I like how you make every car seem like the best thing ever made
It’s like he sponsors every car
Tracer 3006 for real 😂 makes me wish I owned every car he goes over
IKR after this video I bought a trailblazer, and I didn’t even consider it before
@@juhberkey8067 I got 2 trailblazers one which is my daily the other a which is a project not cause of this video tho I just happed to get a trailblazer cause I needed a car and they’re cheap and most of em can be found in close to pristine condition. I bought the other cause I’m fixin it it’s a 2005 trailblazer LS EXT and this one suffers from the common issues that these cars with a inline 6 suffer from, compression, and spark issues, along with a few cooling codes I’ve ironed out it’s in great condition on the interior and exterior just has mechanical issues I got it for 600 bucks my other trailblazer I got it for 1,000 and this one is a 2003 trailblazer LS EXT in amazing condition interior, exterior, and mechanically as well it was cheap due to the mileage on it. All in all the trailblazer is not a bad car at all, reliable, comfy, powerful. What year trailblazer you got and trim ?
@@alfredoherrera5150 2003 Trailblazer LS, it’s a normal length, and it had 179k miles on it then. Now, after 11 months of ownership, it’s got 185k miles, and it’s comfy
"It's a truck you can smash in!"
Never change James
Hahaha
It is and I have. Had a 77 2WD now I have an 89 4WD. Not Chalet’s but still smash capable. For the record They stopped making Blazers that mattered after 1991. I don’t know what the rest of that shit was.
@@deegan727
I found a 2000 white chevy blazer full of rust
And deflated bf Goodrich tires and a
Broken passenger side mirror .
If I had the money I thought it
Would be a cool restoration side project.
When you find clk on donut
He didn't mention it but the military version is also diesel
Good old CUCV and Blazer! Hahaha! Had to work on them!
First vehicle I ever owned was a '98 Blazer LS. Great little truck, got me out of snow filled MN ditches and snow banks. Drove through blizzards and never really had an issue. Put about 300,000 miles on it before the engine needed to be retired.
An engine is fixable. I'm pretty sure the world record of a single car with the highest mileage is 3 million miles. So it's impressive to get that high and still be usable with a few fixes.
Legend has it, Pumphreys Dad still lives in a Blazer Chalet
Ded
Legend also has it, that was where Pumphrey was.... Ya know.... Made
No I don’t
James' dad actually died a while back. There are a few posts on his Insta about it
Nice one😂
I remember my dad's chevy blazer back in the 1990's it had a 6in lift on 38.5 in tire, a b&m 144 supercharger, a 292 cam, roll cage, and a bunch of other cool stuff! I will always love the BLAZER
My friends and I had an older Mechanic friend who let us rip it up in his 76 Blazer. 454 built up, 6 inch lift and locking diffs front and back. We could crush trees, climb walls and still do 80 on the highway. What an animal
You probably have one of the most interesting automobile channels on RUclips. I had 2000 Blazer with the 4.3 Vortech. I probably paid for that truck twice with all the repairs I incurred. The thing eventually started eating fuel pumps at the rate of 2 per week for a while. Ironically, I have a couple of friends that both own a couple of the 1989-1994 body style and they have no trouble with them.
Great video as always!
My dad had a 69 Blazer with 44 in Mickey Thompson's on it and a big block 400. Also had a 6 inch suspension lift and he has pictures of him pegging the throttle in 1st gear and lifting the front end up 10 inches. The truck was a beast. I've always wanted one myself. He said he used to take curbs at 40mph no problem.
GOD. take curbs
Buuuut enough about your mom
DDMSteveB haha. My mom's dead.
Cassidy Keen yeah but it was still an awesome truck.
Congrats want a cookie
No mention of the trailblazer ss?
This was a water downed version of all that we need to know.
I would have liked to see a sentence or two about it. It's quite popular here in the SF Bay area
It’s not a blazer!
I know right, they showed a clip but no mention of a LS2 powered suv
Or what about the exteme or ZR2 off road package S10
I had a 1985 s10 blazer. 2 door, 4 wheel drive, tahoe edition. Came with a 2.8l engine with a 2bbl rochester verajet carb. I loved that truck!
Blazer full size 4x4 name wasnt changed to Tahoe til 1995 ... I have a 1994 blazer full size 4x4
I have a 1996 GMC Yukon 2 door (blazer)
They changed the name blackandgold because in 1995 they dropped the s10 on s10 blazer. 1995 and up s10 blazers was called just blazer. I'm guessing so that we wouldn't be confused. 1994 was the last year for the s10 blazer and the last of the square body style. 1994 WAS the first year of the round body style for the s10. The blazer didn't change till the next year 1995.
@blackandgold51 Totally agreed. My truck is the '92 GMC Yukon, and all I want to do is call it my blazer. my dad had 2 blazers when I was a kid so I always wanted one in his memory.
the best blazer of all time
The name didn't change cuz I have a 2003 2 door blazer
RamBLAZERS??
i love you
my first truck was a 88 K5, it had a 350, 68,000 miles. cleanest Wisconsin Blazer you’ve ever seen, no rocker or wheel well rust. I sold it two years ago and i miss it more and more everyday.
Wish GM watched this video before they made this new trash pussified crossover blazer
I hear ya dude, why tf would they ruin such a happy car with a gay ass crossover ford exlorer abomination?
@@antwontwontwon2378 I mean it makes more Money to people who don't care about Cars let alone of roading.
They need to use zr2 Colorado to do another Blazer
At least the Explorer looks cool...the 2020 Blazer is ugly as fuck, hahaha. Like, what the hell were they going for? It looks like a Nissan Murano and a Maxima had a baby with a trailblazer xD
Its basically a traverse with a different name 😂
This S10 Blazer became quite a legend here in Brazil, specially because, for us, what you guys call a "small" truck is pretty much a medium-sized one.
i grew up riding in the back of a blazer like the one in the thumbnail. shit was so 2000s
JKU lab my mom had one, same red but a 4 door. 4X4 stopped working. We just gave it to my uncle who shipped it down south and used it for parts
i was conceived in one
I had one a few years ago Best the fuck out of it! Loud shit man lol
No mention of the trailblazer SS figured you would jump on that but great episode love a blazer
James Webb I was hoping for the same thing the Trailblazer SS is so badass it was the higher performance model for the Trailblazer
I was looking for the zr2
4:00 The S-10 Blazer was released in "1982", not 1992
Yeah, I got my license in an '88 S-10 Blazer, so they definitely came out in '82 along with the '82 S-10 Pickup which was the first thing I learned to drive in.
chrisv4096 Yep, he got his facts wrong.
He also forgot about 4.3 v6 in the 1 gen besides when he talked about the turbo v6 but he didn't say what v6 it was
Now I'm doubting everything I've learned from these videos.
@Wang Chung I have the 2002 zr2, which is a cool blazer. But I believe it was the last of the blazer run until the dumbasses as GM stopped making the blazer. Millions have sold, they were good on the cost, they were everywhere, and then GM kills it. So then everyone went import.
Why would they kill off such a huge name that sold like crazy?
I will never understand it.
Glad to see this channel finally getting big like it deserves. Extremely high quality videos.
Left out the most important blazer..... THE ZR2!!!!!
No the xtreme!
Aside some suspension tweaks what's the real difference?
@@thatonedude5237 the zr2 has a 3in lift 31in tires flares special wheels 2 doors instead of 4 skid plates. Its similar to the z71 but taken to the next level
michael Pennison Okay, what is the difference aside from the suspension and cosmetic modifications. I owned a zr2 and my buddy owned an LT and I didn't notice much of a difference.
@@thatonedude5237 there really isnt any performance mods or anything like that like i said its really just a z71 to the next level. Its just a more suited offroad vehicle compared to the other models
S-Series Blazer debuted in 1982. I used to have one. Love the channel! Now the Blazer is gone just like Pumphreys dad.
Miguel T the Trailblazer is still sold overseas on the new Colorado platform
Justin Noker True, but not the Blazer. 😎
Miguel T spiritual successor at least I guess, better than the Traverse that was the actual replacement
The S series truck debuted in 1981, the Blazer came out in 87. I've had several, enough of them that I've lost count.
Josh B I had a 1985 S-10 Blazer. In the USA they debuted in '82. 😜
Hell yeah....I'm happy to see you guys showing some love for the blazer.
I had a '97 Blazer. The seal on the master cylinder broke right as I was at a 90 degree turn. I rolled and totaled it. A few days later, I bought an '02 S10 ZR2. I loved that Blazer.
I have a 97 blazer! 😁
Not a single "like my dad" joke 😞
the blazer was so popular, I don't understand how his dad didn't have one
There was no Jessica jokes either.
Do NSX next!
Was hoping you mentioned that dope ass Blazer variant in the thumbnail cause I almost bought one like that. Love the way that particular type drove. Big wheels, wide stance, high stature. I might still try and find me one.

I'd love to see an Up to Speed on the M5's
Pretty cool to watch this as I bought a 1990 K-5 blazer at 14 and have been working on it since.
Some have already pointed out that the 2DR S-10 Blazer was introduced in 1982 not 1992. The K5 full-size Blazer actually became a 2DR Tahoe/Yukon at the very end of its lifespan when the 4DRs were introduced in the mid 90s. Most young people are going to associate the Blazer nameplate with the S-10 variants. Also, the 4.3 V6 and its 190hp/250 lb-ft were quite competitive for the era. My first car was a 2001 4.3/L35 equipped 4x4 S-10 pickup with a 3.73 final drive gear ratio. Fuel economy was abysmal, but words cannot express how much more low-end trailer towing power was available from this setup vs. the 2018 200hp+ 4cyl engines people are comparing to this powertrain.
Agreed! I still have a 2003 gmc sonoma with the 4.3 and it is amazing. I always compare its capabilities with todays mid-size trucks and people always get butt hurt when they see these old push rod engines can tow/haul just as much as their new trucks can
If it's an automatic, just be sure to tow in 3 and not D. Not a huge deal but I believe it's what the owner's manual recommends. GM engines are stronger than their transmissions.
Will S the 4.2 inline 6 in the 2002+ trailblazers is 285hp and 280 sum lb ft or torque
That’s what these kids don’t understand concerning these older rigs. They were tuned for low end power. Geared right, they were stump pullers
How you gon talk bout a Chevy with a mustang in the background. The disrespect is real
cause ford will always be behind chevy
Cause I just saw a 3ss trailblazer whip a 5.0 mustang haha
@@jamesearlcash7725 ayy
James Earl Cash meanwhile sales say otherwise...
ZenZory Overload ford is still behind ;)
First gen S10 blazers game with, 2.5L 4 cylinders, 2.8L v6 and 4.3 V6's.
You also didnt mention the trail blazer SS with the 6.2L LS engine from the factory.
Lil Gruvy skrrrt i think the ss had a 6.0L LS2
Yes the as came with a 6.0 liter Ls2.
Man I miss my blazer.
Tomas Charles wht happen 2 it?
Not me, I love driving it sucka
My dad has a trailblazer, it’s had a few problems here and there but nothing major which is remarkable considering since he bought it used in 2008 he’s gone quite literally a million and a half miles in the thing traveling from the southernmost tip of Texas to Washington DC to San Francisco and back to the tip of Texas basically almost every year and all the important bits still work
Bronco next please
just watch this video on a lower quality: essentially the same thing
jack from online Lord.
Jaaarno jack! 😂 you'll hurt a lot of bronco chaps
Audi UR Quattro next?
C'mon Donut! I've been asking for months now!
I’m still driving a 1989 GMC Jimmy S-15. It’s fantastic
A friend just gave me a 96 blazer yesterday and I love it
Do one of the famous Lada's next time!
The VAZ/Lada Niva or the 2101 until 2107 are the most common types of Lada's to mention in "up to speed". I mean these are legends. For example; The Lada 2107 is kept in production until 2012 and underneath still stayed the 2101 with small changes made overtime! Even the 2018 "Urban" is still the Niva from the past!
The TBSS deserves its own up to speed.....maybe an up to speed on all things SS like the TrailBlazer, silverado, Cobalt, Camaro and Impala.
and Monte Carlo!
Loved your video!! I currently own a '03 Chevy Blazer
Y’all need to do a segment like this for the Chevy/Geo Tracker!! Those little things were awesome and really were capable
Keyai Banzai!! Suzuki Samurai...
I remember there is a way to remap your ECU on S10 Blazer. I think it was take off the battery for several minutes and when you put it back on. The ECU will record the way you driving and it suits the way you drive to the ECU.
Am I the only one who noticed when they said 'to better compete with the new Grand Cherokee' they showed an *XJ Cherokee* instead of a ZJ Grand Cherokee?
Not at all, I was gonna say the same thing.
That irritated me... To say the least
Noticed it too 👍🏻
That really bothered me, considering I'm an xj owner lol
MY BRO BRO!!! Please do an Up to Speed on the Ram Truck. The D50 to Megacab. You’re the man. Keep on keepin on.
For the record, the full size v8 Blazer and 6.4 diesel turbo package continued until 1994 under the Tahoe chassis (but shortened and with 2 doors). It was then renamed the Tahoe in '95

I've had my 2000 Blazr2 since 2002. Sunroof, AutoTrac, original spare, Bose with 6 disc changer in the console, ect. It has 158k miles. I've changed the battery, alternator,, starter, intake mani gasket, fuel pump ( several times) fuel filter, a/c with hoses and the remote oil filter block. Is fun to drive and I've taken care of it. It is stone stock, Indigo Blue
Currently got a new blazer so glad i subbed to yall i was about to give up on working on it.but after seeing the bad ass roots i will push on videos on the project will be on my chevy gang channel wish me luck it dont start...yet
When you brought up the trailblazers I though you were going to mention the SS version
Actually the s10 blazer started in the 80's and also had a 4.3, I have an 89 s10 blazer
Southern Mechanic it wasn't a launch option, which is what he was probably talking about
Southern Mechanic you have LS swap it
#LSLYFE
Bird screamer69 it would be nice to
I actually had a 1984 s10 blazer 2.8L 5 speed that little the went everywhere lol
Ayy! Same.
I currently own a 1998 blazer working and getting a new 4.3 put in it I had a 2000 s10 and it blew up aswell I love both of ‘em
i've had 3 K-5 Blazers from 72' to 85' miss the trucks "you can smash in", but don't miss the gas mileage. taking the top off took 2 guys, but was worth it! keep on keepin' on!
I hate to be that guy James. But the Chevy Blazer is a vehicle I can see your dad owning when he left you to buy cigarettes and milk. Anyways, thank you for giving me a better appreciation for the Blazer.
Don't talk about his jealous!
Makes sense
Toyota celica *next* !
they already did the supra and mr2 so i doubt they would also do the celica
Alex O'Boyle doubt? That would complete the trio Brother line up lmao, They don’t call the Celica the Supra’s little brother for nothing.
samuel ariza exactly
The celiac and actually the supras father. Without the celiac there would not have been a Supra since the mk1 is literally called the celica Supra
Joe Gray Witch goes to show that we need an UTS episode on it.
My father owned a 73 Blazer and I own a 79. I love these damn trucks!
Dam I member taking of the top with 35’s and a brand new 350 crate engine....James your taking me back man, good memories
Up to speed on the Dakota would be awesome. You could throw the Durango in there too. The Dakota RT was kick-ass and deserves some mention.
I don't know why I'm surprised to see the chevy blazer in this series
i loveeeeee my blazer. the top heavy aspect is the only downside but for my first truck i think it’s neat. super reliable as well
My Dad still got his 1996 Chevy Blazer LS and it's doing great! Got close to 300K on it, but still running AOK !!!
Escort please
YES! So he can also talk about the Focus and the Mazda-Ford cooperation!
Can i just get the honda nsx?
Owned a 97 & 04 S10 Blazers (Eaton G80 rear diffs stock, upgraded spring packs/shocks/mild torsion crank for a 3/4" front lift, with ZERO effect on ball joints/suspension/control arm wear, no keys, just a crank on the 2 bolts). No complaints. Jumped it, took it odd road everywhere (snowmobile/atv trails included). Bullet proof engine, CHEAP AS HELL PARTS because of the astros/jimmies/safaries, easy as shit to work on (worst thing was cold chiseling the OEM ball joints rivets to bolt on the new ones, but really not a big deal at all). Not a mechanic myself, but with the haynes manual, I could do EVERYTHING in my laneway, never took either too a mechanic ONCE. Sold the 4 dr 97 with over 350 000kms on it (100,000 kms on logging roads in Northern Ontario), with no issues to be found. And unfortunately the 04 got written off by an idiot. The 04 had a lower gear ratio, and 2 drs, and was actually more fun with the shorter wheel base, drove it coast to coast, dogs loved it, folding seats made it great, towed my boat no problem, they were a great lil SUV. Still wish I had it... Mind you I have an 07 FJ Cruiser now, and, well, it's a tank, but also it's a silly vehicle for my general use case at this point in my life, and drinks fuel like I drink beer (A LOT). Also the 07 FJ was over double the price with 150 000kms on it, and the 04 Blazer was better for it's ability to actually fit places... Plus I paid under half the price, with 50, 000kms, and 6 months left on the warranty. SOOOO... Still rather my blazer.
I live in a small town in Alberta, and we had a car show in our town. Someone had a factory stock white Typhoon. Fyi, GM made about 2,800 Typhoons in total. Was a lovely thing to see.
BRONCO And EXPLORER up to speed
lol the explorer was shit
Alan_Akbar yes but it had a smooth smell
Lol It really is shit.
The bronco is a stock trophy truck, unlike the explorer, that only explored parking lots and highways lol

Ifan Ramadhana opel blazer indo
Deans0590 I No they aren't a "failed" car. They are one of few popular upmarket SUV at that time. They were known as a "manager's company car" in your country. They still had a loyal supporting base of fan. Beside if they are a "failed car" how can they sell and assemble it in your country for almost a decade.
PS: Please use English as this is an US based video channel.
Ifan Ramadhana sorry im just a cheeroke fan sorry sorry sorry
cuz Opel was and still is owned by GM
Opel frontera? We had one

nightc1 well I mean, he could probably do a whole video on it there were so many rebadges of the Trailblazer, the Envoy, the Ascender, the 9-7, the Rainier, the Bravada, there was even a Hummer concept of the platform, heck I'm probs forgetting one there were so many
There was the TrailBlazer, Envoy, Rainer, Bravada, Ascender, and the Saab something rather on the same platform lol. And according ti wikipedia the GM mini trucks Canyon and Colorado were also on the same platform which means the H3 was too.
TJC450 actually, if you check the wiki page for GMT355, it specifically states sespite close numberings the platforms share almost nothing
