I own both of these and both are really GREAT knives IMO! I have used mine as EDC's for a long while now without any issues. They do not break or overly wear under extreme use. I have put mine to extremes at times. lol They never failed. The white really does not get dirty looking with use. Just wipe it down from time to time and it has never looked dirty over major use. I love my Spyderco, Microtech, etc... knives also but the added items, like the satin storage bag, etc... from Benchmade are a really nice feature IMO. Wish Spyderco, Microtech, etc... would start using more than a knife in a plastic bag, in a box. lol Most of these USA knives are not cheaply priced.
I totally agree with your comment on the design of the blade as far as that sharp part that is exposed when the knife is closed...it honestly is what has kept me from purchasing one. The seamless design of other knifes like the 940 or pm2 or 3 is a standard for me now.
I just picked up my Bugout 535BK-2 today and absolutely love it!!!! I live in Texas and want to carry the lightest EDC possible because of the heat. So this goes well with my Glock 43X mos. Great video brotha 👍🏽
Just getting into knives. I got the big idea design tpt slide which is just a tiny utility knife. Looking at the Benchmade Bugout now but not sure which to get. My hands aren’t huge but they’re not tiny either. I will use it mostly at work for boxes. I have to wear dress pants. From the reviews, it sounds like they would both work well because even the full size feels small enough in the pocket. I think I’m going to go with the full size but we’ll see!
It it’s under 5 or 6 oz, weight is a non issue for me.. I actually prefer some heft.. the mini looks awesome tho, especially with some titanium scales. I generally prefer smaller knives.. my edc is a small crk 31 and thats generally about as big as I go. The last knife I tried before the crk was a ZT 0450.. barely any bigger but it still just felt kinda large. After dozens of knives tho, the crk is pretty ideal.. and I’ve definitely never wished that it was lighter.
One time I had my cf elite in my pocket and I'm like "hey where'd it go" and I was looking all over my room searching everywhere and then realized it was in my pocket the whole time. It's so light and low profile that most the time you dont even know it's there
Metal scales feel so much more premium and satisfying than plastics/g10. I remember years ago going from a CKRT M16 aluminum handle to a g10 Gerber and it was such cheap feeling and a let down.
Good video just got the 535/2 unreal the wait . You could put it on a key chain . Still very new , like yesterday. Needs to be broken in , will not flip open yet . And will not drop at all . Heard to loosen the top screw . Think I will wait that out . And use it for a bit , before doing anything like that ... thanks
I have both! Im happy with them but i think price points should be lower🤷🏻♂️ My only issue with my Bugout was it didn’t come razor sharp out of the box!😢
We definitely need some different color options. This knife should be on benchmades website under their custom designs so we can choose scales, thumbstuds, blade coating or satin
the mini has a cericote finish on the blade the only dlc coating on it is on the titanium access lock bar and studs, although the cf elite does have a dlc coated blade. also grivory is what Benchmade calls there FRN polymer but its the same thing and its what the mini has as a handle material as apposed to the cf elite which has the carbon fiber variant. but the mini and the original bugout 535 share the same cheap ass handle. btw great video my friend very well put together
I have a white mini bug-out on the way, and a set of blue G10 scales and blue thumb stud already waiting on it to show up...Scales are left-handed only, super excited about that.
The most legal blade length here in the United States is 3 inches. I don't know why benchmade always makes a mini version with blade smaller than 3 inches.
The most legal blade length in the United States is 3 inches. Benchmade should have only reduced the blade down to that for the mini and thus allowed for a slightly longer handle for us with large glove wearing hands. It's like they've paid zero attention to feedback on the mini griptilian over the years. Then the color choice of white or orange...WTF? 🤬🖕
Grizzly Country I hear ya man. You make some good points. Should have brought legalities up. I think it would have looked a little strange like that but I see your point. Perhaps they will come out with a version like that soon and hopefully they add some other colors! Have you checked out a Para 3?
^ This is incorrect. Blade laws vary considerably from state to state. For example, some states like Oregon allow switchblades but neighboring Washington does not.
Orange mini Bugout just arrived in the mail and Im in love it ❤️
Its great for EDC. Love the size and weight.
I love the Benchmades.

You have the most weird hybrid between an Australian and American accent
I lived in Australia until the age of 18 and have lived in the States for about the same amount of time so it's kind of a must accent.

Thst mini is so sick! And the McKenna is definitely one I'll be checkin out in the future. Great video! Thanks for sharin🤙🏼
The McKenna is so dope. I'll have to review soon. Thanks for watching.

Just added micarta scales to my bugout total game changer

Enjoyed that video. I like them both but think I’ve gotta try the CFElite version.
Hay are u still using both of ur bugouts and if so have u had any issues with the omega springs breaking great video
The cf elite for the full size is now $170. Would you pass on it?

I love the white mini as opposed to the orange mini merely for the fact that the white has a black thumb stud for when I replace scales.
You earned a like at #science. Great review!
Can't talk myself into a Bugout, Kabar Dozier Hunter just a bit heavier for $30...
Definitely picking up a Mini, the original didn't do it for me.. But the mini 👌
Great video once again buddy 👊
The mini is really cool man. I really dig it. Thanks for watching as always brutha.
@@ordinaryaverageguy3233 more than welcome buddy. Thanks for the vid! 👊

Difference in flex and toughness between grivory and CF elite scales?
I have both! Im happy with them but i think price points should be lower🤷🏻♂️ My only issue with my Bugout was it didn’t come razor sharp out of the box!😢
Mine came sharp enough but like you said I'd love it a lot more at about the $80 - $100 price range.
My view on the butteryfly tax is that it is annoying, but I consider it a lefty tax.
Hell yea brother I’m a left too are you also semi ambi?

Here from the future buddy, congrats on a wish come true!
@@felkikid Except the mini isn’t 😡
@@sethrich5998 such a bummer because I want a mini with a partially serrated blade SO badly

Big one is also cerakote
can you list all the knives shown in this video in order shown?
Waiting for a black mini.
I am sure it is coming. I just ordered some black micarta scales for mine.
Ordinary Average Guy where’d u get those?
Try knives plus they sell custom modes on knives like benchmade n spydercos. They sell a mini bugout all blacked out, looks sick af
@@dramace11 check out @RC_Bladeworks on instagram, or check out his website. RC Bladeworks. I have several of his aftermarket scales.
A bottle of black Rit dye is like $4
How’d you get yours to open so smooth?! Got a new one and very stiff
Loosen the big screw
Use it
I don’t like how wide the handles are compared to knives like the Benchmade Fact and 940.
I dont get it. Why is the white mini so dang expensive, or the mini in general? I can get a fullsize cf elite for less than a mini right now.
Which size do you prefer more? I’m debating between the regular and mini...
Are you still debating?
@@DesmondSG Nope, i got the full size bugout n sold it shortly after cuz it felt lackluster compared to the para 3 i got at the same time
AZ summers suck so bad. I too am in AZ, and I prefer carrying lightweight as well, my BM51 makes a great edc balisong, and my bugout is arriving soon!
Do the handles feel any different?

Nice my southpaw brethren. I just put some black micarta on mine. Follow me on instagram to see I'll follow you back. @ordinary_average_guy_edc
Actually the axis lock beats the compression lock for strength and what it takes to reach failure.
Yes it does.
Axis is not great for batoning, dont know if the compression lock holds that better
@@dschNgz You would be stupid to baton with a knife with as thin blade stock as the bugout.
@@MineGames131 if u just have a bugout with u and u do it right, no problem at all. Everyone knows thst its not a knife for hard work

He left BHQ about a year ago. He just designed and released a knife for WE.

I'm a fan of 154cm. Just learn to sharpen s30v is great too.
200 bucks in Canada, hard to drop that on a folder. Nice knife though. Great review.
RIT dye those white scales... purple.
It's really light
Super light for the amount of knife you are getting.
Yeah but i really like the feeling of a metal knife
@@Hightex-lz5ky yeah then this knife is probably not for you my friend. I too like a nice Ti or Al handle especially more HD tasks.
Recessed screws? Yes, we will be happy to do that after we work through out current inventory of 20,000,000 we have on hand.
Not just that but where are you going to recess the screws? If you think the price is high now...
Consider actually cutting things with the knives. It beats just theorizing.
Cutting things with knives? I think that’s the point buddy. Could have been doing it wrong this whole time. Thank you for watching!
You swallow soooooo aggressively it takes you like a whole 3 seconds to Finnish your swallow and then you smack your lips at the end 😂
