It already had the 2zz swapped in it which made things surprisingly fun and quick, but the plan was just to have a gas saving road warrior that I could beat on. Then my house and all my cars got flooded. Had to spend two years rebuilding my house. Lost all of my cars but that damn toyota...drained it, blew all the water out the cylinders, and it started right up and everything still worked properly on it...electrics computer everything. Now dubbed little bastard,fludd viktum, and martu, this car is sticking with me from now on
I drove a bunch of these MR2s in the 80s and in my 20s , working for a rental company. It had speed, fantastic maneuvering, acceleration, and felt almost as light as spider. What a glorious time it was. Thanks for the video.
Rumor has it they're working on it. Supposedly either the celica or the mr2 or possibly both are coming back. I just hope that the mr2 comes first. The celica wouldn't be able to offer anything substantial that the 86 does already since they're both FR.
SKDK the Celica was originally Rwd which went to fwd later. I honestly think that MR2 should return as a Lexus and gun for other luxury sports cars. The celica can a be a great viable competitor to the Civic SI.

My girlfriends sister bought a first gen for $1000 in a small surf town in Canada and I always thought it was badass, but I had never even driven a car at that time so I never paid as much attention to it as I should. It was stick and sounded like buff horses mating. She ended up driving it for a year or so then selling it in perfect running condition for $300. Once I got into cars I realized how cool that car truly was and I will never forgive myself for not giving her $300 bucks and having a legend of a daily driver. Not if you put much wider tires on the rear than the front, it didn't. ;) Mine had 245/35R18 on the rear and 215/35R18 on the front and literally could not come unstuck, period. BFG KDWS. It was red with Enkei PF09 9-spokes in matte dark gunmetallic with red chromed lug nuts, and T-tops of course. Definitely my favorite car I ever owned and the best performing. Also, crazily enough, the best _winter_ car I ever owned... and I owned a Subaru Imprezza Outback Sport and a Suzuki Samurai, so... heh.

I owned a MK2 MR2 "92 plate" during the early 2000's Standard GT type but god damn, i loved it! it was a twitchy bastard on the ass end in corners, but that was all part of the cars personality. and it made me learn alot on how to handle cars in those corners lol. Wish i never sold it :( i still miss it to this day.
I just bought a 1985 MR2 AW11 for 1.2k USD. The moment I started watching Donut and found out these cars were a cheap, viable mid engine 2 door, it became one of my dream cars, and I can't believe I got one for what I did (It's an absolute steal for the condition it was). Got it delivered yesterday, the day I found it. I wasn't passing it up for anything. Body has small bits of surface rust, but no bubbling paint, and only one point of rust rot behind the rear right mudguard
It even has the original triangle wheels, which I really, really wanted. Original interior just with some aftermarket speakers. 240,000km on it, not a rolling body, it has an engine and the 5 speed manual trans
So, thank you guys for making me aware of this car. I never thought I could get anything remotely like it at the price point it cost. It was all I could realistically afford, so the fact that there was something like this was just.. I'm so lucky
The S2000 had two kinda different models (AP1 and the AP2) while still being the same. But the History of Honda S-Cars is kinda interesting. You got the S360, S500, S600, S800 and finally the S2000 so there is more to its history :)
I used to deliver pizzas in my clean red mk1 and legit had this old man ask how I could afford the payments. Also delivered to a couple that said "hey we saw you drop that movie at Blockbuster today and that turning radius is tiight. Also one bit you didn't mention was that the S/C model didn't handle quite as good as the N/A as the rear suspension was slightly different and it weighed a bit more. Ok ok one more thing. When you take the sunroof out on place it in the storage space under the bonnet, you can literally feel the lower cg and better balance in the handling. Love these vids dudes keep them coming!

Not if you put much wider tires on the rear than the front, it didn't. ;) Mine had 245/35R18 on the rear and 215/35R18 on the front and literally could not come unstuck, period. BFG KDWS. It was red with Enkei PF09 9-spokes in matte dark gunmetallic with red chromed lug nuts, and T-tops of course. Definitely my favorite car I ever owned and the best performing. Also, crazily enough, the best _winter_ car I ever owned... and I owned a Subaru Imprezza Outback Sport and a Suzuki Samurai, so... heh.

My mom drove an MR2. She had it for a long time but somebody broke into it and at the time her family was poor, so she sold it. If it wasn’t for that jerk we would’ve kept it and that’s the car I would’ve learned manual in. At least we have a MazdaSpeed 3 tho..

Sadly, people in Canada are getting rebates to crush these for new cars. Eight to $10,000 for a 1993 MR2 my best friend saw one crushed and almost started crying, immaculate yellow. Nothing wrong with it.

I just bought a 1985 MR2 AW11 for 1.2k USD. The moment I started watching Donut and found out these cars were a cheap, viable mid engine 2 door, it became one of my dream cars, and I can't believe I got one for what I did (It's an absolute steal for the condition it was). Got it delivered yesterday, the day I found it. I wasn't passing it up for anything. Body has small bits of surface rust, but no bubbling paint, and only one point of rust rot behind the rear right mudguard
It even has the original triangle wheels, which I really, really wanted. Original interior just with some aftermarket speakers. 240,000km on it, not a rolling body, it has an engine and the 5 speed manual trans
So, thank you guys for making me aware of this car. I never thought I could get anything remotely like it at the price point it cost. It was all I could realistically afford, so the fact that there was something like this was just.. I'm so lucky

The mr2 is one of the most beautiful cars I have ever laid my eyes upon.
I used to deliver pizzas in my clean red mk1 and legit had this old man ask how I could afford the payments. Also delivered to a couple that said "hey we saw you drop that movie at Blockbuster today and that turning radius is tiight. Also one bit you didn't mention was that the S/C model didn't handle quite as good as the N/A as the rear suspension was slightly different and it weighed a bit more. Ok ok one more thing. When you take the sunroof out on place it in the storage space under the bonnet, you can literally feel the lower cg and better balance in the handling. Love these vids dudes keep them coming!
Kind of wish you had mentioned that Toyota took the MR2 to LeMans by stretching the chassis and dropping the 1UZ V8 in it, then calling it the SARD MC8 (of which there is one road legal example for homologation).
