I seen a 3000gt in 1991 that could go 200 mph and that was unheard of then, he said the only thing that could catch him on the highway was the radio. I didn’t even know what a 3000gt was. He blasted off out of the gas station so fast.
I am lucky enough for my best friends father to have one of these cars, and my friend does not have a driver’s licence. It is the one without the sport mode and it is naturally aspirated. So no turbo. It is still a fast car. A really fast one. I have sat behind the wheel of that car, and it is a beast.
There were a few errors but overall an awesome video!! - Pop-ups left in '94 not '93 - The crazy big combat wing and Supra-esque front end didn't come until the last year, '99 - You forgot to explain the hydraulic 4 wheel steering! (another thing that is only becoming mainstream lately) - There was a Spyder with a retractable hardtop in 95 and 96 That was only the second car to have one in 36 years! - Aaaand, despite being so heavy it managed to keep up with the Supra and RX7! Source? Proud owner of a '93 3000GT ;)
Whitestorm It’s an awesome car but I remember when Motor Trend did a high speed test of all the super cars out there back in the late 90’s and the 3000GT VR4 was the slowest of the bunch. To me, I don’t consider 150mph slow.
I blame the main company. I mean, Mitsubishi is a massive corporation with it's hands in finance, electronics, aviation, naval and automotive. I don't what happened to cause the main company to cease the love they've been giving the automotive arm but it better stop fast. Since Nissan bought a controlling stake, it's been nothing but crossovers and blasphemy.
Thursday used to just be the day that was almost Friday. It was a day that was always almost good, but had no identity of it's own. I always hated thursdays. Then James Pumphrey came into my life, and changed Thursdays forever. Now, I'm more excited for Thursdays than I am for the weekend.
I’ve watched this video many times over the four years that it’s been out. The 3000gt is one of my favorite cars of all time. I’m back today to happily report that I finally managed to get my hands on one 😁
@@averagesteam8426 I’ve driven some really cool cars srts z28 an m3 etc. I just bought my 3000 a couple days ago and already by far the greatest car I’ve ever driven the way it glues to the road while bending corners is like nothing else
Yea Mitsubishi is so sad now. The Pajero/Montero was a killer small suv. It has a stock suspension seat which still doesn't exist in vehicles made for off road like The Wrangler, Xterr or 4Runner. It had a cool design, different wheel bases and very strong axles. The 3.0L was a sweet engine too. Lancer Evo is all gone that thing had heritage and amazing tech. All they have now is a good Warranty
There is a *TON* of misinformation in these comments. I'd first like to say that I am a Z32 TT guy, and own two, but want credit given where its due. I co own a shop that specializes in 90's JDM cars, and have been around all 4 cars since the early 90s. *The 3000GT VR4 was the fastest accelerating of the 4 in a straight line easily beating the 300ZX TT and RX7 TT by 2 car lengths from dig to top speed and any speed roll and the Supra TT could only pass it after 100mph and beats the VR4 from a higher speed roll* All 300GT VR-4s have a Twin-Turbocharged 24V 3.0L V-6. In the US, 1990 to 1993 (1g) VR-4s were rated at 300hp@6000-RPM and 307lb.tq@2500-RPM with a 5 speed manual with long gearing - 3rd gear runs oil 120mph. The 1994 to 1999 (2g) VR-4s were (under)rated at 320hp@6000-RPM and 315lb.tq@2500-RPM with an aggressively geared 6 speed manual. In Japan, all GTO Twin-Turbos were rated at 276hp due to the Gentleman's Agreement in Japan. Japan also had the GTO MR, which weighed a bit less than the normal GTO TT and had an optional closer ratio 6 speed manual. It beat the R32 / R33 Skyline GTR in a straight line: ruclips.net/video/S7T4wJOW3wY/видео.html (R32 Skyline GTR vs GTO MR) / ruclips.net/video/ukVsqR66ldE/видео.html (R33 Skyline GTR vs GTO MR). European GTO TT's had 13g turbos for the autobahn and were rated at 280bhp, and were capable of 12 second quarter miles stock. *Bone stock with a correct launch, '90 to '93 3000GT VR-4s run 0 to 60 in 4.9 to 5.4s and the 1/4m in 13.6s to 13.9s @99mph to 102mph. The quarter mile time is leagues faster than the 300ZX TT (13.9s @102.0) and RX7 TT (14.1s @ 99.9mph) and ties the Supra TT (13.5 @ 106.9mph). This is a good example of how the VR4 fairs against it's competition in a straight line - it's clearly much faster than the Z32 TT and FD3 TT, and is as fast as the Supra TT until over 100mph. www.motortrend.com/news/mitsubishi-3000gt-vr4/ - 1997 3000GT VR-4, 0 to 60 in 4.8s, 1/4m in 13.6s. They launched at 6,000-RPM, launching at full redline nets better times. BOTTOM LINE: The 3000GT VR-4 has GT in the name for a reason. It is meant to travel long distances quickly in all weather conditions, which it does very well; it was never meant for the track, that's why Mitsu made the MR version in Japan. It was somewhat unfairly compared to the 300ZX TT / RX7 TT / Supra TT as far as handling. It still manages to pull .98g on the skidpad, and has great brakes, but it is very nose heavy and understeers at the limit. The Z32 TT easily out handles it, as does the RX7 TT and Supra TT due to their RWD - remember, the Z32 TT and Supra TT were also heavy beasts. The 3000GT VR4 is still impressive today, even in stock form - a stock 1994 and up VR4 will dust a 2017 Civic Type R (seen it, the VR4 had 2 car lengths on the CTR by 140mph-ish), beat a 2018 Focus RS from a dig / roll, and also beat a 2018 Golf R with the manual transmission. I've seen all of the above races, my shop is now getting a lot of those 3 cars coming in. Do they handle well? Not really. Are they fast in a straight line and comfortable to drive? Absolutely.
300ZX TT SWAP not handling that well? Honestly when I drove one a couple weeks ago I felt like that was the greatest asset- sure, it’s not throwable like an rx7 but the stability through the turns was crazy for early 90’s (the z16a, that is)
Sovietkitty i drive a z32 tt, so i find awd a bit boring. To each their own. A bit too nose heavy for me. Id say its straight line speed is its best asset.
300ZX TT SWAP Actually the handling is better than people think. With the right tires and suspension setup, the car handles pretty good. Predictable understeer with most of the weight in the front, but the awd system provides tremendous grip!
I blame the media/import magazines, they focused too much on popular/common cars like the GT-R, RX-7, Supra, 350z and etc. If they focused on other vehicles instead, maybe these cars would maintain a strong interest in tuning culture. (I'm looking at you Super Street...)
Alex Medrano Tuning culture doesn't hype them because they aren't good tuner cars. Do you think there is some sort of bias against Mitsubishi? The same era Z32 300zx TT was super hyped when it came out and won sports car of the year awards all the time. No one talks about them now except Nissan fans like me because they aren't good tuner cars at all. The VR4 is in the same category. Not to mention they are considered money pits because all that tech doesn't age well and they break all the time. That is why they aren't hyped and overpriced in my opinion, but that's also something you should be happy about if you are a fan right?
@@bunguschungus2572 it was sarcasm but if you want an actual opinion I don't like Subaru no particular reason really besides their way to popular in my area good cars I don't like them not my cup of tea and no I don't bash people who do but will say stars burn out and die but diamonds last forever
I had a dream one day that for some weird reason my dad bought me this car. I cherrished that car to the highest extent and worked on it, tuned it out with my dad. It was a white colored one with pop up headlights and manual ( I can't even drive manual lol) eventually after racing people in my city with it I remember my dad just smiling seeing me happy with it. I think that car really bonded us. Since then I can't see the 3000GT the same, I never even cared for it before. I want to own one and have my dad ride with me, hunting for it till this day.

Bilbo Faggins Yea its a old sports car. Most sports cars are beat to piss with age. No surprise they are broken. A bunch of race boys dont buy them. I'd take a VR4 over a supra any day.
epoxeclipse Compared to the competition at the time (Skyline, Sti, Evo, etc) which were all around 3000-3200 lbs it was just a bigger/heavier car. But I know what you're saying. I drove an e39 540i for a while and that was 3800lbs with about the same hp/tq as the 3000gt.
Why not? The power to weight ratio of the Sti or evo compared to the GTO are similar. I was just stating the fact that awd turbo cars of that time period were lighter. And many people have tuned all of those cars to whatever hp numbers you can dream of.
Kenny K for one the EVO and STI aren't in that class or price point. The 3000GT VR4 is comparable to the Corvette. The Corvette was competition. Along with the 300zx, Supra, and NSX. They were all in the price point and marketed as a luxury GT cars. Where the Evo and STI were really cars marketed to kids.
@@goldwolf0606 both have. Still remember first they built the Evo3... then it crashed. Later the Mitsubishi lady boss (the one who slapped the door on Jackie hand in the factory :D) sponsored Jackie 2 set of GTOs.
I miss my GTO. It was a very odd car. The active suspension and aero made a very mild difference by themselves. You could feel its weight. While it *only weighed 3800lbs, it felt like 4800lbs cruising around town in a Crown Vic. But that rear steering, active aero, and active suspension all came together at 50+mph making it feel like a 2800lb car. Another fun fact, that stock steering wheel weighed like 20+lbs. You could feel the inertia of it when driving! It was also so large you couldn't pass your hand under it when it a sportier position (I liked it down when in go fast mode). So I replaced it with a smaller, lighter MoMo (mo like LesLes) wheel, and it punched me in the face when it finally slipped off when removing it because it was so heavy. But going from a 20+lb wheel to a smaller
I owned 5 different 3000GTs VR-4, no all 5 at ones, a 92/93/94/95 and 96. The best one was the 95, I destroyed from Mustang Saleen, to Cobras, to Porsche 928S, to Nissan 300 TT, to Mazda RX7 TT, to anything, and everything I race. With the AWD/ASW system, in curves, and mountain driving, the car was untouchable. Everyone saw the rear end of the 3000GT driving away. The car turning G forces was awesome, I felted the G force on my neck, and the tires didn't make any sounds of getting off gripped. The only problem I ever had with the first one, the 92, I tried to do "power shifting", from 1st to 2nd, and because the AWD system, destroyed 2nd gear, so, no PS on this car.
Yall are an awesome channel, keep up the good work, I swear I remember watching this video almost a year ago and it inspired me to get my own 92’ vr4 for my first car, I’m 4 days from turning 17 and I still love it to death. It’s an amazing machine, and fun as hell to work on (when you don’t drop bolts in the black hole of an engine bay or strip a bolt on the rear turbo)
I love how hyped up you get about all the vehicles it let’s us know that you appreciate each vehicle and doesn’t show your opinion on if you don’t like the vehicle.😊
Mitsubishi is like that hot girl from high school that you run into fifteen years later and she's 200 pounds over weight, with kids and a mustache. As you're walking by you're like, "holy fuck, was that Mitsubishi? I barely recognized her!!!".
C T I believe you can get the original GTO with pop ups from a legal importer now. Saw one go up on RHD Specialists and they only import legal cars that are road ready in the USA.
James P That is very unique. I think it’s cause we used to plug our CD Walkmans into the tape deck using this goofy device that looked like a cassette tape with an aux cord hanging out of it (True story - it was ghetto as hell but it worked). Mitsubishi/Dodge was just ahead of the game on that one.
@@negativeindustrialHope you had the 15sec skip projection or you were driving super slow-mo. Man I really dont miss the Walkman days getting mad at the bus driver for hitting to many potholes. These cars were way ahead of there time and if you throw some 13t turbos and injectors you can still keep up with some really nice cars
@@KYZ3R27 in South America that just depends on where side of the planet you import them, since they never meant to be sold here and that also explains why switching the steering wheel side is pretty common and mandatory by laws if the case you imported the JDM Pajero.
Lama the engine....yeah, there the same in a way. But the frame is what made them special. Where mustang's and all other cars are unibody. The vic or "panther" chassis was a true frame. That's why hot rodders love them cause there great to tune or body swap a older car on its frame.
coolcars234 For fuck’s sake! It’s not a Supra so that video does not count. And if you forget the ST-205 GT4 WRC (and Toyota getting caught cheating with it) I’m done with Donut. (Not really but come on)
Aww, come on guys! No subtitles! They come in handy when I'm watching Up to Speed in the middle of history class. :( Edit: Thx to whoever added captions to this video. I can now watch it without fear of getting caught by my history teacher for blasting James' angelic voice.
I think some channels rely on people (us) to do the subtitles for them. You might notice the words might be off sometimes in fast taking/hard hearing videos. There is an option somewhere where you can add them yourself so others can enjoy lol
What I love about the 3000GT VR-4 are the little things that add up along with the big things to make the whole package of the car, things that I slowly discovered over my time owning one, since nobody ever talks about them. Despite being released in an era where manual crank windows were still a normal thing, the 3000GT rocks: 1. A Quick Release lever on the driver's side of the passenger seat, so you can let someone in the back without explaining to them how to bring it forward. 2. A Driver's Side Seat-back memory lever, supplementing the fully power driver seat controls by memorizing your preferred seat back position. Essentially the seat wouldn't begin clicking into any adjustment notches forward of the one you locked it into, so pushing it back ensures it locks into the same position every time. 3. Driver and Passenger side Adjustable Tilt Headrests. Not just up and down, actual forward tilt, to make the headrests actually USABLE since every car makes them sit so far back normally. 4. Drivers Side Power Lumbar Support and Side Bolsters to keep you comfortably supported and hugged into the seat during spirited driving. 5. 3.5mm Auxiliary Port in Factory Radios in case you wanted to hook up portable CD players. This now allows us to use our smart phones without changing the head unit or purchasing expensive bluetooth adapters. 6. Fully Digital Automatic Climate Control. Literally complete with cabin temperature sensor and sunlight sensor. Just press the Auto button and it remembers your last chosen temperature - automatically adjusting temp, fan blower speed and vent selection as it sees fit. It even knows to direct air to your feet and keep the fan speed on low when you're trying to heat the car up during a cold day, only turning up it's fans and adjusting to the upper vents after the engine has had a couple of minutes to heat up, so you don't get blasted with cold air. It's INCREDIBLY smartly designed. 7. One-Touch auto roll down button for the driver side window. All cars have this today, but not at the time. It even showed it off by holding the button in by itself (if fully pressed in) until the window was rolled all the way down, then automatically releasing it. 8. Freaking STEERING WHEEL AUDIO CONTROLS. This STILL blows my mind to this day when some cars still haven't implemented this feature that my THIRTY YEAR OLD car has it. --- When you add all this stuff together with the other big named features that were mentioned in this video, it becomes clear just how absolutely ahead of it's time this car was. Mitsubishi were really riding the bleeding edge of automotive technology on this car, especially when you consider the prototype for this car (known as the HSX) was unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Show in 1989. The car and most all it's features were pretty much COMPLETE at the time. Meaning that this is pretty much an 80's car at heart. Insanely forward-thinking, really showing the mastery that Mitsubishi used to have in their craft, as well as how daring they once were in looking to the future.
I still have mine that I bought in 1991. Have had the honor of also working on the last VR4 ever made. Thanks for the video. P.S. The 6G72 shares many engine components with the 4G63.
@@keilmillerjr9701 what gen RX7? The FD3 was a *nightmare* luckily it was gorgeous. Not all that quick though, the VR4 would easily spank it if both were stock. The J-spec late model RX-7 Spirit/Bathturst models are the ones to get.

You forgot to mention the hardtop convertible Spyder addition of the 3000GT. Which also came in a VR4 or SL. And the reason to 3000 never got the recognition of the supra or the skyline it's because it never appeared in the Fast and Furious movies.
When I was a kid, my older brother and I used to play Gran Turismo on PS1 all the time. Since he was older, he got to choose a car, first. And he always went with this car and won. Which gave me the chance to try all the other cars. Finally I came across the Corvette. I won every straight race! 😆

I would love to see an All You Need to Know about the Subaru Alcyone (also known as the XT in the 80’s and the SVX in the 90’s). If anything, I’d love an episode purely on the SVX. It’s a vehicle that came out during the Japanese economic boom, yet failed to compete with the legends of that time. Great stuff, dude! Been waiting for an episode on the 3000GT/Stealth.
I just bought a 1992 3000gt VR-4, the car has 200k miles on the body and 40k miles on a rebuilt engine, and there's almost ZERO rust on an almost 30 year old car. Best purchase ive ever made.
It's really a tie for me between the the GTO/3000gt and R32 GTR. But I always seemed to go back to the GTO. Just my opinion. I liked a lot of cars on GT1. I was always buying cars on all of the Gran Turismo's and never driving them. I had over 1000 on GT3 I think. Or maybe that was GT4? My memory is going.

"OH MY GOD THAT'S GENIUS; I'M GIVING YOU A PROMOTION"
I sold Mitsubishi's in 1995, and the 3000GT really was a great car, and the VR4 was ungoddamn believable. Terrifyingly quick for its time. (And if we're talking crazy gadgets and features on the VR4 we can't just gloss over the all-wheel steering). That said, heres the thing. We sold very few of them, pretty much Eclipses, Galants, and Contours were 95% our sales business. And yet if you walked round to our service department guess what you saw on almost all the lifts. Almost all our service business was 3000GTs. If you owned one you were gonna develop a very close relationship with one of our service advisors.

I seen a 3000gt in 1991 that could go 200 mph and that was unheard of then, he said the only thing that could catch him on the highway was the radio. I didn’t even know what a 3000gt was. He blasted off out of the gas station so fast.
That’s sick asf😩 super car of the 90s
I am lucky enough for my best friends father to have one of these cars, and my friend does not have a driver’s licence. It is the one without the sport mode and it is naturally aspirated. So no turbo. It is still a fast car. A really fast one. I have sat behind the wheel of that car, and it is a beast.
There were a few errors but overall an awesome video!!
- Pop-ups left in '94 not '93
- The crazy big combat wing and Supra-esque front end didn't come until the last year, '99
- You forgot to explain the hydraulic 4 wheel steering! (another thing that is only becoming mainstream lately)
- There was a Spyder with a retractable hardtop in 95 and 96 That was only the second car to have one in 36 years!
- Aaaand, despite being so heavy it managed to keep up with the Supra and RX7!

Whitestorm It’s an awesome car but I remember when Motor Trend did a high speed test of all the super cars out there back in the late 90’s and the 3000GT VR4 was the slowest of the bunch. To me, I don’t consider 150mph slow.
Proud owner of a 94 3kgt here! These are amazing cars that more people need to know about. It's about time someone covered the history of these.

F*CKING CROSSOVERS
Crossovers were cool when it was Jimmy Timmy Power Hour, but definitely not the Eclipse suv

Mitsubishi was such a legend in sports cars and motor racing . Sad to see what happened now
Sanul Wedaratne yea, but the enginea the wrong way and the 3000gt is way to heavy.
Their build quality was always garbage. The reputation caught up with them.
hj hfj still didn't stop it to be fast. Matter of fact it's quicker around the track than r32 gtr and standard nsx
7:32 is something every manufacturer needs to hear. You can have crossovers they just can't ruin the image of the old car.

There is a *TON* of misinformation in these comments. I'd first like to say that I am a Z32 TT guy, and own two, but want credit given where its due.
I co own a shop that specializes in 90's JDM cars, and have been around all 4 cars since the early 90s. *The 3000GT VR4 was the fastest accelerating of the 4 in a straight line easily beating the 300ZX TT and RX7 TT by 2 car lengths from dig to top speed and any speed roll and the Supra TT could only pass it after 100mph and beats the VR4 from a higher speed roll*
All 300GT VR-4s have a Twin-Turbocharged 24V 3.0L V-6.
'94 to '99 3000GT VR-4s run 0 to 60 in 4.7s to 5.0s and the 1/4m in 13.0s to 13.4s @ 101 to 105mph*
We have a few stock VR4s that we keep around as show cars in our garage (along with my stock 91 300ZX TT and some other stock JDM classics), our stock 1996 VR4 ran a best of 13.18@104.2mph with the spare in the trunk. Our stock 1998 VR4 ran a 13.08@105.1mph with just the spare tire removed.

www.motortrend.com/news/virtual-velocity/ - 1995 3000GT VR-4, 0 to 60 in 5.4s, 1/4m in 13.5s @ 101.6s, 157mph top speed, AWFUL launch due to the 0 to 60 time.
They got the launch better, but had some bad drivers, as they got bad times for the Supra TT as well.
archiv.3000gt.org/viewtopic.php?t=2582 - 1999 3000GT VR-4, 0 to 60 in 5.00s, 1/4m in 13.44s @ 101.79mph.
DAMN! The GTO vs R33 was so close!
300ZX TT SWAP Actually the handling is better than people think. With the right tires and suspension setup, the car handles pretty good. Predictable understeer with most of the weight in the front, but the awd system provides tremendous grip!
300ZX TT SWAP could you provide a link to your shop? I may be looking to get my base model reincarnated if you happen to be in CA lol

I blame the media/import magazines, they focused too much on popular/common cars like the GT-R, RX-7, Supra, 350z and etc. If they focused on other vehicles instead, maybe these cars would maintain a strong interest in tuning culture. (I'm looking at you Super Street...)
Alex Medrano except those cars were much better
Alex Medrano Tuning culture doesn't hype them because they aren't good tuner cars. Do you think there is some sort of bias against Mitsubishi? The same era Z32 300zx TT was super hyped when it came out and won sports car of the year awards all the time. No one talks about them now except Nissan fans like me because they aren't good tuner cars at all. The VR4 is in the same category. Not to mention they are considered money pits because all that tech doesn't age well and they break all the time. That is why they aren't hyped and overpriced in my opinion, but that's also something you should be happy about if you are a fan right?

3800 lbs! At least it's lighter than Jessica
Really 3800 is not even that bad for a twin trubo v6.
epoxeclipse Compared to the competition at the time (Skyline, Sti, Evo, etc) which were all around 3000-3200 lbs it was just a bigger/heavier car. But I know what you're saying. I drove an e39 540i for a while and that was 3800lbs with about the same hp/tq as the 3000gt.
Kenny K the STI wasn't competition. The EVO is most definitely NOT competition.

What I love about the 3000GT VR-4 are the little things that add up along with the big things to make the whole package of the car, things that I slowly discovered over my time owning one, since nobody ever talks about them.
Despite being released in an era where manual crank windows were still a normal thing, the 3000GT rocks:
---
When you add all this stuff together with the other big named features that were mentioned in this video, it becomes clear just how absolutely ahead of it's time this car was.
Insanely forward-thinking, really showing the mastery that Mitsubishi used to have in their craft, as well as how daring they once were in looking to the future.
thank you sir

I understand your pain and rage, but at least keep it aimed it at those responsible. Focus your anger, young Sith.
Are you Godzilla?
Hmm... Probably from one of these: Macedonia, Serbia, or Romania
"east china sea" haha. I liked that.

This was one of the best EYNTK ever. I love their coverage of the 80-90s Japanese car scene.
Do the story of the f40 next
Germol London then F50 or the 250 GTO
Maybe do it like the lamborghini, their rivals after all
Anthony Galon Ferrari 250 series in general would be great.
Germol London if this guy says Nissun one more time...
Or just Ferrari in general
The edits are on point! 😂😂 I’m loving these episodes, keep it up! 👍🏻

It seems like you cant escape the curse of the ramchargers comments anymore.
ITS FRIGGIN EVERYWHERE!!
But I dig that
Mr Miscellaneous someone was gonna say it so I figured it would be me 😂
Jordster360 finally found ya
This is the only reason I look forward to Thursday’s #UpToSpeed
You forgot to mention the hardtop convertible Spyder addition of the 3000GT. Which also came in a VR4 or SL. And the reason to 3000 never got the recognition of the supra or the skyline it's because it never appeared in the Fast and Furious movies.
Wyatt Neff it actually is in 2 fast 2 furious before Brian buys the skyline
Wyatt Neff I seen it when I first watched it
fuck the fast n the furious! shit for kidz!
No it didn't get recognition because old turbo v6s blew head gaskets daily.
Wyatt Neff although it was a great car it was the most unreliable of the time.
When I was a kid, my older brother and I used to play Gran Turismo on PS1 all the time. Since he was older, he got to choose a car, first. And he always went with this car and won. Which gave me the chance to try all the other cars. Finally I came across the Corvette. I won every straight race! 😆
I literally bought one of these about a month ago for £4K I’m sooooooo happy with it ❤️
samxma I was thinking about getting one do you have any problems with it?
Zero so far man! It's only been about a month and a week though, but I have pushed it pretty hard and used it a for some medium sized trips etc! I've just taken in it for a service too :)
Right now they are incredible value for money and have everything you want in a car, the gas mileage sucks though! haha
Yeah, but samxma, you don't have one of these cars and worry about the gas mileage. Its smiles for miles ;))
Exactly dude!
Sounds awesome! :) Thanks for sharing
I’m confused, when I go to my sub box, this video isn’t there. When I go to the donut video list. It’s not there. When I go to the playlist for up to speed, it’s there. WHAT?
I would love to see an All You Need to Know about the Subaru Alcyone (also known as the XT in the 80’s and the SVX in the 90’s). If anything, I’d love an episode purely on the SVX. It’s a vehicle that came out during the Japanese economic boom, yet failed to compete with the legends of that time. Great stuff, dude! Been waiting for an episode on the 3000GT/Stealth.
Smang It Drums The Subaru Justy
Love the SVX, that's a truly underrated car
I just bought a 1992 3000gt VR-4, the car has 200k miles on the body and 40k miles on a rebuilt engine, and there's almost ZERO rust on an almost 30 year old car. Best purchase ive ever made.
Auto or manual
@@h214suiiii manual of course
Cream good to hear mate hope you enjoy your beautiful car :)
Hahaha I really appreciate the gundam reference.
What happened to you Mitsubishi? You used to be cool.
Was gonna ask the same question
Nissan happened
Just seen a new Eclispe Cross. That is what happened.
Mitsubishi cars are more advanced than Toyota cars. There is still the GT but a different design. Most popular models are Pajero, Montero and Xpander.
zebulun docallas
No don't count the xpander as a popular model just don't...
Best car on Gran Turismo 1
Escudo in GT2
Yeah man! That thing would fly! Literally haha
Scrolled too long to read this.. (not sure it was best tbh, but it damn sure was the fastest/most customable...)
Kenny K hands fucking down. GT1 made me fall in love with this bitch.
It's returning as the 4000GT Outlander
Ew
Oof
YOU SHUT YOUR DAMN MOUTH!!! lol
Chris D you mean 1500GT because down sized SUVs are a thing now 🤷🏻♂️

"We need another boring crossover/suv because that's all that anyone buys any more."
"Then what's going to make our's special?"
"I've got it! Let's name it after another car that doesn't actually share any design traits or similarities with it but was canceled years ago and appeals to people's nostalgia."
"OH MY GOD THAT'S GENIUS; I'M GIVING YOU A PROMOTION"
NSX, please.
The NSX Is only 2 Gens. But reminder that they only tell more story of the car and telling the NSX.
Next month, maybe
andrey pabalate Why would it matter if the NSX only has two generations? The 3000gt only has one and they made a video for it...
Yeah if they do it I will be Pump! #NSXRULES?
Do the *Celica* next!!!
lego technic CELICAAAAAAAAAAAA
It won't turn!
For real
Ew
Riley Jones Have you driven one?
I appreciate the Gundam reference, thanks James :)
Up to speed Abarth!!
There are three 3000GT’s rolling around my home town in rural Ohio. Talked to all 3 owners, they’ll never sell.
That's true..just the same here in my country.
travis habursky what town ?
3 dudes own one car? How rural we talking?
I’m also in rural Ohio and there seems to be an abandoned 3000gt in a parking lot. Thick rusted rotors and has been there for a long time.
I'll never sell mine either lol I love mine and plan to upgrade as much as i can over the years.
Watching this today (again) because the VR-4 is one of my attainable dream cars. But hey James ... Its crazy to see how much weight you've lost. Congrats on transforming yourself. Love this channel and all you guys do!
The sad reality of the Mitsubishi 3000GT and Mitsubishi in general. It would be nice if the big wigs at Mitsubishi got a freaking clue. SMH James you definitely make these documentaries entertaining. Keep up the great content.

More powerful than a ferrari 348
Show a testarossa
I noticed that too haha, similar but completely different rides
lol the 3k gt even now when u buy one used for under 10k that can beat a ferrari stock... even the base GT is bad enuff to beat most newer cars on the street. If u can find one in good shape... its worth every penny.
@@kevinpittman2517 hell yeah it was smoke one of these new Corvettes out too
when i was a kid, my pediatrician had a 3000GT in dark green - it looked so choice
My mom had a 97 model. Last year they made them. We drove it to Colorado like 4 times from TN and everybody would drool over this car. We didn’t truly understand what we had when we had it. We knew it would literally fly and when she sold it for $19,000 I cried and cried I just “knew” this car was gonna be mine when I turned 16. Boy I was wrong..
One of my first loves, when I first laid eyes on it back in Gran Turismo 2
300GT VR-4... It was my dads first sports car.. sadly he sold it when he went back to school and the money started to disappear. He loved that car.
I have a 3rd gen 3000gt ('97) and Im currently restoring it! Im almost done just ordered the last interior plastic bits I need and fixing a small sunroof leak. This car is so fun, and so very aggressive looking I love it, bought for 1300>>
How's it going?
@@MkadinA01 pretty good. Its never broken down and all Ive done is regular maintenence. Tie rod ends, front wheel bearings, oil changes on time, and replaced a few old rubber hoses. Still running strong with no dash lights. Ive owned it for 2yrs.
@@novice_surgery where did you find interior pieces for it? Thinking of buying one near me but needs some custom stuff ripped out for stock.
GTO and Pulsar GTI-R were real cult cars in the UK. Early 00s was the last of the good cars and the shows that had heavy repping for all 90s JDM
