      There's definitely tons more tools, and everything is nested in a way that makes it kind of hard to find stuff. Google and the actual Clip Studio documentation are your friend.
      Also, if you can do everything you need in Procreate, that software is totally fine. Just make sure you back up your work because if the app gets unistalled or your iPad breaks, your work is gone. Guess how I know. :(

    Ty for the tutorial! Where did you find the button to change the palettes to a tab instead of pop up? For whatever reason I can’t find it and I hate when it’s goes away after I start drawing especially when I’m testing out brushes lol

    • @MCollingsArt
      @MCollingsArt  Год назад +1

      while the palette is a pop up, drag it by the top bar to one of the edges, you should see a red bar appear. Then you can snap the palette to that side and it should remain while you draw.
      there's also an option to toggle on and off for the things in the menu bar also if you want to have it be either persistent or a pop up depending on the project. You tap and hold or right click on one of the icons in the menu bar and switch between the two options.

    Aww, thank you for your tutorial! You have a lot of great tips! It was just a little hard to follow because the voiceover and what's happening on screen were a bit out of sync (e.g. Talking about changing a setting in preferences or such when the screen had already navigated through multiple settings a while ago). I mean, it'd be fine for experienced users, but beginners might not know where the menus/tools are and would need a slower pace. Great work, though!

      Hahah no problem, I'm still responding to questions on these videos.
      The lasso tool is located in the first set of the Tools menu in the default set up. There are multiple tools in the sub tool group, so the icon might look like a dotted line square or a dotted circle. The documentation calls this Tool Palette the Marquee Tool. Here's a link to the doc for more info about it.

    It’s my dream to become a digital artist. I’ve been using procreate because it’s easy for me and I’ve been scared to try Clip Studio because I don’t know if I’ll be able to afford the PRO every month and everything is so confusing for me. But I see that Clip Studio is more detailed and has the types of brushes that I want to use to make it easier to draw with my art style. I really want to learn how to use Clip Studio but even with someone explaining it to me, I don’t understand. I’m so sad, I don’t know what to do. :(

    • @MCollingsArt
      @MCollingsArt  Год назад +1

      Clip Studio does have a lot of tools for comic making, animation, and for digital painting that Procreate doesn't. However, its really hard to argue with a $10 one time buy and the functionality of Procreate. There are a ton of professional, working artists using Procreate exclusively. You should use the program you already have and keep working on expanding your skills first. If later on, there are tools you need, maybe look into expanding into another program like Clip. Check out the True Grit Texture Supply and Retro Supply Co brushes for procreate and see if you can find the brushes you are wanting there. At the end of the day, the best art tools are the ones you will actually use and practice with and I think Procreate is really good at making an easy to use platform.

    • @MCollingsArt

      Hey! Yes, you can put the layers menu off on its own dock. On the tablet it comes in a stack with the layer properties, tools, etc. To Move it, make sure your palette locks are turned off (under the Window>Palette Dock) and then tap and drag the layer menu icon (looks like a stack of cheese slices)

      Most of the tips in the video should still apply. Clip Studio is pretty good about keeping the workspaces consistent from PC to iPad.

      They are different tool windows.
      You can:
      1. stack them on top of one another so that they have tabs to change over.
      2. stack them next to each other in the side bar.
      3. stack them as icons on the side bar so that you click or tap to open them as a pop up window.
      That's just the way the software is developed. Hope that helps.

    • @MCollingsArt

      Hey Daisy the crazy, my best guess would be that you have the brush size palette on your Palette Tab Bar. If you click away when this bar is set to Pop-Up, the palette will disappear. You can right click (or tab and hold for iPad) on the brush size icon (looks like a pen with a target) and select "Display palette as tab" or you can click and drag the palette out and add it to another area of your workspace where it will be permanent.

    Would this work on an android tablet as well?

      I honestly have no idea. I have never used Clip Studio on android. Best bet would be look up some reviews of people using Clip on that system? 😊

      @@cavemankira7972 That's amazing! I'm so glad the video helped. I was thinking it likely would, Clip is really good about keeping the experience consistent. Last thing I want to do is give anyone incorrect info tho. :)

      @@MCollingsArt I get that for sure. Always better safe than sorry haha. Video really helped me though. Downloaded clip art yesterday, yesterday was also the very first time I’d done digital art. But I love it so far.

    Your video would be better without the music, for me at least. I want to concentrate on what you say and the music distracts me.

      there's no promo in this video. I paid for my iPad Pro and Clip Studio Paint out of pocket. Same with all the tools I mention. When there is a promo, I include the tag.
