks Alchemy! I wanted to show this knife will take a lot and just because the handles flex, it won’t let you down! Appreciate your feedback and support!
*cough* Wranglerstar
OspreyBravo18 you should watch my previous Bugout videos which came before what Wrangler posted. Thanks for watching!
No. It's not rugged enough for that price. The light weight is great, but I'd prefer to have a heavier knife that I trusted more. I'm sure the blade is very good steel. The action appears fine. I can get a cheap knife that will do light weight jobs just as well as this Bugout, and apply the savings toward another tool. That plastic handle with no metal liner or metal frame relegates it to tasks that are less demanding. That's too much money for that level of usefulness.
Wranglerstar was right.
I only ordered one a couple of days ago. It should arrive early next week. Very happy to see that this small light knife can withstand such abuses, which, by the way, I will never subject it. Thank you for the helpful video.
The Bugout was like “quit using me for shit I shouldn’t be used for *bites hand*”
No doubt!! Thanks Casey!
Finally some real testing. Well done, man!
Thank you! Appreciate you checking out this fun video!
Just received a Bugout for my birthday as was a little worried after reading reviews in which people made the knife sound weak. After getting the knife in hand let me tell you any worry I had has been put to rest. The knife is solid as can be and your video further proves this point. If you are on the fence about this knife trust me it’s well worth it.
That’s one hell of a knife, excellent post. This is the way a knife should be tested.
Makes me feel good about the knives I’ve just bought.
Never seen someone struggle to open a bottle with any tool before lol. On the other hand the Bugout just impressed me, would never had put that much faith in it if i hadnt seen this.
I wanted to thumbs down this as these are examples of everything you do not want to do with your knife. It's painful to watch, but I'm impressed with how this knife held up. Should be fine for my day to day tasks of opening packaging and slicing apples.
I appreciate that you did these tests so much!! Thank you for helping calm my silly fears about fragility in my bugout. Thanks again!
We appreciate your sacrifices
Let's drive this Honda Civic over this pile of cinderblocks and see if it breaks... What you SHOULD expect from the 535 Bugout: a super lightweight tool that cuts efficiently, doesn't rust easily, and stays sharp a long time. What you SHOULD expect if you pry with a thin stainless steel knife blade: it will break. What you SHOULD expect if you beat a Bugout with a hammer: the edge will chip, and the liners will bend.
Fr…People act like knife should be the only tool for everything. For an “EDC”, it has more durability than we would ever need. Everytime someone says that “a cheaper knife is a lot tougher than bugout,” I just tell them that an axe is even stronger than any knife, what’s their point?
Anyone who says this is a cheaply made knife is just salty when they see benchmade...
I'm still new in the knife world and I'm waiting for my bugout (my first ever benchmade). Wish me luck.
@@najidraf1979how do you like it?
I think that when people said stand on it, they meant open it. Put it on blocks with enough space for your foot to fall into, and then stand on the knife over the gap.
Zack I have always felt that the bugout was a flimsy knife but your test has changed my mind think I will be picking one up thanks for opening my eyes 🙏🙏🙏
The most surprising part of this video, was that Zach drinks Mike's hard lemonade.
😉😉😉🤙🏼
Judging at how inept he is at using that knife, he probably switched to white claw by now
This hurts to watch. Especially since I just bought one.
Best test on the internet of the bugout! I want sure about it before... was looking for something to replace my manix 2. Your video convinced me, the bugout is the way to go!
Dropped mine while open 40 feet down into a submarine hit everything it could and took me 30 minutes to find . no marks or blade play
Just because it's so light that there's almost no impact and the plastic is so flexible that it'll act as a dampener😝
Not kidding, it's a great knife.👊
dude I did the exact same thing with my mini freek and leatherman OHT and both were fine lol
Nice to see YOU do that to your knife and not me to mine. Nice to see it could take that abuse. Thanks for the video. I'm getting one next week
That was very impressive. I bought a benchmade 940 about 6-weeks ago. Might have to get a bugout after seeing this too.
That's was the most disturbing, but enlightening video I've ever seen.
Good job.
Glad you enjoyed it!
King bugout is dead, long live the new king-king taggedout!
Once you sharpen that and refine the edge up with higher grits. It will be lightsaber sharp
I was wrong. This thing surprised the hell out of me. I'm buying one!
I think a multitool would be something for you 🥶🥶🥶
Would be interesting to repeat this with one of those $16 Chinese Bugout clones.
Yes!! See how the handles and heat treat hold up
Just got mine in today
Dbk did this video this past week btw surprise the clone broke
The clones break, cheap plastic handle and junk steel.
Wow! My Bugout is my first Benchmade I put red Flytanium scales on it and it looks sick and the action got better!
@10:33 the Bugout said fuck you bro I'm not a prybar :))))))
I was on the fence about these but now I’m definitely picking one up!
Very nice MK! They are fantastic!
I’ve been loving it! The delica 4 kicked it out of the pocket for a little while. But the bugout is really hard to beat for the perfect edc
Watching someone baton through a 2×4 with a bugout is something i didnt think id ever see lol. Props for torturing your knife for us to and to shut up some of the haters 😂😂
It looks like the glock of the knife world. I would use an Ontario knives RAT for those jobs as it is a little more chunky and about 3 times the weight. It did way better than I expected.
Is that mjolnir on the blade? That's hella tight lol
Finally someone who actually torture tests
If that doesn’t instill confidence in the naysayers they are just mental!
After only a few days of pocket carry and normal use I badly chipped my Bugout’s blade. I returned it to Benchmade for repairs. About 5 weeks later it was returned back in mint condition(at no cost to me). I’ve been hesitant to carry ever since it’s return. Thanks to your video I’ll try giving it some pocket time again.
How did you chip it? I hate when people don't say what they did to break stuff.
Sorry about that, chipped it cutting a commercial grade zip tie.
@@scotts.1401was it the factory edge? normally the edge from the manufacturers are quite weak.
@@skinnymalone9478 yes, it was a factory edge. Usually when I get a new knife I will strop it prior to carrying. I believe that was the case with this one as well.
Painful to watch but someone had to do it. Impatiently waiting
for my back ordered ranger green model to arrive. Thanks for
the video.
Just got mine and saw this video very impressive thank you for a fantastic review…
Glad you liked it!
The best part is any of those even minor damages, send it to warranty and Benchmade will send you a practically new knife, professionally sharpened and dialed in
Hm ... not sure if their warranty tolerates abuse as well as their knives do🤔
Yeah the lock bar on those axis locks are stout for sure but I’ve had omega springs break in both my mini grip and 940, and I certainly never beat it with a hammer lol. Benchmades would be worth it to me if the omega springs weren’t such an inherent design flaw in the long term. And if you plan on using a benchmade for fishing, you better keep those springs oiled on a regular basis! It sucks because the blades are great…
Man that is one beasty blade, I’m starting to really like that knife even though I don’t have one😂 Looks amazing and you can’t go wrong with a Benchmade!
Well I wasn't sure if I was going to get one, but I'm sold now. Thanks for the video Zach!
Great video! Only validates my love for this little knife. Thanks for making the test vid!
Officially you have to call your knife a "beater"... SOME people will find something WRONG with EVERYTHING. Thanks for the vid.... This knife would outlast most people....
That is some good heat treat. Flex in the spine but still maintain an edge sweet
Fun.
Your hand will be fine, Chicks dig scars.
*If you did this with a different knife in every video you'd have a million subs!*
I now have the confidence to regularly use my Bugout to open twist-off bottle caps!
🤣No doubt!
That is really amazing!
Thanks it was fun to test and film!
I have to say I'm impressed.
It did pretty well!
Now that was a tough test! Liked it.
Why would you do that stuff? Nobody in their right mind would use a $150 plus knife that way. It is a knife, not a pry bar. I couldn’t get past the “bottle opener” part. Benchmade should have kept your knife and sent you one of those $5.00 made in Pakistan knives in return.
Excellent video Zach, definitely confidence in hand with that knife, this video changed my perception for the better , glad you weren't hurt to bad
I also watched Wranglerstar and other that made response videos to him but paid no mind to it. Now your video just showed us exactly what the Bugout can do. Of course you can break it, but to what extent are you willing to do to it. Thanks Zack and take care 👊👊👊
Thanks for the physical testing,I’ve yet to even speak loudly to mine.
Thanks Robert! It was fun testing and glad yours is in good condition and hasn’t talked back yet!
Nice to see actual real world tests being done on a knife instead of "it can cut through a 5 stack of cardboard and a piece of receipt paper!".
Thank you!
Great video. We need more videos like this for other knife brands and models.
Anybody who would treat a knife like that should not be surprised if it gets broke, you stabbed into the screw many times, nice little knife
Cool video I like it when people get away from the table top and put the knife through some pain👍👍✌️
This sure shut my mouth. I picked one up and felt like i could break it. Will have to get one now
It’s a solid lightweight EDC! Thanks for checking out the video!
Benchmade Bugout. AKA: BM hatchet, BM staple-remover, BM screwdriver, BM prybar, BM bottle-opener, BM speed hump, BM Little Paratrooper toy (complete with undeployed parachute) & finally, Benchmade Bugout.
NOT A CHINESE JUNK KNIFE! American made, my man. I've had mine for a few months now and love it. I EDC it daily and use it for much lighter duty tasks than shown in the video: Boxes, tape, cord, and food uses. Awesome knife! Well worth the price.
Kotku Zie someone has never owned a WE or Reate or a Taichung spyderco
damn, that's some testing, subscribed. i ordered this knife before i saw your video and now that i have seen the video, i'm stoked. this should put to bed a lot of crap i ignored earlier. i wouldn't put any of my extremely hard use carpentry tools thru this on purpose, although i never carried a pocket knife in my tool bag--only razor knives with disposable blades....
My word!!, Hats off to the Bugout and yourself, proper job man 👌
Just returned a 940 to cabelas, I didn't like the black scales/stainless blade look, honestly just looks like a cheap steak knife to me when it's open. Decided to grab one of these bugout knives instead and holy crap I didn't expect it to be able to take this much punishment. My normal work duties shouldn't strain this thing in the slightest. Thanks for really pushing this thing to the limits and putting my mind at ease.
Im the owner of probably worlds heavily used Benchmade Bugout. And i agree that this knife is very tough. Only issues i have is with tumb stubs- they just aluminum an they just wipe off, and axis bar is from titanium- its just not good material of that kind of task, TI is very vurnable to attrition. I must change it becouse its just end, blade was closing on filars. I got photo on insta if u whant to look.
Sounds like you have been testing this Bugout for a long time! Yes let me know where you have it posted! Thanks
@@zachstuff chek it out: instagram.com/p/BpTZiPTFUtc/?igshid=aki3m5tggcoj
Some great work on your Bugout! Thanks for sharing!
Wow this is extreme!
Thanks for the video, I'm sold on it.
Glad I could help Arthuro!!
Incredible test! Great job and thank you for showing us how durable the bug out can be.
Did your left hand break in the thumbnail?
This is why i love benchmade, yeah not the sharpest knife ever produced but it can actually be used outside of an office & doesn't need to be treated like pocket jewelry & it can take a beating and keep on ticking. I had one spyderco para 3 with the s110v and not even a week I tried to use it to lightly pry on a vinyl fence cap and the tip snapped off a good heavy quarter of an inch, which shouldnt be all that abusive given how flexible vinyl is & the thickness of the vinyl which was maybe 1/8th inch
You bought a knife in one of the least tough 'super' steels out there. You should not have been surprised.
@@grafjait more comes down to heat treating and geometry.... s110v isn't far off from s30v and s30v isn't that tough of a steel but most benchmades have very durable tips.... the para 3 has an anorexia tip, it's pathetic for a blade that has the name para military. I'l take my benchmade any day of the week with an actual warranty then the trash spyderco is peddling.
mike's twist off Zack
I just dont like the cheap feeling handles.
Proven Ultra-lite & DURABLE!!! Who knew it could baton, ran-over, & dropped high/etc... w/Grivory scales. Getting my custom in M4 & Ultra-lite Grivory Blk/OD Blkout!!!🔪
Finally a REAL test!! Thumbs up!
Thanks for watching!
3k views? Man, this guy is awesome. Thanks for this wonderful review.
Pretty cool! Thanks Jhake!
ThaNk u!!!
Very noice testing sir
Just ordered one for 110$ new online after watching this video 🤘
Zach , just watched this, the ultimate hardcore review!
Oh man. I'm thinking about getting this knife, but I didn't know if it is reliable enough. If I consider that I would probably use this mostly for cutting threads on clothes and opening paper boxes, I think I'll get it.
You will be very happy with it Tom! Thanks for the feedback and enjoy!
😂😂😂
" let me open this paint can , and bash my 160 dollar pocket knife through this knotty wood " - said nobody ever in real life.
Nah I'm just kidding , I get it, and it's cool to see that it can do it
how wud it do if dropped in fire?
Pretty impressive Zach. Definitely capable, especially for the specs.. Good job! 🇺🇸👍
Damn I'm surprised that paint can gave such a fight. (I didn't realize it was THAT old)
Usually I use as much of the tip I can. And with the knife hand, I'll put my thumb on the side of the blade right up against the ridge of the can for control, and work around. It usually opens in a half/ 1 pass. Granted they are new/fairly new paint cans.
I'm glad to see it stood up to all these tests.
Thanks Spencer! Yeah I should have picked a new paint can! Oh well better for the testing I guess. Hind sight move my hand back...!!! Appreciate you watching and supporting!
@@zachstuff I'm just glad it wasn't a serious cut man. 🤟
Me too! Thanks
if you wonder why people think this knife isn't up to par. It's because of wranglestar and other 'outdoorsmen', they act as if you should use a knife as a multitool prying, battoning, general abuse when you should use a fixed blade or even better an axe or pry tool for those jobs. it chaps my ass because there are better tools lol. knives are for cutting. if you use even the best steel like this you will need to sharpen/ reprofile daily. it's a shit philosophy if you ask me. a lightweight scary sharp knife used for cutting is all you need quit acting like a caveman and use other tools lol
Love the Bugouts...They do everything l need them to do! I'll be adding a Baby Bugout to the family very soon
I know there called mini 😜
Great vid...hope ur hand is ok
Yikes that was tuff.. Especially the Bottle cap.... You're supposed to use the spine of the blade, get it under the brim of the cap and pop it off first try. Iv got a Kershaw Kuro (the orginal one) and itll take bottle caps off in seconds
Lost my Spyderco para2 at work so I had to buy another EDC knife. It was a toss up between the BM Osborne and the BM Bugout.. I wound up getting both
Can I ask which one your liking more so far?
I carry both daily, best knifes ive ever bought
Any knife will break with enough stupity applied!
Very true!
A man
bugout: *passes napoleon dynamite Tupperware test*
me: "I want that..."
Sweeeeet! Comparison is on point!
Thank you for a "real world" test!
Did you pick up the staples?
OH yes!
I once cut my self down to my artery on my finge, and blood was pulsing our, I was in third grade so I asked for a bandaid
The sound of you stepping on the knife was oddly satisfying lmao
Yeah need to wear some big boots next time! Thanks JBarry!
Dude I have snapped a bug out carving wood it's not very strong light maybe strong no
This hurt to watch, thanks for testing it tho
Great video over all, i know its late, but the reason why it struggled with the mikes was cause those are twist off caps
I know….not being a beer drinker or was all I could grab in the house. It was fun! Will do it again soon!
@@zachstuff I will admit, I was conforting my 2 bugouts while they watched in horror as you "misused" them. Will sub off this one video though!
