Not a big fan of super lightweight knives. But as a secondary or something you put in a pack that’s dedicated for light duty I bet that’s a great little blade.
I love my Bugout. Just reviewed it today. I highly recommend it. S30V is a freaking BEAR to sharpen whether it be Benchmade, Spyderco, Zero Tolerance, or any other company that uses S30V
I liked the fact you knife baton with the bugout so much I subscribed! I like my bugout. Since I refuse to get a 940 that isn't a 940-1, I am glad the bugout can be the edc I don't mind losing or giving away to a friend in need of a good knife.
Mine (non 1st production) came scary freakin sharp and also even 8mos later is still perfectly centered also I have no issues sharpening the S30V and actually am highly impressed with benchmades treatment of this steel because of how durable it is and how sharp it will get when really stretching out thee edge yet holds that hair whittling edge quite a while of EDC use!
This is a great knife- and those occasional people here who say- doesn’t look durable or capable of hard use are blind, and have no idea what they’re talking about.
@@AdvancedKnifeBro I could not agree more! I mean it is a BENCHMADE!!! Lol they issued us benchmade autos when we got to Iraq 3 days before the war started and for good reason, their knives are held to higher standards than many other manufacturers and they hold up to tasks beyond their recommended use! I still love my ZT and Spyderco knives but that benchmade knife may have saved my ass more than a few times and I wish I still had it today!
I got to see one of these the other day and I was very impressed. I also scored a Manix 2 lightweight in BD1 and a Paramilitary 2 finally. The Manix really impresses me with the weight to size ratio. I had a G-10 Manix sprint run in CTS-BD30P and I thought it was way too heavy, but this one is great!

I Just bought the Griptilian with the g10 handles and the Bugout about two weeks ago. When I first held the Bugout I thought this thing can't be very sturdy but I was wrong and it continues to impress me. I almost want to carry it more than my 940-2, almost.
packinaglock I have a 940-1 and I swapped the thumb studs. It’s impossible to not just carry in the back pocket by the wallet as a backup being so slim
I was gonna ask on your next video if you had plans to review this one. Suppose I got my answer. I have been in the market for a Benchmade for no other reason than I don't have one and this may well be it. Super lightweight, seems sturdy enough based on the reviews I have seen so far and to me at least, aesthetically pleasing. Thanks for the Review Knife Bro!
The Mini Griptilian felt cheap and disappointing, like waking up on Christmas morning to the giant, cheap, plastic Voltron when you were perfectly clear you wanted the smaller metal Voltron.
Great Review. I saw a few reviews of this knife now. I still can't decide if I want one. If I bought I could do a review and then keep it in one of the knifebags with all the other knives. And it wouldn't take up a lot of weight like everybody has been very eager to point out. Nah really not in love with this one.
Having handled a bugout and owning a mini griptillian I can say the later feels sturdier but the bugout doesn’t feel bad. I am concerned about it over long term wear, but it feels quality brand new.
Advanced Knife Bro of course not. It would be a back up to my fixed blade.......but I'm glad you beat on yours so I don't have to. And for that thank you sir. Idk when I get mine I may do a hard use video. Haven't reviewed any of my folders yet
Hey man my 10 year old son and I love watching your channel. Unfortunately the cursing is something that I can't let him watch. I appreciate all the hard work that you put into the reviews.
I bought the grey bugout and the adamas at the same time cuz going from one extreme to the other is how I roll I guess. Or I needed to even out my manliness.
I take it back. This is a camp knife too, shaves and cuts wood just fine and holds an edge, been cutting things with this knife to test it and its doing great. Still wouldn't use it for things meant for fixed blade use, or any folder
So, I just found your channel. You are now, hands down, my favorite knife reviewer. So nice to hear a guy just enjoying the products and giving an honest impression. I get so tired of porous knife snobbery. Subbed and shared. I don't know how to Instagram though so.....I'll leave that to Benchmade.
I don't know how to instagram either. I basically do it to supplement this channel... drive a bit of traffic... and alert subscribers to stuff I'm going to review. While I like nicer knives, I'm definitely not a knife snob. I give you some of my impressions... and hope I give enough info to know if it's a blade you'd be interested in or not.
You should try and review other folders this same way on the torture test at the end. For science of course. I have been on the lookout for a folding knife that can do some light batonning (3in wide max), easy and quick to deploy, feathersticks well, and can use a firesteel on the back. Dream EDC here for this Alaskan.
I have my endura4 in zdp189 and love it .But now I'm considering selling that knife and buy the Spyderco caly3.5 (zdp189/420j)in carbon fiber handle and this one.would you suggest that?thanks^_^
With the Caly you'd get a slightly smaller lighter weight knife, and a slicker handle. I would assume both have a pretty similar hand feel. I dunno I'd prefer the longer blade of the endura... both have the same lockup- so there's no fun factor upgrade. The Caly looks nicer? I literally have no idea... both have pros and cons- But I personally wouldn't upgrade if it was me. People want different things out of a knife.
thank you ! the zdp-189 on the caly3.5 is harden to 67HRC , which is almost as hard as Maxamet...,that is a point I considered.Another point is that the FRN handle on the endura is kind of too flexible, makes the blade not that stable under hard use.Anyway thanks for your advice :) ,I think I will take the paramilitary2 in s110v
Nice review as always. It's a shame Benchmade finds it difficult to center the blades on their knives these days. One thing you didn't mention for the perfectionists. Was the grind symmetrical IE not looking like a half assed chisel grind?
I think its a nice knife for the price. Im not sure if i want to buy one yet.but i think that if benchmade actually put in a stainless steel frame inside then i wouldn't mind paying a little more for it.i think it might be better in the long run. Great video by the way. I love it
I like how you chop apples and cardboard on the same cutting board, seems like a good knife...one day...ill buy a Spyderco or Benchmade. Budget options for now!
Spyderco's excuse for off-centered blades is the liner lock (even though Ganzo can do it right), so what's Benchmade's excuse? ...or is it just a "Made in USA - trademark feature"?

Not sure if I am too late, but could you explain your jab at Ganzo knives? I am newish into the knife world and have been genuinely shocked by the quality from my ganzo and tangram blades. I feel like it would fit in just fine with your channel and I'd love to see you do some reviews on them.
Nothing wrong with build quality, or price and value. They make a solid knife for the money with a budget steel. So the most I’d say is you have to sharpen them more. The big problem with Ganzos are that about 90% of their designs are imitations of other knives. They aren’t designed as fakes.. but the fact that they copy major design cues from other manufacturers rubs people the wrong way. I have reviewed lots of their knives... probably won’t anymore though. Just not worth the headaches of lectures, and arguments over if what they do it ethical. Have given away quite a few to friends and family and they like them.
@@AdvancedKnifeBro Mad respect for actually replying especially given how old the video is. I totally understand your answer as well. As a man whos independent and on a college budget i go for the budget blades. I would absolutely love to see you review some of the KA-BAR Dozier models (really any of them). For $20 on amazon they are literally workhorses that just keep on going. Hands down my 'first pick' if I need something to do some work. On another note, do you or anyone else reccommend a good (cheap) but effective sharpening system? Thinking about trying to snag a KME sharp maker on the swap if I can find one for the right price.
@@WaffleCouncil I have also reviewed the Dozier, so check out the video if you get a chance. I use the Spyderco Sharpmaker- works pretty well on Ganzos.

Advanced Knife Bro yeah, when I was 6 my Mom always told me, "the best sense of humor is the self deprecating kind". Then she pushed me back into the coal mining line and told me to dig harder. So there's that.
Hey Advanced knife bro, I got a question for you. On my local CL, someone is selling a Bench Made Proper, Minigriptillian, Minibugout for $200. I only plan on keeping one (probably the bugout) and selling the rest. They seem to be in excellent condition, would you scoop this deal? I don't precisely NEED a new knife, but it almost seems too good to pass.
If those are in good shape I think it’s a good deal- as long as they’re legit. It’s a good way to get a small collection going and you could probably resell those and make over half your money back or more.
Dude. Your vids are great; some funny and truly insightful moments in this one. Good intro, especially when you reference the various types of knife "reviewers" on the Tube. Would love to see this silly Benchmade compared to the Ka-Bar Dozier Folding Hunter, which costs $20 and has a similar design (even the blue!). An Advanced Knife Bro could, um, buy five of them for the price of the 535 Bugout. With fewer tears. Just sayin'.
I have this knife and I really like it. I think this is actually an excellent deal for the $. Mine seems to be quite a bit smoother then yours...maybe because they are 1st productions.
I’ve done batoning with my 580 barrage and it worked just fine. Literally use it for everythingggg.. Now I want the mini barrage, your thoughts on them?
I feel like this could be perfect to carry in a suit since there you feel every ounce and I don't like carrying my knife in my messenger bag. Here in Germany this knife is around 160 €.Would you say it is worth that much ? Or does someone know any alternatives ( < 2.5 oz / ~ 3" blade, pocketclip ) ? And btw please don't say Chris Reeve Mnandi, I don't want to cry everytime I use my knife.
I don't know of any quite that light with a blade that big. Check out my video for this Ganzo and see what you think? ruclips.net/video/rAELVOb7ZDA/видео.html
give it a year and it will be 100 dollars more, like the 940 a few years ago you could get one for 150$ now they are well in the 200 range, as are most knives, like spyderco, i pretty much exclusivly buy kershaw now, reliable and good price, and amazing customer service.
What % of the knife is Bug? I am into full disclosure. My dad used to say “why buy a broken knife”. We lived in Oregon and he needed a knife that could do real work. If you really want to destroy pretty much any folder, put the blade in a vise and strike the side or pry back and forth with one. The one thing a folder can’t do, that a fixed blade can, is pry. I prefer fixed blades. Hey! You could do a pry test on your folders!
Good video as always Bro. Two months ago I bought the new " Benchmade 560 Freek" and am very happy with it. Priced at $110 with s30v and part of the handle has the same material as the "Bugout". If you get the chance a review and comparison would be great
Love your reviews, especially when the knife sucks or it's useless high end jewelry, but i still don't understand all this concerns about the weight, which is found in every knife channel, how the weight of a pocket knife can affect you in any way..?
I used to carry knives in an internal jacket pocket. Once knives start creeping over 4 ounces they start pulling on the pocket and swing around. This can happen when carrying in lighter wool pants and shorts too. Also backpackers count weight in grams.... weight is important to them. Not everyone cares about weight... but it comes into play at certain times. If you just carry your ZT in your jeans you probably don’t think about knife weight much.
Wow, I'm impressed, Batoning Benchmades too! I like the comparisons to the other folders. Multitrack voice audio. More cussing. Dick jokes. This review has something for everyone! Don't worry, Benchmade should send you a knife for review some day...
+Patrick Richard I packed everything into this one. Glad you noticed me overlapping my dialogue. It was my corporate shills in the boardroom impression
I don't know how that happened... But I do know the 3.03 is correct. Other than my grams ratings... which I convert into ounces... everything else is measured in inches and converted to metric. I tried to reproduce how I did that, but couldn't figure it out. Oops... sorry. I wish I could go back and correct those after the fact- but it isn't possible. If something ever seems off just ask... and I'll remeasure it or check my math.
Too bad, I hoped it would be another knife under 3 inches legal for those poor folks in beaurocratic countries. (we don't have any knife regulations in Poland at all, they focused on banning firearms)
We've got our fair amount of regulations here... and our laws on certain knives are very confusing depending on where you live. Oh well- knife laws are dumb. A 4 inch blade on your kitchen knife is ok- but once it is put in your pocket- then it's a weapon?
+Nathan Armstrong I rotate between the 940-1, the Para military 2, and the headesigns poison. The poison is an acquired taste- but for some reason I love it.

If those are in good shape I think it’s a good deal- as long as they’re legit. It’s a good way to get a small collection going and you could probably resell those and make over half your money back or more.
Glad I found your channel. Dont change any shit.
+Jake Burnett I fucking won't- thanks man!
Is that baton you used to beat on this bugout for sale? Thanks subbed
Nope
So... Mini BugOut battening session?😱
I only regret, that I have but one life to sub to Advanced Knife Bro's channel.
Subbed...easily the least BS review of this knife I've seen.
Will you review more ganzos? There's a 10$ delica clone F759M that might be interesting.
+Derp Herp I can... it'll probably review some more in a month or two... I have some mora, he outdoors and y starts I have to do first.
How do you get a first production. That's a cool collector
Buy them when they’re first released... they get sent out to dealers. I have one or two like this.
+David Bock I'll keep it in mind. And try and pick one up. Just got in 5 cheap ass knives to review first.
I have this knife and I really like it. I think this is actually an excellent deal for the $. Mine seems to be quite a bit smoother then yours...maybe because they are 1st productions.
+Jet Steele could be? Thanks man.
What is your favorite folder?
Looking at the specs i should like this knife but it just doenst do it for me
If it don't do it for you- you just saved some dough!
Benchmade! Please start sponsoring this guy!
I’ve done batoning with my 580 barrage and it worked just fine. Literally use it for everythingggg..
Now I want the mini barrage, your thoughts on them?
Love my Bugout
This knife review is fantastic on so many levels. Keep them coming.
+Geoff Marl thank you! Got some more coming soon.
Oh my god you took our "throw a curse in there" advice from that one video 😂😂 5/5 gold stars! Good video as well!!!
I always take advice! Except when I don't!

Excellent review man.
Thanks dude!
Would love to see this one in titanium/cf and maybe m390/elmax steel :)
+Howlin000 so you're the guy responsible!
Please curse a lot more, it’s very relaxing! I watch your channel so I can fall asleep!
You make the best knife reviews. Entertaining, with all the information needed. Shit.
+ssbrosking36 thanks dude!
Awesome video! I like the review, and language.
I think I'll go for a spyderco native instead
+Eduardo Gomez sounds like a good plan!
give it a year and it will be 100 dollars more, like the 940 a few years ago you could get one for 150$ now they are well in the 200 range, as are most knives, like spyderco, i pretty much exclusivly buy kershaw now, reliable and good price, and amazing customer service.
Kershaw has excellent customer service.
“Don’t worry S30V your day of reckoning is coming” Advanced Knife Brostradamus right here
What % of the knife is Bug? I am into full disclosure.
My dad used to say “why buy a broken knife”. We lived in Oregon and he needed a knife that could do real work. If you really want to destroy pretty much any folder, put the blade in a vise and strike the side or pry back and forth with one. The one thing a folder can’t do, that a fixed blade can, is pry. I prefer fixed blades. Hey! You could do a pry test on your folders!
A man carrying only a knife, when he knows he has to pry? EDC guys should be strapped with six knives and two multitools.
Good video as always Bro. Two months ago I bought the new " Benchmade 560 Freek" and am very happy with it. Priced at $110 with s30v and part of the handle has the same material as the "Bugout". If you get the chance a review and comparison would be great
+William Rainone I wanted to get that one... but didn't get an early enough jump on it. I'll consider it though.
There he is.
Your back lol.
Sorry to hear about your Paw 😭.
May he rip.
+Jack FarmBoy I think I heard that in a cartoon when I was a kid. I think I've probably used it in the reviews several times too.
Advanced Knife Bro
Sounds like somethingbyou would say.
Does it have the same Toys "R" Us feel as the Griptillian? If so, fuck it.
+SteelBearingHand umm... it don't feel any more solid than a griptilian? But it also doesn't have the shitty plastic jimping.
boker patriot?
Satin finish or coated?
I always stick with uncoated if I can.
Blue is fr the reason I never got the bug out until their cf scales came out
Absolutely love this review 👌all well said
Was this knife designed to suck up to Nutnfancy? I'd definitely prefer my Delica.
+Ben Galvin does he complain about heavy shit a lot? I'll be honest I've only watched a few of his videos?
I hope they do a carbon fiber version. Grivory doesn't inspire that much confidence.
I love the cussing, the knife review wasn't too bad either, great channel!
Excellent review, and I loved the... "but this is RUclips and not real life", comment. * Subscribed
Very nice review !!!
Thank you!
I’d take cpm154 over s30v
I like it too!
The knife is not relevant here. It’s the commentary that’s golden.
7,46cm is 2,93in not 3,03in
I don't know how that happened...
Thanks for the entertaining and informative review, gratuitous cussing aside. You said the Endura WAS your favorite knife? What's your fave now?
+Nathan Armstrong I rotate between the 940-1, the Para military 2, and the headesigns poison. The poison is an acquired taste- but for some reason I love it.
Cool man thanks for the reply my friend. I rock the PM2 on the daily and for sure plan on picking up a 940-2. I just looked up that other knife and wow I hate the look of that poison thing! -100 would never carry! Haha rock on though.
Buck110! With G10 and nickel bolsters and s30v :) now that is a strong knife
