    You know, even after being a Stihl Gold tech for 10 years, I really appreciate seeing a video like this. I don’t work on pole pruner driveshafts very often, but when I do, it’s like learning it all over again. The Stihl service manual is worthless! I also love how clean you keep your work area and your attention to detail. 👍🏻

    I LOVE the idea of the brush on the end of the whip antenna!! I've repaired probably 100 of the pole pruners and cleaning was always the worst part. Luckily I had access to a hot water pressure washer but even that was a pain in the rear. Your idea is GREAT!!

    Hey dude, Nice job. I did do mine myself and it definitely was a learning experience. I'll tell you it's well worth a hundred labor. The shaft internals aren't cheap either. People should realize you pay 6,7, 8 hundred for these saws,,, keep them dry and clean. Or you're gonna be paying 2 or 3 hundred to repair them. I got mine from a tree guy that had two. Made a deal to keep one for repair of the one he wanted. One was an ht 75, the other a 101. I kept the 101. Had to totally rebuild the 75 shaft and the 101 shaft. He'd left them in the weather for several years. Very sad. Was worth the deal though. U can grease the bearings if they aren't too bad, but new is definitely better. Also had to put carb kits in. But both now work great. Thanks for the video. Well done.

    I've done 3 or 4 of these rebuilds at my shop on Vancouver Island. Same deal, sea air rusts the bearings and blows them out. Usually the outermost bearing (closest to the cutting head) is the one to go first. Happens all the time. Main different is we charge double what you do so it's not uncommon for people to opt into buying a whole new pole assembly ($450ish from stihl) vs $350ish for a rebuild. You clearly understand the tool pal, kudos from Canada.

    @adampeters5277 4 года назад +1

    Awesome educational video I just put back together the shaft on my HT 75 (same shaft), I learned (not to use it in the rain) and let it sit for a while. I think the new model pole saws have plastic bushes so that this doesn't happen. Two of the bearings had rusted and seized. You didn't mention in the video that there is a rivet in the main shaft tube under the rubber hand grip that dictates which end the telescopic main inner shaft goes also the direction that the two slide bearings go in, I just thought I would mention that to save any one else some time figuring these things out. Thanks heaps I would have never sorted it out if I hadn't watched this video.

    • @TheNormalOutdoors

      Wondering about the direction of the slide bearings...have you got an idea how they go?

    • @adampeters5277
      @adampeters5277 3 года назад +2

      @@TheNormalOutdoors From memory the middle and end bearings go in the same direction maybe all of them. Look at the notches on the outside of the bearings they will line up with the sleeve join and rivet in the outer handle/sleeve if you have the outer sleeve around the wrong way the inner wont telescope all the way back in.

    • @TheNormalOutdoors

    • @adampeters5277

      @@TheNormalOutdoors the rivet isn't central on the outer sleeve you will have to insert the inner tube assembly from the other end if the inner assembly doesent go all the way back in as shown in the video.

    • @adampeters5277
      @adampeters5277 3 года назад +1

      also if this is the case you will need to change the two slide bearings direction as they will be hitting that rivet.

    I looked all over the Internet for something like this. I have a HT 75 pole saw same situation one of the bearings froze. I'm a pretty good mechanic but I was stumped a little bit all I could find on the internet was a schematic of a blow up picture did me no good at all. Why can't really say that but there was no instructions at all on how to put it together. Or how to lube it. So I grease the hell out of it thinking that's what it needs. And it just jammed everything up. So after watching your video I cleaned everything up got all the grease and everything out of it and then put it back together. There is a certain way in a certain process in which to put it back together. If you skip on them processes you learn real quick that you shouldn't have. All I have left is the motor to be put on and then the gear Head for the chain hopefully it runs I'm sure it will thank you so much Lester. But you could have said one thing,,, is to follow the the bearing pattern that's on the small extension itself then you put the other two in that specific order not in the order of where the bearing is on the engine side. Because I did that and I had to take it back apart and turn the bearings around they have to correspond with the pole that is the extension . Other than that your video is great thank you so much again.
