Much help, thank you! I have a Stihl HT131 with a similar issue.
Used it about 10 minutes from brand new and chain stopped rotating as you explained. Took mine apart and it is built heavier, nothing broken or worn, but apparently the machine screws joining the power head to the pole and to the saw were all relatively loose. The powerhead and saw were all tight, just the joining of the pole on either end. I reinserted properly and snugged everything up and she works good as new.
Well it is new so it works, nut surprisingly well! I must say in that 10 minutes I was happily surprised how much work I could get done with the pole saw, including some pretty good sized limbs.
    didn't
Thanks again for paying it forward kind Sir!

Thank you! I have a Husqvarna with the same issue. Hopefully it is as simple as your problem turned out to be. Thanks again for paying it forward!

VERY good video! My pole saw has the exact same symptoms as yours, and I suspect this is the fix. Thanks ever so much for sharing it!

Thank you for making this video. I have an ECHO pole pruner that, I suspect, has suffered the same kind of failure.
Question: Does anyone else think it's silly to manufacture a stress-loaded part out of plastic?

I've had mine apart so many times and could not see anything obvious. So I'm going to do what you did and I'm sure that's what it must be and I thank you very much

Nice video.I have a Stihl FS91R that is 1 year old.Engine runs great, but, yesterday, the head of the weed eater will not spin or spin slowly. If I hold the head with my hand and apply throttle,it will not spin.Going to pull it apart, but,it sounds like the problem you had.

Just took my HT131 in for the same thing. I didn't want the hassle of messing with it so I took it to my local Stihl store. Hopefully I will get it back soon.

How much did you end up getting charger to fix it. Debating if I wanna do it my self or have them do it .

It was a simple fix. The rod had slipped out as I recall and the cost was just for labor, about 25 or 30 dollars.@@BeholdCollectiblesLLC

Same thing happen on the combi 111r drive pole extension metal end bit snapped off, cannot find part number for this bit only other than buying the whole inner piece for 40 quid, thinking of getting the local blacksmith to weld the broken bit back on! Thanks for the video.

Thumbs up! Just two comments, 1) it's a good idea to lubricate that shaft before it is reassembled and 2) those screw heads are T27.

Ugh, it’s a plastic piece? 🙄 guess it could be worse. I have same problem with mine of the same model. Hopefully it’s the same fix, I’ll check the gearbox first. If it’s the same plastic piece that’s broken I’ll order 2 for later repairs. Thanks for the vid, although it’s 2 years old it’s the only one I found. 👍🏻

I dont understand why stihl would but plastic there to break tho bad design on their part

The idea is to have a less expensive part fail when exposed to excessive torque than to have the much more expensive drive shaft twist. If that were to happen the unit could not be retracted or extended. That is a much more complicated procedure to repair resulting in a higher repair cost.

I have the same saw. It'll spin the chain, but it stops spinning as soon as I start cutting. Just locks & I have to back out a bit.

I had the same problem myself multiple times. I cannot find the repair parts at this time as covid has made it very difficult to find parts as they cannot get them in stock. So I made a new one out of an old shaft. Follow my channel for the video

Apparently, as of 6-24-2021, Stihl has discontinued that part.
Anyone know of a workaround or an alternative part, the saw is in great shape with the exception of that piece

If this is the case, I wonder if 2-part epoxy might extend that plastic piece's life...

@@1999Valkyrie I just found a couple on eBay but also seen a video where you take a piece of 1/4" keystock, open up the end of the splined part (if not already opened) and press the keystock into the splined part. There seems to be a bit of play where the keystock goes into the flywheel thingy.
I did this and it worked however like I mentioned I found a couple on eBay and purchase them and stuck one of them in.
      Back in business!

Mouse Trap. Build a bridge to the bottle. Put Peanut Butter on the bottle. They jump to the bottle and the bottle rotates they fall in the can. No Trap to reset.
