Missed a couple things... 24 Valve head came out in 1998.5, not 2003 11:23. Common rail came out in 2003. Would have loved to hear more about Ford having stock in Cummins and using them up to a few years ago in the 550 and 650. Cummins was just about bankrupt in the late 80's and Dodge truck sales made up about 5% of the truck market until the got together. Cummins was able to buy back all their shares from Ford shortly after. If Ford would have been on top of that deal, Dodge wouldn't be making trucks and all Fords would have a Cummins, making pretty well the perfect truck..... So close

A neighbor of mine has his own garage/machine shop and he fixes classic cars. He has a Dodge Coronet with a 440 cid (7.2 Liter) displacement. Goddamn is that car fun.

My uncle has a late 70’s 1/2 ton Dodge with some kind of a 6cyl Nissan or Mazda Diesel engine I think, it was a factory option. He also said that they went to a 24 valve head in ‘03, when we all know that It was in 1998.

@@wyattlewis8671 I didn't know that these engines where specifically designed for case, that's interesting. So the 5.9 l must've been in the first Maxxums. My dad used to have both of these tractors when i was younger, but he didn't keep the maxxum for as long so don't remember too much about it
@Luke Augustus No they have a Fiat Power Train engine like every other trackor build from CNH these days. I don't know how it performs in the Maxxum but we are very happy with the FPT engines in our New Holland T7's. They are Very fuel efficent, powerful and reliable.
The Cummins 6 cylinder is an inline design, all 6 cylinders are in a straight line. This configuration is more naturally balanced and usually does not require balance shafts, unlike most V configuration engines do. An inline 6 also has 7 main bearings supporting the crank. By comparison the V8 only has 5. So, 6 cylinders with 7 main bearings supporting the crankshaft, vs 8 cylinders with only 5 main bearings supporting the crankshaft. The inline 6 has a much stronger bottom end with much less stress per bearing than the V8.

I'm from the philippines, and i have a RAM 2500 HD and we have a rice farm and also we have gooseneck trailer 20ft texas pride trailer 8.1ton capasity. Back to the ram that truck can tow 5 tons equvalent to 100 pieces of sack of rice, and 1 sack is weight 50 kilos and it tow like 1 ton and the exhaust brake freaking good this pick up truck almost killed everything!

Tbf, the 6BT was designed for medium duty, it was over engineerd for the ram (I oftenly like that tho) and probbly just about right for a small bus.

That and the 5.9 were originally designed for case tractors by cummins and manufactured by both case and cummins as the consolidated diesel corporation. If you look at a 5.9 and 8.3 side by side, they look pretty similar other than the 8.3 being bigger
@@wyattlewis8671 I didn't know that these engines where specifically designed for case, that's interesting. So the 5.9 l must've been in the first Maxxums. My dad used to have both of these tractors when i was younger, but he didn't keep the maxxum for as long so don't remember too much about it
@Luke Augustus No they have a Fiat Power Train engine like every other trackor build from CNH these days. I don't know how it performs in the Maxxum but we are very happy with the FPT engines in our New Holland T7's. They are Very fuel efficent, powerful and reliable.

The Cummins 6 cylinder is an inline design, all 6 cylinders are in a straight line. This configuration is more naturally balanced and usually does not require balance shafts, unlike most V configuration engines do. An inline 6 also has 7 main bearings supporting the crank. By comparison the V8 only has 5. So, 6 cylinders with 7 main bearings supporting the crankshaft, vs 8 cylinders with only 5 main bearings supporting the crankshaft. The inline 6 has a much stronger bottom end with much less stress per bearing than the V8.

I'm from the philippines, and i have a RAM 2500 HD and we have a rice farm and also we have gooseneck trailer 20ft texas pride trailer 8.1ton capasity. Back to the ram that truck can tow 5 tons equvalent to 100 pieces of sack of rice, and 1 sack is weight 50 kilos and it tow like 1 ton and the exhaust brake freaking good this pick up truck almost killed everything!
