    Yup, that's a win. I'm shopping around for one of these. The video is very helpful. Thanks.

      One thing I didn't cover that I should have is the difference between the shafts. This one has the original style heavy duty shaft. It is heavier but, much better built. The newer style square tube is lighter and more like a glorified weedeater shaft. I would not recommend buying one of those.

      I see Stihl tools used here. Where can these be purchased by the general public?
      Also, the feeler gauge you showed. I have standard design ones for larger engines. Can those be used?

      @@maccurtinequipmentservice8915 Your local Stihl dealer can order those T-Handles. One is 8mm. part# 5910 290 2420. the other is T27 torx. part# 5910 890 2415. They are both VERY high quality. They also sell a T27 for your 1/4" impact but I don't know the part number.
      The feeler gauge comes with a valve cover gasket if I'm not mistaken. If you want to use a traditional .010 feeler gauge you'll have to trim the tip to fit in the slot of the rocker arm. You should prolly just order the feeler gauge from Stihl tho....
      Thanks, Rich

    Thanks, the info really helped me on the used HT 131 I bought. Any help for straightening the extended shaft that has a slight bend. I thought about removing it and forcing a pipe through it. Any other thoughts?

    great information, I do not own one but I am intrigued by your teachings. one quesiton, how do you tell when valve has "botton out" to insert the gauge. Thanks and God Bless

      I watch the rocker arm as it bottoms out and there is a little dwell there. I slide the feeler gauge in and find the point of least resistance, then make the lash adjustment.

    • @davidruiz5383
      @davidruiz5383 Год назад

      Is the dwell on both sides. Thanks

    Where did you buy the saw mount/vice ?

    • @mitaraho
      @mitaraho 2 года назад

      I haven't watched the video yet but a stump chainsaw vice immediately comes to mind.... About $35-50 if I'm not mistaken.

    • @angelociurleo9375
      @angelociurleo9375 2 года назад

      @Tim O'Hara that vice is far away from a "stump vice"... stihl sells one similar for about $700. Scott kunz has one for about $300. They are super handy if you do a lot of saw work

    Richard I have an ht 131 that is new and won’t idle. If I let off the trigger it dies. Any advise ?

    • @johnb8956
      @johnb8956 Год назад +2

      In order:
      Check spark plug for fouling, replace if necessary
      Check air filter for excess dirt build up
      Check valves for the gap. This is done in the video
      Carburettor screws, specifically low and idle screws (if you don’t know what to do with them, the manual tells you what to do to reset)
      Hope that all helps

    Four stroke???

    • @richardflagg3084
      @richardflagg3084  2 года назад

      Yes. Still runs on mixed gas. Nylon cam gear, valves, push rods and rocker arms. Lots of moving parts for a handheld piece of equipment.

      @@richardflagg3084 very odd. First time I've heard about this 4 mix engine design. Guy at work brought me a HT 131 to see if I could fix it. Looks like it got water in the exhaust and rusted the rings. Then he yanked on it to free it up. Now it has zero for compression.

      @@JetSkiBuyFixPlaySellChannel Wonder if there is a valve open? Regardless, water in the engine is not going to have a pretty outcome.

      @@richardflagg3084 Hello, I have a fs 131 weed trimmer. I'm not able to remove the carburetor because of the linkage. How do I remove the linkage from the white piece that connects to the throttle cable?

    • @richardflagg3084
      @richardflagg3084  2 года назад +1

      @@isaiahmmosleysr.7329 It's not just you. That throttle rod is a bear to remove. Slide the carb towards the end of the studs, open the throttle shaft to wide open and there will almost be enough wiggle room to pry the rod off the white piece, You'll need to use some needle nose pliers to "flex" the throttle linkage.
